^Oh my word. That looks amazing.

Can't figure out why so off center...

Looks like it's just too big. I use photobucket (:grumble: ) and resize to 500 pixels across.

I've resized three times, to 480 and 440 and it just still keeps coming out off center. The other pics did too. Grr....

Did you save it as a new image or replace the old one? If you tell it to replace the old one, it won't actually do it when you link to the photo for several days. This is my biggest gripe about photobucket.

Ding ding ding - that's it! So strange. I just figured replacing the old one was the way to go so I didn't have two pics in my folder. So in a few days these pics will look right? That's bizarre!

Well that explains it! I couldn't figure out why it took so long for my stuff to resize. And yes, that crepe looks amAzing!

How am I only just now finding this group?!! Gosh I'm behind the times!

Anyhow, I've found this gem at Shoprite this past weekend:

    raspberry-chokolata-frozen-yogurt.jpg

And, it is REALLY good! The chocolate is really smooth slivers, but not chips like you find in chocolate chip ice cream. And it's a pretty good amount too. I'm not normally a raspberry ice cream fan, so I was a little worried the flavor of it would be too overpowering with not enough chocolate. That definitely was not the case though. It's a really nice mix of raspberry and chocolate. And the texture is nice as well. Win.

Does anybody remember a Haagen Dazs flavor called "Creme Caramel Pecan"? It was the best ice cream I've ever had and was discontinued about 10 years or so ago.

But just a few days ago I found out that HD use to sell it overseas as "Pralines and Creams" and that it might be available here in the states under that name. Has anyone seen the P&C flavor of Haagen Dazs anywhere??

I love that one, I don't think I've seen it in a while though. I think my favorite is still caramel cone, but I can't really fit HD in my days anymore (until I switch to maintenance).

I'm going to withhold my review of Steve's Salty Caramel until tomorrow, because the serving I got had almost no caramel in it. Hopefully they'll be more farther down in the pint.

Haven't had that Turkey Hill frozen yogurt, I seldom eat froyo anyway, but Turkey Hill is a solid brand that is often on sale here. By far my favorite TH flavor is:

Good grief it was my favorite. Basically their still amazing Dulce de Leche mixed with caramelized pecans. I really hope I can find it under the Pralines & Cream label.

Ugh. I hate when that happens. We have a local brand here called "White Rose" that makes Moose Track flavor that I really enjoyed. But lately they've changed up the recipe, obviously to cut costs, and the fudge tracks that use to be laced generously all through the 1.5 quart container is mostly clumped in one chunk surrounded by a sea of bland barely-vanilla and far less mini-peanut butter cups.

I will say that the vanilla base is probably my favorite vanilla base I've had to date, so it's still not a total loss, but I think it would be a lot better if there was actually caramel in it.

Anyone have experience with Three Twins ice cream? I've never had it. It's heavily discounted at my local WF this weekend in celebration of their store opening anniversary. Lemon Cookie sounds interesting.

Sadly they did not have lemon cookie or any of the flavors suggested. No Jeni's either which I've heard people say they get at Whole Foods. I think I'm going to have a hard time finding unique flavors in the wilds of Iowa. I did pick up these four:

    2w3dgtv.jpg

Sea salt caramel, chocolate peanut butter cup, caramel truffle swirl, butterscotch pecan

Your Target carries it?! None of the ones here do. But I have a few organic markets close to my office where I can get it. I'm curious how much it is there. It's $12 here.

It's 10.99 here. I didn't think it was worth it, but I'm going to try making the base in my ice cream maker.

I still have to make room in my kitchen for an ice cream maker! I thought it was worth it, just not really in my budget.

Am I supposed to stand on my head to see that picture?

I'll try it bigger. The descriptions on the containers aren't that great anyway.

MrM - what's the best gelato/ice cream place in Manhattan? I'll be there for the marathon later this year and am planning to do pizza + ice cream afterward.

I'm obviously not MrM, but I do live in NYC. Some of the best ice cream in the city is outside of Manhattan in the "outer" boroughs, so if you're planning on heading to Brooklyn or Queens I can give recommendations. For Manhattan though:

The ice cream from the Van Leeuwen truck is absolutely incredible. They've got a couple locations in Manhattan. They also sell by the pint at various stores:

Il laboratorio del gelato is pretty much considered the best damn gelato in this city. It's down in the LES.

They don't in my neck of the woods either.

I end up going to this out of the way store that does a bunch of really great artisan brands. Their Brambleberry Crisp is worth the money and day.

    Happy Saturday!

The jambalaya the other night was so good I decided I should try to recreate it today and I think I'm going to make Almond Toffee Ice cream haven't decided yet though. I think I found the vanilla base recipe for Steve's ice cream too so that is on the list to try soon, if it comes out good I'll post it.

Found some today ($4 a pint at Shop Rite, which isn't on their store locator), but only sea salt caramel (I have some Talenti left), vanilla, raspberry and the lemon one and I'm not too fond of lemon, so I didn't get any... I got this instead

    510-721756-Blsts_Smos_300x300.jpg

I've actually wanted to buy it forever so I figured they didn't have the chocolate waffle cone mentioned above (sadface), so I'd try this one. Pretty delicious for 140 calories a serving.
