Noon Hour Swim. 1200m. 3 x 400m , Front, Back and Breast. They have lowered the Temperature of the pool so I no longer feel Cooked after 400 m.

    200 back

    Tuesday: 2.5km 57 min
    Today: 2.5 km 55ish min
Nice to have a watch counting the laps, alongside my mental count. The only problem is when you have kids swimming widthwise and interrupting, forcing me to stop, it's counted as a new lap when I restart swimming, even though I stopped midway through a lap.

AQ, kids swimming widthwise?? How does that safely work? I thought gutzy's China pictures were nuts. I am increasingly grateful for my pool's dedicated lap times and lanes. On weekdays after school/work, they are quite limited, but there is no monkey business, just lap swimming. I applaud your efforts if you continue to get a workout in with kids going back and forth!

Forgot to post yesterday - did 2km. This morning was 2.5km - 1km crawl, 250 back, 250 breast, 500 mixed drills, 500 crawl.

In the pool yesterday a new swim class was taking place - lots of fast swimmers taking up the middle lane doing different drills and sprints. The instructor told me it was a new free class which will take place every Thursday am - I may join in next week and warned the instructor that I would be by far the slowest person though.....

    A very hard 2.5km in 57 min
This was one of the swims that was difficult right from the first length.
I swim to a playlist set to a fixed tempo to maintain a specified stroke rate - today the music sounded like it was running at 1.5 to 2 times the normal speed. That's how tough it felt.
Just glad I made it through - took all I had not to just call it quits halfway!
This was the opposite of what I felt yesterday!

    Hey there Curly!
Yeah it depends on which of the 2 or 3 pools I tend to use, I end up on on any given day of the week and time.
Sometimes I'll come to a pool and they'll have kids and adults having swim lessons and swimming widthwise. Given my usual swim times (early morning and late evening), this isn't usually an issue but sometimes it is.
Of course when you have kids in their, they'll see you coming and wait till the last possible moment, then try and swim across before you get there (which of course doesn't happen), and you end up crashing in the middle of the pool. Always happens when I find kids in the pool! No matter how much I switch lanes, they just gravitate towards me, so I can crash into them.
The irritating thing is the miscount that results in my Garmin when his happens!

I got my hour in before class today. It made for a less intense workout in class!

Swam at a meet yesterday. Won my age group but very disappointed with my times - all well over my best times. The only good part was surviving swimming the 400m IM - did it in 6.31 which wasn't too bad. Since it was the first time I've ever swum that event it was an instant personal best - the only one of the meet for me!

Free class - I know - normally swim classes are always paid for but if gym I use can do all sorts of other classes as part of their package (grid, spin etc) then its about time there was a swim class that wasn't aqua aerobics!!!

Did 3.5Km yesterday - had to stop as the "not free" classes started and the remaining lanes got to crowded.

I was wondering how your meet went. Well done for the 400IM, that is such a tough event.
Today I particpated in a swimathon with some of my teammates. It was an 8-hour swim and each member of the team could do either 1 30-minute swim, 3 15-minute swims or 1 30-minute and 1 15-minute swim. I did 2 15-minute swims, 900meters each. Not too bad, was hoping for better.
It was fun though and a low pressure swim for my first masters event in 5 years....

@emmab0902 Well Done Lady. Due to an old partial Shoulder Separation I can't even try the Butterfly or to many lengths of Backstroke.
Shoulders are a little tender from Curling on Friday so no swimming today.

No swimming today as did another 3.5km yesterday. 3km of this was continuous but I was disappointed as this took almost 1 hour and 5 minutes which is 5 minutes slower that I had hoped for. Nevermind. Anyway, shoulder was a little sore overnight so decided on an extra sleep this morning so had a rest day.

Snow and shoveling requirements combined with work commitments mean no swim today. I am vexed.

Wow, gutzy!! Awesome! That is some distance.
Nuffer, that must have felt great. All the way to the end before a cramp!! Whoop!
I snuck a half mile in before class tonight. I'm working on getting in the water earlier, which will give me more lap time, plus the cardio class.

    That is incredible.

After laps tonight, my buddy told me about an open water event in Lake Washington in July that goes between the two floating bridges. A little over three miles. He said they recommend being able to do 5000 pool yards in 1:45. Would be great to work up to doing that. www.fatsalmonswim.com

2.5km free in 50 minutes. The pool was too crowded to do drills, but I did manage a cool down of back and breast for 300m to finish off.
