@juliet3455 Mondays are always the most crowded weekdays in the pool, followed by Weds, at least where I live. Tuesdays and Thursdays tend to be more quiet and Fridays, one never quite knows.

Got cut 12 laps short of 4 miles this morning. One of the swim team kids managed to smash face to pool bottom and bled in the pool. That is an automatic 30 to 60 minute pool closure.
And I was in a good rhythm too.

    4000 yard @ 80 minutes.

@fishgutzy Read the article and watched the video...I may play around with it, but it looks like a stroke technique drill that I do that helps me increase my efficiency, but it messes with my breathing rhythm. I am glad it helped you as that is a significant drop in time! Well done!

The drill part is to work the kinks out. Sort of like the catch up drill is to help work out the reaching and keeping the lead hand out until the other catches up. Then working it into the lap swimming routine until it become more natural. Breaking old habits.

@fishgutzy I had forwarded that link to a few friends in the Adult Swim Club and they really liked it, especially when they had the Head on underwater comparisons of all 3 strokes, the similarities were surprising. Even the instructor in the Adult Swim Club wants to see it.

As @emmab0902 once said " so much kick "

Adult Swim Club December session 1700m

    Warm-up 100m Fr, 50m kick, 50m Ch drill

60 Stroke Time and Distance x3. Setting the bench mark ( for the newbies) at the start of the session to compare to the end. 58-59m @ 1:05:75 - 1:07:25.
So very consistent length-stroke ratios. Need to try some different variations to improve M/Stroke. ie Easy 25, Hard 25; Increase Kick speed etc.

Descending SI Kick Set. Increase Speed & Decrease RI each 25m.
    5 x 25m @ 50s, 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s Fr
    5 x 25m @ 50s, 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s Bk
    5 x 25m @ 50s, 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s Fr
    5 x 25m @ 50s, 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s Dolphin ( Fins on )
    5 x 25m @ 50s, 45s, 40s, 35s, 30s Fr ( fins still on )

Added another 50m of Dolphin with fins while waiting for 2 others to complete this session
Did it underwater until I needed O2 then surfaced and went back down. Surfaced twice on each 25m. 35s per 25m. Abs will probably scream at me tomorrow :)

    Backstroke
    3 x 50m 6 kick switch
    2 x 50m Single arm
2 x 50m Soldier Arm ( never pull - just swing from Hip to Pull position & back to Hip above water)
4 x 50m Descending stroke count. ( Swim first 25m Easy then 2 less strokes for each 25m or 50m when you are starting to tire = Faster swim )

    100m Cool down -choice.

Anytime we would get ahead of the others in the club we would add in 50m of a CHoice Drill/swim. So I usually have an extra 100-200m above the official set list. Some have even more than that. A good session.

    4 miles.
Pretty empty today. Had the pool to myself for a while.
The coach of the HS coach of the team that swims at 6AM said 77 degrees was too cold to allow the kids to swim. Ridiculous.
7Am team didn't show either but probably because they have a meet today.

I don't know if I could swim that slowly for 25m. 50s? I'm trying to get to 50s per 50 yards, but sustainable for at least 2000 yards rather than an all out short sprint.

@fishgutzy That was a Kick set. The 50s time is Swim Interval ( SI ) + Rest Interval ( RI ) therefore every time the clock decreases the RI also decreases. I can't make the 35/30s kick times since by the time I get to them I am starting to fade and that is closer to my swim time, so I just give myself 5s RI then turn and burn for the next 25m. The idea is to try and push yourself as hard as you can.

4000 yards @ 80 minutes. Oddly crowded today, but I apparently had the 'please share with someone else' vibe going on and greedily had my land to myself.

@juliet3455 Yeah, our pool usually stays between 82 and 85 and on the 85 days I am dying from the heat.

4000 yards @ 78 minutes. I switched up so I did 1000 yards pulling and I could feel it later in the workout. I am glad I have a couple of days off to recover. :) Happy Friday everyone!

Attempting to picture swimming without eating. I'm failing at that exercise.
Had a couple of PRs for short (100y and 200y) distances this week. The water has been pretty cold and it helps to hit the first laps hard to get the blood flowing. There's a chance of swimming in the snow in a couple of days. Hope that happens!

    Take care of yourself @emmab0902

@nuffer - serious dedication to swim outdoors in the snow. I may end up walking through the snow to get to nice warm indoor pool, but not the same...nope!

First major cold snap and snowfall for this winter = Crowded Pool. Looked like a January 2nd crowd not an early December crowd. Slotted into the Middle Lane and did circles with the pack. 250m Fr, 250m Br, 250m Bk, 250m Br, 250m Fr. The water was quite warm so made it hard to keep the tempo up.
