@cyndiesstuff
I was just saying to my husband yesterday how the gardens seem to be about a month behind. We had lots of rain in April which did delay planting a bit as it was too muddy. My tomatoes are just starting to ripen on the vines. The cucumbers and squash are still too small to pick.
I was really looking forward to fresh picked veggies for my lunches too.
@nstephenson01
Go ahead and get some ice cream or something to have as a cool snack when the really hot weather gets there. Add some fruit or nuts to add some nutrition, it's got calcium and other good stuff. The good thing is ice cream keeps a long time in the freezer and you can eat small or large portions if you seal it good.2 -
@nstephenson01 i don’t remember if i ever told you we went to the suspension bridge near Troy, MT, and you were right - it was so awesome!! i didn’t want to cross it (it was so windy that day lol) but my friend made me do it! He said, ‘we didn’t walk all the way here just to look at it! Get up there!’ lol.
We’re heading back to Montana for the Under The Big Sky Fest in a few weeks, can’t wait!
You did it!! Awesome @twyla77!! I just saw the line up for the Big Sky Fest the other day. I’m so jealous. Enjoy and I want a report back on how it was LOL2 -

Well we survived the teen sleepover! I made about 60 pancakes this morning & photo is below
@cyndiesstuff - You have done a heck of a lot in this past while, so one bad day of eating is ok & you can get back on track. You are right about not minimizing my running accomplishments when I never thought that I would run again! You are going to do great in your new job!
@twyla77 - those tacos look delicious & you look lovely too!

I had a really awesome day today! I will tell you about it in the am. Hope everyone has a great night!
@twyla77 That sounds like such a nice way to spend an afternoon! Great job bringing water with you instead of having beer. Those tacos look so yummy! I would never had thought they would use heart of palm! I love your pic on the suspension bridge! Did it sway a lot?
@Cafelelia Those pancakes look delish! I am glad you survived the sleepover! Have a good nights sleep tonight!4 -

I am on vacation this week. Much needed rest after the recent business of moving. We rented a house on Lake Michigan. Lots of sun today and kayaking and resting. Snacking a bit more than my normal routines - so need to watch that tomorrow. I will not be able to weigh tomorrow because I do not have a scale here. Nearest Meijer or Walmart 35 mi utes drive away. And honestly after all the stress (including scale stress) - I am making relaxing (not tasks) and connecting with family my highest priority this week. Please excuse me from this week’s weigh in. Have a great week!3

I'm back from may vacation and it went very well. I didn't try the Aikido classes, but did pretty much yoga, circuit training, weight lifting and swimming. I also logged my food, stayed under and had lots of water.
The most interesting day was Sunday, because I participated in a trail run race. It was 13 km, but the last 3 were climbing this peak:
I did it for 4 h (40 min slower then the previous participant in my category) but I'm glad I managed to finish at all. I also just logged all the food and drinks I had yesterday and it turns out I'm a little under
My plan for today:
eat mindfully and stay hydrated
30 min yoga
30 min leisure walking
30 min upper body strength training
try to catch up with work
I hope to have more time these days and read more of what all you share. I just saw some great pictures and I'm sure they have interesting stories behind them Have a great week everyone!!!6 -
Yesterday was 4 hours of strenuous hiking. A descent to the waterfalls then a very long way back up. I tore up those hills like a billie goat. 1 year of consistent training has paid off. This is the most fit I have ever been. It was a great day!
@sleepymom5 I love your game plan! It reminds me of the saying those who fail to plan, plan to fail.
Great job planning. You can do it!1 -

Daily check in Sunday
Food still struggling
Water 48 oz
Exercise worked at the farm
Steps 11667
up and down, up and down. big machinery is a lot of big steps up and down for a short girl like me. like almost anything we do on the farm, something that should have taken a few hours ended up taking all day.. we had to replace some of the hoses on the low boy. which on a small vehicle would be easy but on a monster low boy even the tools are huge. but we got it done and the back hoe is home. we immediately put it to work. we had sold an oil drum to the farmer down the road. we pulled it out and i got to take the back hoe and the oil drum that was strapped to the bucket to the neighboring farm about 3 miles away. i love that machine. sooo neat. today is the last day before i go back to work. i have counseling at 10 and then really have nothing on my plan. maybe just rest and read. i bought a book i want to start reading. i am still old school tho. it's not on a kindle it is an actual book. i love turning pages and for me it is way easier to read. The book is titled, "What She Forgot" by S. W. Vaughn.

@nstephenson01 ohhh girl, tomorrow you will join us ole timers!! i have actually fallen in love with being an ole timer. there is some comfort in all that we have learned in the first half of our lives. now we can take that knowledge into the second half and make it amazing. i may need to replace my lettuce. the bunnies have decided it was there job to cut and come again!! i have not been able to spray to keep them out because of the rain. it is suppose to rain again today but at least the temps are suppose to be more to normal. that will help. gardening is such great exercise. i love it!
@Mrsbell8well ohh i so wish i could have came with you hiking. it would have been a great trip. i love working by body and enjoying nature. makes exercise not seem like exercise. that is one of the keys. fitting in physical activities you love not only is great for you body because your moving but because you are not thinking about the refrigerator!! the new angelina is beautiful, inside and out!! ohhh yess and feeling strong is a wonderful added benefit. and you and molly are sooo cute. i am glad that the love of your life is willing to join you on your trek!!
@sleepymom5 maintaining is not a bad deal. you have learned what it takes to stay at that weight. remember, it is okay to feel hungry. we are going to feel hungry, we are eating at a deficient. once we get to our goal weight we will be able to add those few calories back and it will feel like a lot. have you gotten in the water yet? i think you should make that a commitment for this week. just one time, get in the water and use your positive thoughts the whole time and after give yourself lots of praise. start making the water feel good. not only for your body but for your mind as well. and good job using the 4 circles. if you do that, the weight will come off. i am not sure why i have been binging. i have tried to analyze it and really i think i am doing it because i want to. it is a old habit. well ingrained. i once used it as a coping mechanism and now i just do it because. i do believe the answer is just abstinence. one day at a time. it really, at this point, i don't believe it matters why i do it, i just need to stop.
@twyla77 love your post it reminder on your mirror. now you should change that and make it say what your next daily goal is. the act of writing it down and then reading it over and over really does help. you have just proved it. and those non fish tacos look yummmmmooooo. mmm cabbage slaw on the bottom. sooo good. that bridge looks awesome.
@pacsnc6 my plants are just starting to get blossoms but they are very small plants. if they start producing fruit now, it will kill the small plant. so i have picked the blossoms off. in hopes of giving the plants time to mature first.
@Cafelelia ohhh girl i am glad you made it thru the sleep over. another one is now in the history books. you keep that up! one great momma!!
@bmaison2014 maintains are good. now what will you do this week to make that scale go down? 1 thing. make a commitment today. you can do this
@phoebe112476 now problem, we will get you excused. you have a great time on your vacation. we were just at lake michigan, will you be going to the dunes?
@Moarrein ohhhh that is beautiful. i love hiking outdoors. what a great way to spend your vacation. and really give yourself some extra credit for living your like on plan. you are using all those great new habits. good job!!

Daily Check In: Sunday

Water: over 64 oz
Exercise & Steps: 30 minute walk, 45 min bike ride and 8,657 steps
Good day yesterday. I am feeling better about things. Busy day AND week ahead but I think once this week is through, it will be smooth sailing! We are going back to Pa today, I have the MRI, Daisy has the vet and MK has two doctor's appointments tomorrow. I don't know if I told you all but the night the bar opened, we had a leak from an upstairs bathroom into the kitchen. What a mess! The kitchen ceiling looks like swiss cheese from them trying to find the leak. The floor to the bathroom had to be ripped up before they found what was going on. Ugh! We ended up getting that bathroom gutted and redone. Needless to say, it is a mess up there. I keep hearing from my daughters that I am going to be upset when I see the house. Apparently no doors were shut and the mess is throughout the house. All that spring cleaning...I already hired professional cleaners so I am going to try not to let it bother me. I really don't want to go home and see it though. Isn't that terrible? Oh well, I am going to try to get some stuff done around here and then head home. The weekend was beautiful. Today is sunny but already hot so I want to head out and get some exercise in. Depending on when I get home, I will check in tonight or tomorrow. Let's have a great week everyone!
@bmaison2014 Hope all is going well. We are here if you need us.
@phoebe112476 I will put you in for an excused weigh in this week! You have had so much going on lately. Enjoy your vacation! It sounds wonderful!
@Moarrein Sounds like you had a lovely vacation! You were so active and stayed on point with eating! Great job! That trail run race sounded so challenging! You should be proud that you were able to do that! What an accomplishment! Beautiful picture!
@Mrsbell8well Sounds like a great day! Love the pic!
@cyndiesstuff Sounds like you have a nice, relaxing day planned after your not so relaxing day yesterday! Glad that you will be talking to your counselor today too. How do you know how to do all the tractor stuff? Did you grow up on a farm? We will see about the swimming, maybe if I get out of here today, I will swim at home. In my nice, clear, no sea life pool lol! Actually, it is going to get hot this week so this would be the week to go into the bay.4 -
Busy week... we have nationals for our dance competition kids so I'll be in and out of the office and convention center this week. I DID end up joining anytime fitness last week.. since my husband is already a member they let me join for $29.99/month for a 12 month contract. I'm going to have to go if I'm paying that much right?? lol My goal is to go 3 times this week.
@nstephenson01 Dennis is... adjusting lol. he's doing ok.
@sleepymom5 Charlie has always been one of my favorite names. I don't plan on having any human children so I have to use them on my pets lol. I like that Dennis' name is a little more original (for a dog anyway..) but he's named after Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Dennis Reynolds so we had to go with Charlie, another character on the show
@twyla77 those tacos look amazing!!! and WTG on the suspension bridge! I bet that was quite the thrill!
@cyndiesstuff I can't believe I came in 2nd for our team! I am celebrating but I know it's just back down to where it was -_- lol I'll take it though. It was lower earlier in the week *grumbles...*
@phoebe112476 enjoy your vacation!

Not a good weekend. Traveled to see my mom and overate goodies she had and had Chinese takeout while there. Then we came home and I had the leftover Chinese last night for dinner. I'm hoping the weight gain this week is from all the salt in the Chinese food.3 -

Week 4
Weigh in day Monday
PW: 137
CW: 138
A little gain. This is not bad considering we had a family bbq. I must het back to it straight away. Onhabegiven it some though and I want to be 130lbs. I just need to get going go back to basics planning journaling and sleep. Omg. Right time to get back to it. I know I can.3 -
Today has been a tough day. Said goodbye to the oldest until we see him at graduation in September.
I've only eaten one meal, but it was a pub burger, fries and a beer. Not even sorry.
I think after this weigh in Wednesday, I want to move to the cheering section for July. We'll be doing a ton of traveling, and my focus is going to shift to building muscle, which will probably result in some weight gain. Gonna try cutting inches, though.7 -
Hello and happy Monday everyone. I survived the weekend without losing control. It really is a daily battle. I can talk myself into anything- especially if I’m hungry! I’ve learned the HALT rule. That is - never let yourself get too hungry, angry, lonely or tired. When I break the rule I have various reactions and they usually aren’t good. They seem to be based on emotion rather than common sense!! Common sense and years of dieting!! I mean - I’ve known about diets since around 1963 when my mom was on this new diet called “Weight Watchers”!!6
-
I made a mistake of looking up gluteus Medius tear which was on my MRI script. I have those symptoms and the treatment could be surgery! That never even was on my radar! Ugh! I am getting ahead of myself. I don't need to needlessly be worrying about something that may not be. If I don't check in tomorrow, that means I overslept. I will check in at some point. Hope everyone has a good night!
@DananaNanas I know you are very busy with all of your dance obligations but they do sound like fun too..at least a little I hope for you. I am glad you joined the gym. Make a point to go, even if you just walk on the treadmill for 15 min. Just get into the routine of going and then start pushing yourself to do more. Maybe it would be a nice thing to do with your husband.
@Cafelelia Nice day Sunday! Glad your last week is here, then you are off July right?
@jedaschultz The sodium in the Chinese food can cause weight gain. Hopefully that is it and you will go in the other direction next week. Drink a lot of water and stay away from the goodies
@amsandos You are getting so close to your goal! Don't give up, you can do this!!
@GingerPwr Hugs! That must have been so hard. Your little guy is going to miss him. Your son is so handsome btw. They grow up so fast We will move you to the cheer squad for July. Sounds like you have a good plan for July. I hope you still check in with us. We will miss you.
@lennoncpa Great job this weekend! You should give yourself a pat on the back for getting through without losing control! I like the HALT rule, I have never heard that before! You gave me a little chuckle about the "new diet" your Mom was on. It seems like it has always been around but I guess it did have to start at some point! Lol!5 -
@gingerpwr what a sweet picture. Thanks for sharing. Your oldest looks so young to be shipping off.
Had my quarterly adjustment yesterday at chiropractor including acupuncture. Fell asleep in session. My calves and hips are still sore from hike. Nice to feel alive.
@Moarrein amazing accomplishment with your mountain and race finish!
I am a few pounds from goal. I have been on this site almost one year. I don’t believe I have witnessed anyone on our team hitting goal. It’s a life journey. Many of us have hit goal more than once in our lifetimes. I am determined to reach that goal number by July 10th. It’s the reason I joined this group. The accountability and support have been a huge part of my success. Thanks everyone!3 -
@sleepymom5 holy cow you tore your butt muscle?!?! Oucharoony! I hope you don't have to have surgery, but I've had a muscle tear and they are certainly not fun! Feel better and take it easy.
I'm getting ready to go sit at the DMV today. Packing a crochet project and a couple of books! Lol.2 -
@sleepymom5 did they confirm that you have a muscle tear? Good luck with your healing process0

Daily Check In: Monday
Food: logged and on target
Water: over 64 oz

Another good day yesterday! Today is full of appointments so got to run. Hope to be back at the shore later to at least get a bike ride in. Hope everyone has a great day!
@GingerPwr It is the gluteus medius that attaches to the hip so yes a butt muscle but the pain is at the hip. I am really hoping I don't have that! Good luck at the DMV, good idea bringing things to keep you occupied while you wait.
@Mrsbell8well It is awesome you are so close to your goal. You have done great! I have had many MFP friends hit their weight goals. Some over 100lbs and kept it off! Many have stayed on this site to stay accountable. There are many goals people hit that aren't weight goals. I have hit many goals myself. Labwork, blood pressure, fitness goals...I actually think staying on this site even while you struggle is awesome, I have seen so many people give up and only to return years later heavier and in worse shape then before. I agree with you, the support in this group is such an important part of this process. I have no doubt you will hit your goal in July! You are inspiring!

@Mrsbell8well That is what the diagnosis is on my MRI script. I hope the MRI doesn't find that...1

@cyndiesstuff - we spent the day at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore yesterday and we are staying right in this area. Lots of hiking around and carrying my 45 pound little one. Easy enough to do - after all I have lost more than 60 pounds! It was really foggy so we couldn’t see the scenic views but had a great time and plan to return another clearer day for the views and to visit the chocolate shop in Empire. Were you in the National Park in your honeymoon?
@lennoncpa - How in the world do you avoid being too hungry (that one I actually can understand an also strive for), angry, lonely or tired (that one also)?? It sounds great in theory, but in a day by day living it seems impossible. I have gained so much from the “that’s not yours suggestion” and want to apply this HALT also. Please explain how you apply this? Thanks!
@Mrsbell8well - You started around the same time as I did and we have had similar amounts to lose (I started on 8/4 at 228.5 and my current weight is about 167 with a goal of about 150; height is 5’ 5.5”). Watching your commitment and success has been very inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing and being part of this team! In my book you have gained so much already and if that 7/10 goal is pushed back some - you are such a winner in terms of improved health, habits, fitness, and mindset.
Yesterday evening the snacking went much better. I just told myself, “that’s not for you” as the group smacked in various things. I was not hungry and had eaten dinner plus an ice cream cone earlier. It worked out fine.
Today we have planned another day on the beach. I hope to kayak some more. And read some of my book. The kids will swim and play in the sand for hours. Looking forward to it. We have burgers and pasta salad planned for dinner. Sandwiches and veggies/fruit for lunch. S’mores on the fire this evening for desert. I love s’mores and am looking forward to having one. I used to eat too much desert but now find I am satisfied with one smaller serving. A huge win for me as I have quite a sweet tooth. I brought my normal chai tea latte with milk and my food scale with me. So I will have this for breakfast per usual routine.
Interestingly I am not missing my normal daily weighing routine much. I had been so very frustrated with the recent scale malfunction! Will get new batteries upon return home. If that doesn’t work I am buying a new scale. But today - I am off to the beach with my loves. Have a great day team!

Daily check in Monday
Food little better
Water 36 oz
Exercise hauled rock and started a new garden
Steps 6133
yesterday was a rest day for me but I got bored in the early afternoon so I went for a walk to the woods and dug up a small oak tree and came back to the house and replanted it in my front yard. while out there my neighbor stopped over and asked if I would come look at her project. went to her house and she wanted to put in a rock garden. ohhh what a fun project. so we started the design and hauled rocks. it will take some time with just her and I doing it but it will be grand fun!! counseling was good. really helped me. so for today, I am on track. this isn't an all or nothing proposition for me. either on or off. as long as the trend is in the right direction I need to be satisfied. so I am back to work. I will catch up with everyone in a little while.5 -
