AFM: Had a doctor appt. yesterday!! Yes made it another week. I can NOT believe I haven't went into labor yet. All these contractions and cramps are doing a good job though. Dialated to a 3, 80% effaced, but baby being in her sideways position is keeping her head from engaging like it needs to. I wish I knew of a way to make her drop, but all I can do is keep working out, walking and WAITING!!! Gained 1.5 lbs in a week!!!! I think some of it's water, I've been swollen lately, so now I'm at 22.5lbs so far. Doctor said baby is just under 7lbs. That's her guess, and I was thinking about 7. :) (just my guess), figure she will be a little smaller than my son, because she's a girl. LOL. Really hope I go into labor this weekend, my doctor is on call and will be able to deliver, so I'm crossing my fingers. It is amaizing how different this pregnancy is from my first. Overall I'm a lot healthier this time, gained less weight, made it past 37 wks and dialating!! Yay. It took me 13.5 hours to dialate from a 1-2 w/ my son, so being at a 3 is exciting, and I hope that means a lot shorter labor for me. I really need to have this baby! Bending over is almost impossible, my medium pants are too small, large too big, and so far no stretch marks this time!! She needs to come out!!!

keep us posted...that is so exciting!! it always amazes me how you can be 1, 2 even 3 cm dilated and not have the labor fairy knocking at your door!!! hopefully she is right around the corner!!!

Jessica...with the car seat base, have your husband kneel on the base (with all his weight on it) and then pull it tight. That's what we had to do. But a little bit of side to side movement is normal. And if you're worried, you can always check with your police station...most of them do car seat installs and could check for you. Also Babies R Us usually does if you have one around you. Good luck!

Misti...Hoping baby comes soon!! Hang in there!

Rayna...Glad your hubby is feeling better...and hoping you're in the clear! And a massage sounds wonderful!!

Denise...thanks for sharing about the bras! I may have to go check them out...would like to add a few more to my collection!

Misti- Glad to hear Aspyn is getting close to arrive. How exciting!

Jessica- Good question on the car seat base, we haven't installed it yet. Enjoy the hubby's bday dinner, sounds fun. Thanks, we are all just a week difference on the board, it seems like.

Rayna- Massage idea sounds great, can never get enough of those. Nice to hear your hubby is getting better. Allergy season is also around the corner my hubby gets so sick from the pollen every year.

Kristin: thanks for the car seat tip. I will keep that in mind for when we install ours. Also, good to hear Kadence is feeling better.

Did any of you see the woman in Ohio that give birth to a 13 lb baby yesterday online? Well apparently it's her 2nd baby and the first weighed 12lbs where she has had both by natural birth. WHOA!! :noway:

AFM: Yesterday, i spent the day with left pain, or contractions, they kept coming and going and it's primarily on my left. I was finally able to sleep but woke up with a headache and i feel like i really didn't sleep well.

I have my Dr's appt on thursday and we get an ultrasound. Baby hasn't been as active as yesterday, but she squirms once in a while.

I wish I could just take off work already, i am not in work mode anymore, but i want all the time i can have to be with the baby.

I am 36 weeks today, Yay!!! We are almost there ladies, our babies will be with us soon. TG!

Brenda – hopefully you’re feeling a lot better and the pain has gone away! And I am right there with you on wanting to take off work…I wish I could just be home preparing…but it’s definitely more important for me to have the time at the end with Parker  like you said!

Kristin – big thanks for the tip on the car seat. I think we had it…but you can NEVER be too sure!!! We’re going to give it another go and then take it to be inspected

AFM: We had a nice birthday dinner for the hubs last night at my parents...brought the puppies over and just relaxed...it was perfect. But by the time we got home I was so uncomfortable...just felt like any and all the food I ate was up in my throat and I was so swollen! I know that at this point I am just retaining water...but I am telling you...its driving me insane!!! I can not stand the feeling of being so swollen!!!

And I know we have zero control of when our babies come...but I have been secretly praying that he comes in the next couple weeks. I hit full term today (37 weeks...YAY!!!) and am just ready to go. So here's hoping!!!!

Hope everyone has a great day...its supposed to be another day in the 50's today...Ill take that!!!

    jessica - 37 weeks today!!!

    Morning ladies!

Well...another day. I have a doctors appointment this afternoon...and then going every other week! My kitties got declawed on Monday (something I never wanted to do but they are destroying our furniture) and they get to come home tonight so I spent all evening yesterday cleaning out the laundry room so that it's nice for them when they come home. My one kitty is doing wonderfully...healing nice with no bleeding. My other kitty is not doing so great...beating up his paws and causing them to bleed (he hates the vet). So I set up the large dog kennel we have so that he can stay in there for a day or two until he heals a little better. I just feel so bad for my little babies...and Kadence misses them big time. But it has been something we've needed to do for a long time (they have literally shredded my couches) and now it's done. Could you send some good wishes for them to have a quick recovery please? They are my other babies! Now...if I can get my dogs to leave them alone when they get home!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

    Kristin--30 weeks today!!

Hello friends! I've missed you all and have been meaning to post and actually dreamt last night I was laying in bed posting. So here I am!

Someone asked about some must haves at the hospital so I thought I'd offer my suggestions. I love my Boppy and took it with and used it at every feeding and still use it at every feeding. It took a few days to get the hang of breast feeding and getting into a comfortable position helps so much. (I like the football hold). The Boppy gets used a lot to just hold Daphne a lot of times too. Some other must haves are comfy pants, nursing tops, breast pads, nipple cream, hair bands, toiletries, slippers, and we liked having our laptop to download pictures from delivery to show all of our visitors. Another cool thing our hospital did was have professional photographers come to your room to take photos. I had no makeup, not fixed hair, and they used sheets and blankets in the room and they turned out so good - very natural; I'll post some later. So we were able to put those on the laptop and show to our (many) guests too. Some things I did not use were my robe (that took up 1/3 of my bag), pillow (I opted not to bring it in the room), and baby clothes other than PJs (except for her going home outfit). They put long sleeved t-shirts with hand covers (I love any article of clothing with the hand covers to avoid scratching and also keep her hands warm) on her and that, a blanket, and a hat is pretty much what she wore the whole time at the hospital. They told us not to clip her nails and once I got home, I think b/c they are so flimsy it would have been difficult. I used my emory board (that is pretty worn down and soft) to file the nails down. Her nails were so long when she was born!

So far Daphne has been a pretty good baby. We are still learning what is the best way to get to sleep. The first 2 nights home it took nearly 3 hours to get her settled but then she slept for 4-5 hours. Night before last we went to bed at 9:30 and she went straight to sleep but woke every 3 hours or so and was awake between 5-7 but then let us sleep another 2 hours. The nights we've had people over late or she's been passed arond or overstimulated have been the hardest, including last night. Common sense huh? Also I think I need to start watching what I eat as her tummy was upset last night. She let out some howls that were like nothing we have heard yet. We were getting ready to give her gripe water, but Eric was able to calm her down a little and I was as well with feeding.

Speaking of feeding, she is doing really really well and I'm making so much milk I am pumping in addition to feeding every 2-4 hours. I can pump 5oz. in 6 minutes so I'm already starting a stash! However I started on the nights when she wouldn't sleep to use feeding as a calming mechanism which my pediatrician said is not a great practice. "Mom shouldn't be a pacifier" so I am trying to cut that out and feed her no closer together than about 1.5 hours minimum. Her feedings vary from 5-7 minutes each side to 10 minutes each side. In general feeding is going well. I recommend lanolin after each feeding.

We had her first after hospital pediatrician visit yesterday and she has gained back all of her weight plus an ounce so we get to skip our 2 week check up! Our pediatrician was able to give us some pointers on how to make her comfy for sleeping so that was good too. She suggested swaddling, hat and tucked in blanket which has worked well.

My parents are here until next week I think which has been great. Mom does laundry, cleans, dishes, cooks, and waits on me hand and foot if I let her. It's been a little hard for me as I like to do it myself, but after being sore all day yesterday from a trip to the grocery, I realize a C section is kind of a big deal and I need to take advantage of the help and rest. I've not been napping during the day but honestly it's because I've been able to get around 6-8 hours of sleep each night!

I hope you are all feeling good. It sounds like several of you are very close! I can't wait to hear about all the new babies coming soon. They are pretty fun.

Thanks for sharing Ashley! And it's so good to hear from you!! I can agree with you on the robe...not needed. And having the Boppy is a great idea! I didn't take it with Kadence but am planning to this time...it would have made nursing so much easier! And you do need to be careful after that c-section. Don't over do it! Recovery is slow...but you will bounce back before you know it! Keep in touch!!

Ashley! So good to hear from you and hear that everything is going so well with Daphne and with breastfeeding! Congratulations again :) Thanks for the tips about what to bring to the hospital - I have been debating whether or not to bring my breastfeeding pillow because I just feel like I have too much stuff lol...but I think I will bring it now, anything that will help make breastfeeding easier.

AFM - had more cervix pains again last night and some BH this morning. I have my next Dr. appt tomorrow at 1:30 so we'll see if he checks me again and see where we're at. Last night I was an emotional mess...I was crying like a baby while texting with my mom - she and my dad are going to Hawaii for business from Feb 10-18th and I'm really anxious that she is not going to be here when I go into labour and she will miss the whole thing. I'm ridiculously close with my mom first of all, she is pretty much my best friend. We live in the same city and we talk everyday, plus we text all the time ;) My mom is younger (only 50) and just really the most amazing woman I know. Anyway we were texting back and forth about the possibility of her missing it and we were both getting a little emotional etc...lol it was kind of silly but seriously I can't imagine her not being there. I mean I know I will be fine and I'll make it through it and my husband is amazing - I know all I really need is him...it's just hard to explain - I just want her there with me. Anyway, I just really hope I either go into labour between now and Feb 10 or after Feb18th! Oh if only I could explain to Mason lol but I know he will only come when he is ready and in all honesty that is the most important thing - it's not about me, it's about having a healthy little baby boy - anyway sorry enough babbling on about that!

I'm getting frustrated with my nerve pain and my hips :( I would really like to be more active but it's seriously difficult at this point because even just walking is a huge chore - my waddle is more like a hobble/waddle it's kind of pathetic! lol I would really like to go out and walk for an hour - maybe I will try today and see how it goes.

Can you believe it's February 1st! Wow...I honestly can't believe Mason will be here soon, so surreal - I keep thinking about actually being a mom! So crazy!

In other news, I was awakened this morning by my poor little Sophie getting sick in our bed at 6:30am :frown: not cool, she seems fine now, I made her some rice to calm her tummy and she's been pretty snuggley ever since but that's pretty normal for her  but I must admit I'm SO tired - that's kind of just how I feel all the time now. I'm waiting for my nesting instinct to kick back in and I really wish it would because my house is a mess, I have laundry to do, I need to clean out my fridge and freezer and prepare some frozen meals - and just get organized in general....but it's literally like the tank is running on EMPTY these days...for real. I just want to sleep! lol

Anyway I hope everyone is having a good week

Ashley- Thanks for sharing your pictures, and Daphne is adorable. I love that picture where she is in the basket. Glad to hear things are working out with the breastfeeding and she has gained her weight back. Yay!

Also, thansk for the suggestions as to what to take to the hospital. Very much appreciated.

Rayna- Hope you can get your walk, and the pain leaves you alone. It's ok to feel that way, I would too if my mom couldn't make it in time. Hope Mason comes early!

Ashley - Your pics are adorable!!!! Daphne is so precious!!!! Makes me more and more anxious!

AFM: only got a second, but I've had lots of contractions today, a lot more painful than they have been and a KILLER backache, so maybe it means something will actually happen! My doctor told me to call if my headache gets worse and it has, but I am trying so hard to hold out! I know she will induce me and I don't want her too, but then I feel bad about not listening to her. I just feel like things are so close, if I wait one more day it will happen. So far I've waited 7 days and it's not happening, but maybe one more day. Just really want to go into labor on my own this time!!!!

One good thing about baby being in a posterior position is I actually see her feet poke out my belly, it's cute. (Oval shape poking out on my right side here and there.)

2 is usually my lucky # so maybe Aspen will be born on 2-2-2012!! Hoping anyway.

Hope everyone is great. So many close babies, wonder who will be next and look forward to hearing!!

Misti - thinking of you and hope that Aspen comes soon before you have to be induced! how many weeks are you now?

Ashely! Daphne is so beautiful! Those pictures are amazing, what an awesome gift to have a photographer come in :)

Tried to walk today (trying to find raspberry leaf tea at Safeway) I walked around the store trying to find the tea section - did like 3 laps of the whole supermarket and almost started crying because my hip hurt so bad...I walk at like a SNAILs pace and literally feel like I'm disabled! Honestly I will never take the simple act of walking for granted again after this! I'm just going to try to do a lot of squats tonight and put some heat on my back/hips and hopefully will get some relief.
My massage was wonderful and felt really good but it's pretty temporary relief at this point - I think a nice bath may be in order tonight as well.
Oh well it's going to be over soon and it is all worth it! ;) i don't want to come across as being miserable and unhappy because that is not the case at all - I do really love this experience but it's nice to be able to come here and communicate with you ladies about the crazy symptoms and different things going on ;) hope that makes sense

Anyways hope everyone has a great evening!

    Rayna
  • I just wanted to say hi to everyone!!! I'm getting back on track after having baby, and can't wait to catch up with you all. I hope everyone has been doing really well the last four weeks since I had baby and my hiatus began. Tiziana and I are doing wonderful. I promise to update on life after baby very soon. I have posted her birth story on the 'Still fit and fab....' Group Forum for anyone interested.

    Also...Congratulations Ashley!! She's beautiful!

Will try to 'catch up' and get as updated as possible on everyone as soon as I have a bit more time. It will have to happen in increments unfortunately, but one of my goals is to check in daily if at all possible.

Sending everyone big love and hugs!

Ashley - I LOVE the pictures of you, Eric, and Daphne! She is so beautiful and you guys look great as well. Such a happy family. :)

Rayna - I hope you start having some relief from the pain soon. The left side of my tailbone has been hurting a lot the past week and walking is very uncomfortable so I kind of know what you mean about the hobble/waddle. lol

Misti - We're all so anxious to hear when you go into labor! Hopefully it's soon. :)

Brenda - Good luck on your ultrasound! I have one today too. Can't wait, although Eric can't make it because he has to fly today. :(

Rosanna - Loved your birth story! Glad you and Tiziana are doing well and we can't wait to hear more.

AFM, I have been doing well at sticking to my workout goals lately so I'm pretty happy about that. Monday I walked the dogs for 30 minutes and then did 30 minutes of yoga. (My tailbone was pretty sore after the yoga.) Yesterday I did an hour of cardio at the gym. Today I plan on 45-50 minutes of yoga and possibly walking the dogs if the rain clears up. Tomorrow will probably be another cardio day or possibly walking the dogs and some strength training. We'll see. I had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and I was 1/2 pound less than last week. I'm still right at about a 20 pound gain. Abbie is moving all the time and it seems as though I feel every single move she makes now since she's getting bigger. Gotta admit, they aren't always comfortable either! haha! The feet in the ribs kind of hurt sometimes!! We have an ultrasound today at 2:00 and I can't wait! Eric can't make it though because he has a flight. I'm going to try to video it with my phone if I can. Hopefully she cooperates and we get some good 3D images. Last time she was a little stinker and kept her arm in front of her face the whole time. OH! I've been doing pretty well at only getting up like once a night to pee, but last night I think I got up like 3-4 times! And I can't get enough water (had like 16 glasses yesterday and more throughout the night!!) so that doesn't help with the peeing situation. lol

Enough rambling from me for now. Happy Groundhogs Day! :)

morning momma's and happy groundhogs day!!!

kristin - heather ended up sending me an 'invite' to the mommy board...so i would just reach out to her and ask for the invite...not quite sure how to find it on your own...maybe someone else does (i am not too technically savy!)

brenda - good luck at your dr's appointment today ... keep us posted and enjoy the ultrasound!!!

misti - sooooo exciting!!! hopefully aspen comes today on her own! thinking about you today!!!!

rayna - so sorry about all of the pain...that is definitely not fun. hopefully it gets better...the heat sounds like a great idea!!

AFM: did some more organizing in parkers room last night which was good. i changed out all the 'store hangers' for new ones i got in the mail yesterday...so the closet is looking good!!! and i organized the changing table (one drawer still needs a little more work..but i will get to that) and i got out 85% of my thank you cards which i was super excited about!!! just have to find addresses for the last couple ones and have a couple to do from late gifts we've received! but that is a huge relief...getting those out!

tonight we are heading out to dinner with my brother and SIL and their two girls...so that will be fun to catch up with them. probably the last time we'll see them before the baby!

hopefully getting a walk in after work with the puppies...i need to get more in while this weather is cooperating...i always feel so good exercising them...they deserve it :flowerforyou:

hope everyone has a great day!!!

    Good morning gals!

Jessica...thanks, I will have to send a message to heather. And good productive evening last night...feels good to get things done!

Kristy...sounds like you are doing well! You have great workout plans, and 20 pounds is a great gain so far!! Keep it up!

Rosanna...glad to hear you and baby are both well! Look forward to hearing more!

Rayna...you poor thing! Hopefully a bath helps with some relief!

Misti...I'm hoping for a 2-2 baby!! Come on baby!!!!!!

Brenda...let us know how the appointment goes, and have fun at the ultrasound!!

    Anyone I missed...hello!!

AFM: My kitties came home last night! (I did mention about getting them declawed, right?) My poor Stewie (the male) is confined to the laundry room as he heals (he had beaten his paws up pretty bad at the doctors office (he is nasty there) but is super lovey and doing well now that he's home. Harley (the female) is doing great and roaming the house as usual, also quite lovey. I am relieved they are recovering and that they are both home! Kadence is also super excited!

My doctors appointment went great yesterday! Heart rate was 139 (hmm...maybe a boy?) and they said I'm measuring just a tad big. We also went over what the scheduled c-section will be like, and it sounds like it's going to go really smoothly! I go in at 6:30, they start at 8:00, and I should be back in my room with a baby in my arms a little after 8:30! CRAZY! I know a lot of you frown on c-sections and trust me, I was just like you before I had Kadence. "C-section" was not on my radar and never a part of my plan. But after needing one last time and knowing the risks involved with a V-BAC, I decided to not take any chances and do a c-section again. So, although I don't get the fun of not knowing when it's going to happen, I can make all the necessary arrangements for my daughter and my puppies and have everything ready (that is assuming baby doesn't decide to try and make an appearance early!) ANYways...I am rambling now.

Gonna start on some work. I'll check back later! Have a fabulous morning!!

Kristin- mine C-section has been schedule for 10 yrs!! I have very narrow hips and there was just no way a baby would fit through there. Now that I'm pregnant with diabetes the baby is outgrowing me so fast that even if I could of had him naturally its not an option for me anymore.

The way I look at it, either way we're having a baby! So joy for the miracle of technology!!

    touching base rather quickly-

Loving the pictures from teh hospital!! LOVE LOVE LOVE THE BASKET ONE!! Ugh, too cute!!

My cankles are swollen beyong belief- they hurt. They throb. Sleeping on my left helped for a while but they are in full gear. Then again working 10-12 hour days isn't helping either.

My insurance didn't cover my diabetes program for the next 4 weeks so I'm doing it on my own with my Dr's help. Wish me luck!!
Still spilling ketones and I know he's not going to be happy about that but oh well-

Drs appt this afternoon- I'll get bk to you guys.

Sorry to everybody that I missed!

Misti - thinking of you and hope that Aspen comes soon before you have to be induced! how many weeks are you now?

Will be 39 wks on Sat.

No baby yet, but every sign of early labor according to my What to Expect Book. Now if contractions would just get regular and more painful.

I really think I'm crazy wishing this pain upon myself, but I know it's coming and I am just ready to get it over with. Just keep telling myself 7 more cm and I'll be pushing, LOL. Ok I think I am going crazy.

Hi all, quick update for me...just got back from the Doctors and got checked again...he was very surprised and said that I am around 4 cm dilated and Mason's head is down and he is right in position and my cervix is effacing really well. He said that he thinks I am going to have a really easy labour because most of the time it is quite painful to get to 4 cms and I honestly really don't feel that much pain or even really feel like I'm in labour...I feel like I'm having really light contractions but nothing too crazy....
He basically told me that Mason could come at any time - holy moly!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but just wanted to share the good news...things are progressing so that's good. My BP is still really good and Mason's heartbeat was 141 - Dr said he is one happy baby so that is all that matters!

Hi all, quick update for me...just got back from the Doctors and got checked again...he was very surprised and said that I am around 4 cm dilated and Mason's head is down and he is right in position and my cervix is effacing really well. Rayna-4cm is great, that's how i was with my first and he came quick. Maybe Mason will arrive soon before your parents make their trip!!! So excited for you.

    Paulandrea- Sounds good, that's exciting!!

Misti- too funny, i think we are all anxious. I know i am!! Best wishes, hope it goes well, you're getting closer.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes on my appointment and it went great. Baby has lots of hair, chubby thighs and is weighing in at 6lbs 1 oz currently, her HB was 131 and she is low low low. Doctor checked and I haven't dilated but since she is in position he said he thinks at the most two weeks. Yay!

Of course we don't mind! We missed you!! :) Glad to have you back!!

Okay, so the ultrasound went okay yesterday. Little miss stubborn was moving around the whole time so the tech had a hard time getting a good 3D image, but she tried at least. She printed out a few pictures, but they're kind of blurry. She had her mouth open for a lot of them. haha! Also, she was so low that the lady had to tilt the bed way back where I felt like I was going to slide off the back so she could try and get Abbie to move out of my pelvis a little bit to measure my cervix. It didn't work so she ended up having to do transvaginal for that part. Which leads me to some concerns and questions for you ladies that are further along. I'm 33 weeks today, but have been having a little bit of dull menstrual cramps off and on, mainly in the evening. Also, some pinchy type sensations in my lady parts. I'm not sure if it's my cervix or what. Then there's the increase in thirst. I've had about 16 glasses of water the past two days and I would think I'd be peeing a LOT more than usual, but it's just the normal amount. Could that be just my body's way of using the water to help with my milk production? I'm just not sure if I should bother calling my doctor or not and ask these questions. I'm going weekly now and have an appointment next Wednesday. Whatcha think?
