Awesome!
And when it becomes too big, may I suggest clear UV gel nail polish as a sizing agent. Lol
I need to try this....Haven't been wearing my wedding rings for quite awhile now because they spin around on my finger at work and I've almost lost them a couple of times because they just flew right off my finger!1 -
Had a wonderful customer today, who happened to be served by a colleague at the neighbouring check-out ... the customer was lamenting that since becoming diabetic, she had put on so much weight, and her clothes never fitted her any more.... My colleague - with no prompting from me - outlined to her what my H and I had been doing, that my H was a shadow of his former self (she knows him very well, we're good friends 'outside of work') and that he had cured himself of diabetes.
The lady was astounded, and naturally asked how he/we had done it. I told her about LCHF, and she told us her doctor had asked her to increase her carb intake and eat at least 50 - 70g of carbs PER MEAL!
It made me quite cross - !
it ended with her giving my colleague her name and 'phone number, and asking her, to ask me, to give her a call... !
I think we got us a convert....!!12 -
Yesterday, I was at a work event, big GM meeting where I was lauded for my skill with clients. After the meeting, I was leaving and one of the managers yelled at me across the parking lot that I'm looking "really good" today and I haven't lost that much weight yet but it was the first time anyone has mentioned how I look.10

I have the same issue, will have to try the nail polish, I was going to get one of the sizing gadgets, but the nail polish can be made thicker when more weight is lost.
More great info from Sunny_Bunny_.
Almost forgot, when I went to my hair salon this week, two ladies who work there and see me about every 4-5 weeks, both commented on how thin I am looking. And it was in a kind supportive way.
My hairdresser is the person who turned me onto MFP in the first place. She has been encouraging me all along. She is trying to lose weight and be a vegan, I have directed her to the low carb sites that have eating plans for vegan/vegetarians, but she caves into sugar every time. She knows it is a problem and has finally started to use stevia in some fat bombs recipes I gave her, so she doesn't bake cookies anymore at least.4 -
OMG I so agree about the butt bones hurting! I still have PLENTY of fat to lose, but apparently it's enough of a difference in my hiney that even sitting on a couch for too long has me fidgeting. My saddle is downright painful if I'm not riding well, which is really good incentive to have a soft seat whilst riding!4

People have become used to me being smaller. I was talking to someone about weight and commiserating over muffin top, and how it was a constant for me 40 lbs ago. They forgot I'd lost weight and used to bulge over my pants.3

I've been at this stretch of keto/LC for a little over 2 years. After an initial loss of 145 Ive lost and gained back and lost and gained back about 30 pounds...successful maintenance remains a mystery to me, but it is something I'm striving for in between gains and losses.
What my NSV is that in this process, which really is a fight for a good, fulfilling life for myself...I have aquired a new skill. Being able to turn to Keto successfully when I need to after a period of relapsing...no matter how many tries it takes.
All my reading on the subject, all my logging, all my weigh-ins, all my psycholgical battling against my addictive thinking, all my check-ins in this community with people I now feel are my friends for real...all my daily efforts at caring for myself and my ability to now take some risks while I build myself a better life...these are real skills I have in my tool box now. I did not have them when I started out.
Even if I get behind, I know how to get back ahead with my keto plan...and I know that I won't give up until I do. Cant tell you how much fear I've been able to let go of, by coming to that realization. It's like a little tiny island of sanity in a sea of chaos!
That feels like victory to me.17 -
To me, the hardest part of maintenance is i really enjoy eating. I used to lament (before really understanding how dangerous these are) the fact that the prevalence of eating challenges didn't explode until I was too old to be competitive.
I always took the words "all you can eat" as a challenge. I still find it an effort to stop before being stuffed and to not start if I'm not hungry.
So far I have managed to only go over my acceptable range a total of maybe 10 days in 2017 and never by more than 1 lb.5 -
I have maintained with this WOE way longer than with any other "diet". Now that doesn't mean I think I'm invincible and will never slip. But I think it all comes down to repeatedly choosing the eat the right foods every day.8

In the last four weeks I've run two full marathons and a half marathon (at which I placed). I never could have aspired to any of that pre-keto.
At my half today a lady stopped me after I got off the podium and said to me, "Wow you must've really carbed up!". I laughed at this a lot once I got back to my car #getbehindmecarbloadingsatan

How's this for an NSV?...Even at a weight higher than my goal, the past few weeks when I've been out at concerts and music venues, a slew of guys younger than my son(!)have been hitting on me. HA! Lol. Not interested in that, but man...that's a good stroking for the old ego.15
-
You look so young.... Are you sure your son's not in kindergarten?!2

I can finally look at myself up on a horse and not get disgusted. This is me tonight riding my very green horse. Our first time off the lunge line together! And I feel okay weight-wise to be riding a young horse. I wouldn't have before.

High-ho Silver! That looks so good! Nice photo!2

A big deal for me was doing IronMan Chatt 70.3 in May. I wanted to survive the swim of 1.2 miles and then have fun on the bike and save enough for the half marathon run at the end.
It was cool to run my fastest mile coming across the finish line!
But with every victory is that look back at what to improve. I can out of it "taking the win". Enjoying the moment and not doing any self deprecating silliness. It was a big accomplishment.
But I have learned to do something and then adjust to get better. Now I have a new swim technique. Already pulled 3 seconds off 25 feet after 2 weeks. Yay!
I have found it is ok to enjoy a success and also look back to get better. This is a long term lifestyle. Not a change now after almost 4 years of lower carb life. It is my lifestyle.
This works long term. It works to help you reach goals you may have never thought you would reach
Work it patiently and take the wins as they come. They surely will.13 -
Last week a coworker told me that she was blown away by the side by side comparison picture I had posted on my Facebook that prior weekend. I was amazed at the difference myself. I'm down 21 lbs so far but didn't actually realize what a difference it already makes.8

The last two times I've packed for a work trip I haven't felt compelled to try everything on to make sure it fits the way I want it to. I know it just does. This is so amazing. and time saving! lol5

I went thru my clothing to remove some of the baggier ones and went to put them in storage until I could figure out what to do with them. I was thinking I'm going to need new pants as mine were getting baggy and uncomfortable. In my storage bin I found seven pairs of new pants I'd only wore a few times from the last time I went on a diet. I was surprised they all fit. I'm now surpassing my last weight loss with no feeling of giving up.12
-
If I may say so, I never needed to 'figure out' what to do with my old, baggy clothing.
Three Charity shops have benefited from my previous-to-weight-loss wardrobe.
They were very pleased for the donations.
I also bought myself some 'new' bits for myself. 2nd hand, sure. But very much almost unworn...
I guess the previous owner must have just got a little too big for them.
Her loss, is my gain. But then again, her gain - is her loss.7 -
painting my toenails and shaving my legs have become much easier...this is the first time I've painted my toes in nearly a year.9

Am so, so proud of my daughter. But so proud.
In 4 weeks, she has lost 1st 5lbs (19lbs) and is steadily continuing to lose. She knows all about stalls, and how losing weight is not so much a steady stream, but a step by step.... but she has a wonderful, supportive, loving, intelligent and affectionate 7-year-old boy, and he helps her do the cooking, and joins in the fun meals!
She is my treasure, and he is such a godsend. Love 'em both to the moon and back. Relay trips.14 -

Was having a really frustrating night at work last night as I was trying to keep our *kitten* out of a sling due to a coworker having MARKEDLY different work ethics than I. So I was crabby. But I had a second shift officer who hasn't seen me in a couple months come in to do some paperwork, and he left, but in less than a minute he came back. "I hope this isn't inappropriate but I just have to tell you, you look fantastic!" And then he kept raving about how wonderful I looked. Not in a creepy pervy way, but in a truly complimentary way. Definitely brightened my night.16

1. I had to buy a smaller belt, for the second time, a couple of weeks ago.
2. I buy the same bermuda shorts each year. I bought them in a size 12 in 2016(far bigger than I had ever been), went up to a 16 in 2017, started LCHF in 8/17, and had them delivered in a size 4 yesterday. They don't come any smaller than that.12 -

I have lost in total 10 inches in my waist since Jan 2016. I just drill a new hole when it gets too loose. I figure all that extra leather that isn't needed any more is a reminder. Maybe it is evidence in case I get discouraged.
The day will come when I will buy a new one though.

Even if you get a new belt, keep the old one just so you can compare from time to time and see how far you have come!4

Last Sunday I comfortably wore a pair of surf shorts that I haven't fit into in 15+ years...they almost show my butt cheeks, but to be fair, they did back then too...not even sure how they managed to survive all my closet purges over the years other than the fact that super cute surf shorts are so hard to find in the first place!7
