Hello
My daughter's grade 8 graduation was on Monday. There was a lot of people wearing perfume and cologne so I had a migraine yesterday and raw throat from coughing. My throat is mostly better today but I still have the headache. This morning I went to a workshop on a process improvement system called Lean that was really good and based on how Toyota runs it's company processes. The afternoon has been busy with work stuff.
No word yet on whether I got the other job or not.
I have one more blister I would like to heal a little more before going hiking again. I anticipate I will be hitting the trails again on Friday.
We are short on cash this pay period so I am relying on Kashi bars and cereal rather than the more expensive fruit and chicken etc for my meals. Still getting in my proper calories but I try to eat from all the food groups as often as I can.
Have a great day! :flowerforyou:

Still no word on the job and I am on vacation tomorrow for DS's birthday. Maybe next week I'll find out but no big deal really since I have a job now that pays more, the other one is just more convenient.
I managed to lose what I gained from the wedding last Saturday and a little bit more. I won't be a big loser this week but anything in the right direction makes me happy.
Tomorrow I start hiking again and am really looking forward to hitting those trails. When I went hiking for those 7 days in a row I saw so many animals it was crazy and there was this deer that I think startled me as much as I startled it. The one time I was on a trail where there is really tall grass along the side that is just over my head. Suddenly a deer leaps up about 5 feet to my left and bounds away :noway: . They can jump pretty darn high I must says...lol. I did the trail again because it is shorter one that I do twice. I am on a different part of the trail and suddenly from a group of trees a deer comes running parallel to the path I am on. This time at least it was about 20 ft away and didn't scare the bejesus out of me. Saw lots of rabbits, toads and chipmunks too as well as a little snake.
Well I hope you all have a great weekend! :flowerforyou:

inlaws are visiting from across the country and healthy isn't exactly in their vocabulary (they either eat crappy or nothing at all- no seriously they want to have fruit for dinner- that's it just fruit- hello I have 2 kids under 5 they need sustenance!!)
Took us out to the diner this morning for breakfast. Luckily I went for a run this morning, but pretty sure the french toast and sausage links put me over something somewhere
On a good note I officailly met and exceeded my June running goal. I set out at the beginning of the month to run 100 miles and as of today I am at 104 miles with 2 days left to go- yipee!!!!0 -

Awesome! Congrats on exceeding your running goal!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Good morning Ravenclaws!
Had a bad day yesterday- no exercise and over on calories. Oh well, was exhausted. Today I will be better, although I feel like an eating monster. I know I'm not hungry though, just eaing for the sake of it, must resist! Tonight I will run and hopefully swim though to make up for yesterday. I feel like if I write this down here then I have to do it, hopefully it works!
Datenshi- congrats on your daughters graduation and MomofJandA- you ran 7 miles the other day, and it wasn't even a race- are you mad?! Congrats on making your goal though! Good luck on your job Datenshi, hope you hear soon x0 -
@lottee- my daily runs are 5-8 miles as of right now, training for my half marathon in September- not following any specific training program just running more every week
Speaking of running . . . . my feet are simply not pretty- I lost 2 toenails and have blisters and calluses ALL over the bottom and sides of my toes. i have no idea how to prevent them. I have relatively new running shows (started using them in March). Any ideas?0 -
Happy Friday Ravenclaw! (it is Friday - right? I've totally lost track!) Had a 1 a.m. flight to NC from AZ yesterday so got no sleep Wednesday night besides a few cat naps on the flight. Then rented a car at the airport and drove 2.5 hours to get to Wilmington, NC where my dad's funeral will be. Sad to say that at one point I fell asleep at the wheel. Good thing the highway had rumble strips that woke me up when I ran off the side of the road!! We were so lucky! Anyway, we arrived safe and sound and I slept a solid 11 hours last night!!! We will spend the weekend with a good family friend who owns a beach house. She is in her 80's and is such a kind and gentle person who respects all things for their own special beauty. This morning I am sitting on her deck enjoying the sea breeze and listening to the surf. So relaxing and good for the soul. I can't imagine a better place to be under the circumstances. My dad's funeral is tomorrow - its strange to know that I'm here where I spent so many summers with him and I will not see him this time. So many good memories...0

Moleskin is the best answer but it can be expenssive if you are using it all the time. Duct tape is cheap and works or sport tape like the kind boxers use to wrap their wrists and hands. I was getting tons of blisters becasuse of the hiking I do and taping my feet prevented new ones from forming.
Take care,

Now why in the hell didn't I think of that!!!!
Sadly I haven't done 1 day of lower body work this week (and it was MY challenge  ) I have gotten all my water in every day though- so that will help the OWLS
June is officially over so here is the running ticker- 111 miles . . . . wonder if next month the goal should be 120?

I am so very burnt but the kids and I had a great time at the beach today and yesterday. I wear waterproof, SPF 60 sunblock but I burn so easy I would have to apply it every 15 minutes to avoid a sunburn. I haven't been to a beach in 3 years so I forgot about how the sand gets everywhere...lol.
Tomorrow I am getting up early so that I can go for a hike and then take the kids after to a carnival.
I hope you all are having a great weekend! :flowerforyou:

getting ready to tackle No More Trouble Zones by Jillian Michaels- pretty sure she is going to kick my *kitten*, she always does- but I love it!0

Good morning Ravenclaws! Was it just me or was MFP fauty all weekend? It wouldn't let me log on once. Very depressing! Had a great last weekend in Thailand, got a sore throat and a bad flu bug now though, so feeling a bit sorry for myself!
Challenges for this week aren't posted yet because Kelly is having internet issues (or maybe it is MFP). I think we should carry on with last weeks challenges until she can publish the interhouse ones.
Have a good week Ravneclaws!0 -
Good morning everyone.
I am a little out of commission, I fell down a few stairs and sprained my ankle- luckily no broken bones. I have to wear a moon boot when I am out walking around, it is killing me that I can't go out and run. Hoping to be back to normal in a week or so.0 -

Had a nice 4 day weekend. My son's 8th birthday was on Friday so I took him and his sister and some friends to the beach and a park. We went to an indoor playground and the beach again the next day. The third day we went to a carnival for 6 hours and watched the Canada Day fireworks. One the 4th day I did lots of yardwork and my hands and arms are really sore today. Lots of calories burned this weekend!
I hope you all had a good weekend too! :flowerforyou:

drank my first diet soda in like 2 weeks- loved it, but I won't make a habit out of it!!
7 miles today- blisters on my toes are killing me, got some noncotton moisture wicking socks (as per some runner friends, hope it helps, plus will start putting powder in my socks
Hope everyone is having a good week0 -
Hello my lovely Ravenclaws!
I started using Mio to flavour my water since I am not a fan of plain water. It tastes pretty good. :drinker:
It has been scorching here the last week so I haven't gone hiking again yet since I am burnt enough from going to the beach. Hopefully this weekend I can go since I don't have any other plans yet.
Well I have to get back to the daily grind of work..lol.
Happy 4th of July to any Americans in the group!

Good morning Ravenclaws!
Yesterday was my last day at work in the school I've been at for three years. Today is my last day in Thailand. Talk about emotional! The kids cried, I cried, my friends cried....
Been eating crap, drinking and not exercising either, sigh. Back on the horse tomorrow!0 -
Hello Ravenclaw. Back home after a week in NC for my dad's funeral. I'm exhausted and jet-lagged and dreading my next weigh-in. I lapsed back into old eating patterns and decided I wasn't going to fight it. It was easier to just go with the flow. Why isn't it as easy to slip back into healthy eating habits??
@Lottee - I can only imagine how difficult this move is for you! Hang in there!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Ravenclaws,
I haven't had a chance to check in lately - I moved in the middle of last month, and got behind on work and have been playing catch up ever since. Hopefully things are beginning to settle down a little. At least I've been sticking to my exercise schedule pretty consistently, and managed to lose weight in June, which I consider a miracle considering the stress level :-)
azsuzi - so sorry to hear about your dad - hope you are doing ok
momofJandA - I was reading about your foot problems - wicking socks should definitely help with the blisters, but it sounds like your shoes may be too small also, particularly the toe box - for the distances you are running, toenails coming off sounds a little severe - the general rule I was told at the running store where I get my shoes is that running shoes should usually be a full size larger than your normal shoes to allow room for when your feet swell while running. You may also want to try on a few different styles to find one with the right amount of roominess around the toes.0 -
I've been a terrible housemate and haven't been able to log in much at all lately (some issues with a storm taking out the power and the internet in the area), but I'm glad to hear that most of you are doing well.
Sue, I am so sorry to hear about your father. I'm terribly late, but my thoughts are definitely with you and your family. Wish there was more I could do.
Lottee1000 - Wow, that would be a really emotional time. I can understand the urge to splurge in that case, but it's good to hear that you're going to be jumping back in. That's what counts!
I'm going to be on my family vacation over the next several days, so I might not be updating for a bit again, but the Week 3 results have been posted in the Great Hall, and hopefully we'll have EOM June results posted by next week.0 -
Just wanted to drop in and say a quick hi. Hi!
Got a migraine today so not very chatty at the moment.
I do hope you are all having a good week and drinking lots of water. :flowerforyou:
Take care,

Helllloooooooooo Ravenclaws!
Hi from England. Am finally home in UK, got six weeks here until leaving for my new adventure. It's nice to be back, weather is dreadful though! About 20 degrees C colder than what I left behind in Thailand, sigh!
Very quiet in here at the moment, how's it going Ravenclaws?0 -
Ooh, and here are the challenges for week two of July- as decided by Hufflepuff...
Food - Monitor your sodium levels! Each participant should have the sodium column in their diary and for every day they are 'under' the sodium 'goal', they should award themselves. For every day that the individual is under their sodium goal, they should award themselves 5 NEWTs (or OWLs, depending on the house's usual tracking system). As well as that, for every glass of water an individual has they should award themselves 1 NEWT/OWL, so 1 NEWT/OWL per glass.
Exercise - This week's exercise is crunches! For every set of 10 crunches an individual completes, they should award themselves 5 OWLs. A bonus 5 OWLs can be awarded for 60 minutes of exercise completed, and that can be any form exercise.
These are more complicated and will result in higher totals than our usual OWL system, so good luck with keeping track of them!0 -

Wow, haven't been tracking OWLs lately because I've been so busy but will try to track this week - I desperately need to drink more water, and the crunches fit right in with another challenge I'm doing where I'm shooting for at least 75 per day :-)0 -
Does anyone know if we're still tracking spirit OWLs with this new challenge format?0
