I'm kinda creeped out........I'm waiting for the bad things to start...withdrawal, cravings....but I'm having none. Is that normal? Does that mean maybe I'm not addicted to nicotine, just he habit part? or maybe I have such a good mind set that I'm fooling myself really well?

I didn't have bad withdrawal or cravings when I quit (for good). But I have tried to quit before and literally felt like my skin was crawling. I would say you have a good mind set, and this time you have quit for good.

You may have occasional cravings that will surprise you, but they will be quick and painless. I describe mine as, "Huh...I could go for a cigarette." in the same frame of mind as, "Huh, I could go for a Big Mac." I'm not going to die if I don't have a Big Mac, I'm not going to snap anybody's head off...it's a fleeting thought and then it's gone.

Actually...I probably have more cravings for Big Macs than I do cigarettes.

Congratulations! And enjoy your painless smoke-free days :)

Thank you. I think you're right, the fact that I've really quit for good and I know it has made all the difference. When I'd try before I'd get the antsy "i gotta have a cig!!" feeling......but this time I don't.

  • I have not had one cig since 9.45pm Mon evening and have to say I'm finding it quite easy, I'm missing the habit more then the cig and it's after dinner in the evening that I automatically go to have one so I just wash my hair of find something to do and it's sorted.
Have tried patches, tablets, gum, none of them have worked long term but just giving up seems to work and I don't understand it!!
    Happy though

WTG!!!! Be proud of yourself. We've both done it and that is the important thing. I never realized how much money I was blowing on cigs. :noway:

edging up on 41 days nicotine free

40 days, 23 hours, 31 minutes and 47 seconds smoke free.
    410 cigarettes not smoked.
    $112.75 saved.

it is strange that it both seems like another life time ago when i smoked but also it seems like yesterday.

in 1997 i was a very occasional smoker, basically quit, for most of 5 or 6 months but was never completely clean for 40 days in a row at any point so that makes this the longest i have gone without a cigarette since some time in 1987 or maybe 1988.

I dont think i have any of the physical cravings since a day or two after my last smoke but i still really miss smoking and would like to be smoking right now, dont know when or if that will ever go away. the habit, the ritual and the mental addiction was always very strong for me, i of course loved the feeling of nicotine but the rest of it was always a bigger thing for me, being a smoker was something that was important to me in many ways so i guess it isnt surprising that it will take a while for me to be "deprogramed" maybe i will start another thred to see if anyone else feels the same way.

I hear yah.....it's the "ritual...the habit" that I miss. Not the actual cig. We really do have to de-program ourselves. We can support each other and kick the nasty cig-monkey to the curb!
