Well the good news is that my thyroid is no longer underactive so I definitely DO need to be eating 2400 on a rest day. Yikes. I managed to complete last week on just on 2400 average and this week I plan to do the same again - I should get nearer my true TDEE since I am sick and shouldn't really be working out. The even better news is that I still fit in my size 0 jeans!

Oh my, just got a HUGE shock.

Decided to get on the scale since I realized that the length of the Reset depends on when my weight stabilizes.

Oh my, UP another 8 pounds!! For a grand total of 16 pounds since starting EM2WL.

Guys, I am in dangerous territory healthwise~ I am only 5'0" and weigh 215.5~ I am officially TWO people now.

    Scared. Talk to me.......

Hang in there Rosie.. not much longer to go.. and then that weight will melt off of you. Think of all the good things you are doing for yourself, for your health. You can do it!!!

Today is day 7 of my diet break, I haven't decided if I am going to continue for one more week or not. I am leaning towards not because I think I am going to do this every 4 weeks.

And I am already used to those extra calories, not sure what I will want to cut out now lol.

In those 7 days my weight has stayed the same, no gain and no loss (which is crazy because I was maintaining like that with 500 less calories). AND......I have lost a half inch off my waist!!!

Its easy to get comfortable at TDEE, isnt it?:) Great job on finishing a full week!! I hope it helps get things going again for you!

    FINAL WEEK!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOTTTT!!!

omG i'm soooo excited for you!!! and envious haha :flowerforyou:

I actually lost track of time with being busy and stuff and turns out i'm finishing week 4 tomorrow :) Can't believe I made it this far. I had actually convinced myself at the beginning of last week that I was going to cut and got myself all psyched up for more exercise but instead convinced myself to stay on reset. Sometimes I think i'm my own worst enemy...well actually I KNOW I am haha That's probably where I got off-track with my time. But Wednesday I start week 5 amazingly. No changes other then inches lost. My weight has been the same. Still only gained 4 non-water weight pounds since the beginning. Still can't WAIT to cut!!!

I've decided to start my cut today after 7.5 wks! I can't believe it's been that long...and I'm glad yet sad it's over. I noticed last night after eating at my TDEE how hungry I still was....I went to bed with my stomach growling!!! Overall my reset: only a 2lb weight gain, no huge signaficant change in inches, but a huge mental and emotional gain!!! I feel so much better, healthier, like I finally understand WTH my body is trying to tell me! Just wanted to thank everyone for the support! I was one of the silent, stalky types--didn't speak up much, but I read every word y'all posted and it made a HUGE difference to me! Thank you! You folks rock my socks!! So, off to start my journey...I'm already looking forward to 6 weeks from now when I return to TDEE!! hee hee!! Wish me luck!!! :)

    PS>>> This is DOABLE!

Hang in there Rosie. Remember this weight could be a number of things, not a real gain! When the body starts to repair itself, blood and organs do their share of repair work, so being up eight pounds does NOT mean 8 pounds of fat! There's likely quite a bit of water in there also!

How many weeks into EM2WL are you?

So I am 12 weeks total into EM2WL.
I ate at Cut (TDEE- 15%) for 9 of those weeks
I've completed 3 weeks of Reset and am in Week 4 now.

I gained 8 pounds on Cut in 9 weeks
I just gained ANOTHER 8 pounds on Reset in 3 weeks. (I am also a month into NROLFW)

ANYWAY~thank you all for the support and I DO feel better!

My brain has taken over and I realize that I had reverted to my "comfort zone" of "scale mentality".:explode:

I did my NROLFW workout and was especially BADASS:smokin: so that really lifted my spirits too:tongue:

This morning was just such a shock and a flood of emotions came over me~ all of them BAD and counterproductive.

SO, Dear Ones, Rosie's First Whine is officially OVER and let the smiley posts begin!!!:heart:

Hang in there. I think that the last four weeks actually went by quicker than the first four. Not sure why that is, but you're right that it's such a mental game. Watch out for week six - seems like many of us hit a wall at that point. You can do it!

Hi Y'all - Still feeling pudgy but am mentally better with it....I got a bit off track this weekend - it was warm & my appetite always disppears in the heat. And I just felt off this - sniffly & head was cloudy....and TIRED....man I will be glad when that side effect is gone.

I am starting week 7 and can't believe that I am on the downard slide.

@Rayann - you are a wise woman! And double WOOT-WOOT for entering yoru final week!!!!!! Keep us posted on your cut progress.....

@2knoxs - you got the numbers right...and check out some of the other stickies - there are ideas for increasing calories in a cost effective way.

@rosied915 - wow - you rock! What a great NSV...you show those youngin's how you work it. Don't sweat the scale....it is not true "fat" pounds....you have not ate an additional 56,000 calories.

@mariababe81 - stick with it....it gets better....the bloat comes and goes (at least for me)....go to www.eatmore2weighless.com - Kiki & Lucia posted a blog about the bloat.

@curioushealthy - so jealous that you have been able to hit your macros with good, clean foods...I still struggle with this. The exhaustion phase hit me about week 6 (last week) and I am hoping it goes away this week. Naps just aren't my thing but I took one on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

@TripleJ3 - LOL - I am thinking the same thing about resetting my cut number....these 5 pounds that I have gained means more food :).

@findingmyhapp - the journey begins with one small step....and getting rid of the scale is a great move...lessens the stress of the number. I didn't weigh myself for the first 4 weeks of my reset and now only do it weekly just to ensure that I have in fact hit my TDEE. And so jealously inspired by your profile picture...and size 0 jeans...hee-hee

@Sweatpants - how did the party go? LOL - I would do the same thing regarding my diet...always tweaking something. I will be interested to see how you do with hitting your protein macro with a more plant-based diet...I could learn something from you...

@Heidi - extra calories are good :). Nice NSV with the 1/2 inch loss around your waist.

@gijane - Welcome! Congrats on hitting your macros - it took me awhile to master that and most days it is still a work in progress.

@littlepink - it's amazing how quick the time goes isn't it? I am starting week 7 and can't believe it.

@Jamie - keep us posted on how your cut goes...I am about 2 weeks behind you and will be interested to learn from your experience. Yeah - this is DOABLE!

Just checkin' in...sorry, I haven't had a lot of time to spend in the forums lately. Summer is here and I get so busy away from my computer! I do try to at least read through what I can from time to time though to keep up with all of your lives and progress, but even that is usually from my phone and responding from that thing is painful...lol

Today is the start of my final week of reset (8 weeks). I have stabilized in my weight other than a brief jump due to TOM. I feel good about pretty much everything right now. I'm still obviously overweight and am really looking forward to starting to lose that, but I feel mentally much more content with diet, exercise and life in general. I am healthier by far than I was 15 weeks ago when I started this EM2WL journey and that is just worth so much.

I've started watching my diet to prepare myself for ways to drop a few calories without feeling too deprived at first. I've been warned how hard it is to go to cut after a reset so I want to prepare as much as possible mentally for that...if that is even possible. Although, my history and personality has proven that I'm more likely to do very well at cutting and will be tempted to lose TOO fast, so I'm also trying to reign in those thoughts of self-discipline that might take me too far the other way again. Balance....Balance....I don't want to wind up back in this situation again!! :noway:

I know there are a few of you on your last week with me....almost there!!! :flowerforyou:

I'm tryng to keep up with everyone and offer support when I can, but I haven't been great at it. Hope everyone is doing well.

2 weeks to my cut and I can't wait!!!

    WHINE ALERT......

So i'm a few days into week two of my reset. By the end of last week, i was feeling good. Actually hungry and pretty much hitting my 2600 (!) every day. Well, the past 3 days have not been good! I am only hitting closer to my cut calories AND gaining weight still. Tell me this works. PLease. Cuz i'm soooooo scared. BEfore starting my reset i was already 12 lbs up from my lowest weight from doing medifast. NOw i'm up even more from that :( Am i gonna stop gaining BEFORE i cut? I knopw the numbers aren't an exact science. Is there any way that the scooby calculator gave me too many calories????

Kinda freaking out. I still have HUNDREDS more cals for today. NOthing is appealing, i'm kinda scared to eat and i'm not hungry enough to eat 500 calories worth :(

Sigh. THis is gonna be a long road isn't it?

Side note: so many of my relatives are losing weight and it's hard to hear/see their weekly progress reports when i'm going in the opposite direction ::/

SOrry. I warned you about the whining :)

Im in my second week and im starting to notice that im hungry more, however i dont want to eat all my 2100 calories because my BMF tells me i burn less. I cycle a lot and i know that its not really accurate for that, and i was already at maintanance and its ok to gain a little to loose the last bit of tummyfat so you can seem my abs :D.

Im starting to feel scared to eat more because i will gain (wich i rationally know is ok cause it will be easier to loose some weight again and stay on my target weight when im done but look nicer)

    ARGH!

On a side note, my foot is getting better with the medication. Maybe it is osteoarthritis / joint inflammation afterall >< Read somewhere else in this forum that inflamations in joints can be caused by food allergy.... not sure how i will know if its that, or how i will find out if it is an allergy...

I've only just started but all I can suggest is you go through the forums and read others advice etc / success.

Thats what I will do if I start struggling.

Whatever you do - don't give up - think long term, do you really want to go back to the cycle of yo-yo'ing on lower calories? This is sustainable for life, hang in there.

Take a deep breath first of all. It's ok. It is normal and part of the journey. Your body is not used to getting food on a regular basis and is taking everything in you give. Until your body realizes, that you will keep feeding, and that there is no famine around the corner.

Just be consistent. Stick with it. Make shakes, to get your calories in. I know it is hard, sometimes, but it is only for a short time compared to the rest of your life. If you hang in there now, you will profit from it for the long term.

I know it seems it takes forever, but you will see, time flies by. The gain is normal. I am into my last week of reset and have gained 10 lbs. But I am certain they will all come off shortly. Just believe in the process and keep your calm.

We are here to support you all the way.
You just have to stay strong.
  • Hi all,

    I need some help!!!

Day 3, and I feel nauseous and I have a headache, I also do not have much energy and just feel overall gross.

**I think I increased my calories too quickly**

I have changed my goal to 1500 calories this week and always to eat above my BMR

But I know this is normal and my body telling me what I was doing

First do you workout during your reset? If not, do you change your TDEE?

Also I burn 2000 calories by walking with day to day activities, so should I still do 2 days of cardio at the gym.

Currently I do a full body circuit at the gym and 2 full body circuits at home.

Should I continue to do that? Or should I do more weight workouts with splits instead.

Also I have a knee injury so some lower body strength training may not work for me.

    Please advise!

    Current TDEE: 2367

I was thinking of doing 3 full body workouts (2x a day too much???) every week and 2 cardio workouts (20 mins???) per week???

It definitely seems reasonable that you could be experiencing some discomfort as your body adjusts to your new calorie intake. Based on your workouts though, it will be hard, if not impossible, for you to net your BMR with only 1500 calories intake. What is your BMR?

How you choose to get all the way to your TDEE is up to you. Many people have found if they push through the intial blah, bloat, etc...that they adjust to the higher calorie intake within a few weeks and even start to feel hungry!

Two times a day for full body workouts is not going to allow proper recovery time. Muscle growth actually occurs during rest - not during the workout itself. If you want to make it easier to reach your TDEE and stay above BMR, cutting back the high burn workouts will help.

Hang in there. The reset is not the easiest thing to do in the world - especially in the beginning, but it's definitely worth it to give your body some love. I hope this helps a bit.
  • Thank you! That was very helpful!

    My BMR is 1367

So would you suggest going straight to the TDEE of 2367 and work through the side effects?

    Thanks for the help!

    Sorry, I am so confused!

Well, I'm not in your body so I don't feel exactly how you do, so I don't want to tell you yes, you have to do it this way. I know that just getting the big jump overwith is what works for a lot of people. However, if it's just too lousy for you, there's nothing wrong with stepping it up bit by bit. If you decide to go a more gradual route, with your BMR at 1367, I'd suggest at least 1800 to start so that you are likely netting over BMR on workout days. You could work up from there. I do hope the physical ailments subside soon. Once you are consistently getting in your TDEE, you will likely find a health improvement. Better sleep, better energy, etc...So know that things will look up once you get through the inital hump!
  • Thank You! Thank you! I went back to the original plan of eating to my TDEE and plan to do so for at least 8 weeks! I can do this! I will stick it out until the end.

What do I have to lose :)

    Have a super day!!! :)
