NSV's = Non-scale Victories

Had to do the monthly weigh-in today. It has been a rough month with vacations and eating out a lot. Have not felt very good about it. Stepped on the scale and yup, it was up .4 pounds. So this is probably TMI, but went back to the loo and then reweighed. I know my bladder likes to retain...second weigh-in, down .8! And for the first time, my BMI measured "MARGINALLY" overweight. I'll take it!! Next month is going to be another killer....2 weeks at the state fair with kids and dogs. Wish me luck!
That's great considering how busy you've been and all the travel. I call that a SV! You know what you're doing now and I'm sure you'll survive the State Fair just fine.1 -
Marvelous event with the dress Lulu. I am sure you will look great. Kathi, you have done a tremendous job, especially with busy lives it is hard to keep every calorie and meal on track. Kudos!1

I don't know if this is an NSV or not but I just had to share with you guys because you all have some idea of what my husband has been going through lately.
I bought him a pair of grey slacks yesterday to wear to the wedding which he loved. This morning I was on the phone and he said he'd be back in time to go to the mall and I was talking so didn't ask where he was going. He went to our local Kohl's and found a light grey sports coat to wear to the wedding. He told me earlier this week he really didn't want to wear a jacket since it's a casual wedding anyway.
So when we went to Macy's to exchange my dress we looked as shirts and found a really great one and before I knew it he was looking at ties......LOL. I'm so happy that he found everything he wanted and luckily I was there to help him pick out the tie. He's still going to be on a catheter at the wedding, and he's been pretty bummed about that, but I think he now feels like he's going to look great anyway and doesn't seem so nervous about it.
So it's not my NSV but it's his I guess.7 -
That is lovely to hear.❤️❤️1

Prep for the wedding has him moving in directions he did not anticipate. 'Hoping for more happy surprises in to come.3

Not sure if I've mentioned here that I've been running since January. I've gradually built up my distance and pace, slight improvements every week or so.
Next weekend I have my first 5K and 3 weeks ago I was still pretty nervous about it........not anymore. A 5K has become fairly common for me in my practice runs and while I may not be fast...........I won't be walking.
As soon at this race is over I'll begin training for a 10K................Turkey Trot in November.
I still can't believe I'm running!5 -
I love to read these posts...well done! It's really motivating for those of us just starting out2

Yes, we're a hardy bunch.1

I will, and even more fun I'm meeting up with one of my MFP friends before the race. She's running the 10K but it will be fun meeting another friend from here.5 -
Stepped way outside of normal today! I "ran" the BubbleBlast at the NYS Fair. Long story short, I needed new shoes and ended up entering my first organized run. And I survived! Pics when I can figure out how to post it.4

@chamblisk fantastic job on the organized run. I did my first one last weekend and met @shanaber in Huntington Beach at the Tiki Run. She did the 10K with her daughter and niece and I did the 5K with my SIL.
Did you enjoy the run? Did the new shoes work out ok? I bought some about a month ago and they've really helped.
Just an update from my run a week ago.........my time was just ok, went out too fast the first mile and it was warmer than I expected and almost ran out of steam the last mile but hung in there. I'm looking forward to another one in October and training for a 10K in November...........Yikes.........not sure what's gotten into me!
As far as training goes I'm just trying to add miles every week and get my long run on Sundays at the park up to 6+miles. Today I ran 13 laps and it was 3.63 miles. Every lap adds about .27 miles so as long as I add a lap every week, if I can, I'll make it!3 -
Wow read through just a couple of pages of posts, and some of the comments made me sit back and think. How true is that as you lose weight your own closet becomes like a clothing storefront?? LOVED that, and then another set a goal of swimming 300m and has beat that already! SUPER Inspirational!! Just what I needed to start a Monday Morning!! Thank you all!!! :-)2

14 hours of firefighting. All nighter on a huge apartment (55 units) building that used to be a girls school in the last century. Three story historic building, no deaths. My crew started as a stand-in crew in one station, got moved up to stand-in at the station of the town where the fire was, attended a motorcycle accident on the way, got moved up to,the fire by 6pm till dawn. I'm the geezer on the far right.6 -
From what I can see in the news, it sounds like the College might be salvageable. Good work!!1
-
Nice work farback and it sounds like a pretty big fire! Looking sharp!1
-
@Farback, you all look pretty chipper after such a long night, if this was an actual post-events photo. And you're not the only "geezer", it seems. Thank you for doing what you do for your city! (Glad to hear there were no fatalities this time - I'm thinking that must make the experience sit a little more gently on one's mind, afterward.)1
-
Since anything after @farback's awesome post is going to sound uber uncool...I'll post one of my NSVs that sounds sort of lame, but hey...it's my victory, right?!
I have been able to go to the next tighter notch when fastening my watch. Honestly was pretty excited about this the other day.6 -
Back in the pool after it was closed for a week. Did a lovely work out and had not lost a ton of fitness. I am just on a little high at being back in the pool. It is rather amazing how addictive it is.4
-
Fantastic!
You remind me that I have to get back to the habit.2 -
I read something the other day and it struck a chord. Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going. Have a great Sunday!2

I logged my breakfast and morning snack after weeks (months?) of not caring.6

It really is getting consistent with little things day by day that builds great long term habits. Congrats!2 -

I finished the day as well logging everything. I was over calorie-wise but I still feel like a success because I have pulled myself back up on the tracking wagon. I'm motivated to do a little better tomorrow.4 -
I was under calorie goal for two days in a row. First time in forever. Never mind I have flu like symptoms...3

Congrats @MadDogManor ! Though I do hope you feel better soon! Glad you can see the silver lining if you are sick!0
