@apple852hk Well, I am not free from being a sugar addict and I just had binge last week that started with a chocolate Easter bunny and ended with Easter candy at work. Knowing that I’m a sugar addict and how it affects my brain is important. I have to stay vigilant, or I will cave into the temptation. Much of the time I can say no and keep away from those foods that trigger a binge. Because once I do give in it’s like an alien takes over my brain and it’s so hard to stop until I’m sick and full of self-loathing at my weakness. Do you feel those same kinds of feelings when you binge on chocolate? What helps me the most is going Keto and eating enough fat and protein seems to help the best. When I’m doing good, I don’t eat carbs other than veggies. I don’t eat bread, rice, or even fruit because it all turns to sugar in my body and will trigger me to binge. What also helps the most is learning all I can about food addiction and how I can overcome it. You can too!!
@19shmoo69 Nice loss this week!! Keep it up!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Wow what a great week you had!! You just keep at it and that weight is going to fall off you.
@trooworld Awe your pup and your poor sleep. I hope will be better tonight. Yum to those tacos!! You are right that you can make adjustments so that you get to enjoy your meals without making the scale cry.
@Jactop Great advice to Apple! It’s interesting that you allowed yourself all the fruit and other carby foods to help you adjust to no sugar. I think it’s very helpful to be realistic with ourselves and sometimes easing into it is much better than when we try the cold turkey approach.
@caitlingfry I’m so glad that you are feeling better. That is a bummer that you can’t celebrate your mom’s b-day with her, but keeping her safe from the virus is a must and you can do a belated celebration when you are free from your room and have your taste buds back. I say that if noodles make you feel better then eat those noodles!! AND…I Googled backiotomy and got the YouTube video “Doctor said I need a backiotomy.” Hilarious!!!
@Cornanda Wahhoooo look at you losing 2.8 lbs this week. Way to go, girlfriend!! You have to focus on the overall downward trend of weight loss and not those ups and downs that drive us all crazy. How long are the kids coming home? Are you glad they will be back?
Hello Slimpossibles!! Today has been a super fun day. After church and lunch, hubby and I had to run to Sams and go pick up an RX for my mom at Walmart. Afterward, we went to Chicos. If you don’t know what that it is, it’s a clothing store for women that sells really nice clothes that are geared toward the more mature yet stylish woman. That’s me!!! Anyway, I have never gone into Chico’s because I never felt like they would have stuff to fit me. Plus, I wasn’t going to pay those prices on clothes when I've always been losing weight. I tried on a pair of sized 12 jeans and they were too big, so the lady gave me a 10 and they fit!! The sales lady was super nice and kept giving me fun things to try on. She said that after losing 80 lbs. I needed to figure out what my style was. She also understood when I told her that I wasn’t going to buy a lot of stuff until I reach my goal. And once I did Chico’s was for sure going to be one of my go-to stores. Ohhh I did buy those size 10 jeans and one super cute top that was on sale.

Wow you guys are super active on here on the weekends lol, I have a lot to catch up on!
@caitlingfry Sorry to hear about your positive result. Take care xx
@Katmary71 I'm so glad that you are finally making some progress in the system to get your pain managed! It's funny the things that you don't realise will flag on a drug test. I work at a gold mine, so I am subject to random drug & alcohol and hydration testing. People always thought it was an urban myth that poppyseeds can flag on your drug test until it actually happened to someone here! He'd eaten an orange & poppyseed muffin the day before and it flagged - they didn't want to believe him but the lab confirmed that the levels were consistent with that! But even some medications that don't contain the drugs they screen for can show a false result - like diabetes medications can show as barbiturates sometimes! And mouthwash can make you fail the alcohol breath test even if it's been half an hour since you used it!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Ohhh I just got an air fryer a few weeks ago, I will have to try the chick peas! I used to buy them as a snack pre-packaged sometimes, but they were expensive so I stopped getting them after a while, but I loved the crunch factor!
Also - fantastic loss! I guess maybe the zero-point foods on the green plan are ok after all!
@fierce1alicia Great loss this week!
@mlhopp93 I like to experiment to see what works as well. Sounds like you learned a little more about yourself and that's always a good thing. Good on you for not letting yourself give up completely - we all have times where we slip into old habits (I've been doing this the last couple of weeks too) but it's getting ourselves back on track that matters. Great NSVs too!!
@Firefly743 Congrats on your loss!
@Jactop I love your ideas for measuring your success off the scale. You are making such great progress!
@TeresaW1020 Glad to hear you're back on track, as I knew you would be soon enough! That's amazing fitting into the size 10 jeans and that sales lady is right, your style will be different after losing so much weight.
@apple852hk Great loss - even if it is water weight, it means your body is working as it's meant to! Also great job on stopping yourself from eating endless amounts of chocolate. I know it can be so hard to stop.
@Cornanda Wow, great loss this week! I wish that weight loss was linear too, but alas it is not!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had a pretty busy weekend that definitely involved eating too much. My sister came over for board games a couple of nights, I volunteered as timekeeper for my local Parkrun, met up with my cousins for coffee as one of them is in town for a few days and we haven't seen her for about a year, had a play date with my friend and her little boy (we love seeing our boys playing together now they're old enough to actually interact), and did a whole bunch of housework!
I didn't track until yesterday, when I ate too many doughnuts but I own that. They're all gone now and I'm back in the saddle today. I treated myself to a massage yesterday, and she did a lot of work on my foot & calf to relieve my plantar fasciitis. We even did acupuncture and she hooked the needles up to a tens machine (electric pulses). I'm not sure how much any of this helped, as it hurts more today than normal, but I guess it may take some time for the inflammation to ease. I did read an interesting article from a massage therapist who says that the majority of her clients who have plantar fasciitis tend to wrap their feet around their chair leg at work - and I do this! So I am making a conscious effort to stop that and hope that it will also help it to heal.
I was feeling quite sore after the massage (I swear I am bruised in places) but I did a nice restorative yoga session and then meditated before bed with the Plum Village app and a beautiful candle burning.
This week, the Hogwarts challenge I'm in on MFP starts, so that always helps to keep me on track. I have plans to do more exercise and keep my eating under control. I have Friday off work and we'll be doing a day trip for some shopping (need to replace my laptop!) so I will need to be extra vigilant the rest of the week!
@19shmoo69 Don't look back, just keep heading forward, I'm glad you're back! It's weird, I tend to sit back and observe for a long time before jumping in, I score tied with introvert and extrovert, I'm more outgoing through typed/written than I am in person especially when I first meet people. If I think of how many people are reading what I write on MFP I wouldn't post at all, I'd have performance anxiety! Just be you.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I don't know if they still had it but Amazon had a Joe Hill compilation of 5 novels for $3.99, I still like Heart-Shaped box the best which @Trooworld recommended first, she said it was the scariest book she's read so I HAD to read it! I liked both NOS4A2 and Horns but I wouldn't pay full-price for them. I'm on the last now. I'm like you, I'm powering through all of them without a break, I'm very all-or-nothing too but my pain issues make it hard to do that now so this last year has been calming down and doing what I can instead of letting myself full-on pig out or eat strictly, etc. I feel for your mom, I've heard a lot of issues with people having screwed up stimulators in them and having trouble getting coverage to get them removed. When you're a certain age like your mom who really cares if she's dependent on meds and they're hard to come off of if she's going to need treatment for life?! I was at the point where I'd need two stimulators or a morphine pump and went the drug route instead until a few years ago, now I'm not sure what I'll do because it seems a combo of things I'm doing on my own and actual medical care would be the best combination but I can't get into the pain clinic to even talk to a doctor if I don't pass the drug test (even though marijuana is legal here). I can rant about this forever because I follow all the politics with the opioid crisis and how it affects pain patients, it's very frustrating and even animals aren't getting proper treatment because they're cracking down on vets giving pain medication. Love those nails, you're talented!
@apple852hk Huge hug, I can relate, it's hard getting used to not overdoing things when you make a decision to try something new! I've done that too, I still laugh because I had serious sweet cravings one night and ate a bunch of apples, when I closed my diary someone commented that I eat huge apples! It was 300-400 grams of apple, I think I ate five and that's after pigging out on vegetables! Every once and awhile I bring that up on my feed here because I don't know if that person was being sarcastic or thought I really ate 1 apple the size of a watermelon! I love your origami cubes, they're really cool! Do you like painting at all? Some people in my town paint rocks then leave them places, people comment on how they've made their day. Just thinking that would be a fun hobby plus you're spreading joy to other people. I've been wanting to do that but I'm not very artistic.
@Cornanda Are your kids home from school or moving back home?
@trooworld hope your dog AND you get some sleep tonight! I'm worthless without sleep too.
@TeresaW1020 Love to hear about you at Chico's, they have cute clothes, it must've felt amazing! I love that you were a smaller size too, party in the dressing room!
@TwistedSassette I'm so lucky it was before the opioid crisis, I'd barely flagged too so she asked if I'd eaten baked goods. I told her of course not, I'm being healthy eating two huge salads a day! It wasn't until the end of the appointment that it dawned on me I pour poppy seed dressing on those salads! A lot of us have air fryers, I love finding new recipes for it. Lean Pockets are really good in it because they get real crisp. I don't like fatty meat so I never tried that stuff but I still want to try pizza rolls and tater tots in it, I only think of that when I'm at Costco and I don't need 10lbs of pizza rolls!
Sunday check-in
OK, I missed a bunch of posts but there were 48 posts so I'm way behind! I was doing bad the last few days so I bowed out of planting oak trees and spent the last two days in bed aside of watering and working out. Today's been pretty mellow too, just been doing some online shopping trying to pick out gifts. My SIL, nephew, then Mother's Day are all next month so I'm trying to take some pressure off and pick out my SILs gifts now which will probably have something to do with yoga. I'm stupid about gifts, they have to be "perfect" so by the time I give a gift I've spent so long looking feeling anxious I just want to get it over with. I've been trying to just jump in and do things instead of over-analyzing everything but old habits die hard!
@davidji82 Way to go! You're becoming a permanent feature on the leader board
@vegan4lyfe2012 you really had a good first week...A nice loss AND made it onto the leaderboard. WW has so many nice features and support. So glad the program is working for you.
@Katmary71 sending ((pain relief)) vibes. I hope you get what you need soon.
@Cornanda nice loss. That's not easy to accomplish when life gets busy or when travelling.
Monday morning check in
I had a lazy weekend. Just couldnt seem to get myself moving but maybe I needed the downtime as i still had a loss for my weigh in this morning. My progress has been slow but consistent which has never happened to me before so it still feels too good to be true. I'm not going to make any changes to my current plan until I have to which isn't so bad as what I'm doing now is sustainable for me.
I messed up the count on my 100 workouts in 100 days challenge. April 10 was the 100th day of the year and not the 11th. I was short 3 workouts thinking I had one more day to make them up. That should teach me to leave things until the last minute. But it won't lol.
I'm happy with 97% which was up from 85%. And just to clarify it's not like I'm getting my sweat on every time. Some workouts are more intense but I also count steady walking or biking of 30 min or more as it still raises my heart rate. It's helped me get into the habit of daily exercise so I plan to keep it going. Next marker...150 workouts by May 30 (150th day of the year).
Be healthy peeps. Stay safe.1 -
@caitlingfry Dinner was delicious! I'm sorry about the back problems, I hope the yoga helps. That's great about the noodles...I love noodles!
@Cornanda Great loss! I'm glad everything went well with moving the kids home.
@TeresaW1020 I did sleep better last night, thanks! Very good NSV.
@TwistedSassette I'm glad you had a good weekend.
@Katmary71 I got better sleep last night, he is finally improving!
@Jactop What a great loss, congrats! And the 97% is fabulous and shows great dedication!
Congratulations to all that made the leader board! Well done!
My phrase for the year: CHANGE HAPPENS1 -
Hi, it's Monday, but you probably already know that. My kids are moved home from college. They are not quite done, but this week is spring break and the rest of the semester will be online. They will be here until Aug. For the most part, it's all good, but there's always those challenging days........ and of course, now I can't get by with running the dishwasher once a day lol!
@TeresaW1020 - shopping at Chico's sounds fun!
@caitlingfry-Glad to hear you're doing OK with the covid and I hope your parents stay healthy!
@TwistedSassette - this probably sounds too simple, and perhaps it is. I've had some issues with plantar F and lots and lots of calf stretching helped me greatly. My hub built an angle board so that we can do some pretty intense ones. You have to do it almost every day. When I start to feel better, I quit and then I pay the price.
Seeing some lovely losses this week! Congrats to all!
@trooworld - glad to hear your pooch is on the mend.
@Katmary71 - I stress out about buying gifts too. I wish I wouldn't! Takes the fun out of it.
Not much going on today- working from home. The weather is gorgeous and I had a nice long walk with my hubby this morning + my step aerobics that kicked my butt. Feeling good!
@trooworld Thanks! Million Dollar Dog…what a keeper! Hahaha! Looking at your suggestions, maybe I should go back to sautéing veggies in my delicious flavored olive oils. I had been trying to use as little oil as possible, but that would definitely offset the zero veggies. And I really miss my oils that I get at a local purveyor – Roasted Garlic, Garlic Mushroom, Tandoori, Garlic Chili, Basil Leaf, White Truffle…you get my drift, I’m sure! Thanks for suggesting it! And yes, it is really difficult having my son so far away and not able to communicate with him (more below).
@Jactop You have really been rocking your No Sugar days! Sucks that you still feel that pull…but how accomplished you must feel that you haven’t given in to the cravings! Definitely a reason to celebrate! I’ve learned that I can’t have chips, cookies or crackers. Those 3 C’s trigger me like an M-60! (For those that don’t know and don’t want to google…that’s an automatic machine gun). You’ve also really been kicking butt on your daily exercise! That is awesome!
@caitlingfry Those chickpea tacos are divine! You definitely should try them! If you don’t have an air fryer, you can always roast them. And thank you for your thanks It sounds like you are feeling a little better with those noodles. Not sure what veggies/sauce you prefer for your udon, but my daughter and I love a quick veggie stir fry and simple sauce that I make. And are you able to taste the noodles? I hope so! And…backiotomy…buahahahahahaha!
@Cornanda I know I’m not judging you for any type of attitude you think you may have (I personally don’t see negativity), but you certainly have the right. The stress of bringing the kids back home…and as much as you love to have them, I’m sure you and hubby got used to your routines of no young adults in the house to worry about. I hope everyone gets situated again and EVERYONE DOES THEIR OWN LAUNDRY!!! Hahahaha
@TeresaW1020 Thanks! It was the boost I really needed! What a fun time at Chico’s! Good for you for getting an outfit to celebrate in now
@TwistedSassette You are gonna love that air fryer! And yes, premade roasted chickpeas are expensive…but making them yourself is so cheap, easy and tasty! We sometimes make a tin just for snacking. Yes, I guess the zero point foods really ARE ok! And you are the busiest, most social butterfly I know! I know I said it before, but it bears repeating - it’s great that you spend so much quality time with family and friends. I have some of my dad’s side of the family just 30 minutes away from me, but haven’t seen them in years. It’s like after my dad died, they moved on without me Wow. That got sad real quick. Sorry! Have fun with your Hogwarts challenge!
@Katmary71 I’ll check Amazon…thanks! Yeah…the pain it is to get help for pain is ridiculous. You are in my prayers for everything to work out the way it needs to. Hang in there and stay in bed as long as you need to! And thanks (nails). I have fun doing them. I have a matte pastel polka dot going on my hands now:
I just applied to be a Maniology Ambassador, so fingers crossed!
And P.S. @Katmary71 & @TwistedSassette Tater Tots are freakin’ AWESOME in the air fryer! Hahahaha!
My check-in: So I’m sitting in church yesterday and who should happen to call me in the middle of the service? Yes…my son. I am so glad my phone was on vibrate and that the service is streamed on Facebook so I can watch it after the fact. And I’m glad I took his call. He said they were going to be leaving the Persian Gulf soon and this was the last time he could talk to me until they arrive at their next port in about a month. Time for me to put together another goodie box for him since he’ll be stuck on the ship again for so long. It was funny because my son’s girlfriend sits in our pew with us and a couple minutes after I left, she popped her head outside and asked, “Is that our sailor?” She snuck into the church nursery to await his call after I finished talking to him. Well, there’s my update. Other than that, a boring day today working from home, but a delicious lunch that my daughter made for us before she had to take off for work (roasted asparagus with garlic, bbq tofu, and onion and cranberry couscous). I hope everyone has an awesome evening (or day, depending on where you are!)
2021 Motto: WITH PURPOSE3 -
CONGRATS TO @davidji82, @Vegan4lyfe2012, and @Jactop for being the top three Slimpossibles last week!! Keep up the great work!!
@TwistedSassette You had a very busy weekend but it sounds like you had lots of fun too. Doughnuts are like kryptonite and it’s so hard to use moderation when something that tasty is around. That is interesting about the plantar fasciitis and wrapping your feet around the chair leg. Try looking for an under-desk footrest. I have this Footrest under my desk and love it!
@Katmary71 It did feel amazing to try on those smaller clothes. I’m the same with buying gifts and having the ability to shop endlessly online doesn’t help people like us. But at least our people usually get something pretty awesome, right?
@eahrenee Nice loss this week!!
@Jactop Great loss this week!! We are neck in neck with each other and I love it! 97% of your 100 workouts are incredible!! I’m challenging myself to 6 days a week of either regular exercise, walking, or deep cleaning the church or my house. But for sure 5 days inside my workout room doing a program and/or treadmill. We got to be fit when we get skinny!!
@trooworld Glad that you slept better. Fingers crossed that you will again tonight!
@Cornanda I’m sure you will do your best to enjoy your kids being home and not let them drive you crazy. Maybe some paper plates on the counter to keep them from dirty up all the dishes.
@vegan4lyfe2012 That is great that you were able to take a call from your son. What are his favorite things to get in his goodie box? I had asparagus for dinner tonight too. It’s one of my favorite veggies!
Hi Team! Today, I went to the eye doctor and got an exam and fitted for contacts. At this moment I’m wearing just one contact in my right eye and I’ve been told that my brain should adjust to it so I can read up close and still see far away. So far, it’s annoying the heck out of me and everything is blurry. But I have a 10-day supply and go back next week. I could go to multi-vision contacts if I don’t adjust, or I can end up wearing my glasses. I sure did like going into a store wearing my stupid mask and not having my glasses fog up. The doctor did say that my eyes look wonderful, and my nearsightedness even improved slightly. I told him that is a perk from doing intermittent fasting.
@apple852hk Huge congrats on your loss this week!
@caitlingfry really sorry you’re having such a tough time, hopefully things turn around soon! I am so sorry that you are not able to spend your mom’s birthday with her. Sadly I know the feeling, next year will be a whole different ball game!
@vegan4lyfe2012 yay for you on the loss!!! Glad your phone was on vibrate and you were able to speak to your son! That meal that’s delicious
@trooworld it isn’t good when you don’t get enough sleep, for some reason that makes me want to eat🤣. Those tacos sound delicious!!! Well worth the berries with cottage cheese/yogurt for breakfast and lunch
@Jactop I don’t think I would do well at all with a sugar addiction if I worked in a chocolate store! I don’t think I have a sugar addiction, I still would not do well at all and a chocolate store! Good for you that you have figured out what works for you, sometimes that can be the biggest trick. Huge congrats on the loss :-)
@TeresaW1020 Wow!! Chico’s sounds like so much fun!! Good for you - size 10!!
@TwistedSassette sounds like a fun weekend but I’m sorry you got about your planter fasciitis, I had that years ago, it is very painful! I wear Two different strengths of contact lenses, one is for near vision one is for far vision. It took me about a week to get used to it, now I love it!
@Katmary71 I have a daughter who is an over thinker like you, I know sometimes it can definitely put you behind.
@Cornanda good for you with step aerobics! I haven’t done that in years.
It has been a really busy couple of days here, I was planning on doing lots of posting yesterday but didn’t get the opportunity.
I was doing lots of meal prep yesterday, my meals are all now ready for the week, just took me a lot longer than I had anticipated.
We had a freak snowstorm yesterday then today turned out to be a beautiful day (almost all of his snow has melted) so I was able to spend lots of time outside. My pup is really into frisbee, so we spent lots of time doing that :-).
There was lots of posting going on the last couple of days LOL, took me a minute to catch up tonight :-)
Arg! Not terrible, but not in the green.
Onwards! And ugh, I have been working away at the Big Project (big progress!!) and the Medium Sized Project today. And I made progress on taxes! BUT I had fruit instead of salad for dinner because I had Zoom meetings all evening and had not planned far enough ahead.
SO tomorrow's change will be back to planning so I get in my big salad for dinner!
No cardio today but I did get in a good weight lifting session. Onwards!3 -
@Cornanda Thank you! Me, too! That's good you got them (mostly) moved back. I hope it doesn't cause too much disruption to your day to have them home. Sounds like a nice day yesterday!
@vegan4lyfe2012 He is a keeper, along with the name! LOL I would say to try to add in the olive oils, they sound delicious! If you don't meet your daily points allotment, what are you going to reduce to jump-start a plateau? If you are already eating your points allotment along with some of your weekly points, you can reduce your points without going into starvation mode. Just a thought. Those nails look great, I hope you get the ambassador position! I'm glad you were able to take your son's call. Your dinner looks yummy and healthy.
@TeresaW1020 Thanks, I woke up a lot throughout the night but I did get 7 hours of sleep. I hope you get used to the contact, that would be weird to only have one in!
@laurelfit57 Me too! I try really hard to get enough sleep because I know what it does to my weight loss journey but some nights, it doesn't happen! The tacos were worth it! Way to set yourself up for success with the meal prep, woo hoo! When I was working IN the office 5 days a week (I now work virtually 4 days, 1 day onsite), I tried to do meal prep Sundays. It really helps! I'm glad you were able to get some outdoor time with your pup. Congrats on the loss, WTG!
@AustinRuadhain Congrats on the progress on the Big Project and Medium Sized Projects! And you made progress on taxes? You are a rockstar!
Hello all. I think the stress from these past three weeks finally got to me yesterday. I got into things I shouldn't have both at work and at home. BUT...I am going to do some meditation and deep breathing today and that should help me relieve some stress.
My phrase for the year: CHANGE HAPPENS2 -
Just time to pop in and read today. @vegan4lyfe2012 --- can you stop by and doing my nails? Yours look amazing!1
-
@TeresaW1020 You really wanna know what he likes in his goodie box? Anything and everything that’s NOT good for you! Hahahaha! He said he had enough tuna and chicken pouches, so this time he wants all teriyaki jerky, pringles, fruit gushers and chewy candy ropes. It does last him about a month, though, and some he trades with people. You’d think he was 15 instead of 25! And I absolutely adore asparagus! I’m one of the 10% whose pee doesn’t smell when I eat it ! I hope you get used to having the one contact. I had PRK done about 15 years ago. 3 years ago, one eye started to misbehave so I tried getting one contact. It drove me insane…especially because I couldn’t see anything up close without readers. So I said screw it and just got the dang bifocals. I'm still salty that I spent $3600 on PRK that only lasted a solid 10 years. But, I was legally blind before, so I should just be happy that I can see well enough that I can technically drive without glasses.
@trooworld I have not been eating weeklies. My problem is that it’s hard for me to even hit my daily 30 points. I did great with planning yesterday and actually ended the night at 0. Then, out of curiosity, I entered my food in here and it showed my calories were just over 1,000. I’m just gonna have to plan a little better to make sure I’m eating enough so I don't stall myself.
@Cornanda If we lived close, I would most certainly do your nails! Thanks for the compliment!
It’s another quiet afternoon here and my daughter has today off, so she’s making dinner – quinoa stuffed poblanos. It’s a recipe from Hello Fresh. We don't currently subscribe, but I kept all my recipes from when we did. I’m going to enjoy the quiet today because tomorrow will be a busy one. As part of my work, tomorrow afternoon I will be working a recycling event. I’ll greet the people in their cars and direct them to the stations for recycling electronics, styrofoam, hazardous waste, shredding, etc. That will be my exercise, since I’ll be running around doing that for 3 hours. I really need to find a stamping plate for my nails that would have the recycling symbol on it or one of the earth. That would be hilarious. Gonna look through what I have to see if I can come up with something recycling-related. Anyway, after we (my daughter volunteers to help at these events, too) leave, then it’s on to Wednesday night Bible study...which may end up being my daughter talking about missions instead because the pastor’s wife should be popping out their baby any time now! Can’t wait for that!
I hope everyone has a great day/evening and that you stay in your “zone”!
@laurelfit57I keep thinking that I should do meal prepping to make things easier for me, but I just never seem to do it. That must be fun that your dog likes playing with the frisbee. My dog wouldn’t know what to think if I threw one at her. There are days when we really do post a lot. Don’t feel that you have to keep up when life gets busy for you. Just jump in when you can. Nice loss on the scale this week!
@AustinRuadhain That tiny blip on the scale will be gone in no time. You are super busy so keep doing what you can to keep yourself on the track you want to be on.
@trooworld It is weird to only have one contact and I’m on day two and still not liking it! I hope that your stress-relieving practices have helped to make you more centered and able to deal with your stress in a positive way.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I say with what your son is doing, he deserves all the treats his heart desires and you are a wonderful mama for providing it to him. Yeah, the reason I opted out of doing the Lasik was that my eyes already aging. If this one contact doesn’t get better I will try the multi-focal ones. A new baby in the church is exciting! I just held our associate pastor’s almost two months old this past Sunday and it was hard to give him back.
Hi Team! Today was a good day. I just love the spring weather in Georgia. I did a double workout this morning and then went grocery shopping. Came home and cut hubby’s hair and now I’ve got a bunch of computer work to do. My one eye contact is still super annoying but a little better today than yesterday. I’m going to wear it all week and see what happens.
Hi gang, quick check-in! I haven't been sleeping well, my boyfriend isn't sleeping well and I'm a super light sleeper and not used to hearing someone walking around in the middle of the night and I seem to be taking my ear plugs out every night or they're falling out. I have Walmart pickup soon with two different types of ear plugs and if those don't work and it keeps up I'll be minus a boyfriend living here, I care about the guy but I value less pain more than a relationship.
I had my drug test today. Ironically I got notice yesterday my medical info was hacked, my first response is GOOD FREAKING LUCK getting anything out of it but I don't like the thought of someone knowing my personal business. There's definite downfalls to online communication. Been gardening a lot, I'm not feeling too hot between lack of sleep and trying to get everything planted plus I stopped taking the medication I ordered to help inflammation but I wasn't tested for it. Shows it makes a difference! Take care gang!1 -
@Jypsy1 Congrats on your loss this week!
@Katmary71 I needed to look up what Lean Pockets and pizza rolls were lol. We don't have Lean Pockets here, but do have something similar called Pizza Pockets - though they're more like a calzone so they're suuuuuuper high-calorie! And we have pizza rolls, but we call them pizza scrolls, and I've never seen them available to buy commercially - only ever homemade! But I think they would be deliciously crispy reheated in the air fryer, for sure.
Sorry that your medical info was hacked - how awful. I don't know why these smart people can't use their talents for good instead of evil!
@eahrenee Nice loss!!
@Jactop Woohoo so good to see the scale behaving! I'm glad that you have reset your workout challenge goal, it would have been so easy to give up on it after you realised the messed up count. But instead you are just more determined to hit your goal in May - go you!!
@Cornanda Thank you for the suggestion, I will get my handy hubby onto making me an angle board! I have been stretching and it seems to help, but only for a while. I need to do some more research into proper rehab for it!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Thanks, I have a pretty great family so we do try to get together when we can. I'm sorry that your family has drifted apart, it happens too often nowadays. We talked about it with some of my cousins a while ago, after my grandmother passed away because she really was the matriarch of the family and kept everyone together, we worry that the drift will happen to us. Which it has, to some extent, because we are so widespread in where we live, we don't see each other that often and it takes some effort to keep in touch by phone etc. There are second cousins that I don't even know if I would recognise as nobody kept in touch. We decided that our generation needs to make sure that we don't all drift apart!
I'm glad that you were able to take your son's call, it would not have been nice to miss that one.
@TeresaW1020 Funnily enough, I do have a footrest under my desk. I just don't use it! I think maybe I need to raise my chair and then the footrest will be more comfortable.
It must feel so strange to wear just one contact lens! I hope that the blurriness isn't too bad. I have multi-focal contacts and they're good, but it did take a little while to adjust to wearing them.
@laurelfit57 Great loss this week! And good work on doing your meal prep for the week - future you will be so grateful!
Hi everyone! I had a last-minute decision on Monday, to take Tuesday off from work and go out to my parents' farm for the day. There is an extreme four-wheel-driving event that runs every second year on their property, and it's on this week. I mentioned to my boss about it and how I hadn't been often because it always seems to fall when it's busy at work, he looked at me and said "well it's not busy now, why don't you go?". What a great boss! So we packed up early and took the toddler out for the day, watching them do rock climbing and winching in their vehicles - it was so much fun! The toddler wasn't that interested, but I guess he's only two. We spent a bit of time with my Dad also, we don't get to see him that often so it was really good to catch up. This is a pic of one of the vehicles doing the event we watched, it's amazing and they're so daring! You can see this one is stuck in the rock crevices, so his navigator is out of the vehicle to hook up the winch to a nearby tree to get themselves out. They actually ended up pulling the whole tree over with the winch, which just made another obstacle they had to get over!
It wasn't a great day food-wise, but we were quite active as the spectator parking area was about a 15-minute hike from where we wanted to view from. Well, 15 minutes at a two-year-old's pace anyway. I still ended up with a very slight deficit, but the scale was up this morning from water retention. Hoping it goes back down in the next day or so! Meanwhile, my foot is quite sore from all the standing and walking, still feeling tender after the massage/acupuncture so I'm stretching it lots.
@AustinRuadhain sounds like a super busy day where you got lots accomplished! Good for you for getting weight training in with all that you had going on!!
@trooworld I can certainly empathize with you, when I am stressed, I’m definitely getting into things I shouldn’t be! Good for you for having a plan to meditate!
@vegan4lyfe2012 it sounds like an absolutely lovely day! Tomorrow sounds like it is going to be lots of fun, meeting all sorts of new people and helping the environment :-) :-)
@TeresaW1020 My dog didn’t know what to do with the frisbee to begin with either, she just wanted to play tug with it🤣. She is just so high energy, I needed something to wear her out. Is your contact lens annoying because you are getting used to it, or is your eye dry? I need to use eyedrops with my contacts, otherwise my eyes are dry and they annoy the daylights out of me.
@Katmary71 that’s always scary when somebody hacks your personal information.
@TwistedSassette that looks like so much fun! That is absolutely crazy that they drive their trucks through there😳. You really do have a great boss!
Had a bit of a stressful day, my mom lives in a senior centre and they have been put in lockdown once again, they just got out! There is another outbreak over there, five cases. They have all had their first shot and just got their second shots yesterday. I feel so bad for all of them, this has been going on for so long. I was super glad that I did my meal prep, I really wanted to order pizza and stress eat my way through it!!! Luckily I had done up some turkey taco meat and baked some pita chips, so I put the meat on the chips, sprinkled a little Tex-Mex cheese, baked them in the oven. I had some pico to Gallo, sat down and ate it all! Felt like a big indulgence but it was all within my nutrition levels and didn’t go over in calories2 -
@TwistedSassette What a fun day, I'm glad you took the time to do that! Sounds like you handled temptation well!
@laurelfit57 I'm sorry to hear about your non's situation, how frustrating! Were you able to see her before now? That would be the worst to have someone in a home or the hospital and not be able to be there for them. My parents recently lost a friend who had dementia in a home who hadn't had visitors because of COVID, it must've been really lonely for him. I hope the cases are cleared up and they open again soon!
i spent way too much time in the garden, I'm a little red! I went on a quest to find garden stakes at discount stores, I got 4 total from 3 stores! The drug test was no biggie, just a urine test. Stopped at Ace for more potting soil, gardened, and now I'm covered in deep heating rub, I'd better sleep good tonight! My folks are stopping by tomorrow, I may go visit my nephews with them. Have a beautiful Wed gang, tell someone how awesome they are today!1 -
@vegan4lyfe2012 Well a goal of eating all of your daily points is good then. Maybe you'd do better on the purple plan, which is focused on zero points foods and you get a lot fewer daily points. Something to think about. That's good you analyzed your day. Yeah, you don't want to stall yourself out. That's nice that your daughter made dinner. It sounds like today is going to be a busy day for you. I hope it goes well.
@TeresaW1020 Yeah I don't know if I could get used to that lol. I didn't make time for stress relief yesterday and I paid for it. I will make time for it today. I vow!
@Katmary71 I hope the earplugs help you. That sucks that your medical information was hacked! That is definitely a downside to all of this online stuff.
@TwistedSassette That is awesome that your boss told you to take off! That must have been a fun day. I hope your foot feels better.
@laurelfit57 Thanks, yeah, I hate when I stress eat! It just makes things 100% worse. I *wish* I would have meditated yesterday but I did not. I will today though, that's a goal! I'm sorry about your mom being in lockdown again. That must be very stressful for you. What a great NSV that you didn't eat through your stress!
Hi all. Yesterday was another stressful day but this time because of network issues at work. I was so frustrated by the end of the day, I kept getting kicked off our network. Needless to say, I didn't take good care of myself and ended up emo eating again. Today I am definitely taking the time to meditate this morning.
Happy Wednesday! Just read through everybody’s updates and things are looking pretty ok out there guys. Loving the gardening, family time, and worship that’s happening! Food exploration and outside romping! Also seeing some of the hurdles and barriers, but all those fun time things wouldn’t be so fun time if everything was rainbows and sunshine. Way to go keeping on team!
The birthdays have passed, I had a half of a cupcake and some of my favorite ice cream (couldn’t really taste it but it was the thought that counts). My back and head have been the worst of this. I did get sick 🤮 yesterday for the first time since contracting the virus. I’m supposed to be free from isolation tomorrow but my overall level of energy is 📉 downnnn. There’s like this perfect storm triple whammy of medical things going on for me: getting my IUD out (have had my period for about 2 weeks), getting vaccinated, and getting COVID. I’m so tired y’all.
There are some silver linings to having been in isolation in spring/birthday time -
I have been taking care of my sisters abandoned fiddle leaf fig for a few months and it sprouted two new leaves.. one on Sunday and one either yesterday or today. I showed my mom on Sunday via picture. (Despite working her whole life in technology she got her bachelors in botany and has a wicked green thumb) - she told me “you have been taking very good care of it, I haven’t seen new growth in years!” So that made me proud and happy. And today I saw the newest leaf and texted her “theres two!!” And she said I must be making it very happy so that made me happy. Because I’m trying and this is NOT a beginner plant. It’s already old and it was struggling for a while. Not like I saved it or anything just made it happy enough to keep growing.
The other thing that’s harder to share with people (because of my historic weight loss) is my current weight loss. A lot of people think I lost weight before by being unhealthy because it fell off so fast (it WAS a little startling). I was eating the most beautiful (and surprisingly affordable) filet mignon salad for lunch almost every day from a deli next to my job at the time so my coworkers (and bffs at the time and place) knew it was just the process in action. This time doesn’t feel that way since I’m literally sick so I don’t want to go broadcasting my continued weight loss to people who aren’t about it.. So since my last weigh in (Saturday after Easter), I was only down the smallest smidge and I knew it was going to be rough because I definitely over indulged. So silver lining to my sickness is that it’s putting me back on track for summer because I can’t taste the things I love. So far the things I can taste the most are high in sodium, artificially flavored, and really depressing for people who love food. I can smell a little better which just confuses my brain because the tastes aren’t all there. And I get that everybody’s smell and taste is linked, I’ve always been pretty sensitive to food (picky!!) so my nose and tongue REALLY work together. And now they’re confused.
Last full day of prescribed isolation and then I’ll get outside and try to build back my energy and stamina. Slowly.
I need a massage3 -
CRUD! I KNOW I am not eating right or well. I have not been trying at all. I am keeping up better with activity, but not what I put in my mouth. I will work on being better this week! Bday week is over!4 -
Hi, Another quiet, pandemic day here with nothing going on. One kid at the boyfriend's house, the other sleeping, just me and hubs here working. I bought my dog a donut bed for Christmas. It's a tiny, fuzzy circle. Supposed to be calming and believe me this dog needs calming. He curls up in a ball, shoves his head in it and sleeps the afternoon away. Not sure who's enjoying it more- him or me. He's so cute in it!
@katmary71- I just went on a search for ear plugs. I need them cuz my kids are nocturnal and they raid the kitchen at night! I settled on some Mack's silicone ear plugs. They were cheap on Amazon. Looks like Walgreens also has their own brand. They have helped me sleep soooo much better. My hair does stick to them, which is my only complaint- it's not painful, just makes them look yucky. There is another brand I haven't tried- Radian's- you custom mold them yourself. I may try those at some point. Good luck!
@TwistedSassette - car thing looks quite interesting and entertaining! Do you have to follow the racers around? Yay for your boss for giving the day off! Glad you caught up with your Dad.
@laurelfit57 - I hope your Mom stays healthy. That is awesome that your food prep paid off so well! Sounds like you even made yourself feel you were having a treat eating nachos but stayed on plan.
@trooworld - tech issues are the pits. Hope things are better and you are feeling back on track today.
@caitlingfry - That's really cool you made that fig plant so happy! Covid does not sound like a picnic, but seems you are hanging in there. Have been thinking of you.
@GabiV125 - If you find a scale that actually does apologize, let me know.
@leonadixon - Hang in there, I know you can get your train back on the track!3 -
@Katmary71 Do you sleep in a quiet room? We use a fan that sounds like a jet engine so all other noise is blocked out. I hope you can solve your problem without losing a boyfriend. Unless….that is something you wouldn’t be too upset with. Ugghhh on having your info hacked! That is unsettling for sure.
@trooworld I hate when I have network issues and I’m trying to get my work done. My computer at home likes to glitch up sometimes when I’m in the middle of typing. It’s so very frustrating and I can’t figure out what the problem is. I love that graphic on self-care! Funny because I saw it yesterday as I was looking for this Sunday’s F2F challenge. It is almost the same thing on self-care so I expect you to participate in the challenge!
@TwistedSassette I am going to try multi-focal contacts too. They didn’t have any in stock when I went for my appointment, so they ordered them. What a fun day to go watch the extreme four-wheeling! I have seen that on TV but it must be truly wild in person.
@laurelfit57 My eye doesn’t get dry from the contact. I can feel my eye with the contact and my eye without it competing with each other to focus. Yesterday was better until I sat down to watch TV. The screen was so blurry that I took them out and put my glasses back on.
@caitlingfry I bet you are so tired! You are going to have to take it really easy until you feel back to your normal self. I LOVE fiddle leaf figs!! I want one for my house but we don’t get enough light. If I could eat a filet mignon salad every day I would be a very happy woman. That sounds like the perfect low-carb meal to me!
@Cornanda I think we need to see a pic of your cute dog in his donut bed!
Hi Team, My hairdresser had to cancel on me again today so I’m still living with my grey roots. Hopefully next week! I did a good cardio workout and then 20 minutes on the treadmill. Food was good but I made this broccoli chicken cordon blue dish and ate way too much of it. I am still the worst at managing portion control and really need to work on that. Not sure what my weight will look like by Friday.
