Show me the green challenge: 0.5 pounds per week for total of 2.5 pounds in July ( 5 weeks, right?)2

Intro: 42 yo single mother to 4 girls. Overweight most of teens / adult life but minimally so and he really stable /happy with my weight. Disastrous short marriage resulted in 50ish pound gain in almost 2 years. I am not actually sure how much since I never weighed myself “back then.”
I weighed myself and committed to becoming healthy for me and my girls on 8/4/18. I am 5’5.5” and weighed 228.5 pounds. I started tracking calories, reading these forums, and trying to move more. I eventually became very skilled at counting every calorie and have been able to lose 62.5 pounds with relative ease. I have started doing yoga and love it; first form of exercise I have ever enjoyed. In the last month I have eased up on the logging calories and am trying to lose the last ~ 15 pounds by maintaining my eating habits learned over the last few months of calorie counting and eating when hungry /stopping when satisfied. I am very open to going back to counting if things don’t continue going well; am trying to ease slowly into maintenance and continue to learn what works for me along the way.
This team has been a great source of inspiration and support for me. I am looking forward to another great month!5 -
@nstephenson01 Wow! All that land! I can't even imagine we are so close where I live. I already know it is beautiful from the pictures you share with us. The -2 and +2 is the hunger scale from Phit and Phat aka eat when hungry and stop when satisfied. I love your goals for July. I need to add more fruit and veggies, now you have me thinking of a day or two vegetarian. Hmmm....
@Shirin_K Oh no! We will miss you! I hope you still check in. You don't have to respond to all the posts if you don't have time. This isn't supposed to be stressful, just check in when you can. I hope you return when things quiet down.
@Mrsbell8well Omg they look so good!!!
@Twyla77 I am sure that small gain is from TOM. Happy Canada Day! Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Hopefully you have tomorrow off too!4 -
@carlsoda I put you down for 5lbs so 142.2 if I did my math right
@phoebe112476 Yes, 5 weeks. I put you down for 165.4. You are such an inspiration! You have completely turned your life around. Congrats on the sale of the house! I know you will be relieved when that is all settled. Great job smashing through those goals in June, I know you will do the same in July!2 -
Hi Team!
I finally made it to the chat. Sorry it took me a minute 😉. My name is Mikaila. I am a Seattle native and still living in the area. This is my first time joining this group. I'm glad I found it!
I'm turning 34 in 10 days and weigh over 300lbs (323lb this past Wed). 2019 has not been kind to me and my family. There has been multiple tragedies and health issues with relatives and myself. On top of that, my case load this year as a special needs teacher was incredibly challenging. Now that I have put the school year away and made it the middle of 2019, I want to jump back into my big goal of being a 100lb+ weight loser. One of my friends in Seattle recently met her goal of losing over 100lbs and she didn't call it losing - she call it "elimination" because she wasn't planning on finding those pounds again. (I like that idea).
Of course, big goals need little goals and steps for those little goals, so here are my goals for July:
- log food everyday
- make water a priority
- work out in some way everyday (I'm moving next week and I am definitely considering that a work out
- PT stretches daily, if not every other day
- lose (eliminate) 10lbs
- attempt boxing class again
- be kind to myself with my thoughts
I used to workout in a boxers gym (in 2018) and lost 45lbs until I injured my Achilles. I. LOVED. BOXING. The traditional boxing, not the kick boxing. I had to go through PT and, unfortunately, became too discouraged to keep up my food plans. With my regular struggle with emotional eating and attraction to all things caffeinated and/or sugary, I gained all but 12lbs back. I almost feel like I'm at the starting line of my overll goal again. But I am going to focus on being kind to myself and a bit more understanding of my physical abilities. Joining fighters for their workouts isn't an option right now, but it will be again. I found a boxing gym that I am going to try this month to see how it goes. Besides that, working out at the gym, going for walks, doing yoga to stretch my body and enduring dry saunas of 155°F is my go to for physical self-care along with the occasional face mask. 😁
Nice to meet you all and good luck eliminating pounds this month!6 -

Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I live in the UK. I have been big my whole life have to work to stay at a healthy BMI. I
Good morning over the weekend I completed my triathlon. I was really pleased I managed to do a personal best in the swim and the run. I don't know if you heard but there was a heat wave in Europe. I got through 3/4 of the run then the race organisers stopped the event. They had run out of water on one of stations. I have sunburn on my back.
I have been struggling for the past week eating badly and my weight has started to creep up again. I am going back to basics. I am going to do calorie counting to get myself back to where I was. I also promise to check in everyday.
I have decided that I am going to work towards being 130lbs. My new fitness goal is to do a century ride, that is to ride 100 miles on the bike at the end of September.
I will keep working to improve my fitness.5 -
Hi everyone I'm Lilly from Bulgaria and this is my second month in FAT 2 FIT challenge. I'm married, mother of a 6-year old boy. I've graduated in architecture 10 years ago, but currently I work from home for an on-line store.
I've never been very fit or slim, but after giving birth and staying home I gained too much for my height ( at some point 2 years ago I was 73 kg for my 157 cm). So I started using MFP, logging my food and taking part in all the fun challenges I could. I started exercising more, tried jogging and really liked it, I fell in love with trail running and participated in several marathons, half marathons and 2 ultras (those I couldn't finish). I've had some ups and downs in my health journey so far, but currently I'd say I'm in a pretty decent shape and just 3 kg away from my goal weight
I love this challenge and I wish I had more time to take part in the discussions but right now I have hardly time to check in daily.
Check in for Saturday and Sunday:
Food - logged on Saturday, but skipped Sunday, yet I think I managed to stay on track - no sugar, but a little late night snack last night
Water - enough
Exercise - 5K run, 70 min yoga and some walking
Steps: 21045 (Sat) + 9065 (Sun)
Plan for today: (I have no idea if we do this daily plan thing in July, but I love it):
Log my food and try to stay under, despite the Birthday party, we're attending this evening
Stay hydrated
Try at least 3 of the chair exercises above
30 min walking6 -
SHOW ME THE GREEN CHALLENGEI'd like to lose 6 pounds in July.

@McKay85 - welcome! Looking forward to getting to know you!!!
Sunday Checkin
Food - great
Water - not enough!!
Exercise - not enough!!
Today's Plan:
Food - is all preplanned out - I know what I'll make for supper but just trying to decide if it will be beef or chicken based
Water - working on my first 16 oz's right now
Exercise - 12,000 steps plus yoga!
Day 1 of Whole30 is starting out good!!
Update on my issues last week - first load went out on Friday (yay!!!) now to get the rest out this week! AND...get caught up on all my other work!!
Also, short week at work! We leave early on Wednesday and get Thursday and Friday off. We're planning to hit some state parks for some hiking! My goodness I need a 4 day weekend SO bad! We're also looking at our fall vacation and deciding when to go. We always like to go somewhere after all the kids go back to school. Thinking Duluth and North Shore for 4 days. Love Lake Superior and the clean crisp air up there. We stay at a lovely AirBNB home up in the woods with a woodfire finish sauna and a wood stove in the house and it's such a good deal to stay there. Cheaper than a hotel room and we get a whole house!! One year we went to the Black Hills and had such a fun time there, but that was pre-Lucy days, I really don't want to leave her for too long
Hope everyone has a wonderful successful day 1 of July!!4 -
@cyndiesstuff - I'll be doing yoga stretches in my chair today!!0
-
@Julie8468 hey girl! I love your goals for July. and good job at using those 4 circles. keep that front and center. put them on your frig and read them every day. we are going to do it this month. are you going to make a pledge for the green challenge?
@Mrsbell8well hi twinsie!! you are looking lovely in that polka dot suit! sooo sticking cute! you day sounds super busy. get your water and get to it!! and as for the blackberry bars..... yessssss please, you know how I love diet food!!
@sleepymom5 did you ever do that eating challenge in the beck diet solution? I know it scares you but it really will help you with your feelings around food. it was hard but worth it. in the one chapter it talks about logging your feeling with every meal, as your eating it. it helps you to learn what feeling satisfied feels like. also, what I had heard on a podcast (don't know which one, I listen to a lot) but instead of leaving food on your plate, try putting a smaller portion on your plate, then going to the table to eat and when your finished, give yourself 5 minutes to really think about if your are hungry or not, and if you are you can go back and get some more. sometimes just breaking the cycle, the routine, makes you realize it is time to stop. and the doritos thing floored me. normal eaters don't even think about eating when they are no longer hungry. this may never be us. but we certainly can get in a habit of saying, "I AM DONE" lets do this in july pam. we are going to move that scale.
@carlsoda you are so lucky you enjoy your job. I am so hoping that my new position will be more engaging. the whole 30 is a great program. I hope you have more success with it this month. yoga in the chair!! get it done girl.
@pacsnc6 Hey Patsy!! you have really been doing awesome. what is your plan for losing 20 more pounds? be specific about what you will do daily to meet that goal! wooo whoo we are going to get it done in july!! I love your july goals.
@bmaison2014 that is just a small gain. what will you do differently today to change your momentum? make a commitment. lets get that scale moving in the right direction in july! come on.... we will do it together.
@ljdanny Hi Tracy!! purple and grey is sooo pretty. did you ever figure out your baby shower problem? And your son is such a strong young man. tell him, from one car accident victim to another, that someone from Michigan thinks he is awesome. and do more that move your food scale!! lol turn in on and use it!!!
@nstephenson01 Hey lady!! 50 and fabulous!! that is Nancy. you are building a great new you. I love how far you have come. and glad that you are here with us. and you are so right. country life will make you realize real fast that you have been living sedentary. you are amazing and I have loved watching you thru your journey.
@Shirin_K we are going to miss you and remember you can still drop by and comment any time you want and we would truly enjoy that.
@twyla77 TOM will do that to the scale. I know you enjoyed that beautiful weather by that amazing walk you had. good job getting out there. and july is the month you are going to lose that 4 pound. we will do it together. lets jump into july and be happy to live our lives and be on track at the same time!!
@phoebe112476 ohhhh yea girl. look at all the amazing things you have been doing in your life. you are truly an inspiration to us all. you keep working your plan phoebe.... and smile.... it looks good on you.
@McKay85 it is really nice to "meet" you. hmmm life sure can be tough sometimes but tough times don't last forever, tough people do. and you are proof of that. you are here learning how to live your life in good times and bad and still take care of yourself. one of the biggest hurdles you will face if changing your relationship with food. starting a journal really helps get your feelings out on paper. come here and write about it too. we have all felt the same way as you to one extent or another. and we are a great source of support and information.
@amsandos ohhh ma lady. sorry about the gain. good job completing your triathlon. muscle fatigue could have something to do with it. and remember, it was you who started the saying, "That's not for me!!" get back to it. this is not a diet, it is a life style. start rolling that ball down the other side of the hill. we can do this. 100 bike ride? wowow you are a rock star! lets get this going!!
@Moarrein you have been a great addition to our team. your momentum to get this done is truly praise worthy. and just the fact of knowing that you have to translate everything on this thread is a testament to your commitment. do the daily planning thing! I love it. how did you do on the chair exercises?2 -
@Mrsbell8well Thanks for the suggestion. I will check it out.
@shirin_K Awe I'm going to miss you so much! Hope you are able to check in once in a while
@phoebe112476 I continue to be inspired by your success despite everything going on in your busy life!
Welcome @McKay85 "elimination" I like that and yes the words we say to ourselves matter. Its important to be kind.
Wow @amsandos Congrats on the triathlon!!
@carlsoda your fall vacation sounds soooo nice! I can almost picture myself there in the sauna LOL
Daily check in: Sunday
Food: On plan
Water: Good
Exercise & steps: dog walk, lots and lots of yard work; 19,059 steps
Today's food is pre-logged. Other than my yoga class, today will be a planned rest day. Maybe a little light housework and I need to fertilize my veggie garden.
Happy Monday all!!5 -
Happy July, everyone!
So I'm going into the cheer section this month, but since I'm trying to do strength training and to cut inches, I thought I'd share my measurements today and then, hopefully, by the end of July, I'll have something positive to share.
Here we go:
Bust: 38
Waist: 35
Hips: 41
Thigh: 21.5
@Mrsbell8well I do plan on doing some heavy lifting at the gym - mostly free weights because that's what I like best. I'm also going to do some body weight HiiT type workouts and will also keep walking.
Right now I'm at my mom's, so I don't have access to weights. I'm just doing body weight stuff and going for walks this week. Next week I'll be hiking and kayaking in Montana, and the heavy lifting will begin in earnest the week after that.
And hello to any newbies! I'm Casey and I absolutely love this group! Welcome!!7 -
Daily check in: Sunday
Food: logged and under
Water: 96 oz
Exercise & steps: 30 min bike ride and 5,151 steps
Great day yesterday and planning to repeat today! One thing I am especially proud of is that I was able to not snack last night. I had plenty of calories for a snack but didn't have it on my plan. I actually wanted to emotional eat very badly but I made myself peppermint tea instead. Today is a beautiful day so I am going to get out there and enjoy it!
My exercise today is going to be bike riding and hopefully kayaking. I am also hoping Daisy will go on a 20 min walk. She hasn't been up to it lately. She just goes out to relieve herself and wants to go right back in.
@McKay85 Welcome! I think this team will be a good fit for you. I love Seattle! What a beautiful part of the country to live. Awesome goals for this month. I am glad you are here and I hope you check in with us at least daily!
@amsandos Congratulations on completing your triathlon in that heat AND STILL getting your personal best in two of the three events! That is awesome! I love how you already have your sight set on another amazing competition in September. We do miss you checking in but know how busy you get. Hopefully you can check in more. Are you doing your 24 hour plan? I think getting back to the basics is a great way to start the month!
@Moarrein Looks like you had an fantastic weekend and a great day planned! July won't change too much day to day so keep on posting. You have been an awesome addition to our team!
@cyndiesstuff Looks like things are going well for you lately. I am happy to see that. Sorry I messed up the weights. I thought it was the goal weight not pounds. That's why I shouldn't do things in the evening Lol! Sorry you had to re enter everything..
@pacsnc6 Nice goals for the month! Let's make July our best month yet!
@carlsoda Great plan to start the month off right! I am glad that you work situation looks like it is getting sorted out now. I am also happy you have a short week and get away after that stressful week! Your fall plans sound lovely too. We are still deciding where to go this fall.
@nstephenson01 I am not sure if a 90min yoga class counts as a rest day! Lol! I know what you mean though, you are not doing anything additional. Sounds like you have a great day planned and are starting the month off right!
@GingerPwr Sounds like you also have an awesome plan for the month! I was so happy to see that you posted. Happy July!4 -
Hello Everyone and Happy Monday!
I just weighed myself after tracking my food the last 5 days and being able to only go to the gym twice. It looks like I am down 4.6lbs! I couldn't be happier, yet I am pushing through those self-defeating thoughts of now only being 16lbs down vs 45lbs. But kindness to self is my real lifelong goal, so I will be kind with my thoughts.
For today's workout, I'm going to endure my first hot yoga session. Sitting on heat is one thing. Moving in the heat is another. I am nervous and getting my water in now with only 2hrs until class. I'll let you know how it goes later! A boxing gym has reached out to me today, too. If I survive this hot yoga, I'll try the boxing tomorrow and dedicate Wednesday to stretching as we will be starting our moving process then.
All the best today!5 -

Hi! I am Lisa from Toronto, Canada. I have been on this team since January and on MFP since last year. I am 5’3”, started last year at 168 lbs, lost 23 lbs, but put some back on due to a sciatica injury starting last October. I am currently at around 154 lbs and my goal is 135 lbs. My husband and I have been together for 20 years and we have two boys, ages 13 and almost 9. I am a runner and have been in physio since January for sciatica. I am absolutely thrilled with yesterday’s step count, which I never would have though possible a few months ago when I was in so much pain. My big focus in 2019, aside from recovering from my injury, is living a more balanced life and focusing on things that bring joy (yes, I am a Marie Kondo devotee).
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians! A big welcome to any new team members!
July Goals:
We are taking a 3 week family vacation to Europe (France and Ireland) starting on July 11th. I contemplated moving to the cheer squad this month, but I don’t want to! Yes, I will be eating delicious food on my trip, but we will be doing a ton of walking. We are staying in Airbnb houses, so I will have a kitchen everywhere we go, and I will bring my trusty travel scale. So my goal this month will be to maintain my weight, stick to my daily calorie budget most days, do my daily physio exercises, and raise my step average up to 10k or more per day (I am averaging around 8k). Most importantly, I want to enjoy time with my family, relax and have some amazing experiences on our trip. Also, drink some champagne!

I am very frustrated with myself. This weekend was a disaster, my eating, water drinking, and exercise was all over the place. I was home alone so I went out with friends almost all day and night over the weekend. I am grateful I didn't pick up more weight. As Monday's go for me, I meal prepped for the week not for the weekend we shall see how it goes. What a rollercoaster ride7
-
Happy Canada Day!!
I want to lose a few pounds before my 2 week vacation to Canada in August, hopefully the scale agrees with me.
I was up at 4:15 exercising, yay me!! My family plans on coming over to use my pool today but if they change their mind I may also go for a walk after work. I already started logging my food today, and last night had breakfast, lunch and snack ready for today. Tonight is chicken for dinner. Forgot to leave the scale out, but today is a new day. And plan on getting my 10,000 steps in. Short workweek. It's a tom kind of week so the scale still better agree with me.7 -
@nstephenson01 are you still doing the goat yoga? and what do you use for fertilizer?
@GingerPwr you should add in bicep measurements! and did you take pictures? I am so glad you are going to share this journey with us. it is going to be nice watching you reshape your body.
@sleepymom5 that is a great NSV!! nooooo snack!! good job. make sure to spend some time internalizing how you felt this morning after sticking to your 24 hour plan. and no worries about the weights thing. the only reason I figured it out is I went to other peoples teams and looked at theirs. first I had to find the column tho. your good. hugz.
@McKay85 4.6 lbs is a great first week loss. you have a long way to go so your right... learning how to talk to yourself with compassion is very important. I try to not focus so much on the scale. I know that if I am meeting my goals daily then the weight will come off. This is not a diet. This is a life changing event. everything you are doing now should be something you can live with for the rest of your life. ohhh yea, and just an FYI, today is your weigh in day. in our Team we weigh in like this:
Username: McKay85
Weigh in week: 1
Weigh in day: Monday
Previous Weight: 323
Todays Weight: 318.4
and the only thing that should be in that post is that. The weigh in. Thanks and I am glad you are here! lets make this the last time we lose this weight!!
@Cafelelia joy is so important in this life. if you are busy living a joyful life there is not a whole lot of time left for overeating!! and I love your plans for july. learning to live your life while you maintain your weight is a very important step. you can do this.
@gottagetthisdown yeah, the weekends can be tough. when are you going to make the commitment to stay off the rollercoaster? have you made your plan for july? maybe do some reflection and make a new plan. what is going on with the nutritionist?
@ljdanny lol and if the scale don't agree with you, throw it out the window and just use your food scale!!6 -
@cyndiesstuff I guess I need to actually say I will make a commitment to get off of this rollercoaster in order for it to actually happen. Well I'm saying it now, I will no longer allow myself to stay on this weekend rollercoaster I will plan my weekend eating or remain cognizant or what I am eating and doing. Today is a new day a chance to start fresh. After work today I am going to take a nap then clean my kitchen while I wait for my daughter to get home from camp. We are having Bobo's chicken for dinner tonight, it is fried chicken and heavy sides but it is what I have a tatse for today. I have eaten light so far today so dinner I can eat what I want. I will get my exercise in today whether it's in a class or doing weights and cardio at home. I have only had 24 oz of water today and I would like to get that to a gallon by the end of the day.
I saw the nutritioist last week and I told her my intentions for last week but I did not carry them out. My children were not home for 2 weeks and I took full adventage of it. I didn't stay on top of much of anything because they were not home. I see the nutritionist again next week and we will go from there. I have to get back to checking in on a regular basis and being honest with myself on what I'm doing wrong.4 -
Ha ha @sleepymom5 I guess a 90 minute yoga class isn’t exactly resting. I hope Daisy is feeling better. Maybe its the heat. My dogs don’t tolerate the heat now that they’re older.
@cyndiesstuff same instructor but the goat yoga was a one time event. LOL I just use Miracle Grow once a week. The dirt we put in the raised beds isn’t very good.
Thanks all for the -2 +2 explanation. I like Phit n Phat’s podcasts but guess I haven’t gotten to that one yet.
Love reading about everyone’s summer vacation plans! Living vicariously through you all!3 -
Some asked to see race pics here you go5
-
Wow @amsandos you look spectacular!!!! I love your photos.
@twyla77 I thought you had hit your goal in this last year. Let's both hit our goals together this month.
I was thinking the other day that most of us have been right where I am today. At their goal or pretty darn close only to gain it all back and then some. We all talk about the necessity of making life style changes not just going on a diet.
@julie8467 your recent post really got me thinking. This life of ours and our weight loss journey isn't about carrot sticks, celery and cottage cheese. It's about sisters in high drama, moms in nursing homes, old folks moving in with us, family members in tragic accidents, bodies with torn glute muscles, cheating spouses, sons with mental disorders, husbands that travel for a living, spouses that don't have the same fitness/health goals that we do, jobs that are horribly demanding, neighbors that bug us, days upon days of rain and gardens that struggle to grow, funerals, weddings, birthdays, holidays and everything else in between. What are we going to do about it??? How are we going to navigate this life of ours??? Who understands that it isn't how many calories I consume...it's about my everyday life and my everyday choices.
Today I choose me! I have a policy that I put 3 things as a priority above everything else that goes on in my life. I sleep, I take time to eat nutritious foods, and I exercise. These 3 focus areas when they are nurtured, help me to navigate anything and everything else that comes my way. I have spent the last 358 days caring about me and it shows.
Who understands??? My team members understand. You have been here in my shoes. You either have lived what I am going through or have lived life enough to completely understand. It has made all the difference in the world to me. I owe my bikini body to each and everyone of you on this team that has been here for me through all my many life challenges and successes. Thank you!!!

Introduction, I am Barb, 61, retired and live near Harrisburg PA. I have two sons (28 and 29,) a 19 month old grand daughter, a daughter in law and a cat named Stella. I lost over 100 pounds when I turned 50 with the help of a trainer at the YMCA. Since then my marriage dissolved and I gained the weight back.
I need this accountability and I see my trainer again once a week for some serious strength training. I have really struggled cooking for one and portion control. I have used mfp in the past with great success and started using it again last week
My goals for July are to lose 6,0 pounds and move every day.5 -
@McKay85 Awesome loss! Give yourself credit for making a plan and following through! The scale certainly is reflecting that! Don't look back, you aren't going that way. Just go forward and kick butt! I am glad you are working on positive self talk. It is really important to be kind to ourselves. Hot Yoga! You will have to let us know how you liked it. I am also happy to hear you are going to get to box this week. I know you were saying how much you love it. Enjoy!
@gottagetthisdown Don't beat yourself up over this. Sounds like you already have set yourself up for a successful week. Remember to make a plan. It makes things so much easier. Hopefully now that the kids are back that you are able to get yourself into a good routine. I know you can do this. When you are focused, you can kick butt!
@Cafelelia Your vacation sounds wonderful! I don't think you have to go to the cheer squad but I will have to check to see about the 3 weeks. Since the 11th is on a Thursday, just weigh in early that week and also weigh in when you get home. I think it would just be the two weeks if I am looking at it right. Hope you had a nice Canada day!
@amsandos Thanks for posting the race pics! You look great!
@nstephenson01 Daisy is feeling better, they put her on an antibiotic. She isn't too great in the heat either, she lays on the bed, in the AC watching the other dogs jump in the bay. Lol! She has no interest in going out there in the heat.
@Mrsbell8well Well said! I still am surprised how unexpected things that come up don't derail me anymore. I actually feel myself heading that way and remember that I can make it through without having to throw all my progress away. I make plans, even in the stressful times and it really helps. It is truly life changes that make this work.
@Barbb1557 Welcome! Thank you for the introduction! I am from PA too, I am outside of Philadelphia. I think you will like this group. Sounds like you have a good plan for the month. I am glad to hear that you are going to the trainer again. You did this before so you know you can do this again. Portion control is something I am working on now too. I tend to over eat a lot. I am doing better though. Try to check in daily with us and review your prior day and set your goals for the next. Just look through the posts, you will see how we do it. This is a very supportive group. We tell the good, the bad and the ugly so feel free to open up.
