Way to go Kar! You showed up and ran, so awesome job to you girl.
Sept. 23: Adding only 6 today. My knee is on rest today. Got my pup out for a walk this morning and one with my hubby this afternoon. He needs the walk more. But glad he came along. I told him I might need him to call him for help, so he decided to come along.

Busy weekend! Friday was spent setting up facility where we had our mothers memorial on Saturday & when it was over we had to put everything back as we found it & cleaned it better than when we got there! My mothers passing was sadly a blessing. She was miserable & not a nice woman & we haven't spoken for years. I've tried to have a relationship with her but gave up. A person can only try for so long. She had a nerve disease that left her with no feeling in her lower legs & hands, there for had to wear braces on her feet & it made it hard for her to hold anything. But she died from lung cancer. They saw a mass while doing a chest x ray in June. She declined any further exams, went on continuous oxygen & stayed in the home till her death 2 weeks ago. The dr was quite sure it was cancer after seeing chest x ray. The memorial was private but still had 160 people & it was nice to see all of them! May she be with Jesus & have found peace & happiness.
3.5 walking & 15.5 from ex bike.

@kar328 - WoW, well done on coming 2nd in your VW’s group. It doesn’t matter hw big the field was!,
@vhuber - my thoughts are with you. Hopefully your mother is at peace now. It’s still a big loss, even though the relationship was difficult - big hugs.1 -

@vhuber I'm sorry for your loss and glad you're able to find some comfort in it.
Adding 1 mile. I tweaked my hip last night, still went to Boot Camp but took it easy. I got paired up with a young woman who comes despite having two hip surgeries and ongoing pain and mobility issues. We did pretty well and didn't have to modify everything.

I will catch-up my miles in the morn. Thanks!0 -
@chuber: I am sorry to hear about your mother. My mother and I had been estranged for many years. She had a breakdown when I was 16 and I had to clean, cook and take care of home stuff. Not complaining. It made me a stronger individual. She moved out and divorced my dad for really stupid reasons. She had developed early onset of Alzheimer's. She was being evicted for not paying her rent because she couldn’t remember. I stepped in, found her a new place but she was getting worse. I filed for guardianship of her. In the end it helped me resolve all the deep seated issues that I felt about her and I came to have some closure when she died at the age of 66. I say all this because I feel for your situation. I was fortunate but like you, it was not that mother/daughter relationship I would have liked. We can only do what we can. You can feel good knowing that you made the effort. None the less, it is your mother. My sympathy. I hope she has some peace. It sounds like she had a rough life.
Sept. 24: Well I have some meniscus tears in my right knee. Not as bad as my left was so we are taking a wait and see approach. No running for awhile so there goes two races I had been training for this fall. One was next week the other the beginning of November. I know Dean, biking is so much better. Just wish I had more open space to ride. It is a safety hazard trying to ride around here.
So I got 10 miles in today of walking 4 miles and riding slowly on my x bike for 6.

@cpanus - That was a COLD wind this morning. I put pants on for the first time this season to commute home. It must have been even colder where you are.

@vhuber - It's hard for people to understand that passing isn't always a bad thing. I feel for your loss, but I'm glad the suffering is over. When my father passed, he was in really bad shape. I miss him a lot but I will always be grateful the passing was quick. I hope the memories will fade to mostly good ones.1

@clepant - You just can't catch a break. Hope you can avoid surgery. You could always move up here now that you're retired. Lots of room to bike up here. With a Fat Tire you can bike all year long.0
