    1000m

mix of front crawl and breaststroke and a lot of breaks.
Back to pool after tooth out last week - such fun. But felt so good, even after a week of no swimming!! Tis crazy how much your swimming muscles just fade after a few days!!

Forgot this was the last swim of the month so time to check in on my distance goal of swimming 100 miles in 2018. Might try to stretch it to be 150 miles if I can keep up this momentum!

1600m. Substitute Coach and he didn't like the plan drawn up by the main coach as it was all over the place.
Had a 2000m pyramid @25m increments with a differant stroke/kick combination on every cycle. Nasty

    The New Plan
200m Warm-up - 50m Free, Pull, Breast, Choice kick drill ( Single Leg kick with Fin on static leg )

200m Streamline Kick 25m alt Dolphin/Flutter all on back. Arch back & stronger kick to keep from sinking
    100m Streamline Kick 25m alt Flutter/Breast - Face down

    15 sRi
200m Free swim Build tempo. Body Roll to make stroke longer and hard finish at end of stroke.
    100m @ 5 stroke/Breath.
    100m Victor Davis Breast - 3 Fast 3 Slow
100m Single leg kick - make it POP and splash the roof

    3 x 100m Free
    Slow > Fast Build
    Dist/Stroke
    Fast > Slow

    50m Kick
50m Back - to change up the arm loading
    100m Fundamental 2 arm Backstroke
    100m easy Cool down

That was a lot of kick for me - a good impromptu set.

mix of front crawl and breaststroke around circuit class.

Woohoo! swim circuits class was ace! so glad I got back to it and he ran it just for me haha. Pull ups and squat jumps then swim down to end underwater. repeat 5 times. Then some glide work and then some sprints. Last time I timed my 25m sprint it was 21 seconds. This morning........19!! woohoo!!

Not been working on underwater stuff for a while now, so that killed me a bit, but it felt so awesome to be back doing the different stuff.

Great to see so many swimmers. No one else in my family swims for exercise so its good to get inspired here. Today I swam for 60 min. 300m warm up & cool down, 750 m freestyle, 400 m back crawl, 100 m breast stroke, 50 m legs only. I finished with stomach crunches, bicycling, jumping jacks & cross country skiing in the deep end to stretch out.

1800m this morning in what I discovered was a 30m pool. Sandwiched by a 5.4km round trip walk to the pool - which sadly was uphill coming back! Am in Nelson for the 3km ocean swim on Saturday, staying with an awesome friend who I hadn't seen in 9 years!

    3150m

    1200m before masters
200m kick - half with fins, trying to work on my kick, which apparently sucks
    3x100 free fast
    4x50 - 25 drill/25 free
    4x50 - 25 no breath (ahahahaha, no, 3 breathes)/25 swim)
    Ladder:
    • 50 fast back stroke
    • 100 fast free
    • 150 back 50 moderate/50 fast/50 moderate
    • 200 free breathe 3,5,3,5
    • 250 stretch it out (which I assume is the same as reach/distance per stroke? probably should have asked but the coach wasn't around when I got to this section)
    • 150 breast 50 moderate/50 fast/50 moderate
    • 100 free easy
    • 50 breast easy

And today was actually the last swim of the month, so revised totals:

    March total: 25,200m
    Year to date: 53,994m/33.6 miles

@emmab0902 I always wonder how so many pools got built to Non-Standard lengths. I could understand 25 x 30, 25 x 35 (with a 10m diving area) or 25 x 50. I guess that is what happens when the Building/construction committee does not have a contingent of swimmers on it. Our pool the water slide catch pool dumps it's water back into the Top of the shallow end creating a strong sideways current. They could have put it in with the overflow spilling into the bottom of the pool eliminating the issue.
So are you now addicted to the open water?? Now we just need to find you a modest entry level road bike and can we say Sprint Tri-Athlon?? That Nelson is a beautiful part of your Country. Enjoy it and the visit with your friend.

Noon he splash yesterday, normally it would be 15-20 people crowding the 3 lanes available. Yesterday 4 people. :)
A glorious lane all to myself. Really not used to that so in 30 minutes I had completed my planned routine and had to add some in.
    150m Warmup, free, breast, back
    2 x 100m single leg kick
    2 x 25, 50, 75, 100, 75 , 50, 25 10 sRi free
    100 Back
    100 Breast
Added in a 2nd single leg kick set
    2 x 100
    200 easy cooldown

I did it. Swam 2 miles. Gutzy, five seems like forever! I had extra time today and the pool was quiet, so I went for it. Probably won’t happen again for a while, but I was proud. Did the water x class after that and very nearly couldn’t walk, lol...

3km ocean swim event today. Conditions were good but still felt a L-O-N-G way!! Happy with my time of 43:31 and first place in my age group.

    Great work, emma! Impressive!
I'm always impressed by the hard work in this group. All ages, abilities, distances and speeds, but everybody keeps showing up. It's really motivating to me.

Got my mile and a quarter in this morning. I tweaked my neck shortly after waking up, so I wasn't sure how today was going to go, but I made it through. Spent some time in the hot tub afterward, but it's still sore. Dang! All I was doing was brushing my teeth!! :confounded:
