I walked 'briskly' outside for the first time yesterday.
Some of my new NSVs will seem kind of lame to a lot of people but I have been held back for a long time so I will celebrate them no matter how mundane they are.
It's all relative to your situation, celebrate away they're all important.1 -

Ok, @NovusDies inspired me to share a NSV that may seem kinda lame to others but, well, here goes!
In the spring I packed our trailer with some clothes I planned to use for camping. The pair of jeans I packed was the "comfortable" elastic waist style, no belt loops. So, there I am, in July, pulling them on one morning ready to go walk the dogs and my husband watches us head out. When we return he smiles and said, "You were quite the sight, walking three dogs and hitching up your pants because they were falling down!".
Now we are putting the trailer to bed for the winter and those old elastic waist jeans are heading out as a donation!

Maybe I am super lame because I thought that NSV was pretty great.
I have used my belly as a phone prop for years. Now that the excess skin is removed I place it out of habit and it slides down to my now visible lap. TOP THAT!7 -

and now I need a lame name, since "super lame" is claimed I'll go for: "Ultra Lame"!

I drove for the first time today since the surgery. I have 2 NSVs
1) I adjusted my seat forward a couple of notches.
2) I wanted to see how far the steering wheel was from my belly but when my hand traced the familiar path it hit my seat not my belly.
These are NSVs that I could have had a long time ago but the excess skin deprived me of them.7 -
I had to move down to my last belt notch today, pretty soon will either have to.punch a new hole in the belt or go buy a smaller one.7

I just crossed my legs today!
I mentioned this upthread but I felt pretty alone during most of my journey. This group and having so many people talk about things like booths which was also a huge NSV for me has been really nice.8 -
I bought some walking compression tights from the Nike online store. Risked it and got XL. They arrived yesterday and they fit! I had thought I'd probably have to put them aside for a couple of months so I'm super excited to be able to pull them on. I was 3XL when I started.5

I was wondering why the 2xl compression socks I ordered were so uncomfortably tight when the xl fit okay. Turns out I have been wearing women's. They did make my calves look nice...7 -
Yesterday morning I was out of clean pants. On a whim, I tried on a pair of khakis that hadn't fit last time attempted it -- and they fit. 50, but a regular fit, not "relaxed" like the 50/48 jeans I've been wearing for a while. This morning I tried on another pair, 48 "relaxed" khakis, and those fit nicely as well.
That puts me down 5 sizes of pants (started at 58) and 2 sizes of shirts (from 4xl -> 2xl). I wear my pants over my stomach and carry a lot of my weight around my middle, so that's the limiting area for most clothes, heh.8 -
@merph518 What a GREAT NSV!!!! You have me smiling from ear to ear as I envision your accomplishment of rocking yet a smaller pant size.1

Now for a more serious NSV and this one is HUGE for me...
I no longer purposefully avoid seeing my full self in the mirror. I am still obese but all that I have had to do for the last 19 months is finally showing up in an appreciable manner.
In related news...
I also had a picture of myself taken last Friday night that was not a progress picture but one that I have added to my normal pictures folder. It was the first picture I have been willing to take in a very very long time.11 -
@NovusDies That is a fantastic NSV ! After I reached a certain age, one of the first things I learned and focused on was to love myself. You should look in the mirror everyday and say positive things about yourself. Be proud of how far you have come. I have a long way to go with my weight, but I'm trying to feel positive now and not wait until I lose weight. Congrats on your accomplishments.!4
