Hi everyone!!! This is my first pregnancy and it is a roller coaster. Some days I am fine other days I am an emotional wreck. I am worried about my diet. I track everything and workout six days a week. I am hungry all the dang time now and not quite sure what to do. I don't want to blow up like a balloon and end up gaining too much weight. Not to mention I am super stressed cause of my family. Sometimes I just feel alone. My fiance is in a little bit of denial I think. Help help!!!

How far along are you? Try some prenatal yoga & pilates a few days a week. There's a few videos on YouTube. It'll help with your stress. I had increased hunger all throughout my 1st trimester & it was mostly carbs!

    Pre pregnancy 109lbs 5'1"

    5 weeks 109 lbs
    13 weeks 114lbs
Gained about 5-6lbs during my first trimester. Aiming to gain 35lbs. Gained 34lbs with baby #1.
    14 weeks- 116lbs (+7)
    16 weeks- 118lbs (+9)
    17 weeks- 119lbs (+10lbs)
    19 weeks- 119lbs (+10lbs)
No weight gain on my scale. My doctors scale says I gained 18lbs when I went in on Tuesday! I think I'll trust my scale since I've been using it since the beginning. At my doctors office, the scales vary on which room I use & time of day I go.
    20 weeks- 120lbs (+11)
    21weeks-121lbs (+12)
    22 weeks- 122lbs (+13lbs)
I've been very stressed this week so I'm surprised that I didn't gain more! Going to the fair Sunday so next time I weigh in might be a doozy!
    24 weeks- 127lbs (+18lbs)
Huge growth spurt + stress of packing for our new house. Need to focus on eating better! I've been shoving junk food down my throat for a few weeks now.

    25 weeks- 128lbs (+19lbs)

    27 weeks- 133lbs! (+24lbs)
Just got a stove & did some grocery shopping today. I'm ready to get back into a normal routine!
  • 15 weeks pregnant with third baby and weigh 120. Starting weight was 117 @ 5'4. 3 pounds gained as of this morning. My weight keeps on jumping all over the place though, tomorrow I'll probably wake up weighing 123.

    1st pregnancy
    Height: 5'6
    Pre-pregnancy goal weight: 120

At home scale: reading 120 - 121 in February (unknowingly pregnant) but I don't know how much I trust that compared to those in the doctors' offices.
March 26 - 8 weeks, 2 days: appointment with primary doctor to confirm pregnancy, weight = 123.0
    April 14 - 11 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 123.8
April 19 - 11 weeks, 4 days: 1st ultrasound, weight = 121.0 (she didn't use the same digital scale this time so I don't buy this weight...)
    May 19 - 16 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 124.7
    June 16 - 20 weeks: 2nd ultrasound, weight = 128 (home scale, right before appt, read 126.6)
June 23 - 21 weeks: 131 (Yikes, a 3 pound gain!! baby girl must have had a growth spurt this week!!)
July 14 - 24 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 132.1 (home scale, right before appt, read 131.4)
    July 30 - 26 weeks, 2 days: 133.2, home scale
August 4 - 27 weeks: 137.2, home scale - after calorie intake was done for the day. 5 pounds in 3 weeks seems reasonable but 4 of it was in the last week.
August 11 - 28 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 136.4. 4.3 pound gain since last routine appointment.
August 25 - 30 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 140.4. Another 4 pounds between dr appointments, YIKES!
September 8 - 32 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 140. Holding steady for now; back to loss of appetite though...
    September 22 - 34 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 147.
October 6 - 36 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 148. 8 pounds in roughly 6 weeks, can't really complain. Especially, since my doctor is very pleased with how I've progressed.
October 13 - 37 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 145.6. It appears to be a loss but they finally used the digital scale that most of my weigh-in's have been on.
October 20 - 38 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 149. Back to the old-school scale that seems to add 2 pounds. I really think they need to wait for it to actually balance before jotting down my "weight".

October 27 - 39 weeks: routine appointment, weight = 146.7. Weighted on the digital scale this time.

1 week left and up 27ish pounds!!! Next appointment (if she doesn't come by then) we're discussing induction. I was originally against getting induced but now that I'm here at the end...I JUST WANT HER OUT!!! My emotions are CRAZY right now.

Only a slight gain this week, and I actually suspect it's less because I overdid it on activity with Halloween and all that. I feel like I'm retaining some water from it. Guess I'll see as the week progresses!

I haven't weighed every week as I'm trying not to focus on the fact I'm gaining weight (hard to really convince yourself it (should) be all baby when you see the scale go in the other direction), but so far only 10 lbs gained at 21 weeks. Much better than the first go around (gained 40-45 lbs total and hoping NOT to do that again!).

Ouch! Big jump this week. I know it's still not that much but it hurts cause I know this was the first week of not logging food/working out/checking my blood sugar. Ugh. Back to it!

I started out having a bad week, but I was able to reign in it a little bit, thankfully. So this week there was only a small gain, yay! I need to be more on par with calories with the holidays coming up, so that I have some overhead room.

Started previous pregnancies around 145 and ended up around 190.

    Week 4. 160 lbs
    Week 10 161 lbs
    Week 11 159.6 lbs
    Week 12 160 lbs
    Week 13 159.2 lbs
    Week 14 160.2 lbs
    Week 15 160.8 lbs
    Week 16 160.8 lbs
    week 17 162lbs
    Week 18 163.4 lbs
    Week 19 165 lbs
    Week 20 167.4 lbs
    Week 21 169 lbs
    Week 22 172.6 lbs
    Week 23 172.4 lbs
    Week 24 173 lbs

It is weird that in my other 2 pregnancies I also had a 10-14 lbs gain week 18-22. I didn't want to be up this much yet but I am only a few pounds heavier than my other pregnancies at the same point except I started those ones 15 lbs lower than this time.

My calorie intake hasn't really changed but the macros have. I ate very high protein at the beginning because roast beef was the only thing that didn't make me throw up. Now I'm craving cereal but any day I have it for breakfast, I gain half a pound.

    Hey ladies,

This is my first pregnancy, I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and I am still at -3lbs. (I lost 6 lbs in the 6th-13th week due to nausea and I gained 4 back in the second trimester but then lost another pound at some point in the past 3 weeks.)

I've found that it's really hard to eat enough to gain, with my maintenance calories around 1950 + 300 baby calories + 300-550 exercise calories (around 2,560 total a day to maintain) with any extra calories to actually gain weight would be approaching 3,000 calories a day. I am 5,8" but with a short torso, so if I eat too much at once I end up vomiting because of the baby pressing against my stomach. I have been eating 5-6 meals a day, and even gone for higher calorie foods I gave up years ago but I still can't seem to gain any weight. I've tried drinking calories by having chocolate almond milk or orange juice but I still feel queasy if my stomach gets too full even of beverages.

I've had 5 ultrasounds so far, and the baby is measuring correctly to the day each time so I know she's receiving the proper amount of nutrients but my doctor has mentioned the lack of weight gain the past 2 visits and said to try and gain at least 10 pounds.

Does anyone who has able to gain have advice for how to eat enough to gain? I can't cut back much on exercise, I have a high family risk of preeclampsia, so I lap swim (slow paced breaststroke) 5 days a week. I used to do elliptical or walk the other days but I rest on those days now.

Eat foods that are more calorie dense. It's not about the quantity of food that you eat, it's the caloric content.

I don't think you need to worry too much about gaining the right amount of weight. My OB hasn't once weighed me nor shown any interest in my weight gain. The important thing is that the baby is gaining weight/size appropriately and has a strong heart beat. Odds are, if you're eating more than 2000 calories a day, you're getting adequate nutrition to support the growing baby. If I were you, I would only worry about it if your doctor tells you that s/he is concerned.
