Does anyone do more routine baking now than they did before? (not counting Dec Holiday baking if that is a once-a-year tradition in your house) or a category of baking that they didn't used to? will you be keeping it up?
I hauled out the breadmaker machine early on - and have been alternating between white and whole-wheat loaves every few days ever since. I will need to break open the still-sealed bigger yeast package (all the bulk food store had available) for the next loaf.....
Anyone tried / had success with sourdough bread? No yeast required and I hear it is pretty yummy tooo. (but don't know if it works in a breadmaker or not)1 -

I remember you saying something earlier on about "cozy mysteries set in English countryside / village type locale" What author(s)? any part of a series?
Have you read any of the Georgette Heyer "current at time of writing" mysteries? (set mostly in the 1930s - the last two are postwar)
My fav is "Envious Casca" - set J U S T pre-WW2 in Hampshire over Christmas.2 -
Gosh, I love this platform! It's like Facebook once was, with pictures of food and pets, landscapes, AND people help you lose weight, eat healthily, go out and exercise!
Not baking, no! I'd eat it! Too much of it! Freshly baked, with butter! Stop! I am trying to stick to low carb food, yummy vegetables, salads! Love breads too much! That's part of how I put on the weight, bread, butter and cheese! Pasta is no good either, so please no one give me great pasta recipes! I grew up in a country where bread is an absolute staple. I am trying to stop this. France likes its bread, but basically only a few slices at a time, I can cope with this.4 -
I totally emphasize with you Chinkiri! I'm more able to bake and stick to my wellness goals if I have recipients for my baked goods and/or personally uninterested in the baked good like snickerdoodles are my nephews favorite which is so unappealing to me. So yes coach, regular baking every other week. I'm not a huge fan of bread though more of afan of baked sweets or savory ones. The struggle is real.2

@BMcC9 Have been binge reading Kate Ellis and Wesley Patterson books, all set in Devon, with an archeological background. Join me on Goodreads! Used to love Georgette Heyer, but not read her for many years. Will have a look!
What are some of your fav GH historicals? for suspense, I like both "The Tollgate" and "The Talisman Ring" (I ALWAYS hear/imagine "Sally" (the novel has 2 couples out to clear the younger-male's name so that he can then marry the younger-female / Sally is the mature-female lead) as a young Diana Rigg playing Mrs Peel voice in period dress whenever I re-re-re-re-read this one)
For 'novels of personality'. my top two are "Frederica" and "Venitia".
I will look up the two authors you mention, and also see if I can find you on Goodreads (or do I just look for the authors? ) Devon is right next door to Cornwall (which I LOVED visiting last year) and a archeological background is quite appealing - those two counties are "King Arthur country"
Right now I am listening to Book 7 of the Andy Carpenter (NJ lawyer) series by David Rosenthall. If you only ever read one of the 19 or so, read #6 "Play Dead". It's the one that got me hooked! And if you get a chance to listen to it, listen to Grover Gardner reading it. PERFECT!

Sound delicious! Ever had Louisiana bread pudding? I don't like bread pudding but wow, LOVE their's especially at Mother's restaurant...1 -

- I am grateful to have woken up to another beautiful day, birds chirping, gorgeous orangey-pinky light, smell of fresh grass, no idea why or how as we are in a city
- I am grateful for my life! It's pretty good!

Wednesday the 27:
I am grateful for my health, my husband and that I have had no loss of income. I am grateful for the physical ability to be able to do the new aspects of my job for more than a few hours at a time.
The spoiler is a list of the ongoing crap we are dealing with at the house, so read at your own risk...At home we are going through a rough patch. Our floors were ordered three weeks ago and still no word. We have contacted the contractor (who won't return calls) and the insurance company who issued the checks that we signed over to the contractor and are still waiting. Also, when the moved my year old bed to get the flooring out from under it? They didn't lift. They dragged, thus effectively breaking off two of the legs on the frame, as well as taking out the floor register. Found this out two weeks ago when I started to paint and had to move the bed. Lift, then clack, clack when the legs fell out.
We drained our inground fiberglass pool to pressure wash and see if we could spruce the interior up, as we had some metal stains. Got 3/4 done, then the rain came for several days. Re-pumped out the pool Sunday and found a fairly good sized crack in the bottom toward the deep end. Pool repair people in the area are months out because of new installations, so there is a gentleman coming from a fiberglass repair company Saturday to see if he can repair it.
My convertible is still in the shop, so we have one vehicle (his truck) between us. They've had it over a month and I'm less than impressed with that kind of turnaround time.
Now we have a tropical system headed toward us and I really don't think my raggedy privacy fence can take any more wind. It needs to be replaced, but again, contractors are really hard to nail down. They come to give you an estimate, they leave and you never hear from them again. We've been trying since April to get this fence replaced.
If any of you have seen Shrek? Then, "I'm a donkey on the edge" will make sense. Every time I get a grip on just one more thing, something ELSE pops up.
I am regularly meditating, and in touch with my therapist, and I have made an effort to mind my thought processes, as I'm of the belief that we can absolutely manifest what we dwell on.
My luck has never been what you'd call the best, but damn! Since that water heater blew in January? It's gone downhill from there. I haven't had "normal" in my house since January 24.5 -

Thankful we are nearing the end of the second week of go live. It has not been pleasant. I have so much work to catch up with I will have to work another weekend, but at least that light is getting brighter. My team has been great and all have pulled together to get tasks done. Management has also been supportive (within my division). The rest......will not admit mistakes, but have been finally making us a priority. Again, all of this could have been avoided if minds were open for the past three years......but again, spilled milk. I can say it's great our division pulls together when needed and gets the job done.
I hope everyone has a great day/evening/afternoon. I cannot believe May is almost over - where the heck has the time gone?2 -

so long as you PLAN AROUND including it .... low carb is low sugary, but not 100% FREE either. I hope BOTH your DH and you each had one one of the missing ones (not you having both)

lol not missing any.. Actually, recipe says it makes 6 servings but it made 7 for me... I did have to exercise a bit more to fit it in because recipe quotes a lower calorie total than mfp calculations.3 -

Late, because I had to sort out various problems first thing this morning. They are all to do with my partner and I can now say that I am so grateful there is nothing wrong with my brain or my memory.
I am grateful I am in a position to help him, even though I often feel powerless against the illness and sorry for myself to have lost my 'mate' to Alzheimer's.
Thank you all for your continuing support. I missed out a few days this month, when I felt too depressed to look after myself or report back, but it was only a few days and I have almost made it now until the end of the month!

Having a bit of a hard time. My partner has had problems every day this week that have required me to sort stuff out for him, over and above the normal. I get stressed and pulled out of my own routine. I am a bit fragile myself with the Covid-19 restrictions, missing my kids. It's not easy to try and work on UAC routine.5

Hang in there @Chinkiri. You have so much going on right now that is out of your control. Being in limbo is disorienting and disconcerting. We are creatures of habit who crave routine. It seems you are also grieving the loss of core aspects of your partner’s being. Grieving is horrible under normal circumstances. I can’t even imagine how overwhelming and lonely it must feel in these times. You are strong though. This is not forever. You can do this. Although I do not know you in real life, your posts reveal that you are honest, caring and sincere. Because of that, I have faith in you. Don’t lose sight of you and your needs though because that is what keeps us sane. Self care. So when care takers arrive to give you a bit of a break, get on your bike and start peddling. Ride down to the beach and inhale. Walk around the botanical garden you mentioned a few posts ago. Be free in those moments and please take care of yourself as you take care of others.4

I wish I were writing about something exciting...but here's the thought right now. Man...this intermittent fasting thing is really intriguing me. A friend has been doing it for 2 yrs. I have alot to study, but I was wondering if any of you are doing that with success?
My scale is yo-yoing... water I suppose. Not going to allow myself to sweat it...but man...so frustrated all the same.
Going to aim for 3 miles walking today for a walk-a-thon fundraiser benefiting our food pantry at church.2 -
I have been using my breadmaker machine pretty-well non-stop for more than 6 weeks now - alternating between white and whole-wheat bread. For the first time, tonight I am making raisin bread (white bread with addition of SLIGHTLY more sugar than the norm - though only 1/2 of what the recipe calls for; plus cinnamon; plus, big surprise, raisins.)5

I am on vacation and not keeping up so well this month, but I have stayed under my calorie goal so far and am getting exercise when I can. No winner's circle in June for me, but I am doing my best. And the fishing has been great!
