Got a swim in today, finally! I threw in some sprint 50's and I was taken by surprise by how much I was 'sucking wind'. 5 days off really hampered my swimming.

    2.5 km 54 min
Was moving along at a PB pace for 3/4 of the swim (having eliminated rests), then slowed down considerably in the last quarter! Had been hoping for a 51-52 ish!

    Masters

    250 as 50 free 50 br 50 fly 50 free 50 kick

    8x50 free as 1-3 descend 4 hold (x2) on 60

    6x100 as 50 br 50 back on 2.00

    8x25 sprint kick on 50

    4x75 pull as 25 free 25 br 25 free

16x25 IMO (no br) on 35 (meant to use fins but I needed to push myself so did without)

    150 easy

Was the first remotely resembling speed work I've done in two months so I felt it!!

    Great workout Emma!
1950 yds, just under an hour. I did Ms. J's workout again. Felt good!
I need to do the MS_J1 workout again!
MsJ's workout and then aquafitness class. I can feel it, but it all felt good. I'm getting better with my bilateral breathing too, largely due to MsJ's "making me do it." It is a total switch for me to head to the pool with a planned workout. I am more motivated and I get on task faster.
Good stuff! And indeed the planned workouts break the monotony and are a good challenge!

That is the weird thing I find about swimming. A few days off, and once back in the pool, my breathing is ragged!

1800yds mixed swimming, kicking, pulling and drills. A beautiful morning out at the pool. I really love starting to swim when it's dark and finishing when the sun is coming up.

IK earlier in the week, a mile yesterday - not at speed (dodgems with the leisure swimmers for too much of it, when the fitness lane not in place).

A question - how much do you speedos think about pulling hard each stroke? I think a fair bit about stike style, and it is pretty good, but I do wonder if I shoukd simply be putting more effort into each pull and simply working a bit harder... (And. When I do sprints I tend to think about kicking hard, rather than pulling hard...)

Open water swim to practice with my kayaker:

    Outdoor Temp: 67F
Estimated water temp: 57F (according to http://www.fishingnotes.com/fishing-report/nh/Mascoma-Lake. I don't think it was that cold as I wasn't really uncomfortable)
    Wind speed: 10MPH
Distance: Not sure. I was swimming in East Nowhere, New England and GPS is spotty enough it kept blinking out. Between 400-550 yards.
    Time: 22 minutes.

Great Work Emmab, always impressed by your distances and mix of sets.

Open Water Swim - Great Work Noel. The water here where I live is way to cold to even attempt.

Stephen you have come along way from where you started. Love the way you are stepping out of the " Comfort zone " that we seem to trap ourselves in and try different workouts - tai chi - good on you.

No swim today Pool opening delayed due to a problem in the pump room overnight, fancy way for them to say they had an ops last night with the chemical balances. Snuck in a 5 km run 33 minutes.
