Did you swim today?

I love Monday evenings. The crowd is light. Tonight it was 3 people in 6 lanes; and my start and finish was all by myself.
1650 in 45 minutes, and the first time in a REALLY long time it was all freestyle with 69 uninterrupted flip turns.mpeters1965 wrote: »girlwithcurls2 wrote: »@mpeters1965, welcome to the PNW!! Bring your wooly socks We're headed into a cold spell here in Portland. Best part is, it makes for sunny weather! Then again, that means taking time to dry my hair after a swim...
Packing up the woolies right now! I'm looking forward to some cold weather. Until just a few days ago, Florida was still in the upper 80's every day. After a long hot summer, I'm ready for a change. (and then to run back here in a week and thaw out!)
1 hour of lessons tonight - probably 1100-1300 meters.
Hoping to go for a run after I have dried off as I need to get a few more long runs in as I have 3 races coming up, the Jingle Bell Jog December 13, the "Chilly Willy" Half Marathon on February 7, 2016 and The Hypothermic Half Marathon on February 21, 2015.0 -
I didn't realize how much I slacked this month! I swam tonight, 2300 yards including kicking with my new kick board I received for my birthday. When I synced my Garmin tonight, I saw that it was only my third swim this month! I've exercised in other ways-running, spinning, HIIT...December will be a better month. I need to get on track!
Happy thanksgiving to those of you in the US. Happy swimming to you all!0 -
A half hour swim before the cardio class. I always love getting some laps in. If nothing else, I get to practice being long, deliberate, working hard (in case class isn't too challenging). Tonight, I think the instructor worked us extra hard because we won't see her until Monday night. I hope I can put my socks on tomorrow...0

I am Thankful for having a pool to swim in year round, and from what I hear from all of you, the fact that I usually have a lane all to myself. Can't wait until Saturday... it's closed the next two days.1

Hi again all - sorry for yet more radio silence. Emma and AQ - I have been thinking of you both...more -hugs -
So I did at last get a swim in TUesday morning - also nice and quiet. Not thanksgiving related over here tho! It was my usual 1k 'Glassmills' routine, a mix up of all sorts of drills etc - 36 mins. So not bad after a 2 week health break.... It was good to be in the pool.
But I doubt I'll be in again this week. I'm back in bed again, whilst my daughter is at her swim class (!), recovering from the latest 'mum goes to hospital' adventures...hey ho.
Still I did buy that skipping rope (2 actually) and me and the daughter have been amusing the commuters skipping in the front garden in the morning. I can only get to 35 boxer style jumps in a row so far, and boy Oh boy does it get your heart going. An impact mat is on its way via Amazon - my shins already feeling this one!1 -
I didn't swim yesterday (took a day off) and today I traded my swim for a 5 mile run with my daughter and her boyfriend. A good start to a day of cooking, eating and sitting. The sun was shining and loads of people were out and doing the same thing. Super fun. Then the boy friend bought us coffee0

Missed Wednesday and Thursday due to no sleep. Made it back in the pool this morning for a 2km crawl (42 mins) and and 250m cool down. Then I sat in the Jacuzzi to recover! I never did that in my old pool as the jacuzzi looked dirty, but the new gyms one is beautifully clean0

Lol at old school comment. Did you have to hold a certain pace? We sometimes do sets having to hold 1.20 which always sounds easy but becomes not fun!0 -

We were supposed to do first 50 fast, 2nd 50 medium fast. I managed to keep them around 1:25 so plenty of rest in between. Your 8x100 with reducing rest is another classic. I get so confused now with these sets broken up in 3 or 4 parts. There was one last week where I was doing 25 fly when everyone else did 50free, a bit embarassing, lol.0 -
Looking at the sets, I really need to learn what you are all talking about!! Lost count of what I was going today, but as I swan for about 55 mins I would say it was 2.5km or thereabouts.0

Lol I sent my programmes to a police officer who I am helping improve his swimming and he said it looks like a computer programme!0 -
I got Ms J's workout in. I reluctantly went to the pool. Just wasn't feeling it. Then went on to have a pretty good workout.0

Not feeling very energetic this morning so had a session mainly focusing on drills. Made a nice change not to trash up and down.0

I'm Back! Got back in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. Hit the pool on Wednesday but held myself back to 60 laps (3000 yards), The on Friday, 100 laps (5000 yard).
And today back to the full 4 mile swim (141 laps). Felt like I could have kept going but I was out of time.
I didn't lose as much lap pace this trip. Was able to maintain close to a 1:50/100 for most of the 4 miles.
It is good to be back.1 -
3.3 km 74 min0

1650 46:470

3000 y in 80 min at 6:30 a.m. I have to add that last part because it's a great personal accomplishment for me to get to the pool at that hour.0
-
Got another full 1750 in uninterrupted. Knocked another 15 seconds off to 43:450

2km crawl this morning and some breast stroke cool down. I have noticed a drop in my speed recently (2km takes 44 mins instead of 40 previously). Its probably one of two things - changing from a 20m to a 25m pool means fewer spurts of speed at the wall and having not swam properly for about 6 weeks after my sternum injury has reduced my fitness a bit. Should get that back soonish I0

4 miles. Great for mental health recovery after the China trip.0

Great swims, people! Welcome back, Gutzy!
I got about 20 min or so in before class. Best part was that I told my 12 year old that she needs to come and swim with me at least 2x a week now that XC season is over and she is doing a lot of sitting. She came and swam and she really enjoyed it0 -
Swim Lessons. 60 minutes Drills, Drills, Drills and more Drills. 1200m.0

4 miles. Great for mental health recovery after the China trip.
I went and got fat and lazy for two years and am getting back into it now. Meanwhile you kept right on rocking incredible distances....
Right now I'm on the boundary of it feeling like a drag and like a pleasant time to think. I certainly feel SOOOO much better after a swim. I look forward to it being a great feeling while I'm in the middle too.
Knocked another 2 minutes off my 1750; 41:40 tonight.

4 Mile wake up call. 3 days in a row. Yahoo! Rolling on with the trip recovery.
If the weather is crap on Saturday I'm thinking I'll do either 5 miles(176 laps) or push it to a full 10K(219).0
