Challenge stalled this week as I have been feeling ill. So far only done 1 gym session and 1 hour ballroom dancing. Not sure whether I will get 3 more sessions in before the end of the week, but if I feel better tomorrow I will try to get a few walks in.

I've hit my 10,000 steps 5 X's per week last week and am on track to do so this week. I only went to the gym once last week, but as of today will have gone 3 times this week so combined I have gone 4 times in 2 weeks which is on schedule. I have started strength training which is what I wanted to do.

Had a really busy day yesterday. I volunteered for a school excursion to take the school choir to their first ever music festival. The school is on the top of the hill so I had to walk the hill. The the other school was on a hill. I walked that one also. Then all around the school from the ovals to the rehearsal room to the auditorium and then all around again up and down a bazillion steps. My toes were sore from my boots by the end of the day.

I enjoyed it though. The kids won a silver award for their first performance outside of the school, I was absolutely knackered and slept like a rock, and the hubby flew back in last night. A good day all around.

    Week two:
Started my exercise regime. Working out every second day. On days I don't work out I try to go fur at least a one mile walk

Fitbit working as a great motivation for me. Between 5000 and 8000 steps per day. Haven't hit the magic 10000 once :(

I cannot explain how much of a life change this amount of activity is for me. I've gone from zero to half hour to an hour or so if activity every day.

I'm going to participate in the monthly challenge from reddit's great flexibility sub:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/flexibility/comments/3fewg8/august_is_hip_flexor_opening_month_look_inside/

Week 1: Did my stretching 6 out of 7 days last week. The "couch stretch" is brutal, but I've figured out that if I do loosen up properly first and work my way towards it I can do it, so far just seeing that I can do the exercises a little better is improvement/reward enough itself.

Week 2: 5 out of 7 days this week, didn't stretch on yoga day and didn't do anything yesterday, had a really really long day and wasn't able to make myself do anything at all once I got home heh. Back on track today though.

This week: I went for a TRX class yday and ran half the way to get to class in time! (waiting for the bus would make me too late). An annoying thing with group classes is that they often overdo the tempo component. I slow down the repetitions and rather go deep squat for fewer than very high tempo with half of ROM. I believe full ROM is better!

I've started to build a "ghetto gym" at home. Bought a pullup bar to do the GTG method. Although very painful, I can now hang 15 secs, working up tolerance to do Hanging Leg Raises (HLR). Two weeks ago I couldn't even hang at all! I bought a portable watertank 10 liters and put it into a backpack and did ATG squats with 10 kg dumbbells = 20 kg = the same as the bar without weights. Also bought some moving furniture straps for a ghetto gym version of TRX, with bicycle handles. It works well, but for full functionality with a pulley on top for extra instability, I found a cheap suspension training kit on amazon. Building my own, will actually cost me more in parts than buying a manufactured kit!

I also bought hand grippers on max resistance, which I use whenever I notice them.

My avg steps/day for august so far is 9426, but that's not including spinning classes or spurious walking about without the phone. Again, I'm very happy with my ambition for this challenge is babysteps. I add on gradually and don't feel overwhelmed :)

I wonder how many of the original 28 are still participating. It looks like several are still...but not everyone has checked in.

August may not have been the best month to pick as the heat is getting to some.

I love reading that this challenge has inspired more movement from other members as it has for me or that the new week redoubles the effort for others.

    Great job everyone!

Another week of active success. I walked briskly at least 30 minutes per day. Once it was around my living room and kitchen after a date just to make sure I got it in lol

I saw my doctor yesterday and she has given me the go ahead to add squats and wall push-ups. I'm so happy. I'm going to start with 10 each per day and add as I feel stronger. I plan to continue my walks.

I'm still hanging in there. Went on a 2-day cycling adventure with friends this week, so more cardio than strength, and more eating and drinking than exercise. The cycling trip included a tour of several wineries and a chocolate factory. :)

I still managed to get some sporadic bodyweight exercise, but I couldn't stick to the structured program this week. My pull ups are improving -- I could only do one when I started, and now I can do multiple sets of 3. I'd like to find a way to incorporate either handstands or overhead weight presses.

Woohoo! I have exceeded my goal! I definitely feel like a little habit is forming with getting a walk in almost every day. Some days, it's just gonna work but then I try to makeup for it on other days. I wanted to double my previous daily average of a sad 3000 steps and I have done a bit better than that. Now I just need to keep it up and keep forming the habit.
The only thing I am not happy about is that literally from the very first day I started walking, I have stopped losing weight. I even fluctuate up from half to 2.5 lbs any given day. I know about water weight from worked muscles and all that, but I thought by now I would be back to losing again.
I'm seeing it through no matter what because I know it's the best thing for me.
