I was sick with a cold all weekend and had to take my husband for his colonoscopy today. I have mine scheduled for Thursday. Hoping I don’t have to reschedule because it took 3 months to get this appointment. Between the broken toe, sore throat and possible colonoscopy, no exercise for me. Really depressing, the exercise helps me cope with my parents. Looking at the positive side... being sick and prepping for a colonoscopy... I should loose weight this week!
@Cafelelia I love the hockey story! My son played baseball and many of his friends are collegiate athletes. So my husband and I get excited when we see an aspiring athlete get an opportunity like that and excel. So fun to watch in any sport! Being from California I have not been that knowledgeable about Hockey but now that our son goes to UMASS Amherst we watch college hockey. The frozen 4 got us into it last year.4 -

Week 4?
PW: 153.0
CW: 152.63 -
Check in: Monday
Food: Pre-Logged but was overly hungry so had an afternoon snack of a handful of cashews, hard boiled egg and 1 mandarin. Otherwise, on track
Water: Good, lost track
Exercise & steps: 90 minute yoga class; 6,251 steps
Good day yesterday. We got a little snow Sunday night but not enough to prevent me from getting out to my yoga class. Came home then took Gauge to the vet for his laser therapy. Made butternut squash ravioli (not homemade LOL) with homemade cauliflower alfredo sauce... so yummy. I lost track of how much water I drank but I'm mindful to up it on yoga days. I even remembered to set my IF app last night. There are definitely ebbs and flows in my level of motivation but feeling pretty good right now and ready to power through these next 8 - 10 pounds to reach goal. The mild weather and sunshine probably helps.
Nowhere I have to be today for the first time in a while. Waiting for my fast to end so I think I'll do my JessicaSmithTV strength training video before eating and may take the dogs for a walk later depending on how Gauge feels.
Today is going to be a rest and recharge day. Have a great Tuesday everyone!3 -
Monday check in
Happy Mardi Gras!! My food and water were on plan. I was also able to do the exercise bike for 35 minutes and a 15 HIIT program. It was a good day for my goals. A bunch of unexpected things came up, but I worked hard mentally to not let that stop me from staying on track. Just went for a run this morning and it was pretty good. On days where I am driving for hockey like today, I chug a bunch of water at breakfast to get the water in my system early. But I had to cut my run short by .5 km because I needed the restroom!
@nstephenson01 - Great day yesterday! You are really close to goal and you can do it!!
@phoebe112476 - Nice loss!!
@JillyBT - Nice loss and so sorry that you were sick! Yup, the colonoscopy prepping is not fun, but you will like lose some weight. I find that exercise really helps with my mood and it was really tough not running much for a year. I have never been a chocolate person, but when I couldn’t run, I needed a square of dark chocolate a lot of days. It was one way to replace the endorphins from the runner’s high! You will get back to exercise soon, don’t worry. College hockey is a lot of fun! Even my 13 year old’s league is quite exciting to watch as the games are so fast, almost like the pros!
@brown6267 - Great steps this week so far!
@hope002 - Fantastic workout pics and I love your home gym! Your lifting is impressive!! I entered your CW on the spreadsheet for this week and have a great vacation!!
@CassieGetsFit2013 - Hope that you get your BP sorted soon. I am not a doctor, but have read up a bit on vaping thanks to my kids and their lessons in health class. The issue with vaping is not necessarily cancer, but lung issues. Apparently, some medical research shows the oils from the vaping fluids are inhaled into the lungs, clog them over time and cannot be removed. This is any kind of vaping fluid and not nicotine. This is why there have been the news stories about some young adults who vape are developing lung conditions normally seen in the elderly. More testing needs to be done, but this is why the general advice is out there not to vape, to do further medical testing, and also to further regulate vapes. It is absolutely your choice, but I suggest you do some research and speak to your doctor first. Your doctor can also advise you on other ways to help your anxiety.
@starcrystal3 - Nice maintain!
@rundgrenrocks - I. have a Polish hubby too! Both Pam and I talk about the hunger scale, which is an idea from Corinne Crabtree’s Phit N Phat website and podcasts (she has a paid membership, but free podcasts, a free course and other free info). The idea is that you eat according to your hunger, stopping when you are just full and not overly full. You still focus on eating healthy and decide what it is you eat. That is it in a nutshell, and there is more involved stuff on it in the PNP podcasts. The concept behind it to listen to your body’s needs. Since my return to running and more intense exercise, I am following the hunger scale more and calorie counting less, as my needs fluctuate depending upon what I do in a day.
@sleepymom5 - Hope that you get some rest today!!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - That is muscle building going on and you have the exact right attitude about everything! Great (and comical) NSV about your exercise pants falling off!
@tryingagaing5 - Hope that you do get that job and your sleep apnea sorted out too.
@jedashcultz - Makes sense that you would gain after that retreat. So great that you had a weekend away with the girls though!
@pacsnc6 - I totally get it about the cold and exercise. It’s why like running, because I warm up so quickly even on a cold day. Hope that the weigh in is good this week!
@mrsbell8well - Such a sweet chart!! You will get to goal!

Just wanted to check in with you all. Hope everyone is having a great day!!
@rundgrenrocks I really think it is important that we have balance. I like that you had the treat but actually enjoyed it. I tend to gobble and then its gone before I even got a chance to enjoy it. I remember a year or so back you went on vacation with your family. I want to say a cabin or something wintery. You were saying how you enjoyed mostly everything the others had but you portioned it out and savored everything. That is what I am working towards. BTW- I have so many questions for you lol! What are wall walks? Also you have mentioned that you are focusing on exercises that help you..I knew I wasn't going to be able to phrase it like you did. In real life, like getting up off the floor. I am actually interested in that too. Do you have a web site you use? I also have to work on getting up from a chair. I can get up with no problem but with the hip issue, I didn't realize how much I was using my arms to push up. I can tell my legs need to more strength. Also, I am not sure with eating to scale, I know I use on track just if I am where I should be with my food plan.
@starcrystal3 Not a bad weigh in, hope all is well.
@CassieGetsFit2013 Hope you get some answers at the psychiatrist today.
@hope002 Have fun on your vacation! We will use this weight for next week. Another question, what is the red piece of equipment you have there. It is like a big open box. Lol! I know at the trainer we would hang off of it and do these leg pull up things for abs. I actually liked doing them because I didn't get dizzy. I would love to get one for my basement but don't know what it is called or even if it would fit.
@brown6267 Fab!!
@JillyBT Oh no! Hope you are feeling better soon. Colonoscopies are no fun but at least you will get it over with. I know you like your exercise but focus on your health and getting through the week. Hugs!
@phoebe112476 Another good weigh in!
@nstephenson01 Sounds like you had a great day yesterday! Enjoy your rest and recharge day, we all need those!
@Cafelelia I meant to also mention to you that I had heard on one of the podcasts that you should plan that what your drinking is leaving you in about an hour. I am not sure if that is necessarily true but may help you plan around your schedule. That is the biggest issue for me with drinking lol!1 -

@Cafelelia I wish it was muscle going on but sadly it doesn't work that way. Apart from "newbie gains" (which I am not) muscle is incredibly hard to build. It takes months of dedicated exercise as well as eating at a calorie surplus to build muscle. The body can't build muscle from nothing. And even after months of heavy lifting and eating surplus, the scale might move a half pound. Shape will change as fat shreds and muscle becomes more visible, but the point of weight lifting or working muscles while eating a deficit is to prevent the body cannibalizing muscle for energy along with the fat. I lifted a lot when I was a Personal Trainer and my muscles got very visible, but that was through fat loss.0

@sleepymom5 Pam, Legs Up The Wall is just a yoga pose that stretches the back. I had stopped doing it when we got wood floors last year but I had a duh moment the other day that I could unroll a yoga mat to lie on! It’s easy but hard to describe — I think if you google it you’ll see a picture. It kills for a minute or two and then feels great.
This month I focused on squatting, and making extra trips up and down the stairs. Not from a website or anything, just from thinking what I’d like to get better at doing, exactly like you realizing you need more leg strength. I literally want to move to a one story house because I hate going down stairs so much—probably because I fell down stairs and broke my leg ten years ago, and I worry about doing it again sometimes. Since hubby is not interested in moving, I’m trying to have a better attitude about staying here and stairs are just part of life in this house. The squatting helps me with things like feeding the dogs—I’m trying to squat instead of bending over sometimes.2 -

Well, my BP was 138/98 earlier today, I had to go walk someone's doggy and when I left the house, I had a headache, both my arms were in pain and my knees were weak and ached bad. I went to my Psych. At 3pm, my BP there was 168/108...I had the same symptoms as I did earlier, but they felt worse...(Also, been sleep deprived because I've now been awake for 30 hours. Really going to try and get to sleep earlier tonight, but afraid I will bave hallucinations or something because last time this happened, I did, hopefully that won't happen though.) My Dr. Doesn't want to put me on any BP meds right now and my Psych won't put me on anything for anxiety...So I'm thinking I am just going to try vaping the CBD. I've been doing a lot of research and I have read some lretty scary things, but also some good things. I spoke to one of the Psychs about it today, but not mine and he said he couldn't say yes, do it, but he also said he couldn't tell me not to do it cause it isn't FDA approved and he said it could help, but be cautious cause it could also cause problems...So guess it's just up to me then. I'm hoping it will help with my BP and anxiety since neither one of them wants to give me advice or medication. *Sigh*
My Clinician said some hurtful things to me today. As soon as I got home, I cried and cried...I am just a very, overly emotional and sensitive person and I don't know HOW to toughen up...I've been this way pretty much since childhood. My Mom is also emotional and sensitive. I can never talk to her in person cause anytime I try and tell her something, sometimes she fusses or seems like she is judging me and then I feel bad, so I've started keeping more to myself and just not sharing with her and then when I want to share something with her, I do it with Snapchat cause that's where we message each other. So, after I got done with a the crying, I went ahead and opened up and told her how she made me feel today and other times...I am VERY nervous as to what she is going to say and how she's going to react, but I just had to tell her how she made me feel, was that thw beat idea? Should I have just left it alone and not have aaid anything? I hope I did the right thing and I hope she doesn't get super mad at me. 🥺 I'm so worried about it!
I've also had no appetite lately, I told my Dr. This and she said if I am the same in a week or two to come back to her. So I will see how it goes. I think my tests with the pap smear came back and everything is normal, but I sent her a message asking her how come I am havinf problems if everything is normal? I am getting strong urges to go, then when I sit on the toilet, I have to wait 5 minutes or more...Then when I finally start to pee, it's a weak flow and not much urine...So I am confused if the tests are normal, but this is going on. Guess I will wait for her response and see what she thinks about it.
This is a LONG response! Lol. Sorry! Had to get a lot out, hope you don't mind...

I'm so sorry to be missing in action. We had a death, my youngest uncle, and my mother has been accepted to the nursing home five-plus hours from me but right near my sister. She's blind, mostly deaf, and an amputee, so transportation is important. We're really engrossed in this and I have to say, I rarely do it, but I've been eating late at night. I'd say it's emotional eating. It is circumstantial and hopefully temporary.
What stress. Big sigh. This will not be the situation forever.

Another good day! I am struggling with urges but think of the ball in the sand and not reinforcing bad habits and I have been able to keep them at bay. How is everyone else doing? Am I the only one who can't believe it is going to be March soon?
@rundgrenrocks Thank you, I am going to try that yoga pose. I am trying with stairs and squats but I haven't squatted down when I am doing things. Maybe I should try that too. I just know I am going to have a hard time...more of a reason to do it if I want to be able to do these things again.
@CassieGetsFit2013 I am sorry to hear you are going through so much. I hope you get some answers.
@1theresamcvean That is a lot to have going on. Hugs! Hope that things get better soon. We miss you. You did miss week 3 weigh in, would you like to change your weigh in day to Tuesday or would you like to stay weighing in on Friday?2 -

Gonna give TOM credit for the gain, but yesterday was also Mardi Gras.
We're giving up alcohol and sugar for Lent and also trying to walk 3x a week together.
The sugar part will be difficult for me because I love flavored creamer in my coffee. Just bought some chai tea, and I'm going to make a coconut and cinnamon sweetener as well.
Hope everyone gets over the midweek hump!4 -

Ok - so this is the first I have weighed myself in 3 weeks. Not surprised by the increase (little surprised I did not break the 200lb mark).
Sorry I have been away so long. I have totally had my head in the sand the past few weeks, with my weight/diet really not being a focus at all.
Past 6 weeks have been awful, but life now is starting to get back to normal (well normal as in going to work, house chore, getting kids to clubs and not planning funeral or sorting out any of the other bits that goes with the death of a loved one - the grief and sadness however is still here).
On the positive front, I have kept up with the quit smoking. 26 days now of not smoking - has been easier than other attempts, and I really believe that this is my last attempt to quit and that I am now a non-smoker.
What with all the above, healthy eating has gone completely out of the window (as you can tell by my gain!). Now is my time to get focussed back on getting this under control. I have done a good healthy food shop and have planned the meals for the rest of the week and have today started tracking again. I have been feeling so hungry recently (stress or maybe lack of nicotine), that I plan on doing this in baby steps. Healthier choices and logging initially.
One of my main issues at the moment is that I am not sleeping properly - I sleep for about an hour then awake for 2 hours, and this is repeated a few times during the night. I have got into the habit of eating during these times of waking (as I feel constantly hungry), so this is one of the first things I need to try stopping!
I shall be back later to catch up on some posts and find out how you are all doing.
Take care x7 -
Tuesday check in
Really busy day yesterday and more unexpected stuff, but I did well with eating, followed my plan & hunger scale, had 2.4 litres of water and went for a run (cut short .5 km by the water!). I am focusing sticking to these daily goals not matter what comes up in the day. I am very happy that the 64 oz plus of daily water is on its way to becoming a new habit. I have always found it so challenging. My leg is feeling good and I signed up for a 5 km race in early June. I can run 5 km now, but slowly and with breaks. I hope to be a little faster by June and my training is set to be very gradual. I can always walk the race, but my goal is to have fun and finish, with no particular pace targetted. It has been a while since I had a race to look forward to, so I am excited!
@freeglerock - We are so happy that you are back! I am so sorry about your brother and the tough time that you have been going through. This journey is not linear for most of us and we are here to support you! If you are having a tough moment or day, you can share here as much as you are comfortable. Very impressive that you have stopped smoking! Welcome back and big hug!
@brown6267 - Great steps!
GingerPwr - Ugh, TOM. You have been doing great through this month and stay the course! Very impressive that you are giving up both alcohol and sugar for Lent. For lent, I am going to set aside 10 minutes per day for a prayer/meditation. I have a little yoga space in my home office and my intention is to go there each for 10 minutes, regardless of how busy it gets.
@amsandos - Just a little gain. Hope you enjoyed the pancakes though!
@sleepymom5 - Great day yesterday and yes, I also cannot believe it is almost March! I love that furry scale btw & want to get one!
@1theresamcvean - Good to hear form you! It is very good that you mother got into a nursing home and it must have been so difficult for her and everyone with all of her health issues. I understand that the home is further from you, but at least it is close to your sister. Totally understand the late night eating during this stressful time. We are here for you. When you have that urge to eat at night, feel free to post here before, during or after you do it, if you are comfortable doing so. It can help to talk about it and many of us have been (or are) there. Sending a big hug to you!
@CassieGetsFit2013 - Keep up your research and inquiries with your doctor and counsellor. It is tough, but try to advocate for yourself as best as possible and speaking to your family can help to. I really hope that you can get this all sorted soon.
@rundgrenrocks - Thanks for the yoga tip! I am focusing on squats this month too!
@xX_PhoenixRising_Xx - I saw some more impressive numbers on your feed with your cycling, congrats!

Daily Check In: Tuesday
Food: pre-logged, ate as planned
Water: Good
Exercise & steps: JessicaSmithTV 30 minute strength training circuits; 6,266 steps
Good day with food and water. Spent a few minutes shoveling some snow I didn't get to on Monday. Caught up on a couple GH episodes. Feeling good but should not have stepped on the scale this morning as I'm up over 1 pound from yesterday. I know it can be any number of things besides my eating but it took the wind out of my sails. Tomorrow is weigh in day so I'll just have to wait and see. Food for today is pre-logged. My neighbor asked if I could drive her to a doctor's appt on Thursday... I suspect that will take up a large portion of my day. Oh well... so I need to get a few things done today.3
