@ashleycarole86 - Monday, August 18 - 5,167 steps - 1 hour of CrossFit … today looks more promising because the smoke isn't as bad this morning as it has been. Meaning, I should be able to make my morning walk.

@Gidgitgoescrzy - the buckling of the knee sounds like what has been happening to mine and I have a torn meniscus. If you really want an MRI, you should be able to convince your doctor it's a possible torn meniscus. When I had mine looked at, I went to the walk-in clinic. They referred me to an orthopedic specialist. She ordered an x-ray and palpated it. The x-ray was clean and she said all of my major ligaments felt strong. So, she was 99% sure it was a torn meniscus and offered an MRI to be 100% sure, but she also said that with the improvement it already made, that the likely course of treatment would be PT. Therefore, the MRI would just be to insure it was a torn meniscus, but the treatment after would be the same regardless if I had the MRI or not. I'm not sure if my experience will help you or not.

@Gidgitgoescrzy I would suggest asking for a referral to ortho. But typically insurance requires 6 weeks of treatment aka PT before they will cover the MRI.

    Steps update:

    14 Aug - 19477
    15 Aug - 16834
    16 Aug - 32143
    17 Aug - 18801
    18 Aug - 14203
    19 Aug - 13238

Last night I had a no wine night for the first time in weeks. I slept better and feel good for doing it and hope I have broken that little shameful streak! I wasn't getting hammered every night or anything, but it really does create all this knock-on negativity, I get lazy with eating, snack too much of an evening, sleep badly, don't want to get up, move less during the day, and it is wasted calories. I am actually proud of myself for maintaining these last few months, but I'm realistic that if it wasn't for the puppy and having to walk him, I'd be looking at a lot higher numbers on the scale than I am.

Ove the last month or so I cut back on my activities, following my husband's death I signed up for everything and anything, needing to stay busy all the time, and predictably burnt myself out. But spring is coming, the days are getting longer, and I need to start moving again, especially now that my toe is healed. Also - I have Singapore in a month and have a poor bar to wow! So I'm re-centring myself, and committing to doing things that are good for me and contribute to my positive mental and physical health.

@Gidgitgoescrzy you may also have a bit of inflammation in the knee which will show on the scale, which might be masking losses. I hope you get an MRI and some answers, good on you for strapping it up and going for it anyway!

@conleywoods those are some interesting insights, the blood sugar spike one and movement after eating especially. I know I tend to eat after movement, rather than before, I wonder if it would make a difference to switch it up…

@ MaddawgMadsen ugh, yeah smoke in the air can really knock you around. I'm not looking forward to heading back into bushfire season.

@ashleycarole86 The water weight gain with flying is ridiculous!! Even when I do all the right things on the plane, I'm still puffy as all hell for a few days after.

    @lauren_989 woot, great loss!!

Ok @lauren_989 … you are quietly just crushing it there!! Solidly in the 100s… nice loss this week!

@Alatariel75 Congrats on the wine free night. I have wine almost every day myself and I always pat myself on the back when I don't. Actually, last week I had a pretty long stretch without it - from Sunday to Thursday I think. I always enjoy it but once I have it then generally plans to do more active things do start going out the window.

Step update, and then the report will be coming soon!

    8/10 - 7736 steps + 31 minutes Peloton
    8/11 - 7698 steps + 31 minutes Peloton
    8/12 - 5056 steps
    8/13 - 7550 steps
    8/14 - 6873 steps
    8/15 - 11522 steps + 31 minutes Peloton
    8/16 - 14057 steps
    8/17 - 8992 steps
    8/18 - 3747 steps

Steps so far this week not as awesome as last. Time to “step” it up!!

I keep thinking I need to do something different with my diet. What I’m doing isn’t working. Idk if I need a new plan or what but motivation and me are not friends.

**Life Update: I apologize to my team but this past week has been really rough for me. I lost so much weight bc I have been sick with a nasty respiratory infection. My appetite has been very poor and I have been extremely weak. I finally went to see the doctor today so I am hoping to be back on track for next week. This month has not been very kind to me but I am managing to make the best out of a not-so-great situation. Sorry again 🫩…

@ whitfcan don't be sorry for that!! You need to look after you and get better! I hope you are on the mend.

@stephanodda I get like that sometimes, and will switch to a low carb plan or do a week of Whole30 just to get myself back in the mindset of being really mindful of what I'm eating.

@conleywoods I feel you on the mini-binge, I've had a few of those lately, and a couple not so mini, ugh. I'm just glad that the scale isn't punishing me terribly.

So big NSV news for me - for all my life since puberty, I have had ancillery accessory breast tissue, which is basically extra boob tissue in my armpits that looks like big fatrolls. I hate it, and I have never, ever worn sleeveless clothes because of it. I always promised myself that when I lost weight, and kept the weight off, I would look at having it removed. WELL. I had my surgical consult today and not only can I have it removed, and he is very confident of a great result, my health insurance is going to cover it and where I thought it was going to cost a motza, it's going to cost me stuff all! I'm so thrilled!!

I just need to go get a mamogram, just so they can say there's nothing wrong (and have booked one for next Monday), and then pick a date with his team! I'll need 2 weeks to recover so I'm thinking I'll put the pup in boarding for the first few days so he isn't jumping all over me, then I'll get a dog walker to come a couple times a day for the rest of the time. I'm also going to ask my momma to come stay with me for the first few days to hang out and take care of me.

I'm so excited for this - I have always hated this part of my body and it isn't just me being precious, they're really quite unsightly, and I'm doing something about it!!!

@Alatariel75 that is awesome!! I'm so glad insurance is covering it too! What a great reward for your hard work!

@whitfcan take care of yourself and feel better too!

@stephanodda diet is the hardest part for me. I exercise 4-5 times per week, but they say, you can't outrun your fork. You also want it to be sustainable. Don't be afraid to try something new! My hubby tried IF and it works great for him. Not me at all lol. I am trying to make it more like a game. I get so many calories, how much food can I get to eat within the limit. It has been working...most days 🫠

Gosh, lots of great stuff going on in Team WaistAways hideaway clubhouse den playroom :D. Even for those struggling, we're still striving. hugs, I see you, Yinka, Conley, Zan, Al, more! Ready for check-in tomorrow, I'm not going to miss like I did in July :p.

Al, your comment about spring coming made me realize you must be in the southern hemisphere. Fun think about spring and summer on the way! I'm starting to smell fall in the air, here in Maine.

I've had my fingers, eyeballs, nose, and hands buried in a Bingo game I've been playing with the structure for, on and off, for a few months. Tying it into a goal-categories tracker idea from another place, and a freggie tracker I built to track my Hogwarts Unbreakable Vow, that I'd like to tie in, as well. Something about fall always feels like a time to get after it, for me.

Anyone have any interest in a little intra-mural Bingo board - goal plucking with me, come September? We could have a unified spreadsheet, with a built-out individual page for each member of our team to curate, personalize, organize, play with. The idea is, you flesh out your own (three) monthly Bingo Boards with whatever goals you really want to (or think you can) accomplish. I love crossing off lists, so it definitely rings my bell ;-).

And then the below-bingo-section, other color-coded section, is built out thematically to four goal areas, building on another teammate's 2025 Vision Verse that includes Power goals (exercise), Self-Discipline goals (nutrition), Love goals (Self-improvement, self-help), and Other / Joy goals (for things that take longer than a week, or are aspirational or meaningful things for you, etc etc. I absolutely loved the theme and color scheme she built, and I expanded it, with Chat GPT's help, to cover 12 weeks of vision verse themes in the same vein.

It's a couple weeks 'til the new Board starts (I'm mid-summer-5-wk interim break board right now), but you know, it could be fun. Maybe. Possibly. lmk what you guys think :D. ~ mk :)

@mkksemail Do you have pictures of the bingo board idea? I like it!

@Alatariel75 Yay! I'm so excited for you. I think most of us have some particular thing that we focus on like that. Even if others don't notice it. Really happy for you. Things like that can have a major impact on us.

Sure, conley! Well, you can look at my board I'm using for August. I was thinking of the same idea as this spreadsheet, with a page for each of us to work on, with a front page showing summaries for all of us, in terms of Bingo pts, not individual goal boards. But we could do something with the goal boards too, if someone has a creative idea.

I love the Bingo boards, I've been working on this structure on and off for a few months, whenever my BLC team's weekly challenge featured a Bingo board (which was quite often, lol). When I check off a box, it colors itself in, not just the big board where I make notes and plot and plan, and stuff, but the tinier snapshot board above it, too. If you look on my page, you can see I have quite a few squares left to do, and less than 2 weeks to do it in :p. (The weeks start on Wednesdays there).

The boards is totally turtle themed, lol, but that's because my other team has a turtle mascot :D.

You can see the goal theme color boards, I got the idea from my teammate beachy's page. I just loved the whole idea of it, the colors, the focus areas, all of it.

I'm still working on formulas to tally the goal boards. But I can make either blank boards for all of us, or boards with some formulas pre-programmed in (and folks would just have to customize for their own goals, obvs, lol).

I think it could be fun if we all worked on bingo boards, and goal sheets together! :)

    Cheers ~ mk :)

So I bought Beyond Body last night and I think the only thing I’m probably going to get out of it is some good recipe ideas. No community aspect & can only log their meals I think. Still playing with it. Anyone ever try it?

Im declaring all processed and packaged food off limits. (Again.) Calling today a new day one and going to try my darndest to stick to it.

Why is this shtuff so dang hard!? (Idk if we can curse here 😜).

I was hoping for better, I've been doing really well this week !

So I went to the PT yesterday, she had me there FOREVER, I must have done every single move possible. It's not my knee, it's my ankle..The pain has mostly gone away, I still have what feels like a pulled muscle in my upper shin to the left of my knee, but it hasn't buckled in a while. She is researching treatments for me, because she seemed to not be sure if I should work on more stretching, or less.

    Have a great day !

@conleywoods It's so frustrating when the scale doesn't move! Your daily affirmation is great, I may copy that 😊

@whitfcan oh no I hope you're able to rest up and feel better soon.

    @Gidgitgoescrzy & @Alatariel75 yay you're in the green!

@stephanodda figuring out what's right for your body can be soooo frustrating. I love that you're not giving up though, you WILL find what works for you! I'm not familiar with Beyond Body, but I know that reducing processed foods is a great idea!

@mkksemail the bingo board idea sounds really interesting! I would probably enjoy that 😊

@lauren_989 wow that takes major dedication to skip the wine! Go you! Also love the nsv 😄

I'm somewhat caught up now! Each time I tried to check in this week I got interrupted and forgot, sorry team. I have been logging everything I eat though and I'm really happy with how that's going. Getting outside has been easier and more enjoyable this week as it has cooled down quite a bit. Fall is in the air here, which is bittersweet for me. I have to get ready for work now but I'll try to check in later!
