Great pics Super Amy and nice video Hiker Dude. Didn't think I'd get a hike in today, but the rain stopped at 2 or so, so I hit the Clark Trail. Joe
I wasn't able to cross this creek last week due to the rains.
Today's trail wasn't this bad for the most part.
I'm really enjoying seeing other photos and hearing about all your great adventures!!!0 -
No hiking this weekend but I am planning on getting the kayak wet with a jaunt down the Stillwater River.
I've also started planning a backpacking trip to Big South Fork in Kentucky/Tennessee. If anyone has any favorite trails there please chime in.0 -
We just had a new park open last week - the trail is a former section of Highway 1 in an area called Devil's Slide. The road had to be closed so often due to slides that they eventually built a tunnel that was completed last year. It's awesome that they turned the old road into a walking/biking path! Finally had a chance to go walk it after work yesterday.
Wow! What a fantastic view!0 -
I've been waiting 3 yrs. to do this hike. It's all about timing , weather, and a hiking buddy or 2 that want to shuttle cars. Welp, it finally happened. We all wanted to do something challenging and with avalanche season here, we are limited. So Rattlesnake Mountain it was!!! 10.8 miles, 3384 total ascent 5 1/2 hours. (not counting the long breaks we took to admire the beauty of nature)
View from the first ledge (first 2 miles)
MEEEE
I do believe this was the only flat spot in 10 miles

Sharing our lunch
View of Mt Si ( I hike up there all the time) Ha ! Poor souls that worked hard to get to top of that had NO view. Socked in with clouds. Glad I'm on the other side

Went on another hike along Wood BisonTrail in Elk Island Park. Came across some Buffalo, its an impressive site when they run.
Later on we came across a dead coyote along the trail. Provides us with a reminder of the cycle of life.0 -
Great pics everyone. I'm getting jealous of the hikes you are doing (in a good way)!!!! Joe0

The buffalo decided to move on...we must have made too much noise.0 -

Today my friends and I hiked the Wallace falls loop trail in Gold Bar WA. So much fun. 10.2 miles round trip, and not as much rain as we expected. Burned 3006 calories in 5 hours.
Sattelite view of my GPS tracks.
Mt Index and Persis?

Hi hikers! Thinking of hiking Isle Royal this summer. Any one been there? Went hiking in the Catskills a couple of weeks ago. Still much ice. Needed spikes!0

OK , this isn't really a hike, but what's a hike? I was on trails , had trail shoes, and was accompanied by 2 awesome hiking dogs
Just thought this would be fun to share.
There is a park very close to my house. It used to be property of a mental institution, that was self sufficient. They raised their own chickens, pigs, and garden. CRAZY HUH? They since have moved the hospital across the road and tore down the old one (used to be our favorite place to visit on Halloween when were were teenagers). 350 acres and over 10 miles of trails. Doggy heaven
Today we walked 3.12 miles and burned 307 calories.
My Senior dog - 12 yrs old and still going strong.
My buddy Baxter
From this hill on a clear day you can see Mt Rainier and the South Cascades , more trails on the other side of the lake, just like hiking back there!
Lower trail
The old silos and barns. My daughters engagement photos were taken near these barns

Got out for a quick (~2 mi) hike after work yesterday. This area is Fort Funston, part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It's a good workout even for a short hike, since the area is all sand dunes so any time you're going up hill you really have to work for it!

Omy Goodness! How beautiful! Great shots!0 -
I turned 50, so I stepped away from real life to walk with the living
Pictures and videos can not do this trip justice , but I tried. I have a friend who lives in Oregon, so she came up and hung out at my camp for a couple of hours, to honor my birthday.
Here's a video of my trip. I'm not much into talking to a camera, especially driving 70 mph, so don't laugh at me seeming distracted at the beginning hahaha.

Nice pics everyone, love how close you got to that curious ram. I've been doing a lot of short hikes around WA, mostly I-90 corridor hikes so I can fit them into life, but only crappy phone pics if anything, not much to share.0

Last week I had Monday off from work and decided to hike to the summit of Jack London State Park - and also do some geocaching along the way. It was a gorgeous and warm day, but the mosquitoes were absolutely insane in the shade! Tried my best to do any stopping and resting in the full sunshine - though I definitely got eaten alive anyway, since all the geocaches I was looking for were under the trees. Got myself up to the summit, and then ran back down to the parking lot... running is so much easier when it's all downhill! All in all, 8 miles total.
Selfie in the sun.
Nice view about 3/4 of the way up to the summit.
The summit in view!
View from a trail I'd never been on before.
Lovely spot called May's Meadow.0
