Hang on, one of the moderators will check on this for you soon. I tried to, but for some reason can't access the spreadsheet this morning. Probably just a glitch for both of us!0 -
Happy almost 2019 everyone! I'd like to extend a warm welcome to our new members and a welcome back to returning team members!!!
My name is Jen and I am one of the captains along with Mark - @broncobuddee. We also have two amazing Motivators - Tami aka @UTMom81 and Terri aka @tess5036 and many, many supportive and active challengers We are really excited to kick off another month on this amazing journey we have been on together. December was an interesting month as expected for many of us. We came in first and second place a couple of the weeks which was awesome! The number on the scale isn’t the only thing we measure for success but it is one thing we look at. For the month of December we lost just over 18lbs which was less than November which was 51lbs. But we had some big challenges this month with the holiday season. There were lots of parties in our group which meant lots of temptations but also lots of great memories made with family and friends!
December once again had great discussions sharing articles and videos to help us learn more about weight loss and fitness. There was some great information shared among team members and I am hoping that will continue!!
Along with our weekly weigh ins, we also have DAILY CHECK INS which helps us stay accountable to the group. We provide the following information each day:
Calories: over or under?
Water: did you reach your water goal?
Exercise: what did you get up to in the day?
Goal or Improvement for tomorrow: what do you want to achieve the following day? Some examples might be - Do you want to drink more water, eat cleaner, or get a work out in.
As you may have seen in earlier posts this group is all about support and motivation. We are not super competitive about winning the weight loss challenge each week. Many of us have come to realize that this journey is about the process, its not linear but hopefully you will see some progress. Maybe its not the number on the scale - maybe you will lose inches and fit into those pants again or be able to walk or run longer than you ever have before. Whatever you want to celebrate the team is here to cheer you on. And we want to hear about it because it motivates us to do better so please, please share.
We also have tough days. We want to hear about those too. We want to help you put the bad days behind you.
We also want to hear your questions because we might have the same questions too. And someone on the team will have some information to share for sure.
Weekly Challenges - each week there will be three that are completely optional:
Team Challenge - this is a challenge that I typically put out to the team each Sunday (at least I try to). But I am totally open to suggestions!
Group Challenge - this is a challenge extended from another team in the challenge
Moderators Challenge - this is a challenge extended from one of the Moderators of the whole challenge
I'd like to continue with introductions. Please share your name, where you live, how long you have been on MFP, and anything you want to share about your weight loss journey so far - successes, challenges, goals for the month. Anything to help you get motivated and maybe inspire others on the team!! I’ll be back later today with the weekly team challenge!!2 -

Welcome, it is great to see you here. We are a really friendly bunch and very supportive, not just for the good times, but for when you're finding things difficult as well. I think it's a support during a difficult time that may be the most valuable for all of us!
If anyone has a Fitbit we also have a very active Fitbit group with weekly challenges which everybody is welcome to join. If you want to join it, just send me a message and I'll hook you up on the group, and let you know who everybody else is in the Fitbit app.2 -
Glad to be here and hope that you guys get my butt moving! I joined the Fitbit group as well so I'm hoping there will be even more motivation there and find more people to compete with.
I live in central North Carolina and have been on MFP for several years. I'm just want all this extra weight gone and learn how to eat and live better. I'd love to lose roughly 5-8 lbs a month so I'll be here awhile. I have about 100 lbs to lose.4 -

Greg aka @Navydaddjtc here one of your team Captains and moderators along with Becky aka @Beka3695. This year 2018.... as it comes to an end has stunk for me personally. My younger brother died in October and mom and my older brother are not doing so good either. So 2019 is not starting off that good.
I am a retired/disabled Navy spec ops vet handling War dogs in Vietnam. I worked as an Executive Chef at sea on board ocean gong tug boats for 13 years I was medically retired from there after a tug boat/ barge accident. I just recently retired from the Boys&Girls Club after 20 years as a Chef Instructor. That job was very satisfying for me.
I have been on the Workout wonders and the Workout Warriors for sometime now and
THE FAT 2 FIT WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE is my home for weight loss. I truly treasure the friendships I have made here and have enjoyed the GOOD,BAD AND THE UGLY TIMES we all have shared from time to time.
MY GOALS WILL FOR 2019 WILL NOT BE LOFTY....THEY WILL BE SIMPLISTIC ( ONE OF MY GOALS IS TO MATCH @boehle AND @Beka3695 STEP FOR STEP IN THEIR TRAINING FOR ROAD RACES THEY WILL RUN IT I WILL WALK IT SO BRING IT LADIES) .....THEY WILL BE ATTAINABLE FOR ME.....I WILL NOT SURRENDER TO THIS WEIGHT PROBLEM. I WILL FIGHT IT WITH EVERYTHING I CAN...MY MEDICAL TEAM...MY NUTRITIONIST....MY FAMILY.....AND MY TEAM OF WARRIORS
I WILL DRAW MY INSPIRATION FROM MY TEAM MATES...... I WILL PUSH MY SELF WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THIS BODY AND IT'S PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS..... I WILL NOT SURRENDER....I WILL NOT QUIT ON YOU MY TEAM MATES...IT IS
IN 2019 I WILL NOT LET YOU SIT BACK ON YOUR LAURELS AND QUIT....I WILL PUSH AND CHALLENGE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU...IF YOUR RUNNER AND IN TRAINING FOR A 3.5.10.15.25. K OR WHATEVER I AM GOING TO PUSH AND CHALLENGE YOU FOR THAT EXTRA MILE.....IF YOUR INTO WEIGHT LIFTING I AM GOING TO PUSH AND CHALLENGE YOU FOR ANOTHER SET OR INCREASE YOUR REPS.....IF YOUR A CARDIO/STEPPING FANATIC LIKE ME I AM GOING TO PUSH AND CHALLENGE US TO ANOTHER 5,000 STEPS OR INCREASE YOUR HEART BEAT......
YOU DON'T GET TO QUIT ON ME AND THE TEAM IN 2019YOU HAD BESTWHAT'S IN YOUR PLAN FOR 2019 .....

Hi I'm Mike. I have been in this group for a month and am greatly helped by the people here. I hope to go back to work in April after being of since March 2017. First for a hip replacement and then a liver resection due to cancer. So I am very out of shape. Finished getting my workout room useable. My doctor basically told me to lose weight or the cancer will comeback. Would like to welcome the new members and if I am not your friend please friend me.2

Hi Everyone
I'm Kim. I am new here for January and hopefully in the right place. I've been around MFP now for about 6 years. I had hit my goal weight, and then there were injuries, and more injuries, and ankle surgery, and yet more injuries. The problem isn't necessarily the injury, as much as I just don't handle stress well and make really bad choices when I'm injured and stressed. This last year I've struggled with a lingering IT band issues and a lot of work stress. Stress + injury + bad choices......and I'm now up about 20lbs from my lowest weight. I said I'd never see 150 again, but here I am and then some. It's a reality check.
So now I'm looking to lose 15lbs to get back to "happy weight." The frustrating thing is that I know exactly what I need to do; I've just got to get myself to do it. A 2lb loss in January would be a good start. I know it's not much, but I am a firm believer in the slow and steady approach.
I enjoy running and lifting weights, and I swim for cross training. It's been a struggle to get my running mileage back up, but I'm at 15-18 miles per week, and would like to get to at least 20 miles per week before the end of January, with at least one successful 10 mile run.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Good for you for getting to your reality check place now and getting too far away from your goal weight. I admire anyone who runs also. Before I had my second child I was running 10K races. I'm starting to get back into running again - slowly but surely!
Welcome to the group Kim!3 -
Week 1 Team Challenge - Choose Your Theme for 2019
Hi everyone - I loved the Word Cloud @UTMom81 created so much I decided to incorporate it into this week's challenge. Please have a look at the words and let the team know the 3-4 words that resonate most with you. What words will become your theme for 2019? This could be like a virtual Vision Board. You may even want to post them on your fridge or bathroom mirror as a daily reminder! Don't forget to share with the group!
2 -
I am also wondering who might be interested in a few days of a No Junk Food Challenge starting January 1 until January 4? Try to cleanse our system for a few days??
4 -
Yayyyy I love a New Year!!
@Navydaddjtc, your family will be in my prayers!! Also, my 2019 plan is to keep pushing myself towards my goal weight. If you can help me in that area....bring it on!!
THE STEP PAGE IS NOW UP AND RUNNING
I'm done with colds, overeating, and laying around like a slug!! I'm ready to get back on my treadmill and get my steps in. Please add me to the list because I NEED it!!
Week 1 Team Challenge - Choose Your Theme for 2019
Love it!! My top words for 2019 are Commitment, Accountability, and Weight Loss. I will also add Treadmill, Water, and Logging to my list because that's how I'm going to get it done!
No Junk Food Challenge starting January 1 until January 4
Well, there isn't a whole lot of junk left in my house, but you bet I'm up for this challenge. I need a good jump start to my 2019 plan!
Check in for Sunday:
Calories are under
Water is under and I need to go guzzle some before bed!
Exercise was dragging my husband all around Kohls and then to Trader Joes. I don't reccomend their root veggies fries. Nasty!!
I'm glad this year is over! There have been some really dark days and while the pain of losing my daughter will never really be over, I know what she wanted for me and I need to want it just as badly. Addiction comes in many forms and I've battled and won several in my life. Food is my last and I'm NOT going to let it win! I'm thankful for this group and for the support we have for each other.
I saw this and thought of you all.

Introduction: Hi, I'm Tami! I live in Tennessee, but am currently basking in the sun in Florida for another week until school starts back (I'm an educator). I've been on MFP since January of 2017 (this time) and have lost, well, now I'm at 40 lbs. I was down about 7 more than that about a month ago. But, it is what it is, and it's time to fix it!
Challenges: Hmmm, for 2019, I like the words Healthy Lifestyle and Weight Loss. I also like the word Encouragement, because that's what this group is so good at! But for this WEEK, I am claiming Water, Vegetables, Protein, and Steps because these are the things I will be focusing on this week.
Jen, yes, I will join you in the No Junk Food Challenge. It always feels good to get rid of the junk for a few days after a holiday season. And after today's brunch and dinner with two sets of friends and family, I'm really going to need it.
Here's to an amazing 2019 for everyone. #youcandoit2 -
Oh, almost forgot!
Sunday Check In
Calories: over
Exercise: only some light walking today
Water: did good here
Tomorrow: I will hit my bike early in the morning and hope to ride about 12 miles before breakfast. That's my goal anyway. Also, I'm going to continue the "only eat sitting down" thing that has helped me not snack the last couple days. Of course, it didn't stop me from eating too much while sitting down at that brunch today! But I didn't snack!3 -

I went through the registration page and @kindofangel2003 is definitely assigned to our team - welcome!!! The o my piece of information missing is what day of the week you will weigh in. Once you let us know I will ask that you be added to our spreadsheet.
Thanks @UTMom81!1 -
Team challenge:
My theme words for 2019 are:
Treadmill - I’m so excited to be back on my treadmill. I found this amazing app called Peloton which I’ve been trialing this week. I’ve decided I’m going to sign up for a membership.
Planning - this is something I need to get consistent with. Whether it’s grocery shopping, journaling or scheduling workouts in advance.
Youcandoit - because I can and I will!
Lifestyle - I really want to make habits that will become a lifestyle for me. I agree with @ka97 that slow and steady is the way to go to make long lasting changes.
Cheers to 2019! 🎉🍾3 -
Hello from Calgary, Alberta! My name is Jen and I am one of your team captains. I am married, 43 years old with two kids - 12 and 5. I have been a team captain for a while now. Although I haven't seen huge losses just being part of this challenge has kept me accountable and from gaining a lot of weight.
I think the heaviest I have been is around 215. I managed to get to onederland in the spring of 2018 but haven't seen it again since. This is certainly a mini goal for me. Ultimately I’d love to lose 30lbs. I’m hoping I can do it this year.
Sunday check in:
Calories: under
Exercise: 40 minutes on the treadmill including a run/walk program; 11K steps for the day
Water: really good today
Goal for tomorrow: I don’t have New Years plans that revolves around drinking or eating. We are going to a kids party at noon (Noon Years Eve). Not much planned after that; I’ll see what the kids feel like doing. Hoping to stay on track calorie wise.4 -

Hi I am Mike and I am from Edmonton so we are almost neighbors3 -
Hi All, another month and nearly a new year! How exciting😊 To reintroduce myself again, I’m Jill, I’m from Ireland - freewheeling to mid 40’s this coming year. I’ve 2 girls, married, work 30 hours outside the home in 2 places. I’m big into my walking and sometimes jogging and love being giving a run for my money in the Fitbit challenges very kindly set up by @tess5036 and others of course. I have completely lost the run of myself weight’wise over the holiday period but as I heard someone else say (I follow an online coaching group) I like them had lost so many Christmases to obsessive calorie counting & guilt, I was not doing that this year. So I ate, drank, ate some more, drank some more, and then slept😉 Only kidding! But I did eat what I fancied and I have no regrets. What I do have is a very very tight waist band so I’m returning to my 1700 calories a day, and keeping up my 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day. I’ll be more present this month and know we’ll all have great success3
-
Oh and I wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year2
