LOW CARB MEETING ROOM

Morning everyone! Man, oh man, I am SORE!! I LOVE it!! I did Insanity last night for the first time is a long, long time. I turned it off with 10 minutes to go, not because I was too tired (however, I was) but because my kids were screaming for food! LOL I had also done 10 minutes of Bob Harper's boot camp dvd, so I actually got like 45 minutes of cardio in. I had a huge dinner and was starving this morning! No shake for breakfast, eggs and sausage!! From McDonald's because I didn't have time to cook them at home. Too busy in the mornings to cook!
I wanted to get up and do another Insanity this morning, but I was just absolutely zonked! I had good intentions of going to bed early, but my husband wanted me to watch our show with him. That's kind of our thing...tv shows in the evening So I decided to leave the kids at the sitters a little later and run and then go get the kids, go home and do Insanity, then feed us all. Sounds like a plan to me! It'll be a busy evening, but I can do it.
There is a Cross Fit box in a town 20 minutes form me. I am really thinking about doing it. I am really nervous though. I hate new things and I feel like I would be way more out of shape than the other people. My cousin lives in this town and has done it for 2 years and said she would go with me. Just gotta make myself do it! I am afraid it'll be like the Presidential Fitness Fitness Week at school. Anyone else have horrific memories of that???? The Eraser Run, Pull-Ups, Sit-Ups???!!! I was a very small girl, but man, I was not athletic and it was just humiliating doing that in front of my classmates! I know at Cross Fit they do pull ups, so that's my biggest fear, more than that, I'm afraid of NOT doing it! I would like to do this Zombie Race with my husband this summer, too. Need to work up to that!
Anyway, I feel like I always write the most. Everyone have a great day!0 -
Good morning!
Bailey, I was watching the infomercial on Insanity this weekend. It looks so hard, but fun! It will be months before I can do anything with this foot/ankle though. Plus I can't afford it, lol! Good for you! I have Bob Harper's Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga DVD that I was doing before I got hurt. I love Bob! Lol!
Clare, I am so sorry for your pain, too! I am glad you are feeling better now. My doctor thinks I have achilles tendonitis, but is sending me to an orthopedic specialist, who I have yet to hear from. I will be calling the dr again today! I elevate my foot, ice it several times a day, wrap it, etc. but by the end of the day it is just throbbing! I can't not walk on it - I have to work! Plus I work in a center for developmentally disabled people and it is on 26 acres! I mostly stay in the front office, but if I have to go anywhere else it is a hike! This is the 4th week of pain and I am sick of it, lol!
I lost 1.2 lbs since yesterday! I know it's just water, but still makes me so happy to see that scale going down! I checked and did not show signs of ketosis on the strips yet, but just started eating low carb again on Sunday. Maybe by tomorrow??
Anyway, hope everyone has a great day!0 -
Insanity is tough, but so worth it. The only thing I DESPISE about it is that it's a 40-45 minute DVD. It'd be a lot easier to do it in a class with other people, but it just seems forever when you're at home doing it alone.
Hope you hear from the doctor and get everything figured out!
Yay for the scale going down!!! Congrats!:happy:Good morning!

Good morning everybody
Thought I'd check in:
Been doing my strength training every other day - yesterday I mowed and did yardwork for 4 hours! Burnt alot of cals - man - like over 1000! :noway: I just can't eat them back, cause I'm not really hungry. I only ate like 800-900 cals total for yesterday, I'm not gonna force myself to eat if my body says no. I know everyone says u should. But weight keeps going down and I only took insulin with supper! Don't even think I needed it cause at 3:30 this morning it fell to 82 and had to take some glucose pills and at 6:30 it fell to 65. That is just awesome to not always need insulin. I'm very pleased with this "diet" I can c myself doing this for life it's pretty easy now to just fall into it even when eating out. On Saturday we rode our motorcycles and stopped for lunch where I ordered a turkey club and onion rings. Too funny, I ate only 1 slice of bread with the meat, tomato, and lettuce and only 3 rings. I left such a mess on my plate! I just couldn't c eating all that bread and fried stuff. My hubbie has really noticed how I have changed in my habits and people r telling me they see a physical difference with only 14 pounds off? Incrediible. I even fit jeans I only fit when I had lost 25 pounds 3 yrs ago. Too crazy! Lost 3 off waist, 3 off bust, and 1 off hips.
Anyway... I try to read everyone's updates as often as I can. Pretty much everyone is doing good - so happy u r! Keep up the great work! Bailey u r doing awesome! U look so little in ur pic n ur glowing probably from holding that beautiful baby! Linda hope u get that sodium under ur thumb, u sound determined, I'm sure u will. Coyfoyo keep ur head up:happy: Ok off I go......:drinker:0 -
Pamela777: Does your doctor know that you are low carbing? Because you have to eat so your insulin doesn't fall too low, even when you are not hungry, eat a mouthful of something (quick egg salad/chicken salad) is always good to keep on hand for those days you just want 1-2 forkfuls. Your doctor has got to keep an eye on the amount of insulin you take while you are doing Atkins, as you may not need as much while eating this way. But you have got to let him decide that for you. We want you to be around for a long, long time. You are doing a fantastic job on the weight/inches loss. Congratulations!
Bailey: Great job! Maybe you can break it up into 2 - 20 minute workouts instead of doing the 45 min all at once. As for the Crossbox, go for it! Nothing beats a failure but a try. My hat off to you as you are definitely getting your workout in.
Dis5150: Do you have any insoles for the heel to put in your shoes? Also if you reasearch the internet, there are many sites including "Youtube" that show you how to exercise the foot as well. Feel better, I had to get a cortisone shot and have some customized shoe insoles made (check with your insurance company). An if it is really bad go to the "Emergency Room." Feel better!
Coy4Yo: I think everyone has those days, maybe it is time for a well deserved vacation. Congratulations on your loss too!
To All others: How is it going, would love to hear from you.0 -
Hello to everyone! It is day 4 for me and going pretty well. Yesterday....Day 3, I wasn't prepared for the shakes, dizziness and weakness. I kept thinking I was hungry but when I ate, it didn't get better. Once I did research on the computer, I found it was a normal feeling. I ended up going to the gym and did my interval training and 600 rows on the rowing machine and it took all the weird feelings away.
One other thing I noticed, I am super thirsty! Is this common? I am drinking way more water than I normally do. I also added lemon to my water as suggested.
I got a heart rate monitor as an early Mothers Day present and I am so excited to use it today!!!
Today, I've had a headache all day that Motrin isn't taking care of.
I hope all of you have a TERRIFIC Tuesday! I am so thankful for this site and all the great useful information and support!0 -
Thank u for ur concern Linda!
I have told my cardiologist, and was given the go ahead. I see my endocrinologist in June 14th. He always has me regulate my meal insulin on my own, it's always according to the amount of carbs for each meal. So, being I exercised a whole lot yesterday and my carbs being low, I just took more than I figured I needed (it happens) But I will discuss it with him. :happy:0 -
Hi everyone!
I gained a few pounds over the weekend, but I'm using the extra weight to fuel some killer workouts this week. Yesterday was cleaning day. I washed, dried and put away 3 loads of laundry, stripped sheets off 4 beds, washed, dried and put them back, did 2 loads of dishes, swept, mopped, cleaned bathrooms, went to the grocery store at 5pm (had mini panic attack when blocked into the bread isle) and made banana muffins- for the kids, not me. I would say that I aggressively swept and mopped, too, so I kept the ol' heart rate up. I'm sure it would have been a funny sight to see.
Today, I did Jillian Michael's Kickbox Fast Fix. It was fun! I can tolerate an intense 30 minute workout, but I get bored easily. I have JM 30 Day Shred, but got tired of the same old thing after a few days. Some days, I just look through my clip outs from Oxygen magazine and do one or two of those workouts. I have one Insanity workout, but all the plyo is tough on my post surgery knee, so I have to modify the jumps to squats and lower impact moves. I have P90X but haven't done those workouts in a while. I'll have to dust them off and give them another go. Get my money's worth!
As far as diet, last weekend was some carbtastic fun! Party is over now. I have made sure to stock the fridge with plenty of induction-friendly foods. I just made chicken salad, too. It's a nice break from bacon, eggs and beef, so it's good to have something like that ready when I get snackish. I've been drinking water like a crazy woman and adding flax and chia seeds to every meal to keep me full (and full of fiber).
Keep up the good work, everyone!0 -
Sing-- You just reminded me that I bought a can of that chuck chicken for a quick lunch! I have to take my other 2 kids to the doctor tomorrow (already had one there today and didn't plan ahead, so I ended up in a drive thru), but I am going to make some low carb chicken salad for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow! Thanks!0
-
Bailey- I'm glad I reminded you. I just realized it was in there- along with canned salmon and clams. Yum. I will be making some seafood stuffed mushrooms soon!0
-
Good morning all! I did great yesterday! Did my 40 minute Insanity workout AND a 37 minute walk!! I got on the scale this morning (couldn't resist not to) and am down 2 pounds!! YeeHaw!!!! I am not going to log my weight though, Friday is my actual weigh-in day and I want to do it Friday's only. Besides, maybe it'll show a bigger loss yet!
I've been wondering...what vitamins/supplements do you all take? I take a multi-vitamin (which I will be switching to gummys. The pills make me gag), L-Carnitine and a colon health probiotic. Is there anything else that is necessary?
Have a great day everyone!0 -
hello friends hope you have an awesome stress free day! looks like everyone is doing great this week,
bailey when you on a low carb diet you lose calcium so calcium citrate is something you want to take,0 -
Congratulations to all the losers!!!!
Bailey: Watch the gummy vitamins, I was going to use them also but they have sugar in them. Sorry!!!! I myself, take an Omega 3, Mutlvitamin, extra Potassium as I have to watch my leg cramps at night and Glucomannan (Konjac Root), which helps keep me full between meals during the day. It is Nothing but FIBER, but you have got to get in those 8 glasses of water.
Blkerica, thanks for the calcium citrate tip. I really could use that.
Singitella: You definitely got in a workout the other day. But take it easy (knee surgery), walking should do just fine until it heals properly. Must give the chia and flax seed a try also. Thanks for the info.
Jenna: Hope you are feeling better today....eat up!!!0 -
Thanks, Linda. I had the surgery a couple of years ago and have graduated from "kneehab". They used part of my own hamstring for the "new" acl, so my right hamstring is still much weaker. I'll definitely take it easy. I do not pivot- no way, no how. That's how it tore in the first place, so I just will not do it. Even Jillian can't make me!
Bailey, I usually take Fish Oil twice a day, Raspberry Ketones (not sure if they work, but yum), sometimes Resveratrol, B Complex vitamins, zinc (especially when the kids are sick), Sam-e and Optimized Saffron. I usually don't take all of these at once, but I alternate. Fish Oil and B Complex are the ones I take most days. Can you tell that I watch Dr. Oz?
Progress: Since Monday morning, I have lost 4 lbs. I'm sure it's mostly water weight, but I'll take it! Also, according to the keto stix, I am well into ketosis- a little darker than moderate. Woohoo! Gives me hope for the rest of the week.
I'm making Mother's Day brunch for my mom, so I'll be safe from things like pancakes, donuts, scones, etc. I'm thinking champagne with selzer instead of orange juice to cut down the sugar- maybe with an orange slice. Quiche and bacon, and maybe low carb cream cheese blintzes -oh yes! I can't wait.0 -
Good morning! (it's still morning here!)
Finally got an appointment with the orthopidic specialist, tomorrow morning! Yay! Hopefully he can do something to help me.
Linda, yep, I have the heel insert/elevators and they do help. They are just the Dr. Sholls ones. Ugg, I hope I don't have to get a shot, I am NOT a shot person, lol! But if it would help, I will suck it up and deal with it. I had to get up and take a potassium tablet in the middle of the night last night. I don't get cramps, it is more restless legs, if I don't have enough water. I drink tons of water, but low carbing seems to suck it all out of me, lol.
I lost .6 lbs! Very happy with my scale this morning. AND I was in "trace" on my keto stick. So a happy day all around. Made a yummy snack last night, softened 2 oz cream cheese, then stirred in 1/2 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa and 2 drops of EZ Sweetz liquid splenda. Yummy! And only 2 carbs!
Anyway, just checking in. Everyone have a great rest of their day!0 -
Thanks Linda and others about supplements. Especially the potassium, b/c I occaisionally get charlie horses in the middle of the night and it's awful! I take calcium, fish oil, multi and vitamin D. the D is only a small gel pill so it's not too bad to swallow. Also, benefiber and Sugar free fiber gummies. I do miss getting in Fiber like I used to (in many ways )
Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

Good morning everyone! How is everyone? I'm super, super sore today! Yesterday I was mildly sore, but man, today I can't even write without my biceps hurting! That's good though! I got on the scale today and am up a pound again. I'm not sure what I blame that on. Not enough water yesterday? Too much sodium? Not sure...Today I am drinking water...a LOT of water!!!! :drinker:
Got my Insanity in this morning and about died. Not really, but man, I am so sore and it's just a killer. Will get my walk in later, too. I am planning on taking either Saturday or Sunday off. Not sure which day, but I strongly believe your body needs a resty day. That's not to say I won't take a walk on that day, depends on how I feel.
I'm having a hard time with what to snack on. Anybody have any ideas? I have tried and tried to like pork rinds, but just can't do it. Everytime I start to eat them I keep saying in my head, "it's pig skin you're eating. It's pig SKIN". Then I gag and can't do it! I want to like them soooo bad!
Have a great day everyone!0 -
Hello all!
Just got back from the Dr. Basically it's just some kind of strain on my achilles tendon. They did x-rays and there is no tears or damage. He gave me some awesome heel cups to try and I am walking a bit better. He thinks it is something that will go away on it's own. If not better in 3 weeks, then call him. He offered me physical therapy but didn't think they would do anything that I couldn't just do on my own (for free!), so I declined, lol. It's just a "wait and see" kinda thing.
So I will just continue with the little bit of walking I do, plus some stretches and maybe some upper body stuff. For a couple more weeks, sigh. I don't see a 5k in my immediate future (Labor Day Weekend).
Bailey, I am right there with you on the pork rinds! I really, really want to like them! A (basically) no carb crunch snack would be awesome. But they just taste nasty to me. I even tried the ones you microwave in bags like popcorn. Dipped them in onion dip. Bleh! Then I tried someone's suggestion of spraying them with butter spray and rolling them in splenda and cinnamon. They said it tasted just like Taco Bell cinnamon crispas. NOT, lol! Those went straight into the trash! I was on www.genaw.com yesterday and she has a couple of recipes with them to try. I am thinking about it. At least my husband likes them and can eat the bags I try for my "experiments".
And you should definitely take a "resty" day! Your muscles need time to recover. That is probably the weight gain too. Muscles hold on to water when they are recovering and you are giving yours a great workout!
Was down another 1.2 lbs this morning! Still not getting too excited though. I know it's water, to be losing this much this fast. But so nice to see that scale going down instead of up! And I was in "small" on my keto stick. Yay!
Well, hope everyone has a wornderful day!0 -
Lol, my husband finishes my bags too I still want to try mozzarella sticks with them though...you roll string cheese in egg, then roll it in crunched up pork rinds and deep fry. YUM...just hope the deep frying will vanish the taste of pork rinds????? I got the hot n spicy ones to cover the "rind" taste LOLHello all!

Sweeteners
Any artificial, non-sugar sweetener is permitted on the Atkins food list. Some of the possibilities include sucralose (Splenda), aspartame (Equal), saccharine (Sweet 'n' Low), and acesulfame potassium (or ace-K, usually found in conjunction with another artificial sweetener). If you prefer a natural sweetener, you may use Stevia-- an intensely sweet herb that is available in both processed and unprocessed, in bulk and in packets, and in most health food and grocery stores.
Sweeteners to avoid include sugar alcohols (maltitol, sorbitol, xylitol), natural sugars (fructose, sucrose, maltose, dextrose, glucose), and such things as honey or corn syrup.
Simple Carbs Should Be Avoided
Your body quickly breaks down simple carbs, giving your blood sugar a spike and sending you running back to the kitchen or snack machine within hours of your last fix. Unless you're an athlete or need a sudden rush of energy for some reason, it's usually best to avoid these carbs in your daily diet:
Refined grains like white bread, white rice and enriched pasta
Processed foods such as cake, candy cookies and chips
White potatoes
Sweetened soft drinks

Good Morning!!!
I am really hyped today. My B/P is down to normal and the scale is going in the right direction. My weigh-in is in on Monday.
Hope everyone else is having a good day. I know the weekend is coming up and we have to stay viligent. I will check back in later.0 -
Too funny about the pork rinds girls! I bought 2 bags to try cause I tend to get the munchies - yuuuuuuck! Although I finished them, darn munchies, but never again. Guess I'll just use my shakes and keep cross stitching like a crazy person lol.
Linda: so glad your BP is down, same for the scale!
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

I have been so excited to tell you about my latest low-carb find!! CHOCO-PERFECTION and SWEET PERFECTION!!!! OMG, soooo good! It's weight loss chocolate. That's right, I said it, weight loss chocolate! The other is a sweetener to use instead of the others sweetners. I got some chocolate yessterday and then ordered the sweetner today. Research it. It's the best chocolate. Not joke. Tastes like an actual candy bar and 2net carbs! AND helps aid in weight loss! Too cool! Pricey, yes. Worthy it? YES!!
Lost 1 pound this week. Set a goal of 2 pounds, but you know what, I lost, so no biggie! Goals are good to have regardless
Check out the choco-perfection website at http://www.lowcarbspecialties.com/ Ever heard of Jimmy Moore? He's lost like 200 pounds on Atkins and is a Choco-perfection "spokesperson". Men's Health magazine has also said how good this product is.
Everyone have a wonderful day!!0 -
Linda, that's great! Keep up the good work.
About the pork rinds... I don't mind the big, fluffy ones, but the more dense, super crunchy ones seem to taste fishy to me for some reason. Not sure what's going on there.
For a crunchy snack, or something to put dip on, I like the Parmesan Crisps by Kitchen Table Bakers. I found them at Wal-Mart, to my surprise. They are very low-carb and I like the cheesy flavor. Here's a recipe if you'd like to try them homemade:

Have a great Mother's Day weekend, everyone!0 -
Thanks Bailey for the heads-up on the sweetener. I researched another site to see if it can be bought cheaper, and Netrition.com sells the sweeetener below at $18.95 for a 1 lb bag, and the bars for $33.99 for 12 bars. Definitely going to try them. Thanks agai, and if anybody can find them cheaper, let us know. We love a great bargain.

Net Carbs actually help with weight loss (when included in a low-carb eating program), due to 14g of prebiotic FOS, candida-cleansing, fiber in every bar. Made from 55% to 63% cocoa solids. No Maltitol. Gluten Free. No Trans Fats.
"
Also, I got some probiotics capsules without Milk, soy and gluten free from Costco called "Trunature" 10 billion active cultures and you don't have to refrigerate it, each capsule is indivudually sealed for around $16.00. You take once per day and you get 100 capsules. This is good for digestive health also.
Thank you all for your tips as well on low carb foods and yes, Jimmy Moore has a great site on the internet with good low carb information. So definitely, check him out.0 -
Mmmmm that chocolate sound delish! Too much for my pocketbook right now though! But I bookmarked it for future ordering. I use EZ Sweetz liquid sweetener that I get from EZSweetz.com. It's pretty cheap and I really like it. It's just liquid splenda. Zero carbs. But no health benefits or weight loss help, lol. They will send you a free sample bottle to try, you just have to pay $1.99 shipping.
I was down another pound today!! Yay! I am enjoying the losses but holding my breath, waiting for them to suddenly stop, lol!
My foot is feeling better with these new inserts, am walking much better today, so hopefully I will be 100% soon!
Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day weekend! Our internet has been down for a week (stupid HughesNet) so I probably won't be back on the forums till Monday. I can log from my IPhone though.0 -
Impressive! You are a quick researcher! Thanks for finding that site! I will be looking at it as soon as I type this. I ordered my sweetener on amazon lastnight for $46 I know for next time, though! Thanks Linda! Let me know what you think of them! They are soooo good! The mint ones taste like an actual andes mint and the almond and raspberry are great too! I have every flavor, just haven't tried them all yet. They are sooo filling, too! That's from the fiber in them, no doubt. Anyway, thanks for finding them cheaper! Thanks Bailey for the heads-up on the sweetener. Glad to know that your foot is feeling better. I know that is a "relief" for sure. Just take it easy through the healing process.
Thank you for your tip on the sweetener too.
