Welcome
CHALLENGERS
This chat room is where the CHALLENGERS on this team meet. Here is where you weigh in every week, post your goals and progress, discuss any issues or topics of interest, share ideas, support your teammates, receive help when you need it, and dream big. Cheer each other on to success!
We are beginning the JANUARY CHALLENGE - Our group moderators and leaders for the challenge are :
Liselyn - @jugar
Beka - @beka3695
HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Each week, every challenger weighs in, and the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captain here on your team chat page.
In addition to weight loss, there are F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. We have different kinds of challenges. NONE is mandatory. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, though, so we hope to see you there often!
Good Luck Teams: Please let us know if there is anything wrong or if you notice something that needs to be fixed or modified.
Let’s make our new challengers feel welcome and show them some F2F love!! Introduce yourselves, and let the new month begin.
THANKS! YOUR MODS

Welcome to the F2F challenge for
Our Shrinking Assets Team Captains:
*Team Shrinking Assets - @Boehle and @beka3695
Our Motivator is:
*Team Shrinking Assets - @TheMrWobbly (Fitness Captain)
We all know how it goes;
31st December “Joined a gym, signed up on MFP bought a year’s supply of meal shakes, ready to roll”
31st January “Well it was awfully cold, I’ll be back in the gym in Feb, and can one or two burgers a week really hurt”
29th February “I’m not losing weight, I’ve been to the gym four times and McDonalds nine but I had diet sodas, this clearly doesn’t work”
In my humble opinion this group really makes a difference to your chances of success. I had been on MFP inconsistently for 4 years without success until I joined this group and started to post regularly and make a contribution. I lost 4 stone in 7 months in 2019 after joining this group. You are part of a team and you will get out of it as much as you put into it. Let’s make this happen together in 2020!6 -

Good morning. I found this on a FB group.

Hi everyone! January is here! I’m excited to have a few more days of vacation and then going back to work on the 7th.
Tomorrow will be my first weigh-in day of the new decade, I hope the sodium and alcohol bloat from New Year’s celebrations will be out of my system by then. Tomorrow will also be the first day at the new gym - it literally opened today for the first time ever, so I’m kinda excited to see how it turned out and how working out there will be like.
I feel like I’m stuck in a little rut, so I want to spend my last days of vacation decluttering physically and mentally to help me move on.
How did everyone celebrate New Year? I went to a friend’s summer house (yes, in the middle of winter) with a group of friends, had a good time and reached my goal of not having a hangover on January 1st.3 -
What is this???
It is the difference between this:
And this:
The logic:
Doughnut calories estimated at 350
3500 calories in a pound
The doughnut is 1/10 of a pound....7 -

I thought for sure that was your 5k reward until I scrolled down further- ha ha! I set myself some goals with another group (no offense) for extra motivation..
1. This January I will: bump up the length and intensity of my workouts- without injury.
2. The small actions I’ll be taking to accomplish this goal: adding 15 minutes and more hills on my walks, complete at least 3 online cardio/weights workouts a week
3. The trigger or cue to remember to do my habit: put them on my calendar and assess weekly
4. How often will you do your new habit: daily
5. What reward will you immediately give yourself for doing your habit? Big ol' smiley face on calendar!
6. What help do you need from us? kudos and/or rebukes encouraged
7. What does success look like to you at the end of January? no sidelining injuries and getting more fit (losing a few pounds would also be amazing)
Feel free to list your own or look more like that donut at the end of the month........at least the sprinkles are pretty! If I had an Apple watch I'd join in the fun suggested by Mr Wobbly. Boo hoo.1 -

Sorry to join your team prematurely, Mr Wobbly. I don't have an Apple watch, or at least not yet. I did get out of the challenge successfully- I think. Ah, technology makes me look like a fool again. Not the first or last time..cheers!1 -

No problem on the Apple watch challenge @SheilaCali and we now have a amazing team of, erm... 1.
Congrats on your 1st goal @hipari though I'm not sure if you didn't indulge as much or your recovery powers are increasing with training?
Nice workout for your first day @boehle
First goal ticked off my list yesterday. A 10k at more than 6 mph (just). For those who think it can't be done I started C2K in July when I couldn't run across the road - these things are achievable, I am not special, I am determined.

Here I am again guys and I did weigh in yesterday, I got distracted and sorry I am late!!!
KittyInBoots17:
PW: 216.2
CW: 219
I have to say I was really happy with it! I honestly expected like 225 or something!

I am posting this separate so it doesn't get confused with my weigh in. I took a look at the last year and wow, last year at this time I was 207.4... my lowest was 204.8 around Jan 21. After that it was up and down but mostly up - so I've gained like 15-ish lbs last year which is pretty bad, and completely not what I wanted. I think I just restricted for so long before that I got tired of it. I've been here since 2015. There's one thing I've really learned here is to not restrict to the point of almost self punishment. I spent a whole year and more trying to regain the motivation to lose weight again.
I want to apologize for my lack of inactivity with the group and MFP in general. It was, quite honestly, because I knew the holidays would make me regain, and I just didn't want to spend the time or effort losing pounds I knew I would just get back. I felt if I participated in challenges I would undo the accomplishments. I apologize for the negativity but it is the truth. Thank you for your kindness and patience and tolerating me here. I REALLY appreciate you guys more than you know.
So my New Year's "Resolutions" are:
1. Count the calories!!!
2. Weigh in once a week!
3. Be more active with MFP and the group!
Best wishes for success this year!!!

Hi everyone!
I am really looking forward to taking control of my weight loss again!
I started at 275lbs in December 2017 and lost 75lbs over 2 years. I gained 26lbs back in the last 6 months so I now have 100lbs to lose!
My January start weight is 224lbs.
Cant wait for my first weigh in!4 -

Most of you read on our December thread that we will be forming a new team.
Our very on @lindamtuck2018 has agreed to be the Captain of this new team.
Everyone please reach out and congratulate Linda. She will be missed on this team, but we can visit her anytime on the Downsizers thread.
Thank you, Linda!!!6 -
Congrats to linda! Best of luck with the new team!!!0
-
Congrats, Linda! I appreciate your contributions here and wish you the best with the new team!0
-
Yay @lindamtuck2018 well done you! Going to miss hearing how you and Molly are getting on, though.
Back home, unpacked half cleaned up and now enjoying a pizza and wine evening. Will face the scales in the morning and then think about my plan of attack for the days, months and year ahead!
Looking forward to be being back and active in here 🙂1 -
So, the funniest thing just happened today... my husband has been kinda gaining motivation, so today he apparently needed to announce it to the world by letting my mother know we can’t come to dinner because we’re busy going to the gym and losing weight. Yes, I read about his newfound dedication in the family group chat. He’s still in the ”it’s a project that will have a start day” phase though, but he agreed that on Monday he will join MFP and I’ll help him set up.
I had my first workout in the new gym today, and I killed it! My legs are already feeling the soreness, which is odd since usually I don’t feel it until the next day. I even got new PRs on several different machines/exercises, but I feel like they don’t count since it’s a different gym and different machines.2 -
TIME FOR JANUARY INTRODUCTIONS
I am Beka, one of your Team Captains and Group Moderator. My counterpart is Julie, aka @boehle.
I am 43, married, mom of 2 daughters and 3 fur babies. My first grandchild will be here next month!!! I can hardly believe it!!
I live in the beautiful mountains of Northern Georgia. FEEL FREE TO READ MY POSTS WITH A SOUTHERN ACCENT.
I started my journey 2 years ago at 242 lbs, lost down to 174 and maintained almost 9 months before gaining back to 232 in July. I did a complete reset as of August 1… Cleared my +1000 day streak and started over. It has been VERY liberating! I feel like I am restarting again. I have a new found motivation and it is so exciting!!!
My MOE is CICO. I cannot stick with anything else. Keto sounds good to me, but so does bread.
My Stats:
5'7' and 43
230 ish lbs
January Goals:
-be the best Captain/Mod I can be!
-be GREEN for the ENTIRE month.
-be available for my teammates!
If you have not already, feel free to friend me. Please make your diaries open. Your teammates (umm - or me) might want to borrow your ideas that keep you in check.8 -
Hello! So happy to be here!
I'm Jen, 50 years young, three amazing adult children and two adorable grand babies. I have two silly rescued pit bulls and volunteer with several rescues in the area. I love all animals and nature. My kids call me a hippy dippy lol.
I started running in 2010 and bought a road bike in 2012. In 2017, an accident sidelined all exercise for me. It took quite a while to recover but I am finally 100 percent again!
Looking forward to making this journey with you all! I have about 75 pounds to lose. Let's make this year wonderfully successful!3 -
Hi everyone!
I’m 28, and 2019 was a year of big change: I graduated from law school and transitioned to a full time job, got married and we bought our own apartment. The apartment building is currently under construction and the estimated move-in date is in December 2020. I live in Finland, anyone else non-American on this team?
I’m 5’8” (173 cm) and my current weight is 218.5lbs (99.1kg). I have 44lbs (20kg) to lose before re-evaluating my goals, so I have some work to do this year. Hoping to lose 0.6-1.1lbs (0.3-0.5kg) per week.3 -

Man that makes me crazy. Lol. I stayed in my calorie goal all last week. Must be the salt that did me in. It will come off - I have a love/hate relationship with my scale 🤔5 -
What do y’all think of the new logo??
We are very excited to have a fresher look. We are still tweaking the sizing, but think it already looks better!!!!6 -
I’m so excited to be back and I’m ready to work on getting back on the horse after the holidays.
I got a new scale so I’m not sure how much actual weight I gained, but I do weigh daily and as long as I wear on the same scale the number doesn’t really matter, more about the general trend.
current weight 132.53 -

I don't have an apple watch but if any fitbit users want to make a shrinking assets steps challenge group I'm up for that!2 -
I'm game for a step challenge if I can dig out my Fitbit. It's been buried somewhere in the house move.
I need to increase my steps, I work at a desk for 8 hours and commute 2 hours a day. At lunch I have to study so I don't get an lot of free time. Hoping to get some steps in after the kids go to bed!2 -
OK, Kate Kilobykilo is back, watch out as I spam the thread with a few posts!
Well done on the 10K @TheMrWobbly I'm actually excited about getting back out and running this weekend, I guess that must mean it is time!
@boehle is the idea you print off the image and colour in each day? Or is it to track if your goals are met or not by only colouring in those days? I like it!
@hipari hello! I'm with you on using the beginning of the year to declutter both mentally and physically, how are you getting on?
Great work at the gym and fab you've got your husband on board, too!
@Beka3695 I'm officially ignoring the doughnut post just now as I may have just finished an open bag of chocolate with my morning coffee...... whoops!
@SheilaCali wow to the goals, you're hitting the month hard, nice one!
I like the last question: January will have been successful for me if I've been here in the group everyday and logged in the app. And if I've hit 10k steps each day and spent less time on my sofa. And of course, if I'm a few pound down. Simple then 🙄🙂
@iamworthy14 I read your post and got a bit scared..... if I stay on track which like you I hope to, I'll also be living life at maintenance by the end of the year. Exciting but scary! Good luck!
@KittyInBoots17 great resolutions. Your words on restrictions resonant strongly with me and stopping that cycle is something I'm determined to achieve this year.
@CatherineElizabeth13 welcome! When's your first weigh in? I hope this is a great year for you and look forward to sharing your journey.3 -
@bigblues11 hello! You're making me so dog broody right now great that your health is back and you're ready to get back on the bike and run. I'm a runner in training and hope to have a great year with it in 2020!
@hipari congratulations on a great year in 2019 and yay to the new apartment in the making! I'm a Brit living in Portugal and am now used to waking up to a pile of posts from our north American team mates waiting, I MFP over breakfast there are a few others from around the world in the group, too.
@CharlesScott78 keep your eye on the big picture, you're doing really well overall
@beka3695 love it! It's really clean and clear
@171lake hello! Enjoy being back on the horse and yeah, inwoildnt worry too much about the scale change.2 -
My introduction, I'm Kate, 34 from the UK living in Portugal and, as you will see above not capable of responding to all posts in one go if they straddle two pages so I spam instead, sorry!
I've been on MFP on and off for years but joined this group in the middle of last year and love it!
I was a bit overweight as a teen and then got fat as a uni student which wasnt helped by moving to Asia for ten years and living a sedentary life. I love food, I love fatty food, so I need need to be burning cals to allow me to also enjoy the foods i need to keep me sane!
I was about 220lb when I arrived in portugal in August 2016 and slowly lost despite too much wine and eating out and was 202lb at the beginning of 2019 when I really started to focus on my weight again. I got down to 174 in july and ended the year at 184.
I think my goal weight is probably 160ish... but I've no idea what low weight will suit me!
I started learning to run last year and did my first 10km in November. I had to compete it in walk/jog intervals but was so proud of finishing it in around 70 minutes. My next 10km is in april and my only goal is to jog the whole way.
As for food, I'm a calorie counter and must get back to logging every day. This year I'm aiming on not restricting to avoid the need to over eat at the weekends and to see if I can make binging a thing of the past....
Looking forward to sharing 2020 with you guys!2
