Challenge for the week: burn 3500 calories & 25 miles, I don't care if it's walking/biking/running/swimming/elliptical, etc. just get them done! If you already average 25 miles a week then I challenge you to do them doing something other than what you normally do and/or double it. * You can use the calories you burn in those 25 miles towards your weekly burn goal.

* Please don't use your daily activity steps as your miles, nor your total daily calorie burn for just breathing. Please only use exercise miles & exercise calories burned. Thank you.

    This might be a dumb question but I was wondering if the + challenge for the week was strictly physical/ exercise or if it could be nutritional too. Just thought I'd ask :)

    Sorry for the delay, I was discussing it w/my fellow moderators. We think that periodically (not every week) there could be a nutritional challenge that the winner can choose for us to do.

    It seems like a lot more this time! I hope I don't get confused! Scared to try for 3500 calorie (as that is going to start to make a scary deficit on here. haha, but I don't want to get kicked out so! Here I go!

    A little disappointed to learn the recumbent bike in my building doesn't work, as that is my go to.

    Think of it as an opportunity to try something new. You may discover a new go to. When the treadmill went out @ my work gym I started using the elliptical & I loved it. Now I rarely use the treadmill.

    This week it's the same 3500. I only added the miles, but they can count towards the 3500 calorie burn. But I can't guarantee it will stay @ 3500, it will depend on the winner & what goal they choose for us. You won't get kicked out, I know you workout hard. I never begrudge anyone that tries, even if they don't meet the goal, they tried & that to me says a lot.

    For the additional challenge I will try to get in 25 miles walking, water jogging or on the elliptical. I already ride my bike about 50 miles per week, so that would not give me anything extra.

    So far today have run 4.75 km.(just under 3 miles) - 252 calories burned Is a beginning for the week. I am currently training for a half marathon in October so this will encourage me to get my runs in. Now to figure out how to eat less! Need to burn another 248 calories....

    From 1st September, I plan to start waking up to make full use of the gym in my basement. I will set my phone alarm to go off between 4:30 a.m and 5:00 a.m. to do my exercise.
    I am going to focus more on 30 Day Shred, more Kettle Bell exercises and The Firm DVDs.

    25 miles will come from walking in the evening.
