Morning everyone. Just back from my later than normal Saturday morning swim. 440m breast, 440m back, 720m free, then 200m back, 200m breast, 400m free. Finished with a couple of fly laps and finally managed to do 40m non-stop (2 lengths) - woo hoo! I am getting there.

    Great workout, Panda!!!!!

No swimming the past few days (uncooperative weather) & I won't be able to go in the water Mon-Thurs. this coming week. Hopefully I can at least do a little bit tomorrow.......

Panda, Good job on the consecutive fly laps! Fly is a real killer!

I swam Friday but 2km instead of usual 2.4 as had to rush off for a meeting afterwards!

I believe it was also my second day since I began the tumble turns and hopefully the elimination of a lot the resting times will reduce overall swim time further!

Another great swim this morning. Alternated 200m back, 200m crawl, 200m breast for an hour with a final distance of 2.5km. Feeling good.

Just back from the pool on this horrible wet UK bank holiday - repeated yesterday's session and finished with 4 laps of fly (but with breaks in between).

Great workouts by both of you, Panda & Bruce!!!! Can't go in the water until Thursday afternoon at the earliest, probably won't get any more lap swimming in until Thursday, Sept. 4 BUT that's when I'm back in NY after the summer & should be able to start getting my long workouts in 4-5 days a week, along with some walking.......

1.5 miles tonight. Plus some running/walking this morning. Feeling strong. Plan on doing 2 miles tomorrow. If all goes well.

My swim today was a 100 metre pull.

It is sad and pathetic but a sprained ankle means I cannot kick and I can even feel the strain just pulling.

It will be at least a month before I will be back in the pool. Even if my ankle gets better the pools are closed for maintenance till mid Sept and I will then be away for a wedding.

Ashen, although it sucks not being able to swim the pool being closed is a blessing because it will allow your ankle to heal & then you can get back to it at 100% health instead of not allowing the ankle to heal properly......

Mrs J1 that is impressive. Might have to do something like that myself.

Swam yesterday and today - did the same thing both days - 2km in 45 mins mixing up free, breast and back. Pool was too busy to get any fly done.

Carbis Bay, Cornwall, UK. 16C, 30 minutes, strong swell but waves were gentle. SEa temperature starting to feel fresh after a warm summer.
  • Yay I can join in this thread!
Yes I did swim today :D I swam a total of 1736m in an hour. Managed 116 (x14m) lengths of breaststroke without stops (putting feet down), plus 8 lengths of front crawl kick while I practised turning my head out of the water to breathe. Going to master this and will then introduce the arms. :) Overall very pleased with today's swim.

Great job, IHTOAU!!!! Keep at the freestyle, you'll have it down in no time!!!
  • :) thanks! I've been looking on speedos pace club website and they've got a "development" section with workouts/drills for freestyle so I've got a few more to play with :) my aim once I'm back at school is to do 30 mins breaststroke, however many lengths, just to get my heart up at a consistent rate, then spend 10-15 mins practicing my freestyle. That way if I balls it up it won't impact on my burn, but at the same time I'm still developing and improving :) one day I'll swim a mile freestyle :) but for now 28m with good form will do me :)

OK, the depression is setting in today...My YMCA has been closed since Aug. 22. I was able to swim at our downtown location twice, but I had my heart set on swimming today. Nope, they don't open until tomorrow. And I cannot swim before Friday. Ugh:cry:
