    I was listening to NPR this morning, and there was a story that the number of people who report to their doctors that they get NO physical activity in their "leisure" time has increased substantially, but the number of calories consumed has stayed about the same, over the last several decades. Someone on the program was saying that if folks would simply climb stairs for 2 extra minutes per day, that would combat the average weight gain per year for Americans...

    This website and this challenge group is GREAT because it's fighting the trend in our culture (yes, I know there are folks who aren't from the USA on here, but I suspect the trend is growing in other places as well) to sit on our butts and do nothing. Keep moving folks - it feels great to be part of the group that is setting a different trend.

    My daily average has gone up - that's what happens when I don't feel like going for a bike ride. I had a lovely time chasing around the rocks my son yesterday though.

    DJMICHAELS - I haven't ever really tried to match up who is enrolled in the Fitbit group with the spreadsheet. I pretty much have just relied on each person telling one of the Group Mods here. So if there's anyone else in the Fitbit Group wondering when you're going to get it noted on the spreadsheet, the answer is 'Never' until you tell me to add you! (or Dino, Janet, Denise or Holli) :bigsmile::wink:

    I tried the exercise bike...and laughed myself right off. Short legs + ankle to knee walking cast + an attempt to pedal = no bueno. roflmao.gif



    August 1-4 (I got in just under 2.5 miles walking today before I called it quits. :wink: )

    Strength and Stretch class this AM, and then gardening and garage cleansing. No real mileage from any of that. But this evening I added 2.28 miles on the stationary bike.

    August total so far = 12.48.
