I am so glad that I found this. I am 7 weeks, had gained ~8 lbs as of last Friday, and have been pretty stressed about it.
Morning sickness has been miserable for the past two weeks so I've pretty much given myself a pass to eat anything I want as long as I can keep it down...
It's really a relief to see such a variety of weight gains from other people and to know that several of you gained this much or more during your pregnancies, had healthy babies, and were able to lose the weight after.0 -

This whole month Ive eaten much worse than I typically do due to nausea! I had so many aversions that only junk food and carbs appealed. Luckily this week Ive been much better and able to eat vegetables and some of my more normal meals again, so Im hoping that'll slow the gaining. Last pregnancy with my son I gained 30 lbs, and also started off that pregnancy a lot heavier than I am this time. So my goal this time is to gain 20-25 lbs and to keep active as close to the end as possible.0 -

Second week of losing! Somewhat relieved to only be at +2.2 lbs at this point. With my first, I gained a total of 30 lbs, and had only gained 3 lb first trimester. My goal is to gain a little less this time, so I wasnt happy when I was close to my first trimester goal at only 9 weeks. I havent tried to lose weight. Just less nauseous, and able to eat healthier again.0 -
Side benefit of weighing myself regularly during pregnancy, which I never did for either of my previous pregnancies: when the scale jumps 2 pounds in a day or two, I know it’s time for Colace.3

I read a recent paper from the National Institutes of Health saying that doctors and patients should be worrying more about body composition than weight gain during pregnancy and I tend to agree. I really don't want to fuss about the scale... it makes me anxious and it makes me focus on the wrong things. I'd rather go off measurements of my arms and thighs and other spots that wouldn't necessarily change much if I was just gaining a lot of baby/placenta/fluid weight. Anyone else feel the same?2

Big gain this week, I have such an appetite I then am punished for with terrible heartburn. I need to figure out how to manage both with smaller but filling more frequent meals.
@luckywizard I think every pregnant woman should do what works for them. I like to weigh myself weekly because I want to gain consistently and in my biggest gain wks I was eating less healthy options so for me it's been on the money. But measurements would work too, I really have only gained in belly/ bust. Out of curiosity bc people kept saying I was having a girl (team green) because of my "growing" hips I checked a few wks ago, and hips were 1/4" smaller than the last measurement before I got pregnant. So lol I guess that means my weight/ size is really just baby centric. I think if you end up with bad fluid retention/swelling it will show up in both scale and measurements so there is no way good of accounting for that.2 -

There is no update for Week 39 because I gave birth one week ago at 38 weeks and 4 days! My little peanut was born 10/18/17 at 6 lb 5 oz and 18.5 inches
She is absolutely perfect and we are SO happy. She had a crazy entrance to the world as she was sunny side up and her shoulders got stuck. Her heartrate dropped and the vacuum didn't work so I ended up with an emergency c section, but both she and I are doing well!
I still feel like I have a lot of excess fluids in me from the full 24 hours of IV before she was even born. This morning I was 173.6 so down a full 10 pounds, but I think I am done here! I'm glad I tracked my weight weekly as it made me made some better food choices and finishing at 30 pounds gained makes me pretty happy

I give up! I've been good this week and not eaten a lot by my standards but have still been piling on the pounds. I guess my body is going to do what it wants regardless of what I put in it. Im pretty sure I've got a tooth infection which makes eating very tricky - hopefully it will help get my eating under control!0
