Happy with the weight. The step count is sad though. I've been on a reading spree and have gotten some pottery time in which doesn't help with steps very much.
FANTASTIC job! You have passed your Green July pledge by almost a pound. That reading spree and pottery time have not done any harm there, but you still might enjoy some of this summer weather out taking some more steps or getting some sweat on... You're near Worcester, Mass. - right? I grew up in Lunenburg a ways north of you, and get down there to visit my happy pappy from time to time. Next time I'm down we could meet for a long walk somewhere
I'm in Bolton. I would love to meet up and walk if you are in the area. That would be great!2 -
So I just read this article about "rucking," which has its origin in the military. Basically, it's walking with a weighted backpack on your back. https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/torch-calories-with-this-military-inspired-walking-workout/
I've already got a backpack with padded straps and canned goods in the pantry that I could use. I could SO do this. I don't like being on uneven ground because I will not risk hurting my knees for anything or anybody; besides the pain, the recovery time is too long. Give me paved ground or my living room floor any day. I'm going to try rucking this week, even if its indoors during my Star Trek time. I'll let you know how it goes.
Haven't started my C25K yet like I said it would. It's just too hot!5 -

Oh @evangsimmons170 RUCK MARCHES! I have heard SO many stories from my daughter about the dreaded ruck marches in the Canadian Army - she would really wonder why anyone would want to do this! Let's just hope that yours is lighter, more comfortable, and that you don't have the long sleeved uniform, the heavy tactical vest, the boots, or some over-inspired guy yelling at you the whole way
Even now, after she has been serving for several years, there is a ruck march almost every week. For everyone. Granted - she is pretty danged fit! let us know how this goes.
Thanks, stepping people for all the beautiful numbers. I like them much better than sad, empty cells in the spreadsheet
I have had a busy couple of days, and tomorrow will also be a bit wild, but then I will be able to catch up. Things are good!0 -
@jugar I just figured that it was time to switch things up a bit. I think my body has figured out that I have no intentions of slacking off. So I think it's getting used to what I was doing for the last 2 weeks with the higher step counts. I dont want to hit a plateau, so I think it's time to do something different like rucking for the next 2 weeks. Gotta keep my body guessing.
It was over 100 degrees today here in Texas. Walking outside ain't gonna happen. 😅1 -

Flawless_K wrote: »OK, yes I would like to change my weigh-in day to Monday and I've revised my July 2019 weight loss goal to 6 lbs (2 lbs for each of the three weeks that are left). Thank you for the welcome!
This is my first weigh-in since joining the group last week. I am intentionally "testing" eating low-carb and I was successful Monday - Friday of last week. When I weighed in on Monday July 8th I was 223.2. On Friday morning, I weighed 219.2. I was so happy to see a 4lb weight loss even (even if it was water loss). I achieved a 4 lb weight loss without even being "perfect" eating low carb. There were some low energy points where I just couldn't help it.
But then came the family reunion where there was an abundance of food and carbs and lots of goodness. I didn't binge( thank goodness) but I didn't eat restrictively either. Came back home last night from the reunion (Dallas, TX). I weighed in this morning and I had gained back 3.6 lbs!!!!!!! 3.6 f*#%ing ponuds in two days!!!
So. my official weigh-in today:
7/8/19: 223.2 lbs.
7/15/19: 222.8 lbs
NSV: I am also very proud of exercising 5 of the 7 days last week. Average steps last week were 7,054 with a total of 38,927.
All right! I have changed you to a Monday weigh-in, but that leaves you only 2 more weigh-ins to complete the month. The beginning of the challenge was June 30, so you missed a bit at the beginning. For the moment, I have put you down for 5 pounds for the month -- so it's just a tad over 2 pounds per week remaining, since you have lost .4 already. Does that work for you?
And I agree with @evangsimmons170 - I hope you really enjoyed the reunion, 3.6 pounds be d*#*%d!
WORKS FOR ME!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING FLEXIBLE.0 -

Sorry I've been missing from the posts. So much going on between work, home and my parents, not much time to jump online. But I'm still tracking and trying to move more.
Got 12,006 steps in yesterday.2 -

Exercise minutes = 23
Steps = 7,106
Water (in oz) = 40
So I tried "rucking" last night. I loaded nearly 19 lbs of textbooks in my backpack and strapped it on while I walked and jogged around my house while watching Star Trek Enterprise. That's how I was able to torch so 311 calories in only 23 minutes. I hope to make it through an entire episode next time (tomorrow). Fat be gone!3 -
Spent the day in Jasper yesterday. Had a bear come right up to the truck...so amazing.
A bit of a funny...
We were walking the Maligne canyon trail...well we just kept walking because the map looks like a loop...you hit the bottom and there's a Y in the path...we checked the map and it said the left one went to some washrooms and the right to the parking lot...so went right. 30 min later - Not our parking lot...we were done...had walked almost 3 hrs...anyone Chris went to the only vehicle in the lot - a tour bus and asked how to get back to the main lot...the driver just said oh oh. You are at the bottom...it's a few hours up...lol. Anyway he asked the tour if we could hitch a ride up the mountain...it was AWESOME. A story to tell...we also got to catch a bunch of wildlife since it was a wildlife tour!!!
Oh...to top it off. If we would have went left at the Y to the washrooms we would have been at the parking lot!!5
