Whoops... haven't checked in for a few days. TOM arrived unexpectedly Friday morning 2 weeks early WTH?!?! Managed to make it to my morning yoga class but mostly took a rest day. Went to the Farmer's Market Saturday morning and they had beautiful plums. I rarely buy fresh fruit as the flavor usually disappoints me but these are delicious. Bought a french baguette and artisan cheese to have with the plums which I snacked on most of yesterday. For dinner I made cauliflower alfredo sauce for the first time to go over butternut squash ravioli.. it was so good and really easy. Will definitely make it again. It was a rather self indulgent day and I can tell today that I've consumed too many carbs. Time to rein in my eating. Water and exercise have been good at least.

Friday: 30 minute dog walk; 90 minute yoga class; 11,390 steps
Saturday: 30 minute dog walk, yard work; 13,271 steps
Weekly recap: 93,743 steps; 3 vegetarian dinners; sleep is better some nights, some not; still a work in progress

Off for a quick walk then more yard work. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Checking in. Saturday was good, I helped my friend walk her two dogs. Then we went out to dinner. I was torn between I deserve a break and I have worked so hard. I chose the halibut stuffed with crab, green beans, and a salad. I ate 2 of the 12 croutons, and just a few bites of the crab stuffing(mayonnaise based) green beans were in an Asian sauce which I scraped off and the ha!ibut was broiled, but a lot of butter. I ate 1/4 of the roll and skipped the raspberry butter.
It felt like a success and my weight was down today. I am heading out soon to walk with my friend
    Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Week 4 Challenge from Shrinking Assets
This week is going to be about what makes us happy or thankful. Let’s make a list of those items. But how long is the list going to be? Well, it’s all about your age. Add the 2 numbers of your age together. For example, I am 55, so 5+5=10. My list will have 10 things that make me happy or thankful. Everyday take a few items from your list and share it with the your teammates.

    Check in for Saturday
Food: Didn't log but probably under or on track
    Water: way over 64
Exercise: 30 min walk and PT
    Steps: 7,481

Had a nice day yesterday. Today it is so windy. It is a shame, we are just hanging out. Too windy for the beach and too cool to go in the bay. I feel bad for my guests but they are happy to just be away and hang out.

@ihp2015 We totally understand how busy life gets. No worries about posting and commenting. Remember we are here if you need us though. Hope things get a little easier in September.
@Mrsbell8well What a beautiful place to ride your bike! Sounds like you scored at the thrift store too! Enjoy your fun and productive weekend!
@nstephenson01 Ugh! Have to love the TOM arriving whenever it wants to...I have the same problem with fresh fruit. I just bought a bunch that weren't that great. I wonder if the season for some of the summer fruit is almost done. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
@amytriesww Another awesome loss! You had a great month my friend!
@barbb1157 Sounds like you had a nice Saturday and made great choices at dinner. Dinner actually sounded delicious. Hope you have a great day today!

OK, I am 66 so will try to list 12 things that make me happy:
A long marriage (49 years this week), a good meal, a good book, a good movie, visit with my kids or grandkids, music. Halfway there. Will come back with more later.

@pacsnc6 I will have to think and come up with mine tomorrow. I am 53 so I only have 8 I need to do. You are off to a great start! Congrats on your 49th anniversary!
@CassieGetsFit2013 Do you think that is an accurate weight? What can we do to help? Do you have a plan? Remember we are here for you.

    weekly checkin
I was doing ok last week then I had a couple of bad migraines and didn't work out and took my eye off the ball logging and food wise. Yesterday I lost it and went into food melt down. I debated what I should do. I told myself that I would come on and lie and then I thought what is the point in that I need to own what I am doing to myself. Even if I am not currently in a place to do something about it.

Today is another melt down day. Realistically I am not conviced I will be able to get into diet mode at all as our weekend away is looming. I don't want to wreck the group stats but there is a very very good chance that I will gain again next week.

    Happy Monday!

    yesterday's check in:

    Food - good
    Water - not so great
Exercise - sore back so only got in around 4500 steps

Today's plan is already written down!

Still working on a big project at work and hoping to complete it today. It's one of those projects that makes you want to eat...reviewing forecasting for the next year. Doesn't sound fun does it? :)

    Have a great Monday!!

Checking in. I met two friends and one brought her two dogs and we walked around a really nice park near me.
I eat a lot of frozen Healthy Chice simply healthy meals to help with portion control. I am always under my sodium limits for the day. Last night I had to cook. I had whole wheat spaghetti with one chicken tender, parmesan. Cheese and a little salt. Breakfast was 1 egg plus 2 egg whites Omlet with onions a little shredded cheese and salsa, yogurt, and a small tomato.
I see so many good recipes for quinoa and chicken, I really need to bite the bullet and start cooking for myself.

    Sunday check in
    Food-not great
    Water-not great
    Exercise-none

Ugh! The weather is so crappy so we have been staying inside. I can't even ride my bike it is so windy. I am also snacking, which I shouldn't be. Today is a little better so far. I have just gotten out of my usual routine. It is already after 2 and I am just getting on here. Tomorrow evening my guests leave but I am not sure if they will head out earlier because it hasn't been beach weather. Hopefully the winds will die down a bit tomorrow so I can at least ride my bike. I am starting to reflect on August and the entire summer in general. I really didn't do well at all, even with all my planning. I am really going to start thinking of my goals and what I want. I can't believe August is almost over. Let's finish August strong ladies! No matter how we did the rest of the month. Hope everyone has a great day!

@GingerPwr We have you on the team for September. We have your weigh in day as Wednesday. I just need a starting weight when you are ready. If you want to change your weigh in day let me know. We are happy to have you back!
@DananaNanas Maybe you should think about switching your weigh in day to earlier in the week. Then you have some slack with the days. If you miss Saturday, the next week begins Sunday so there is no slack there at all. Just something to think about. Can't wait to see the pics of your basement!
@amsandos First of all, I want you to give yourself credit for coming on here and being honest. That is a big step AND that is why we are here. You aren't expected to be perfect or to never go off course. We are here for the good, the bad and the ugly!! I know you are very busy but once you step away or stop you aren't going to be happy with the results. Just start very small. Small steps. What can you do that can get you back to the right frame of mind. Maybe start with staying away from the treats at work, get your water in, if you aren't finding time to exercise take a short walk or do a video. You do such killer workouts, you don't have to do that now if you don't have the time, just do something. Also take a few minutes at night to PLAN. Plan the tomorrow and plan when you go away. You are going to be so unhappy if you have a big gain. You have lost so much weight, don't have to re lose it. I know you have it in you! xoxo
@carlsoda Happy Monday my friend! Hope you get your project done without any snacking! I know you can do it! You have your plan so you are set!
@lennoncpa I love the pic, what a beautiful family! I am glad you had fun in NYC with your family! You had great weather! I already saw that you were back to your workouts this am-great job getting right back into it!!
@jedaschultz I didn't have the best summer either but no reason to beat ourselves up. We need to get ourselves together now so we can have better results in September. We can do this my friend!
@Barbb1557 That walk sounded like a nice way to get exercise in, having a friend with you makes it so much more enjoyable too. I need to start cooking for myself too. I am going to look into those Healthy Choice since they don't seem like they would have too much sodium. They would be good to have on hand in a pinch.

@lennoncpa what a lovely family photo!

I had the most spectacular weekend! I started out Friday morning with a 41 minute hill run. Saturday an hour bike ride. Sunday a 3 mile 1 hour hike around the lake and went swimming in the lake. It was a bit nerve wracking. The weather was 71 degrees so there was only a tiny handful of peeps in kayaks etc. No one was swimming. The water temp was 78 degrees. It is my most favorite place to swim. Extremely clean lovely water. Molly and I stood on the deck contemplating what to do. I am a bit of a chicken swimming in large open waters by myself. My poor wife had to go with me. We finally built up the courage and jumped in. It was fabulous!!! I am so glad we did it. We played cribbage, put on our sweatshirts, ate lunch and snacks then put our shorts on and laid out in the sun. It was such a beautiful day at the lake and we pretty much had it all to ourselves.
We came home and I fried up those shishito peppers to eat with mom and dad. Then I made a pizza and salad, drank 1/2 a beer and an incredible piece of banana cream pie.
It was the perfect weekend. This morning I weighed 145.6. I haven't weighed that much in a long time. Molly and I made a pack to "diet" between now and Saturday. It is humbling to be back on a stricter eating plan. I feel great but we all know how fast that scale can ride back up. Especially if we are super active we think we can get away with anything. It was indulgent and I doubt that I would do anything different. Happy to be scaled back again. I am still determined to ring in a clean 142 even, before I see September.

@Mrsbell8well That sounds like a perfect weekend! I am glad you enjoyed it!
@amytriesww Looks like you are having an awesome day! How much do you normally have of water? Maybe you can just add a cup to that for a while and take baby steps up to where you want to be. I also leave a glass of water out and take sips through out the day. You would be surprised how those sips add up!

@amytriesww I used to drink 8oz every hour from 8-4. Didn’t seem like much but I got it in. Also liked using 36 oz water bottles. 2 and I was done. Sounds like your doing great.
@hope002 that’s a whole lot of steps! Great job.
@amsandos thanks for your honesty. Weight struggles are so personal and deals with so much more than food. Hang in there.
@sleepymom5 thanks for the continued words of encouragement. I agree with you about finishing the month strong. Summer is waving good by. Sweaters and jeans, pumpkins, soups, cozy blankets coming up.

    Monday Check in

Food - had one "overeat" due to stress. Still trying to figure it out
    Water - great
    Exercise - 12,000+ steps

I'm still trying to understand why I can so easily give in to junk food at work. It has something to do with how I feel but I can't quite nail it down. Anxious maybe? I was working on forecasting which is a huge excel spreadsheet broken down by customer and month and it's a bit intimidating reviewing everything :) And...maybe it's habit and my brain is expecting something at that time of the day. I've got to figure this out as it's stopping me from reaching my goals!

@lennoncpa - what a beautiful picture of the four of you! Everyone looks so happy :)

    Tuesday Check in
Food: On plan so far....I meal prepped for the week, so food is ready to go
Water: About 20 oz so far (it's early)
Exercise: 1 hour video, will do a 30 minute walk this evening
    Steps: 11394 so far

Really trying to get into a normal routine now that school has started for both me and my daughter. I'm up at 5 am to get my workout in. Dropped the kiddo off at school, cleaned the kitchen, on my 3rd load of laundry, just sat down with a cup of coffee, have over 11000 steps so far today and it's only 9:30 am. Sheesh. These make for some long days- but you gotta do what you gotta do! Now I'm sitting down to a bunch of school work. It's going to be a rough semester! haha 5 classes, 14 books between them...and I just want to take a nap! lol

I can't complain though. I'm lucky I'm able to be in school, I'm lucky I have a beautiful house to clean, and I'm lucky I have a family whose clothes I get to wash. It's all in how you look at it.

@sleepymom5 I think I've been drinking around 50, maybe 60 oz a day now-which for me, isn't as much as I need to drink. When I first started eating better and exercising, I was drinking a gallon a day and I could finish that by 5 pm. It's honestly just me being lazy with it. I need to just get my butt in gear!

@Mrsbell8well That's actually a great idea! Maybe if I set reminders on my phone or computer, it will make me more conscious of what I'm doing (or not doing!).
