    ....hills are your friends.

The kind of friend that tells you if your breath is bad.

    LOL!!!

Actially I already know that - I have ashama. So yes, running is just a laugh a gasping minute. Living a mile up just doesn't help at all. Running in Atlanta felt so easy compared to here. I actually wasn't gasping for air when I was running there two summers ago.

So do I. Running has definitely improved my symptoms, well, so has losing weight, but I still have to use my rescue inhaler before I do speedwork. Even then, there's an upper limit on my speed before my breath starts getting ragged. It's probably saved me from injury. I lived in Boulder for a couple months when I was a teen. Couldn't imagine what running there would be like - I felt high all the time as it was.

4.6 today, bringing me to 45.1.

Best foliage day EVER complete with sunset and many swan still in the pond. Gorgeous. Took a turn on a side trail just to chance the sunset a bit more.

    Love that!

Did another 4.1 miles last night with the running group. Well...they did 3, I did 4.1. Picked up the pace a bit last night at the end so feeling it this morning, but I love this feeling.

NROL4W tonight.....gots to makes the muscles, ya know.

I got me a pair or fugly running gloves. They are salmon pink and black and the ugliest things I have ever seen. But they have pockets on the top of the hand that you can put disposable hand warmers in, and the ugly color will make it so that no one will want to steal them lol.

It was cold. I'd just eaten. I had so much sinus drainage that I couldn't stop coughing and spitting and I started too fast (because it felt so good) so, with everything else, my breathing was ragged. I gave it up. Some runs weren't meant to be.

    Oct 24: Week 4, Day 1 of program 2.7 miles Strava: http://www.strava.com/activities/91069823

Total Miles To Date: 20.3 / 9.7 to 30 mile goal

Well - it was harder. I made it through the first 3 minutes, made it through the 5 minutes, made it the next 3 (thinking these are easy), half way into the 2nd 5 minute session and I had to stop for a few seconds to catch my breath. I ran around the park again rather than run up the hill. I figured smart and ease into it than trying to be hard core about it. Or else I'm a chicken. This is the first day and I already think I'll be repeating this week again.

I hear you on this one. Luckily, those runs are far and few between. We're awesome just for getting out there and running.

Yesterday's run was hard on me. Tai-chi class really worked my thigh muscles the night before; they felt fine yesterday afternoon but once I started running they complained......the whole time.....but I didn't stop and ran 6K!

I think I've bailed on three runs total. Heat, injury and this last one. I probably would have started too fast if I hadn't just got my butt kicked so soundly, so it was probably for the best.

I bailed on my long run yesterday. I woke up and just wasn't feeling it. I even got up and started to put things on thinking that it would shake off, but it didn't. So took a day break. I would have worked out every day last week, so I think it was my body telling me to take a break lol.

So everyone....quick little fun challenge for the last bit of the month. Think of a place you like to visit or a place you frequent that is about the distance from how far you have traveled this month, and share it with us.

I have ran to Graceland and ran back. (Graceland is 20 miles from my house)

    So far:
    2-Oct 3.1 miles total: 3.1
    5-Oct 5.5 miles total: 8.6
    7-Oct 2.4 miles total: 11 miles
    10-Oct 3.1 miles total: 14.1 miles
    11-Oct 2 miles total: 16.1 miles
    14-Oct 2 miles total: 18.1 miles
    16-Oct 3.1 miles total: 21.2 miles
    18-Oct 2 miles total: 23.2 miles
    20-Oct 2 miles total: 25.2 miles
    23-Oct 3.1 miles total: 28.3 miles
    25-Oct 3.1 miles total: 31.4 miles

As far as Becky's idea, so far this has gotten me from my house into Washington DC. I am planning another 6.2 miles before the month ends, so I'll reach the National Air & Space Museum. That's a fun place to visit.

Just took the time to add up all my runs from the month and I ran exactly 50 miles (including warm-up and cool down). I ran to Eureka Springs and back!

If you throw in the cycling (250 miles), I made it into Texas on my trip to see my daughter, which is over half way!

    Fun idea!
I've been keeping track of my miles (walking & running) on RunningAHEAD. So far this month, I've travelled 117Km (my goal is 120). I've run at least 2/3 of that, probably more.
This means that I have run from Port Coquitlam to Chiliwack and back home OR I have run almost to Hope (133Km from home). According to milemeter.com, I am currently at a junction on the highway with an option to go right to Hope or left along the TransCanada Highway, through the Fraser Canyon.
That's amazing when it's put in perspective like this.

For me I'll need to include tomorrow's 5.5 mile and Thursday's 3 mile run to get to 47 miles. So by the end of the month, I will have run the distance from home to Grant Park in Chicago where I will run the Hot Chocolate 5k on Sunday. Sounds rather fitting to me

That is so profoundly true. Every day you've run will have gotten you to that start line. Every step you've taken will propel you to the finish.

That's what I keep thinking about as I run/walk my way through the program. I won't make the 30 miles by the end of October but every run has gotten me closer.

Oct 27: Week 4, Day 2 of program: 2 miles Strava:

Total Miles To Date: 22.3 / 7.7 to 30 mile goal

I actually track steps for all my activities plus bike rides and with that I'm at 174 miles for the month. Not bad to date.

That would be a run to Tunica, MS and back for me. That is a long ways.

Today was a very painful 3 miles at lunch. First run since my cold set in. Thought I was feeling better, BUT....

In any event, now at 48.1. Need one more run this month and I'm there!

That would bring me to the top of Sleeping Giant and back. Cool, since we hiked up as a family for the first time last weekend (though we drove to the base and didn't run there:)).

    Haven't updated in a while...

I've done over 26.75 miles. Nine of those miles was during one run with no breaks! Since then, I've restarted C25K (on October 23rd) and most of those miles are since then. I got bored with running after finishing C25K. When I first started it in August, I was anxious to run before and after work. But, that feeling went away after I finished. Now, I've gotten back into the habit of running after work and in the mornings. Now, I just have to start biking again.

I have to have a race and a training plan to stay motivated. Good job on the mileage!

I looked at a map yesterday and there wasn't anywhere interesting for me to run to. I guess I'll just have to keep running. :)
