1600yds/45 minutes at the Y. I don't usually swim on Saturdays but figured I would check out the 8-10 am lap swim. It was great! I'm usually done swimming as the sun is rising so it seemed really bright out and since I didn't go until 8:20, I had breakfast and coffee beforehand. Next time I will skip the second cup of coffee! It was sloshing around a bit.

Well done, Emma! You should be delighted.

    Thanks so much, I'm thrilled.

Slower because half as many flip-turns/push-offs?

That was probably a factor but I found that I struggled with my pace for the first 400...it actually took the longest to do. Once I got into it I increased my speed. First 400 took nearly 15 minutes as I was all over the place with my pace. The next three 400s were around 11 each.

If they give you warm up time before the event, that's a great time to work that out. I also think that, now that you have 1 under your belt, you'll be able to pace yourself the way you want. Great job, looking forward to hearing about more events

    250 free, 250 breast, 250 back, sprints 100 free, 100 breast, 100 back. Well I wouldn't really call my 100 back a sprint it's more like survival.

400 in 10 minutes would qualify for Life Guard.

Swam for a bit over an hour. Warm up, kick w/fins, sprint intervals, and a hasty cool down.

I dithered around in my head (in my bed) yesterday morning before work. Finally used my old trick of telling myself that if the pool was packed, I could just sit in the hot tub. It always gets me out of bed, and I never just sit in the hot tub... Managed to get 45 minutes in (wasted 15 minutes talking myself into going).

Snuck 30 min in this morning before class. I could feel this week's workouts. I really love the feel of the water, but don't want to neglect rest days. And a holiday weekend means that the pool will be really empty. I always want to take advantage of that. Maybe it's a good time to work on my backstroke. I'm still all over the place.

    IMRO is reverse medley order
    IMO is medley order
Long dog is a drill like dog paddle but full stroke

Swam on Saturday but forget what I did except I was in the pool for an hour.
Was at work today (UK holiday) so printed out a free pass for the City branch of my gym - they told me on the phone that it was a 20m pool so I wanted to check it out to see if it was worth upgrading my membership to include this branch (If I joined City I could use my local gym for free, but I can't use City on my current membership). But when I got there and saw the pool it was only 16m as confirmed by the lifeguard. What a con. Glad I had a free go to try it out but there is no way I am paying £30 a month more for a smaller pool.....

I couldn't swim in 16m pool, unless I'm just doing short intense sprints throughout!

    Noon hour Swim 50 lengths. 1250 meters. 250 free, 250 breast, 250 free, 250 back, 250 free.

Finally cooled off tonight from the 30/32 Celsius ( 90 F ) temps we have been having.
So I did a Trial Pace test tonight after work for the local Sprint Triathlon.
    pomeroyinnandsuitesraceseries.ca/pages/peace_river

Thanks to my local swim Buddy Kevin ( not MFP ) who threw down the challenge at 4:00pm, after I had already completed my swim for the day.
    750 m swim in 18:30. :D
    10 km Bike in 28 :24 :/
    5 km run in 30:47. :D
So my next Trial Pace will be with a 20 km bike ride to mirror the Sprint triathlon distances.
Was pretty slow on my bike tonight - fighting the Top Ring - Hope for better on my next ride.
The first 50-100 steps in the run were clumsy- its like my feet wanted to continue doing the motion of pedalling the bike.

UK Holiday - Queen Victoria's Birthday?
£30 a month, = $57.05 Cad/month. Makes me realize that my $275.00 Cad/year is a steal of a deal, especially when I get 10% discount at other local ( 100 km radius ) community pools.
16m Pool = Wall push, glide, 7 strokes and turn. Never heard of a pool that short except in Hotels.

Great Plan Aliciab adding small increments to your distance until you get up to a nice workout.

Holiday are you in the UK also?
Backstroke all over the place. That's one I understand - I find that I won't do Backstroke unless I am all alone in the lane - I tend to wander from side to side really bad. There is only one lane that has any structure on the ceiling to use as a guide to keep us in a straight line.

    Can't even imagine doing/trying a 5 mile ( 8km ) 320 lengths or a 10 mile - great work Robertus.
62 minutes ..first 5:1 crawl ratio day

Great Improvements Stephen. Look back at where you started from and copy it into an excel sheet and its easy to see that you are doing pretty d@m good.

Fantastic swimming, Folks!!! Especially with holiday weekends in the U.K. & the U.S.

Back in today after a week off, spots have healed enough that they didn't sting from the chlorine. Did my all freestyle workout today & felt surprisingly strong, as though I hadn't missed any time at all (we'll see how it feels tomorrow, especially when it's time for I.M.'s): 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 1500, 1000, 500, 250 yards (6500 total) in 114 minutes.....
