Here it's usually kg and g for most things, but I think a lot of people still weigh themselves in stones and pounds. I weigh myself in pounds (not stones), and that's because I'm used to stones, but I don't automatically convert to pounds, so I get a number and don't really know what it means and therefore it doesn't have the emotional weight. It's a form of denial, really!

Yes, let's hope next year is better. Seasons greetings to you all!

I'm rolling in the new year up almost 15 lbs....but I plan on getting it off before summer!
That's my plan any way , lol
    You gotta have a plan,

The kids are moving into a home this week and it is so exciting! ....except for the hard work to get everything cleaned...I am exhausted trying to help out, just two days so far ...lol I told them it was very ironic with me on my hands and knees scrubbing their floor grout!! I hardly ever get to do that for myself!! The things we do for those we love!

Isabella turned two this week. That was mind blowing, seems just last week she was born.

I am keeping the kids tomorrow while they do some more cleaning...kinda think they have the easy job. lol I will be exhausted!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.
    Virtually love you girls!!

Gail, I can so relate to you cleaning their grout but not yours. Lol. You are absolutely right...the things we do (especially for our kids)! I can’t believe it’s been two years!!! It seems like yesterday when you shared the good news but then again, my granddaughter is nine months already.

15 pound loss by summer is totally doable! I’m trying to finish the year at least a couple pounds lighter than I started it. My plan at the start of 2020 was to be down by three pounds a month. I thought that was totally doable. Then COVID happened and now I’m hoping for three pounds total for the entire year!

I’m working on coming up with my goals for 2021. I’m going to turn 60 in June and really expected to be at my ideal healthy weight by then. I’m not gonna make it so I’ve got to revise my expectations.

    Hi Hatters

We're all in the same boat i think.. this pandemic has impacted all of us in so many ways and I think we need to be kind to ourselves for whatever weight gains have happened.. we can only hope 2021 will be a far better year all around for everyone!

I hope each of us find a few moments of happy during the holidays; it can be a difficult time for some and a joyous time for others; and i hope everyone stays safe and well and is able to find a moment of joy over the holidays... hugs all around!

For sure, as long as we are all safe and healthy is really all that matters. This pandemic has shown us that we really need to live in the moment...Eat that sweet! Eat those carbs! Just in moderation. Enjoy our lives and the people in it!

    Hiya

We're fast coming up to a new year (thank god) and the time has come to ask if you want to continue the group or not into 2021.. we're down to just a couple of us now and I completely understand if anyone is feeling the need to move on to follow their own journey I personally will be continuing with MFP and would be happy to stay in our group if anyone else is interested, but I think it's best we figure it out before starting a new thread for a new year...

It goes without saying this has been such a difficult year for everyone around the world.. so many emotions and fears and decisions that have impacted our lives day after day and i can only imagine like me, many have found their routines, their hopes and dreams and goals and plans have been affected in so many ways, and sadly most of those have been in a negative way. But we humans are strong.. we may waiver, we may stumble at times, and we may become exhausted emotionally and physically, but we keep going.. sometimes we are lucky to have friends and family who lend a hand when needed, but in the end we are the ones who push through and overcome whatever obstacles get in our way. It's why we have made it this far and why we will be able to start to move forward again. We have to believe 2021 will bring an end to the pandemic, and a return to a happier and healthier time for all. And I know I want to be at my best to enjoy it all. So whatever your own goals are in any area of your life in the new year... to borrow from Winnie the Pooh.... always remember you are stronger than you seem, braver than you believe, and smarter than you think.

    Hugs

Well said, Snoozie! Dear lord, please PLEASE let 2021 be a better year for us all! I will definitely be up for continuing the group, even though we’re down to just a few people. I look forward to everyone’s posts and comments. It gives me such comfort to know that I’m not alone in my weight loss struggles. Everyone is so encouraging and supportive. Even if it ends up being four of us or two of us... I find the group very helpful.

Thanks for letting me know Suzy... I'm glad you want to continue with the group and hope the others feel the same and will join us too :)

I am also looking at where I am and what I want for myself. The lack of control over certain aspects of my life due to this pandemic, can no longer be one of the excuses for not focusing on my health. We are in lockdown again, and while I do believe that this year things will improve greatly in eradicating the virus, I can't "wait" to focus on my own health any more, nor can I use it as i said as one of the excuses I've used, and I've had many I used!! None of which included stuffing my face every 30 seconds of course.... no personal responsibility taken!

So I have committed to losing 20lbs and increasing my mobility and strength in the New Year. I have decided for me that I will weigh myself Jan 1st and record it as my starting point, and I am going to go back to the basics that succeeded for me when I first came here. I am going to begin with calorie counting and set a 1400 limit to start, with tweaking as needed. I'm simply sharing my own plans because as we know, having others on the same journey is so helpful to us all, and in truth the accountability aspect has a lot to do with it too...

So I will be starting a new thread for 2021 (or anyone else can if they want to do it of course!) and look forward to achieving my goals and supporting anyone else along the way..

I’m thinking along the same lines, Snoozie. I need to get back to what worked before and stop all the “fudging” and rationalizations. I kept to a 1200 calorie limit before but now I think I’m going for 1400 or less. My biggest challenge and emphasis will be on strength and flexibility.

I hate that you’re back in lock down. However I’m thinking we should all do the same until the vaccines are given and working. I’m really afraid that the numbers are going to increase dramatically because of Christmas gatherings.

Maybe the thread for 2021 should be something about “back to basics” or “the time is now” or something like that. What do you think?

Suz - love them both ty!! But the first one - my favourite!! how would u feel about it with maybe a little tweak?? i think could be our announcement page for 2021 (the one that shows at the top every page?) how would u feel about tweaking it a bit tho to be our inspiration daily... maybe to read "One day or TODAY - you decide! To remind us that every today is the day to keep committed? just a thot...

I decided to start practising logging my food today .. there have been a lot of changes to the food diary since i last used it (gulp) lol.. so i will have to figure out the whole "scan a meal" option etc... hopefully tho it will make the logging much easier and help me stick to it!!

Great minds think alike Snoozie! I started logging again this morning just to see what’s what. I haven’t tried the scan a meal feature yet. I’ll have to figure that one out, too. Hopefully it will be helpful.

I love the tweak! Sounds good to me. It reinforces the reality that if you exceeded your calories yesterday then today is the day to stay committed.

yes EXACTLY Suz... seeing that every day will remind us that its not some day to stay with it, its today..!!

ha on the great minds... i used the bar code scan a lot this morning on my phone, that was the same but i havent figure out the meal thing either .. i have a lot of home made soup in the freezer at the moment which will be handy for lunches, but im not going to try to break down the recipe for calories on those i will just search the data base for home made pea soup or whatever, and average out a # between the lowest and highest that are there..

i think theyve improved the "recent" feature too ... so maybe this time it will be easier doing the logging!! Yay!

well after 2 days of "practice" logging... where i tried to make sure i put everything in i was actually eating but did "guesstimate" on some... I am no longer questioning how i gained so much weight back.

    omg

it was definitely a shock to the system to see just how much i am eating every day.. and i know already that with lockdown, evenings and boredom are going to be my biggest hurdle for sure!! But it has been very valuable ( if scary ) to start logging again... i need to remember it was a big part of my success in losing the excess weight when i first started so instead of hating it, i'm going to see logging as my new best friend LOL.... (somebody MAY need to remind me of that in a few weeks when I start whining again tho haha)

Definitely keep us going. ...like Suzy said even if it's just a few .......like us three. Well I realize it's more like you two most times. I know I don't get to post much , But I really like keeping up with y'all by a thread....pun intended.

I managed to log for two and a half days. Lol. I know, I know!!!! I need to do it and I will. I don’t know about “best friend” though. I think it’s more like that high maintenance friend you have that you’ve known for years and who you enjoy being around...until you don’t. Hahahaha!

I get my stitches out today!!!!!! Yay!!!! My finger is still painful, swollen and hard to straighten but it is getting better. I’m anxious to hear what the doctor says about it. At the very least I’ll be asking for exercises to get the mobility back. I’ve started back on my knee exercise program so hopefully that will help my knee. I’m icing the ball of my foot incessantly to get the little “pebble in my shoe” feeling to go away. I’m trying to start the new year off on a healthier more positive note.

Please let us know how it went at the docks and I’m sure they’ll give you some Mobility movements to do with it and it’s awesome you’re keeping up with the knee and foot stuff to we got this and I’m honestly feeling much more ready to get started let’s hope that feeling continues

Everything went well and I’m doing as expected. He gave me some exercises and said to expect the pain to slowly get better over the next couple months. I’m so relieved to have those stitches out.

May we all have the Best New Year possible with all this mess we are all going through.
