Disappointed in this but trying to think of extenuating circumstances. I was really hoping to get into the 170s by the end of September. Hopefully I'll have a big loss next week.
All of you did super fantastic in September!7 -

Well, not out of the 200s yet, but at least I think I ended the month with a slight loss. That’s better than the last few where I had a gain.
The Pilates I do has an off the mat mission each month. This month’s mission is non-scale victories. We often (me included) let the scale defeat us, even when we know we had a good week. We are more than a number on a scale! What are your non- scale victories this month? Mine is having a pretty consistent month with daily exercise, specifically Pilates.

@jugar I don't know if I missed my name on the reminders (it's quite possible, I'm really tired) but my starting October weight is 163.8 (just weighed myself after getting home from traveling). You all are so inspiring!5

Happy Friday, Friends!
So today is the 1st of October and I am starting a month-long challenge in support of ActionAid. It's called the 137 Challenge. 137 marks the number of women around the world that are killed each day by a partner or family member. Each day you have to do either 137 sit ups, step ups or squats. So today I did 137 squats - I worked at the cafe today so I spread the squats out over the day. It's early days, but I'm determined to do something each day - whether it's a work out day or not.
My friends and family were so generous in supporting me for my London Bridges Trek and I raised just shy if £800 for MS. But I've decided not to raise money through anyone else for this challenge. Instead, once I get to the end of the month, I'll just donate £137.
Here's an early progress shot!

Great job, John! That's 7 pounds gone this month.
And Ellie! @ellz_runs you have kicked more than 10 pounds into the void in September.bonnie_red wrote: »@jugar I don't know if I missed my name on the reminders (it's quite possible, I'm really tired) but my starting October weight is 163.8 (just weighed myself after getting home from traveling). For anyone new - whenever I enter your weigh-in to the spreadsheet, I mark your post here with the "Insightful" thingy, just so you can verify that it is done, and I can be sure I did it. No one else should mark anyone's weigh-in post with that reaction please!
Wow Yinka! @YinxFed - that is an ambitious challenge. I'm not sure I could do 137 of any of those things every day. It is a great reminder of how that number is much too high. Thanks for bringing that challenge to our attention4 -
This has been a wonderful day.
I played some amazing duos with my friend this morning getting ready for our weekend workshop - a Macedonian piece with complicated rhythms, a French Mazurka that is completely hypnotising, and a Telemann piece that is like a great big smile in the room. It feels so good to have an actual rehearsal. Then the afternoon saw the garden completely planted in a cover crop to nourish it and keep the weeds from creeping in before planting next spring. And I made soup.
On top of all that, my bestie invited me over for HER soup tonight, so I'm off. I'm not sure how much I'll be online tomorrow, but will catch up when I can!5 -

Today Brad and I took my Mom for tea at the Banff Springs Hotel. I did track it but it's so hard to know what I actually ate - just a wild guess.
Went for a nice 71 minute walk when we got home so I got my steps in at least.
We are on holidays for a while more yet... trying to balance some of these food activities with plenty of movement. We stayed in a hotel last night so even little things like my water intake was off... definitely easier to stay on track when I'm firmly planted in my routine.
These are good "life practice" moments... gotta be able to navigate these things so I am glad when I can see how well I get through them without the old disordered patterns of my past.
Exercise stats for the last couple days:
09/30 - 10242 steps
10/01 - 11605 steps6 -
Morning team, happy Saturday and final day of September's challenge.
I have my final round of golf for the season. I am also up before Brad and I've gotten my squats in and intend to pop down for a yoga session as well. So, exercise will be good for today.
We have dinner out with friends tonight so I'm perusing the menu to pick my choice now - that way I can back in to the rest of my meals for the day and be successful!
Enjoy the day everyone!5 -
Happy Saturday everyone!
Thanks to all of your for your well wishes for our upcoming re-wedding. We have about 77 days left to pull this off. I didn't even want a bridal party this time, but Jeff wants groomsmen, so here we go. Funny thing is, I found the perfect bridesmaids dress this morning. I like it so much, I ordered one for myself. (I've used the website lots of times over the past few years, where they tailor your clothes to your measurements and you get to adjust necklines, sleeve and dress lengths as you wish.) Needless to say, I don't have time (or desire) to spend countless hours wandering through bridal shops for my dress, but I found 2 that I liked (both from websites I've used repeatedly) and ordered both of them. One should be here this month, the other next month. I don't have time for redos, thus the 2 dresses. I ordered my shoes and my fascinator (headpiece), of course 2 of both. I should be ordering my silk cascading bouquet (for me), bridesmaids' bouquets, boutineers, and a corsage all before the day is out. The venue is already selected (my church), and the date/time are cleared. Not bad for a day's work, eh?
I also created a 'save the date' invite in Canva and started distributing it digitally. I guess in the last 20 years, paper invitations are becoming less common. That's OK. That'll save us money.
My flowers:
Our colors are champagne and green (since our wedding is a week before Christmas). My dress is champagne and my shoes will be green:
And my shoes for after the wedding:
(check out the candycanes in the heels!)

WOW! You have some gorgeous ideas happening, and I am sure you will be resplendent, smiling, and champagne bubbly! The candy canes on the shoes are adorable. And guess what? Your day's work was worth double overtime. Don't forget - if you keep up your weight loss like this month you might have to nip in those dresses in 77 days!
@ashleycarole86
I imagine you are heading out to dinner soon - your diligence in choosing ahead and adjusting your day's food in consequence is a great example to all of us. I always forget that restaurants have their menus online and you can actually do this! Of course, I have not been to a restaurant of any description in a very, very long time.... Have a great time! I'm still hoping your trip eastwards will happen sometime so that we can meet up again, and this time with @bowens1973 too!
I had one of those double-edged sword days today. The workshop I went to was utterly abysmal. My partner in the endeavour was equally disappointed - this was one useless day, and we had been expecting some inspiration, results, and good development of our nascent duo. Instead, we got nothing, banality, and more nothing. Some of the other participants were interesting, but the leader hardly gave us any time to get to know one another. The "exercises" were all about "being in the moment" in a way that made it impossible to actually try out any new ideas, or to share anything useful at all. BUT, the good side was that I came home (we left an hour early and will not go back tomorrow) and wrote down 2 pages of ideas for a workshop that would actually be productive, useful, and enjoyable. I will work on this and propose something to the organisation that offered the disappointing one, and maybe will get to teach again. I have missed working with other artists and I think I have a lot to offer to those who are exploring their ideas and want to do so with artists from other disciplines. A fire has been lit! And the other good side of this sword? I walked for 2 hours, fast, peeved, and burning lots of calories. Angercise as Amber @Terytha named it sometime last year! It is good stuff.
So I hope everyone has their plans for October in hand and starting to figure out what you need the most from yourself. Dig deep! October is a great time to firmly hold to the things you'd like to accomplish this year.4 -
@evangsimmons170 WOW! Thanks for sharing ... love all the details and special touches to honor the close to Christmas date. So exciting!
@jugar At this point we really aren't sure when we'll get out to visit the Ontario and Quebec family that way... we are going as far as Manitoba next week to see my Dad but no further (for now). You know I'll definitely be looking you up when we get out to Montreal to see my brother though!!
Super bummed your workshop was such a bust but it would be great if it truly is the catalyst to you having a new outlet to teach in!4 -
Final exercise report for the Sept challenge:

17 minutes yoga + 18832 steps (thank you 18 holes of golf!)3 -
