CONGRATS to Trimstones individuals who placed this week! Great job! Steppers seem to be keeping it moving as well...great job ya'll!!! Keep at it!

So I have been so insanely busy lately, that I have put my diet and exercise on the back burner, My second job is right next door to a gas station, and I work doubles on Sundays, so its easy to run over and grab a snack. Well I stepped on the scale this morning and eek. I have got to get back with it. The line from healthy and unhealthy is such a slippery slope for me, and being so busy and tired and what not makes it easy to fall off track. Today I am back in it. no more junk, no more gas station junk, and get my butt up and in the gym.3

Good friend on MFP posted this in my feed today and I just loved it...hope it inspires you as it has me today!!

I have been using Lose It! to track my food and weight. I love that it auto adjusts the calorie budget but I am finding it more and more difficult to stick to as it decreases. Right now it gives me 1270 calories a day. As long as I eat pretty decent I do okay, and I still have room for a bite size candy bar or two. But there really isn't much wiggle room and it is becoming more challenging.

My update is a day late just like my weigh-in lol.
Yesterday when I was about to leave work a friend from my last job texted to ask if I wanted to go to a happy hour with her and her coworkers and the answer to that is always a YES from me haha. So I did have two drinks. It got tricky because there was a Chinese place right next door...all her coworkers got massive takeout meals, and it smelled amazing, but I managed to abstain. We talked until 10:45, so not a very productive night for me in the week when I need to prep for moving, but it was great to see her and I clearly wanted an excuse to not pack anyway.
Sunday after I weigh-in is always my big ol' takeout/cheat day. I ended up going with steak and potatoes and drank buckets and buckets of water/lemonade (though still no soda at least). I got on the scale Monday morning and weight was up 4 lbs, yikes, but that's usually how it goes after my big indulgence when the food is yet to be digested. It definitely helps me to have Sunday as a "day off" because then I can usually temper cravings I have during the week with a 'wait til Sunday and see what you want then' mentality. It was why I didn't cave to the Chinese last night! And even though I did obviously go all out on Sunday steak, a cool thing I *didn't* do was have ice cream. I'd been putting off ice cream all week, and then when Sunday night came I was like "okay it's ice cream time," but I wasn't that excited for it. So I asked myself, do you really want it, or do you just 'want' it because you've been telling yourself all week you were going to have it. And it turns out I didn't really want it that night so...I didn't have it. Taking this as a sizable victory bc in the past I would have eaten the whole pint just out of habit.
Relating to what @CharmingPassion went through last week with a gain prior to a great loss this week (and back under 300!), I do want to say that it's always possible that your weigh-in for the week just comes on a super bad day. Last week I weighed in pretty much every day (remember two weeks ago when I said I need to stick to only getting on the scale once a week? That's not happening. Oops.) and was reading a pretty large gain 5/7 days of the week until things finally came unstuck and I ended up with a good drop. Not to be gross, but this is especially relevant if you're not regular in the bathroom. So if you are honest with yourself and truly feel that things were on track that week (or in my case, 90% of the week lol), it's always possible that your last meal is just camping out in your stomach and hasn't passed through yet. Track the trends. I've been super lucky with Sundays so far, and I'm thankful for that, but do need to help myself out with more fiber. As much as there are things I 'know' about normal weight swings and variability from water retention/digestion, it's still definitely jarring and upsetting to see and accept gains when they actually happen, which is where this group setting to talk things out definitely helps
All that being said, I have already had two cheats this week, so it's realistically very possible/likely I'll see a true gain next Sunday. Especially since it's supposed to rain on Saturday so I don't think I'll get my long walk/jog in before weighing in...nervous already But it is kind of cool to be disappointed about a number that previously was exciting, because at least that means progress was made!
On to steps/movement. I'm grateful @izzyred9400 is on this team because I would like to win a month, and there's a lot to try to keep up with when there have now been MULTIPLE ~40k step days! It definitely motivates me to try to do a little extra or add another loop onto my walk home from work. My Saturday "running" (running still in quotations because it remains quite a slow jog lol) success was doing a total of 3 miles (ooh, ahh), although not consecutively. The breakdown was 1.0, 0.5, 0.25, 0.25, 0.75, 0.25 miles of uninterrupted jogging with plenty of lengthy walk breaks in between. I did cheat a bit by selecting for some of the gentle downslopes to start my 'run' stretches, but I'm still going to take it as a win I did love the quote @shnerb00 shared about comparison being the thief of joy; it's one I have heard before but I'm not always good at listening to it! I do think I'm doing better than previous loss attempts at trying to keep more practical expectations...but there's still a long way to go, so we'll see how I'm doing a few months from now haha.
This was long as usual, so congrats to anyone who made it this far! I treat this a bit like a journal. Maybe I should just post in smaller chunks more frequently...or actually get a journal...hmm. Anyway.

VERY excited to introduce our newest member of the Team leadership here... @JoDavo66 has accepted our invitation to join the team as a Motivator. I met with her today and she is simply delightful, enthusiastic and from the last few postings, she's certainly inspiring and motivational! I think she will make an amazing member of our team and I look forward to working with her in the weeks and months to come!
Please take a moment Jo, and introduce yourself to the team and let everybody know a little about you! Team, please send any notifications of landmarks in your journey to Jo, so that we can all celebrate your accomplishments together.
Again, on behalf of @mulecanter and myself, WELCOME to the team!

Hi everyone,
Thanks to Jessica @jessicakrall8 & @mulecanter for the welcome & correspondence. I love that we could chat face to face across 1000s of miles & timezones- got to love modern tech!
So, I've been a Trimstone for a few months now & for last 4 years have found the going tough.
You can spot 2 trends in my family tree photos: the tall skinny ones & those who are "round"- sadly I'm the latter & had to watch my weight all my life! Was a lot easier when I was younger but last 4 years it's crept on & a struggle to loose consistently. I am in need of motivation myself 😀😀. I've been thinking about the post since Jessica posted it and decided it would help me stay motivated too and also accountable to all the Trimstones.
I live in UK on the outskirts of Durham City. I teach Secondary Science (11-16 years), married with 2 teenage girls. I work 4 days equivalent over 5 days so I can have some "me" time which I usually spend in the gym- although Covid has made that impossible when they've had to keep closing.
Please be patient with me if I make an error- just let me know.
Also don't forget to let me know about 25, 50, 75, 100 lb etc milestones. The green zone & dropping to next 100 down are visible to me.
So let's get out motivation on & do this!
Jo

My knee feels better today, less pain and no swelling...hoping it will stay that way, but gotta make sure to walk around every hour to avoid stiffness. Spreadsheets are holding me at my desk UGH!
My fave "me time" activity lately is lying down and reading a good mystery...my current series is about a librarian who works in a lighthouse with a cat...charming little light reads...nothing heavy and depressing. It actually takes place not far from here off the coast of North Carolina and I've been to the Outer Banks many times...beautiful part of the US if you're ever vacationing along the Atlantic coast. It's about a 30-60 min drive for me.
Hope ya'll have a great day!

sneaky me time— My office is literally across the street from my house so I come home for lunch (when I’m not working from home) and enjoy some quiet alone time.
On another note, I have to step out of the step challenge! 😢 I wanted to be a team player and join in on the stepping fun, even though I don’t actually enjoy tracking my steps 😬 I was planning to give it a try and stick it out for the month of April but I just can’t. Sorry to be a dropout!!! But I’ll be here cheering you all on!! 😁4 -

@schnerb00 I'll leave you in the running and just fill in the zeros for the rest of the month...just in case your stats place you in the lead during any of the weeks. Thanks for trying...join us again, ANY time!
