Last night 1200y in 30 minutes. Finally back in the pool last week after more than four months off. Have worked back to where I was at that point, and should be doing my usual mile plus in another week or so. Hard to believe how quickly the speed and distance goes away. Have taken ten seconds/100y off my pace in a week, but it's been a struggle. Winter swim is so awesome. I've missed it!2

Also, great job everyone. I didn't scroll through everything, but did catch that @fishgutzy did an amazing ten mile swim -- wow!1

Still waiting. for our pool to finish maintenance cycle.0 -
Welcome back, @nuffer ! That must have felt soooo good! Speed and distance seem to slide off a cliff for me, but they also return pretty well if I've kept my conditioning up, which I suspect you do. You'll be back before you know it. If I bothered to put up a profile, it would look remarkably similar to yours (the kids in college, the 1 & 2 mile goals, the sausages hanging up! ). I reached my 2-mile goal last spring, getting my body ready to climb Mt. St. Helens here in the PNW. I tried to get a 2-mile swim in once a week, with the distance for my "regular" swim increasing to a mile + .5. I'm hoping to keep up longer distances over winter when it's hard to get to the pool because it's dark and cold, and my house is warm and cozy.
3300y yesterday. I didn't want to swim that far, but I just used the time I had before the deep water cardio class, and that's where I got. I slept SO deeply.2 -

Hang in there. It will be clean and beautiful and ready for you. And it will feel great!0 -
1350y in 35 minutes tonight. Seems to be many more people doing evening swim this year. We'll see if they're still coming out in December when it's 40 degrees and raining hard
Nice work on that 3300y, @girlwithcurls21 -

"It's just what I do" has gotten me to the pool more times than I care to remember. It's my little piece of self-talk that sits on my shoulder when the voice on the other shoulder is saying, "You don't have to go, you know..." Nope. It's just what I do. I start the day with the best of intentions. Making it part of my day/weekly routine helps me stick to those intentions.
Report back and tell us how your swim was. Even a lousy swim counts toward building the habit!!3 -
Rest day on Sunday. Pool was closed at the gym on the holiday yesterday.
Swimming tonight after work.
I really have to limit processed foods. Too much salt. Gained some water weight the last couple days.
Melt it off in the pool tonight.0 -

I know the feeling.
I had many month long Coma trips withno swimming at all until they finally found a pool for me. Sux bad.
Swimming is an essential part of my physical and mental health. I know many in here feel the same.1 -
I don't know which came first, the grumps or the lack of motivation. Either way, rearranged things to be able to go today. My first mile done. 😎2

it gets to the point where it doesn't matter which came first doesn't it? I know that if I ever feel like not swimming, it can be a sign of the grumps, but sometimes I miss the sign if other factors like tiredness/scheduling issues creep in.
nicely done on the mile!2 -

Great job getting it done!!! I have seen a pattern of my own that usually start with no motivation, talking myself out of going (I'm a grown up. I don't have to if I don't want to.), talking myself back into it (Just drive there. Get out of the car. Just get 10 laps in. Then you can sit in the hot tub.), until finally just going, and then going, going, going, and having one of my best swims. Admittedly, it's probably due to my mental state and incredibly low expectations for the day
Remember what Dory said in "Finding Nemo," Just Keep Swimming!!1 -
6.6km last night. Flushed out the water weight gain from too much processed crap food over the weekend.
