I swam. After viewing Chloe Sutton's YouTube butterfly video again, doing some more drills and swimming full stroke, I'm getting it. I've had this feeling before, when I got into the pool a day later and swam like a stone! I hope it means a bit more now.

I swam! 25 yards of everything and then a bit more!

They said they were talking about oil when they said, "drill, baby, drill" I know they were telling me to clean up my strokes!

    Drill, baby, drill!

5.5km last night. That was shortly after arriving in Shanghai. First time I swam the day I arrived.
Today is the 5th of the month. Pool closed for cleaning today.
    Two weight room sessions instead.

Swam for an hour before the Monday cardio class. He busted out the intervals today. Arms and core might not be at 100% tomorrow 💪

It was a very warm pool today so everyone was on a 5-10 lengths cycle and then stop to cool down. The heat really sucks the energy out of you.
1000m of mixed bag depending on what others were doing, free, breast and back mixed together to limit conflicts/passing etc.

3100 yards today. Same workout as yesterday, but I lost track on two sets and swam an extra lap on each.

So the New Year resolution was to get back to a weekly swim,..

Hello again everyone whom I know from old - its good to catch up on your swimming news - and hi to the ‘new to me’ swimmers.

Had to dust off the resolution - as Jan/Feb disappeared to a virus.

But Monday I made it - yay - just a gentle 30 mins (and a very steep but happily short cycle ride up the hill home!) to ease back in.

Can’t honestly say I enjoyed it much. (And I am way off my old ‘speeds’ let alone remembering fly arm timing!)

But I got wet. And I made it up the hill,,, Pleased aboit both!

Not 3800m, not even close to that impressive high intensity workout

    1600m
    warmup
    100 pull, 100 kick, 100 scull

pull/catch drills with paddles (they irritate my left hand where I broke it back in 1988)
    2 x 50 - 5 stroke breathing ie long and slow pulls
    2 x 50 - 4 str brth
    2 x 50 - 3 str brth
2 x 50 - 2 str brth - faster turn over concentrate on inter-stroke glide and keeping the hand square to the pull motion so no water slips off the side

    2x
25m breast with 3 Dolphin kicks after each stroke
50m 6 kick switch backstroke - exaggerate the bodyroll
100m free - concentrate on the catch & pull with power right to the end of the stroke
50m Victor Davis Breast stroke 3 slow 3 fast - concentrate on hard pull and big solid kick
    25m free with dolphin kick

    4 x 50m @ 1:30
5 beat Streamline Dolphin Rotisserie with fins.
5 on back, 5 on side, 5 on front, 5 std, 5 on side.
On one of the side to back rolls I got in a down angle and just kept on going down and couldn't get turned back up. Dropped out of streamline and swam back to the surface. Was a challenging drill to just rotate 90 degrees rather than the normal front/back flip.

    200m easy choice cool down.

Definitely feeling the legs, 7km run Monday, 8 min kick set Tuesday, 6km run yesterday plus today's drills and my legs are waving the white flag.

One of the guys in the swim group just got back from Youth Provincials in Calgary. His 14 yr old son had a good meet. Usually they swim in the events they have provincial std qualifying times from previous meets. He had 12 qualifications over differant distances/events so was able to pick and choose what he wanted. Since he kept qualifying for the finals in events they didn't get home until 2am Monday morning, would have been a hard day at work for the parents and school for the lad.
    50m free 28:46 for gold
    50 fly 31:?? for silver
    100 breast silver
    100 free silver
These qualified him for nationals next week in Edmonton.

Short swim yesterday. Didn't keep track of laps or time. Just swam. I'm having a hard enough time getting to the pool these days. I'm not going to make it more work for myself. Getting in the water is victory. (Heck, driving to the pool is...)

Hey, GWC2. TEN MINUTES in a pool is a winner!
I never count laps. I mark my time, yes, because MFP gives me information based on that and not laps. If I pause between laps, I'll stop my watch and restart just before I push off. Unlike some, I feel great after swimming well, not far or long. I always give myself a reason to feel good by swimming the last lap easy and relaxed, keeping a focus on technique. 😎

1km ocean race this morning. Decided that wasn't long enough so did 2500m in the pool after lunch. Going out for dinner with my daughter tonight so figured more metres equals more food lol.

@girlwithcurls2 As @kayak4water said basic time in the pool is more important than stressing over exactly how many laps you do.

    I have 2 3 types of swims.

Family & Friends lots of Water slide tests, Inner tube Water polo, etc.

Straight lane swim - try to get 40 lengths in but quite often I lose count - its usually during lunch hour so time restricted I gets what I get.

Adult Swim Club - the ones where you see me post more details about what drills we did and what I was working on - I keep the detailed notes as a reference so I can build some of my own workout sets during the summer when the Adult Swim club is replaced by Summer Swim Camps and lessons for children since they are not in school.

Short swim after lifting. I aim for about 15 laps after lifting (knowing I could do more, but being a total pansy about it because I have jelly arms and legs from lifting). I decided to keep going tonight to see what it would feel like. Left after 25 laps because it’s Friday night and I was hungry, but felt surprisingly good after about 15-20. I’m going to have to change my post-lift minimum, me thinks...
