@MightyLolo - it is rather addictive and do take care of your shoulder. Good luck at the new job!

VERY addictive; lol. I ADORE moving in water. But also, I have goals. I seriously want to 'get good', especially at...well, everything but breast stroke, I guess, heh.
It's important enough to me that I'm seriously considering this switch from my $19/month Gold's Gym membership, to the $184/month "athletic club"...they don't just have a pool; they have a masters team, and coaching. you know?
I know people who don't get my priorities...I don't waste my Senior Games dreams on them; I just give them a cold-eyed, "Fitness is not a luxury." :smirk:

Talking to the Life Guards Yesterday there was 1 lane swimmer. Today being fathers day - all the dads must have had hall passes. 15 swimmers and 3 dble lanes.
Me and 3 in the fast lane, 5 in the middle lane, 6 in the slow lane.
At least we were speed matched so it actually worked out for a decent swim. Crawl and more crawl 2000m. It was all members of the local - Triathlon group. Near the end of the swim the one lady and myself starting tag team drafting one of our co-members/friends as a joke without him realizing it and we were laughing as he kept complaining that he felt slow and heavy. We did tell him at the end of the swim and he had a good laugh with us.

    2050m

    250 warmup
    4x 100 back on 2.10
200 free no breathing past/until flags off walls
    4x 100 free breathe 2/3/4/5 by 25 (hate on 4!!)
    2x 250 as 100 back/50 fly/100 breaststroke
    200 IM
    100 easy

Didn't enjoy this. Felt yuk in the water and sluggish.

Nice work, @Robertus. I envy your pace.

And @emmab0902, there is zero envy for that suit. It sounds horrible!

@emmab0902 Had the mental image of your struggle with the Racing Swimsuit and wasn't sure if I should :p or :'(

    1800m Triathlon Club.
    200m Front Crawl Warm up

4 x 50m Heads Up Front Crawl, Concentrate on long Stroke with emphasis on end of stroke.
4 x 50m long Dog Paddle-Heads Up. emphasis on overall length of stroke
200m Front crawl - Counting strokes on odd lengths to maintain constant Avg strokes/length.
    Repeat 600m set above

400m Timed Front Crawl. 9:40. 26 seconds better than 2 weeks ago. Especially since it was done at the end of the set when I had already completed 1400m and not the start of the set when I was fresh.

Either would probably have been suitable.

    2600m

    400 warmup

    4x 400 as 2 free, 1 IM, 1 back

    8x 50 kick

4x 50 double armed backstroke to warmdown

Have never swum 400 back before - did it in 6.15 which I was happy with for a cruising pace.

I swam 3km last session and was completely stoked, this is the most I've swum in about 10 years! I hit my normal 2.5k mark and the shoulder wasn't as sore as it normally is at that point so I thought to myself I might as well try for 250m more, and then at that point the 3k mark was only 250m away and I thought I could definitely do that! I rewarded myself with a spa afterwards. Hopefully now I can make it a goal to do 3k consistently.

Been a hectic past couple days. Brought my mother to RDU to go up and visit the rest of the family. Then home to help my wife prepare for eye surgery the next day.
Yesterday was her eye surgery day.
Finally got back in the pool today. 5000 yards this morning. Planning another 6000 after work. Haven't done a 10km day in a while.

@emmab0902 Not saying that I am a slow pokey swimmer but your 400 back is 3:30 faster than my Front Crawl. You don't want to see my backstroke time which is even slower. My excuse I have only been actively swimming for 3 1/2 years.

You are not slow!! You do amazing sessions and we all have different histories in the pool and different goals.

This is so amazing, particularly after your break with bronchitis. I am not sure I can wrap my mind around 10,000 meter days. I have flash backs to when I was young and doing lots of yardage (meterage) when I was young. I am very impressed. :)

Having a splendid first week at my new job (and still wrapping up my old job, in the evenings)...don't even know when I'll get another swim in, but hoping for Saturday. Meanwhile, I wanted to say Hi.

Last Night of Triathlon Swim Club. 8/10 showed up.
    200m Front Crawl warm-up
4x25m Kick with board Alternate Fast/Slow lengths. Instructional Break between lengths.
4x25m Kick Alternate Superman pose on breath / Alternate Fast/Slow Lengths.
4x25m Front Crawl - Holding Superman pose for 6 kicks ( long and lean )
2 minute Rest and Instructional Break
750m Timed - Front Crawl for Sprint Triathlon. 18:04, 3rd. 40 seconds faster than last year.

It was a great Club/Coaching session. I am going to miss it and we were working hard to persuade the pool to offer another one - even if it is a mini-session before the August triathlon.

5km today. 4 miles yesterday. Thunderstorms passing through yesterday wrecked my plan for a second swim. We will see what today brings for a second swim chance.

3800 yards 80 minutes...man, I knew there was a reason I swam during the week. Weekends are filled with lessons and less lap lanes. Yes, I am becoming the crochety lap swimmer.

No but yesterday was a great example of what goes around comes around.

My new thing has been going early to training on a Saturday, so that I can cheer on the small people in the learn to swim classes. Everyone needs encouragement, whether you're a beginner or an expert. It costs me nothing, and the smiles on their little faces are priceless.

Today when I arrived, my son was disgruntled that he and his friend couldn't play soccer like usual while I swam, as there were some adults having a kick around.

When I finished, I came outside to two very happy boys, who had been invited to join in and have a game with the big guys.
