The beautiful Zim Zim Valley in the Knoxville Wilderness Area, north of Lake Berryessa, CA. 8+ mile round trip to hike the valley to the top of the waterfall.

You have to cross the creek nine times as you head up the valley.

Hiked the Clark Trail today. It is 5.3 miles of Missouri Hills. I found myself doing it for more of a workout than enjoying the view. Though there is nothing wrong with that, sometimes I would rather "stop and smell the roses."

Had the day off yesterday and the sun was shining ... so off I went for my first hike of spring. I hadn't been to the Stevensville Conservation Area before so I checked it out. I took the hike around the pond. It made and eerie sound as the sun's heat started melting the pond's ice. It was like it was hanging on for dear life. But Spring is in the air.

A nice bridge welcome's you to the trail

4667 calorie burn today, but the pain was worth having my first Spring hike of 2014.

Beautiful pictures! I so envy you. Saw a woodpecker myself, unfortunately I'm limited to my phone. It would have been so nice to have been able to take a close up.

Took a hike in Niagara Falls today and ended up down by the falls. Lovely to see at this time of year. Some pretty awesome ice formations.

I should have obeyed this sign ... couple of pretty slippy dangerous spots near the top.

    Great pics from Niagara!!!

I hiked a state park called Lone Elk today in West St. Louis County. It is a 3.2 mile hike around a lake, with the potential to see elk at any turn. There is a road that goes around the lake as well. The road also enters an area with buffalo. It is one of my favorite hikes in St. Louis area.

That sounds like an awesome place to hike. You have to go pretty high around here to catch a glimpse of elk

But you have to stay in your car to see the buffalo/bison. Thank goodness!!

@ JO I'm the same way. I love sharing pictures of where I've been. I'm jealous that you can get that close to elk where you are.

Very short hike (2m) yesterday at Pickle Springs State Natural Area near Hawn State Park.. If I were by myself I'd do it more than once.

    Nice bluff
