Monday morning on a week that I work from home - this has been challenging for me - today I'm going to try to beat it - eat only what&when I would eat if I had packed my lunch/snacks for the office. Will try to check in tonight to confirm I did it!2

@Gidgitgoescrazy that really sucks. I don't see that you owe them anything, so I'd tell them both to do one. It's not your problem to fix and it reads to me like he's taking advantage of you.2

Solution!
My wonderful sister @EvMakesChanges (Evelyn) will help me out with the exercise minutes being converted into steps enterprise. She will collect them and I'll put them in the spreadsheet, so hopefully that will make it painless all around.
Just a reminder for anyone who is on the step/exercise team and wants to supplement their "plain" steps with some other forms of exercise - please report how many minutes, what the exercise was, and the speed/intensity level. If you are running, it is not helpful to tell the distance alone. Please say how many minutes and around what speed. This can be in minutes per mile/km, words like jogging or sprinting, etc. Bicycling also - around how many miles/km per hour, or how out of breath and sweaty you got. Thanks!
Hi! I'm looking forward to working with you all and helping Liselyn recuperate. Since the border is still closed and I can't come across any time I'd like to physically help, this will have to suffice for the month.
More soon.
Have a great Monday.4 -

Saturday when I went to work, my husband took the car, so he just dropped me off at work... Well that new girl didn't come in, although she said she was there at 9, and kept checking back to see if a car was there, but not once did she knock on the door or bother to call the office.... Anyway, the owner sent me this long text that she had sent him, about how I was an important piece for her to be successful there... Umm I don't want to be that.. He was supposed to hire someone who could just pick it up and run, it's pretty obvious he didn't and is expecting me to help guide her... I am so over this... I don't know why I let it bother me, but it does. If it was reversed he wouldn't be helping me out...
Anyway, no exercise this morning, but I did do a nice long meditation about grace...
Have a good day.
Just my two cents, but Vikki I think you have gone above and beyond to help your old boss out. Time for him to earn the big boss pay. You have a new job and your own life and well-being that you need to focus on. My vote is that you are done trying to train anyone. Enjoy your new job and your open weekends to do what YOU want to do. Hugs!3 -
Happy Monday! Woke up and went out on my screened porch to soak in the sunlight and feel the chill. I have been going on with no coat or shoes to take it all in. Maybe weird, but I am enjoying it. Do a few stretches and rolldowns. Then, put dishes away while I made my coffee. Then did my lovely Pilates. Such a nice wake up routine.
Yay! to Evelyn for helping out with the step translations. I will try to get this week's step report up shortly so if you are missing steps, please get them in asap. Thanks for all the steps already reported.
@sunny9847 I need 3/1 from you
@pearl466 I missing Fri and Sat but I think you are injured and taking a break
@riagalgate 2/28, 3/4, 3/5, 3/6
@kiay131982 all week
@evangsimmons170 all week
@fuschiabolero all week
@CurvyCalorie all week
I will check back later and do the report this evening. Thanks!2 -

Sounds like a great plan! And don't forget lots of water in between and those steps to the bathroom that go with it. It's important to get up and move.

@micki48 Oh, walking outside with no coat, socks, or shoes? Wow! That says "warm climate" all over it. Well, I *could* do that but I'd have frostbite within a few minutes! We still have a few feet on the ground and will likely still have some in late April/early May. It's a short, short summer season here in Vermont (and further north).
The numbers I'm working on this week are:
*3 Mason/Ball jars (72 fl oz) water/day
*2 cups of tea sans sugar/day
*1 hour of reading/day
Off to do some reading now then onwards to Winooski to help Emily move a desk. Muscle work - yay!

Today is shot, our favorite supplier sent us US girl guide cookies. Man, Americans have no idea how good they got it compared to Canada lol.
Having nostalgia for the days we lived close to the border so we'd pop over for groceries.2 -

ah well - you aren't missing anything these days anyhow. I live near the border and have not been across it for a year now! We can't even pick up our mail from our US post office box. Lucky you getting those cookies!3 -
@micki48 yes I did my back in and trying to take it easy. I have walked but did not track as I did not want to feel pressure to add steps (mind games I know). The pain was pretty bad.
Much better now, hopefully back to working out tomorrow. Still aching but bearable now.
Very out of character for me, I've no idea what happened.3 -
Weigh in 212.4, not a loss but could definitely be worse3

Monday weigh in

It was in the 60s here today, totally beautiful weather. I live about a mile from an outdoor mall so I walked up there and did a little shopping and got some coffee. So far today is the first day in weeks that I have logged everything and really stayed in budget. Hopefully I can keep with it.
I had a lovely mini vacation with my son and I also recently started seeing someone so eating out has really done me in lately.3 -
@sunny9847
I think your post about a party and some wild eating was the first time you have not simply hit all your goals every day - I hope you had a wonderful time. You are so disciplined!
It was a great time with family and totally yummy! Met all goals today. Steps 134502 -

@Pearl4686
I hope your back feels better soon! Give it whatever time off it needs, but keep it nice and strong once you can.
Things have been pretty quiet here, as usual - my daughter is picking out horses for me so that I have videos to watch and to drool over the lovely things. I think she is trying to get my buttock to heal faster so that I can start riding again soon! Still a ways to go - but it is slowly improving. I sure like a mare she found, though. I have a soft spot for blue roans
Only one lonely reminder for tomorrow! Tuesday's superstar:

The best laid plans....yesterday was a complete fail...gave in to stress immediately. Today is a new day - weighed myself too for 'inspiration' and I"ve yoyo-ed right UP no surprise. Today is a new day...today is a new day...
The 2 caregivers we were going to reintroduce once mum & dad fully vaccinated (in 2 weeks)...one is moving to Ireland - in August at least so we'll have some hours/help from her and the other, my sister, has let us know (timing! %/$#!?!!!) that her shoulder is too painful and can't do it. The idea of introducing someone new, a stranger, is probably/possibly necessary although really unappealing ...it's a small house with things falling apart, we have our ways of doing things, etc...gahhhh!!!!
Mum took out of the library "The RBG workout" a cute little book with great illustrations of the exercises that RGB did twice a week with a trainer....we're going to scan the exercises that we want, print out and make our own poster

Tuesday Weigh-In
PW: 187.1
CW: 186.5
Was hoping for a bit more down but a loss is a loss! Also ending that TOM so perhaps some more bloat to drip off in the coming day or so. Determined to be really on the ball through the next weigh-in! (What a concept.)
@MandiSaysHey It's already over 40 here at 9am and I am so excited. Spring is around the corner!!
I ran another mile yesterday so I'm at 12/23 miles for March. I was chatting with a friend who also runs on the off occasion, and we discussed maybe trying a half marathon (!) in the late summer or early fall. Now I've been searching for races that haven't gone virtual in Aug/Sept near our respective homes. I never thought I would want to do a big race like that but now that I've had the idea, I can't get it out of my head. The 4 mile run this Sunday was surprisingly easy and felt good. Think of the calories burned in 3.3x that.
General question for the group - I am considering buying an elliptical for easy indoor cardio on unfriendly weather days, etc. Was looking at the NordicTrack ones, and the most affordable and reasonable to me won't ship until end of May at the earliest. Does anyone own an elliptical? What brand? Do you like it/use it?3 -

@EvMakesChanges It's still chilly. 50ish but I know not as cold as up there. In Vermont, I don't know that I would be that bold. But I do have a friend who lays in the snow in her bathing suit and practices breathing. It's part of her morning meditation and is supposed to reduce anxiety. Not sure about all the details, but she LOVES it. She does wear a hat. Nice goals.3 -
@Kali225 I don't have an elliptical but loved using them when I went to the gym pre-pandemic. I do have a Nordic Track stationary bike at my house. It's a good piece of equipment. I enjoy it, but like the elliptical better. Not really a recommendation, but my 2 cents. How exciting to run a race with a friend! You are doing great with miles per month. Great work. And yay! for your loss.
@eggfreak Sorry to hear that you are having caregiver issues. That is a hard one, to bring a new person into your home. Especially now. Hoping you can find someone with ease. I love that you are both looking to do RBG workouts together.
I have been continuing to do my Pilates each morning. The one I have done Sun, Mon, and today have been the same morning wake up and lasts about 12 minutes. I am really enjoying it.
Yesterday was exciting because the CDC has put out guidance for fully vaccinated people. That will be me in one more week. Most importantly, I will get to gather with my kids very soon. I have not seen my son for 7 months.
While he has been away starting his new job, his girlfriend did test positive for Covid, so glad he was away. She is doing ok. Congested and lost her sense of taste.
But, my husband and I actually went to a store, which we haven't done for months and months. Well, about a year actually. We also got take out from a restaurant we used to go to before C. We have been very careful and not wanting to take chances. It was soooooo tasty. Not exactly on program, but here is what I noticed, I could not eat nearly as much, so my natural portion size has changed. Also, the food item I ate the most of was the Greek salad. Once the excitement of eating something I didn't cook wore off, I realized how salty it was compared to what we have been eating that I cook. This morning, my hands felt like little sausages when I woke up. So, water is on deck for today.
Hope everyone is doing well. I believe the little one will be over later. I think I may go get started painting my fence. I wonder how much I can get done in an hour and a half?3 -
Thanks for the news bulletins today - I needed them after another disappointing nurse visit to get my bandages changed, and confirming that I need to keep the drain that is removing blood since my surgery for a little longer (sorry if that is TMI!!). I thought it would be out by now, but it is not time yet. It is certainly better than having the hematoma site fill back up like it was before, though, so I'll take it!
I have to find the RBG workouts. That sounds like a lovely way to remember her. For the non-Americans, that is Ruth Bader Ginsberg who sat on the US supreme court and passed away in September. She kept working out with a trainer and staying as healthy as possible even as she fought cancer and worked until her death at age 87. She was a feisty and inspiring person. I'd do her workout any day. Thanks for mentioning them @eggfreak !
@micki48
Going to a store, eh? I tell you, living wild. I have actually contemplated getting some takeout but have not done it yet. A new counter that sells just tartare has opened, though, and I am a sucker for salmon or tuna tartare. I might not be able to resist...
I am singing the praises of youtube today. My keyfob for my car has stopped working and I was dreading the cost if I got Subaru to fix it. A guy on youtube showed me how to do it myself. I like that guy.
OK - off for my thrill of the day. A new ironing board will be delivered to my son's house and I have to be there to get it! Then I have to bring it up my hill... That will be fun. But I can start my sewing project at least!6 -
Sounds like everyone is keeping busy!
I finished module 2 of my values course, which involved some extra reading - blogs and TED talks, mostly. I quite enjoyed them and got a new quote for my Google Home display on my desk (which has a mix of photos, memes and quotes that inspire me or make me think) which is "What is the work you can't not do?" By Scott Ginsmore. I think that's a very powerful question! There was also a Ted talk about not chasing passions, but following your curiosity instead which I think suits me.
I finished work early today, having put in the extra hours recently, as I had a virtual motivational/networking event this evening. I'm committing to going to one a month... Between finishing work and that event however, I ran my fastest 5K since I started running again in November, I think by over 5 minutes. It may be my best 5k time that wasn't part of a longer run.
Then an 8km/2hr walk, just because I like being outside. Unsurprisingly I'm tired, but in that happy, worn out from exercise kind of way, so I've had a relaxed evening after the event. I was in a snacky mood today but have managed to stick to my plan. I did buy a medium size bar of chocolate, which I'd planned to portion out, but haven't opened it on remembering that I'd had some Ferrero mini eggs (recommend these to UK peeps!) with my lunch. Something to look forward to 😉5 -
Oh you all can have a big laugh at me today! Along with myself -
I hauled that danged ironing board up the hill. This is a half mile steep switchback, and the package was large and heavy - I carried it on my head, and with several breaks (to admire the view, of course), I made it!
Then, after catching my breath and bringing my heartrate back to something approaching normal, I opened it up, carried it up the stairs, and set it up. I was ready to start a pattern that I have wanted to make for a while. At last, I could iron the fabric (which was in a mess after being stuffed into a bag for a couple of years), iron the pattern pieces, and get to work. As I was merrily going along, feeling so productive, I noticed that the pattern pieces were in size XXL. This is a pattern that has been in a drawer full of the things for many years. The more I looked at it, the more I thought it would be tricky to size it down to a small. Well, that pattern is now heading for the compost, and the fabric is all ready to go for something else! NEXT!
All this because my ironing board died a terrible death back in December. The setup with it resting between a windowsill and a chair, with a heavy rock holding down one end, finally became too much to bear. I am very happy with the new one, but wish I had looked at that pattern a little more carefully before choosing it
OK - moving along - I hope everyone has been having a lovely Tuesday. Who's up for tomorrow's weigh-ins?

Wew! A very productive day. It was gorgeous outside. No jacket required. I painted the whole fence and my gate. I just have one more section to do. I stopped for lunch and never got back to it. Hubby and I then worked in the yard a few hours cutting up branches that recently fell in an ice storm, which seems funny since it was about 70 degrees today. Lots of calories burned. Lots of steps. Food was fine. Working on the water now. I'm sure I should have had more but I was busy.
Went to daughters for dinner and danced and played ball with the little one. I think I will sleep well tonight.
@jugar How wonderfully frustrating to go to all that trouble to start your sewing project and find out the pattern is XXL. You are now a long way from that. That's the wonderful part. Hope you find a new project soon that you can use that new ironing board for. I'm so sorry that you did not get the news you wanted about the drain, but patience and all will be well soon. You'll be on that horse before you know it. Hugs.4 -

I won't be able to get my numbers up for awhile as I've taken on more work and struggling to find time to walk. My back is also still sore (although much better) so no workouts still. Happy to be off the stepping team if I am dragging the numbers down.4 -

This week feels like its two weeks long... my kids have trimester finals and we are studying every night, lots of Dr. appts and meetings and blah blah blah. Funny how my schedule can go from empty to packed. I'm trying to remind myself to enjoy these times and that I will miss it one day... just not feeling it.
On the bright side, today is the only day this week its not supposed to rain so I'm sneaking in a walk with a friend for lunch.4
