Hi friends! Doing a quick drop-in I'm going out to dinner tonight with my neighbor and am laying around in my workout clothes still. I got all the kitten's official photos and bios together, they're being taken an hour away tomorrow morning by a long-term volunteer tomorrow for 5 neuters and 1 spay. Nervous for them! I'll be at the greenhouse after by myself for most of the morning so I'll be distracted at least.
@trooworld You in particular I think would love this recipe I posted last week, I'd imagine it could be made vegetarian and vegan too but it's delicious as is, I wasn't too sure of peaches with tomatoes either! The butter on the sheetpan with pumpkin seeds and prosciutto would skip or lose most of the butter though I don't think it really needs that 2T. I was doing the declutter challenge but didn't post about it I'm sorry!
@TeresaW2024 That would be great if the eliptical could give you a good workout where you could stay in the room with Joe.
@Veta2018 I feel it's more likely to happen when I say it here or do a challenge on here too!
@micaroo4 Diet Pepsi was so hard for me to stop, I grew up drinking diet sodas. I started adding in Crystal Light and from there went to strong herbal teas and would let myself buy a small bottle of Diet Pepsi on shopping days. I think part of it is the bubbliness, I've been able to switch to kombucha instead and enjoy it but of course some people hate kombucha. These days I'm all strong herbal tea after my morning cup of coffee and maybe kombucha, I probably have a soda twice a month and I used to only drink it all the time. I know it's hard! I put it as one of my habit changes but stopping coffee creamer helps me so much with wanting something sweet too. I haven't been a big fan of flavored seltzer water because they don't have a lot of flavor but my roommate left some behind and they're better than they used to be too. I have my calendar marked to take over on the 23rd just want you to know I'm not forgetting even though I haven't been on much.
WHAT'S A SMALL HEALTHY SWAP YOU'VE MADE THAT'S GOING EASIER THAN EXPECTED? Done a few and I'm curious to hear how @trooworld @TeresaW2024 are doing with creatine, I decided to grab some at Costco last week and do feel it's helping my brain fog a bit. I go back and forth on buying coffee creamer or doing half-and-half with some cinnamon and am finding I prefer the half-and-half with cinnamon. For a long time I figured it's just a little and even though my diabetes is in remission I don't need to be having that much sugar in the morning (helps me not eat for longer as well). I've been skipping workouts and committed to at least do 30 minutes a day and that's helping me feel better too.
Kitten's adoption pics the 5 boys first then the girl Star. The one with the red blanket is the sweetest I'm so tempted to keep him! He has a bump on his nose we're hoping the vet will check out tomorrow as it's getting bigger (totally willing to nurse him back to health for months, haha). The 3rd kitten Luke is the one we think has wobbly cat syndrome, he's such a fighter though he went from being tiny and losing weight to getting over 3lbs today!

@gemwolf110 Thank you for the laugh! It has been an odd day today.
Hello, all, it has been a long crazy days. My Scouts troop has lots going on. It's the srat of the school year and there is so, so much to do! A few weeks from now, our campout calendar will srtart dsettling into place and this will all seem easier. I am on the board for an education project, and sad to say, there is drama there right now. I wish there were not. I will breathe deeply anmd get through this, and we will help make great science education happen, I know. But today, drama. On the plus side, I am here checking in with you lovely people, and I did go for my 45-minute outdoor walk, and I did eat a salad for dinner, and I did meet my protein goals, and I did log food.
@TeresaW2024 — I continue to be impressed at your strength of spirit and your adaptability as you move through this stage of life with your dear Joe. How great that your boss camed to you today. I hope the new electrical elliptical works well!
@Veta2018 — Thank you for checking in! And hurray for doing an evening workout if you have to. Even a miniworkout in the evening is a win, and better than none at all. Keep up the great work!
@micaroo4 — Hurray for upgrading your strength workout! As far as kicking Diet Coke — you got this! Are you going cold turkey or weaning your way down?
@baodell17724 — Fun article! Yes, there are some things on that list that would torch both my sleep and my weigh-in!
@trooworld — How are you doing today? I am hoping that the headache was just that, and that you are not getting sick.
@Cornanda — Thank you for sharing the cute picture of Gus and his stuffie! It's such fun ghiving pets treats. I picked up extra nice catnip toys for my two kitties last week, and they are very popular.
@FushiaKat — Your discipline with maintenance is so inspiring! Hurray for the great mammogram news!
@DrewsAnna — I am so sorry about the stress. Hurray for the tracking and journaling and exercise! I hope all the checkups are useful, too. This sounds like a big change, but it also sounds like you are already in action and will find your way through this challenge.
@vegan4lyfe2012 — How are you doing today? I am thinking of you.
@Katmary71 — Thank you for sharing the kitten pictures. They are so, so, so adorable.❤️ I want them all. But. I have two cats and am having cat drama this week. We took Piku, the older and diabetic cat, with us for a day and a night when we went to visit my inlaws. When we got back home, Habibi, the younger cat, had decided "Everything Here Is Mine," and has been hissing at Piku. If it doesn't settle down, my husband may take Habibi to work with him one day to see if mixing things up resets things. We'll see.
1 -
@AustinRuadhain - cold turkey on the diet coke! Day 12. I'm thinking Piku might smell different, and that's why Habibi is hissing at Piku? I had that quite a few years ago when Scout went to the vet overnight and Amber stayed home. When I brought Scout back, she treated him like a stranger. I gave him a brushing and then rubbed him all over with one of the "used" cat towels from the couch where they sleep. Scout smelled more like himself and Amber recognized him again.
@Katmary71 - the kittens are adorable. I would have a hard time giving ANY of them up!
@DrewsAnna @askewcr - Reminder for Thursday Weigh In!

@Katmary71 - Thank you for sharing the kitten photos. You did a great job. They are all so beautiful and it was a great start to my Thurs.

@Veta2018 Thanks , we do make a lot of good food! Thank you. Would it help you to put your workouts on your calendar?
@TeresaW2024 Me too , I hate when I have a headache, I'm such a wimp when it comes to headaches, I can't do anything with one! I am experiencing them less often. I think because I'm not taking Ibuprofen (I found out I was getting "rebound headaches" from taking Ibuprofen so often). But it could also be the weight loss! Good job reminding yourself you don't need that chocolate bar! I hope the adjustable tray makes it easier for both of you. How did the elliptical go?
@gemwolf110 My week is going pretty good . I am making changes that may show up on the scale if not this week, then next week. How is your week going?
@Katmary71 I hope you enjoyed dinner with your neighbor and that the neuters /spay go well today. Thank you for the recipe, I love Half Baked Harvest and I didn't see this one! No worries, I need to jog everyone's memory about the challenge! The creatine is going okay. I haven't noticed a difference in anything but I'm pretty oblivious lol. I'm glad it is helping your brain fog. The kittens are so cute! I hope the bump is nothing.
@AustinRuadhain I'm sorry that the education project is experiencing drama , that's always unpleasant. I'm glad you took some time to check in with us. Good job on the walk, salad, meeting your protein goals, and logging! I am doing much better today, thank you! I get headaches when the weather gets warmer, so this is about the time for that.
What’s a small, healthy swap you’ve made recently (like a food, drink, or habit) that’s been easier than you expected? Before my surgery in December 2024, I used to have a wine spritzer to relax every night: 3 oz of wine + 3 oz of diet 7-up. At least one, sometimes two. If it were the weekend, then 3. When I had my surgery, I was told I couldn't drink for the first year so I haven't had my spritzers. I'm surprised at how easy it's been to not drink. Sometimes I wish I could have a glass of wine but it's a fleeting craving.
DECLUTTER CHALLENGE: How's it going for everyone? I haven't done anything in two weeks! I will work on it this weekend. I plan to put my purses in their storage containers. I still have scheduled August 29th as a vacation day. I then have off Sept 1, and Friday Sept 5th off to work on it.
Hi all. Not only did I throw away that candy at work, but at home, I have been making a mocktail with 1 part fruit juice nectar to 3 or 4 parts sparkling flavored water. I decided I didn't need that, either. Another thing I did at work: the past few days, I've been craving potato chips in the afternoon. Instead of getting some of those from the vending machine, I have been getting a cup of hot chocolate. That seems to satisfy my craving. Last night, I had leftovers for dinner. I'm glad I have leftovers to eat! I may have a different leftover tonight.
Tracked yesterday? YES!

Hi 👋
It's a rough morning! I'm getting a stress test and I'm not allowed to have anything except for small sips of water. My appt is at 12:30, I need some coffee ☕️ 😩 😫 and some foods…
Yesterday was a super busy day and it wore me out…

@baodell17724 – You are definitely not the only person to take food out of the trash. I’ve done it on more than one occasion. I remember @TeresaW2024 telling me a couple years ago that she would spray the food with cleaning products before throwing it in the trash. I had to do that a few times myself.
@Cornanda – So glad you and hubby had a good weekend. Gus is so stinkin’ cute!
@trooworld – Glad to see you’re doing better with water. I’ve been doing better with taking my vitamins since I put it on the habit tracker. Do you think the tracker is helping you? Good job throwing away the candy! I haven’t been doing the decluttering challenge…I just don’t have the energy for it.
@TeresaW2024 – Nice loss! Hmm…you add protein powder to your coffee…I wonder how it would taste in tea? Maybe my Vanilla Mint Chai since my powder is vanilla flavor? I might give that a try before I return it 😊
@DrewsAnna – I’ll be praying for your doctor visits to go the way you need them to. Hopefully you can at least be on a maintenance dose of Wegovy, if that exists.
@FushiaKat – Can’t wait to see your sandcastle room!
@Katmary71 – Your kitties are so adorable! You are such a special woman for fostering them!
@AustinRuadhain – I’m doing better, thank you. I think going to the conference was a good way to reset myself. Sorry to hear about all the drama going on.
My conference was quick and educational, as usual. They announced the 2026 one will be in Detroit. A little disappointed in that because we’ve already held it in Detroit 2 other times and I was hoping for somewhere up north. I was able to keep calories under control without a problem – lunch was buffet style, but it was fresh salad fixings along with roasted sweet potatoes and lemon quinoa. I was impressed with how healthy it was! Anyway, I am using next year’s conference as my motivator. It will be the first conference that I will not have Hunter with me and I’ll have to actually be social if I want to have people to hang out with in the evenings. If I can lose a pound a week, I’ll be very close to my goal weight by then and I know it will be a huge confidence builder for me. 😊
Now for the biggest announcement: @bobboyardee promised me he’d post his introduction if I was able to go 3 nights without snacking AND I DID IT! Pay up, Drew!!! WOOT WOOT! Y’all are welcome 😊 On a serious note, a huge thank you to him for helping me through and I am going to try my best to keep it going!
What’s a small, healthy swap you’ve made recently (like a food, drink, or habit) that’s been easier than you expected? Cooking with EVOO or avocado SPRAY instead of a tablespoon of the liquid.

FYI: If you feel the need to snack, at least choose something that tastes good AND fills you up ???🙄

hi all!
Yesterday I had my grandkids over for a swim, we went down to the pool and I forgot that I put my phone in my bathing suit pocket. I started to swim around with my grandkids and thought something felt strange😳. It took until this afternoon but my cell phone finally dried out! I don't have a landline anymore, it has been very odd to be without any source of communication. I got a bunch of meal prep done today as well as going to the gym for the barbell class.Sorry I don't have time to catch up more, it is 8 PM and my eyes are ready to close.
2 -
@TeresaW2024 - I made a Peach Honeybush iced protein latte! I steeped 2 teaspoons of tea in 8 oz of water for 15 minutes. Separately, I frothed together 15 grams vanilla protein powder and 8 oz unsweetened soy milk. I taste more of the vanilla flavor and just a subtle hint of peach. Next time, I plan to adjust the ratio to 12 oz of tea and 4 oz of soy milk some more of the tea flavor comes through.
That was my last consumable for the evening. I ended my day under calories and only 2 grams shy of hitting my protein goal. I will definitely be experimenting with stronger tea flavors for this combo. And I'll be keeping my container of protein powder 😁

@Katmary71 - Those kittens are so damn cute! My favorite is the second boy. He looks playful with that shoe string in the picture.
@trooworld - lol…calendar? What's that?…just kidding. I don't really use a calendar. I do have a morning routine though. Although, if I spend too much time on my laptop in the morning, I don't get my exercise in before my husband gets up. This morning, I just worked-out and let him go find something to do. I don't know why it matters to me if he's up or not.
@AustinRuadhain - Thank you for checking in. That's too bad about the drama. Great job doing your 45-minute walk, eat a salad for dinner, meeting your protein goals, and logging your food.
@vegan4lyfe2012 - Great goal! You've got this!
What’s a small, healthy swap you’ve made recently (like a food, drink, or habit) that’s been easier than you expected?
I don't have any recent swaps. In the past, I've successfully swapped chips for nuts. Almonds are my favorite.

@Veta2018 - I play those games too- like can't work out if your husband is up, etc. Part of the reason I gained all this weight is because I was playing games with weighing myself- no clothes on, no food or water on board, etc- it was NEVER the perfect time. Not sure why we do those things to ourselves….
@vegan4lyfe2012 - Congrats on your 3 day reset! It already sounds like you are in a better head space, now as @askewcr says- "let's go get it!"
Happy Friday!

@vegan4lyfe2012 Thanks , I am! I had 72 oz yesterday. Fridays are a challenge since I work from home...when I have to go to work, I drink a 24-oz on the way to work, at work, and on the way home. I think the habit tracker is helping, for sure! I'm glad it is helping you, too. No worries about the challenge, you can declutter any time! I'm glad the conference was over quickly and was helpful. That's great that the meals were healthy! Good goal! CONGRATS on going 3 nights without snacking! WOO HOO!!! And now we will learn more about @bobboyardee in his introduction ! Oh, that iced protein latte sounds good. :)
@baodell17724 Those foods really didn't surprise me , they are all pretty unhealthy! Thanks for this morning's read!
@laurelfit57 Oh gosh ! I'm glad your phone survived. I bet it would be weird to not have a phone (I don't have a landline, either). Good job with the meal prep and the gym!
@Veta2018 Ah , I see! That's good you have a morning routine. Good job doing your workout yesterday!
@davors19 Way to go !
@micaroo4 Enjoy vacation !
Hi all. I've been really busy at work, but it's making the weeks go by quickly, which is good. Today is my work-from-home day. After work, we are going to the gym and getting groceries. I made a new workout plan. I need to have my DH look it over to make sure it is balanced. Last night, for dinner, I had leftovers but tonight, I am making something: Super Green Sun-Dried Tomato Herb Salad with Crispy Chickpeas from Half Baked Harvest. I've made it before and really liked it. I lost 2 lbs this week.
Tracked yesterday? YES!

@micaroo4 – Have a fantastic vacation!
@Cornanda – Thanks!
@trooworld – Congrats on that awesome loss!
@TeresaW2024 - I'm fully down the rabbit hole with tea and protein! Hahaha! Thank you!
So last night I tried the protein powder with peach honeybush tea and could actually taste some of the peach. This morning, I brewed a concentrate of Vanilla Mint Chai and only did ¼ cup soymilk with 15g powder. Can’t taste the tea at all. I think I needed more dilution of the powder, so I’m gonna keep tweaking it until it’s right 😊 At least I’m starting my morning with 12g protein instead of my usual 1g from a banana. I’m only halfway through my drink and I’m already feeling full!
This is last night's Peach Honeybush Protein Latte:
And this is today's Vanilla Mint Chai Protein Latte:
(Sharing pictures just cuz I enjoy photos of drinks.) lols
I hope everyone has a Fantastic Friday!

@Katmary71 The kitties are so sweet, and I really hope they all find amazing homes! I would be tempted to keep them all! 😀 I don’t know if creatine is doing much or not, but I keep taking it every day in my lunch smoothie. My sister tried it and felt it upset your stomach. I think it’s worth it from all that I’ve heard about the benefits. I use half-and-half and think it’s much better for you than most creamers, which are full of unknown ingredients.
@AustinRuadhain You are a busy lady! I am sorry that you are dealing with drama at the school. Hopefully, it will get worked out for the benefit of the kiddos. Great job on getting your exercise and eating! Thank you for your kind words. I don’t have much choice but to do what needs to be done and adapt as needed. 😕
@trooworld I haven’t really worked on any decluttering, but I did realize that my junk drawer is a hot mess, so maybe I will get to it later today. Wayyyyy to go in giving up your mocktail, too. Learning to say no and make wiser choices should be an inspiration for all of us who struggle. Wahooo on your two lb. loss!! 😎
@vegan4lyfe2012 You should totally try mixing protein powder in with your tea! 🙂I’m glad that the conference went well, and now you have a good motivator for next year to help with your weight loss. Put a pic of Detroit or something as a reminder on your fridge! It's great that the protein powder worked in your tea. It’s a great way to get in more protein without having to eat it. 😀
Good morning! So, my morning started OK, but then Joe decided to pass out really hard on his bedside commode. My sister and I tried to lift him and put him in bed, but his dead weight made it impossible, so we put him on the floor, and I called for a lift assist. The EMS came out and put him in bed, where he will stay until I’m sure he is OK to get up again. 😕In other, more fun news, I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 16 Pro yesterday and have been shopping for the perfect case and Popsocket. I just found a pink Otterbox on sale for $20! Score!!! 😎3 -
Hi 👋
No drs appts today, thank goodness. Now, I wait for results. I have a lot to do today and I'm hoping to get a strength training workout done. I'm going to start tracking my food again today.
Tomorrow, I'm getting some me time, thankfully! It's much needed…
Y'all have a great day 😀

[Started journaling with the OA Twelve Steps Workbook and finished the Step One questions. Been feeling like I'm "running around in circles" binge-eating a tiny bit every day (just on healthy foods, though) and my cardio routine is still not up to what it used to be, say, 2 months ago. I've always had mixed feelings about the OA program and how they view "abstinence" (and "verboten" foods in particular). BUT, after 15 months of dieting, etc. I feel like I need a new way of thinking and acting. And new "tools" in my "tool box". Fortunately, I'm not a person who gets hung up on the whole "God/Higher Power" thang!😉]

Good morning! I have to share that I had a terribly humiliating thing happen to me yesterday, shortly after Joe’s passing-out episode. I got a call from the sheriff's office from someone with a very thick Southern accent. My first thought was that it was a wellness check on Joe after his lift assist, but it wasn’t. The “sheriff” informed me that a warrant for my arrest was issued due to a missed jury duty summons. The man on the phone sounded so legit and professional, and ALL I could think about was Joe! My sister kept trying to talk to me, but the “sheriff” was talking so much legalese that I was concentrating so hard to understand him that I kept waving her off. Before I knew it, I was in my car and heading to the bank to withdraw most of my money to pay a fine so that I wouldn’t be booked and put in jail.
Thankfully, my sister called my niece, who then called the non-emergency police number and discovered that this was a total scam that had been circulating for years. My sister called me on my church phone as I was pulling into my bank. I told the “sheriff” that I believed this was a scam, and he could send a deputy to pick me up if it was true. I drove home crying my eyes out and feeling like the most stupid person in the world. 😭
I have lectured my older church friends more than once about scams. I wrote about it on one of my dementia FB groups, and it has happened to many others. I knew caregiver brain was a real thing. I'm always so tired and stressed, that it literally turned off my rational brain, and in my panic for Joe, it could have cost us a lot of money! And now this low-life scum has my voice and full name on a recording, and God knows what he will do with that! So, be warned, my friends, that even if you think you are wiser than a scammer, it can still happen to you in a moment of weakness. Ugh!!! 🤬🤬
Now, let's pray for a better and much calmer day! I have my workout clothes on and plan to work out for some sweat and stress relief. Have a good day! 🙂
4 -
@TeresaW2024 - I'm sorry you were nearly scammed. I'm so glad you carry 2 phones, and your sister was able to reach you in time. May today be uneventful and give you some peace.
@baodell17724 - I think abstinence is appropriate when it's a trigger food. Trigger foods mean one is too many and ALL isn't enough. It helps to have a bright line drawn, so you stay on the safe side of that line. I've never done OA, but there's always something to be learned from a new perspective.
