I went to baseball game and we didn’t get home till 6pm and at that time, I was hot and exhausted. So no exercise. But walking up and down stairs that day with 90 degrees heat was more than enough for the day. I am thinking this morning I’m going to insanity. I have to push.

I had a gift card for Cheddars and decided while we were out to go ahead and use it. It was late and had been up and going since 6am and hadn't eaten all day. I didn't feel like I over-ate and quit eating as soon as I felt full. The food was delicious BUT it caused me to swell and bloat BAD!1 -
@Krysless2 here goes, and I'll try not to write a book. I'm 61 and have been on this journey most of my life. My Why changed over the years from wanting to look good going out partying with my friends, to lose the baby fat, to not be an embarassment to my kids, to look good for a special event, etc. I think perhaps my current Why may be the most important.
Being 61, retirement is no longer some far off point in the future but actually just a couple of years away. Life expectancy being what it is my biggest fear is not having enough money to live on. I've been doing a lot of research on the subject and the biggest expense senior citizens have is healthcare. Thus, if I want my money to last I need to be healthy. I need to do cardio to keep my heart and lungs strong. Strength and yoga to keep my bones and muscles strong and my balance good so that I don't fall and break a hip. I need to eat right so that my body has the nutrients that it needs to stay healty and strong.
My father was morbidly obese. The last years of his life he had emphysema and COPD and was on oxygen 24/7. I recently saw my brother at my niece's wedding, first time in 2 years due to COVID. I was shocked at the weight he had gained. Talking to him later I learned that during the last 2 years he had been bedridden due to blood clots in his legs and had a total hip replacement (yes I somehow missed those things). While talking he was sitting down because he didn't have the energy to stand, and he had to take off his bowtie because he couldn't breathe. Honestly it's a wonder he made it down the aisle. My brother is only 63.
Bottom line here is that we have a choice on how we age. We can't prevent getting older but we can prevent decaying. I intend to stay strong enough and healty enough to live my life, not sit in a recliner and watch from the sidelines. I want to continue to ride my bike and roll down hills with my grandson and everything else that life entails for as long as possible.
That is my why.3 -

March2022; Week 3Week3 Roundtable Discussion: WRDLets mentally prepare ourselves for this temptation-filled weekend!!
Whats your “Why”??
…. Share with us your reasons for being here and working at this every day! Why do you keep getting back on the wagon??
And if you could also incorporate some pictures. Sometimes the best way to paint a picture is to share a picture of what you mean.
Let’s keep pushing through! One more week and we’re finishing up March!Where do you want to be in April?
My why…
I was super fit 10 years ago. You would be shocked to see how much I gained. But the thing is I got healthier to set an example. I joined nursing school and I tried to eat healthy and exercise but I didn’t have the time. 10 years ago I was 140 lbs and started again at 250 lbs. It wasn’t until a patient said to me, how can I listen to your advice when you are obese yourself. I’m nurse practitioner student. Those lines really broke my heart. I had let myself go and no longer setting an example. How can I give advice to my patients if I’m not following the same guidelines myself. I’m lucky that in my family history, we do not have hypertension or high cholesterol but I do have history of diabetes. My last Ha1c was almost borderline diabetes. So this is certainly a wake up call for me. I will change and I will set an example that my patients can follow. So that’s my why!

I restarted insanity and I made a calendar to follow. My 12 yr old daughter even joined me. She could lose some weight and get a little more active. I’m glad that I’m that I can set an example for her. She is slightly overweight since the pandemic started.
Well now to rest as I work long days tomorrow and Monday. Will try to update here n there but it’s hard.3 -

My why
This is an important question, but such a hard one for me! Years ago I would have said to look better, but it seems no matter my weight, I can always find something not to be happy with. So I have worked on just being happy with who I am and the way I look. I love doing things outside, so now I am more concerned with having a body that is able to hike, run, ski, etc and feel really good! I have also realized how what I eat affects how I feel. Even though I still struggle with this, I know that if I eat a lot at night, or a bunch of junk food that I wake up feeling terrible. So, I want to be able to listen to my body and make choices that keep me feeling great.2 -

I knew it would be a gain today. Like I discussed before, I had some vegan cheese I didn’t want to expire and made lasagna and pizza. Both use rice flour which is high in calories along with the cheese. I did not complete the calculations until after eating. One piece of lasagna is 455 calories. The pizza was also more than 400 calories a slice. So glad I’m in this challenge on MFP to see the effects of what we eat and our lifestyle in detail on how it effects our progress. I have some major work this week to see a loss for next weigh-in. Wish me luck💫3 -

I promise I’m still here guys! Last week when I was doing the accountability I lost track with what I was doing and I just decided to go back to this on the new week! I’m proud of myself! First day going strong! I need to get more water in, but I’m definitely gonna make it an important thing tomorrow 😊2 -

My Why is to get healthier so I can take better care of my husband and be around for our two adult sons. My husband has a few major health concerns that will be part of our future going forward. I get overwhelmed sometimes, but I know getting my excess weight off will help me feel better and sleep better and have more energy to take care of my family. I need to intentionally decrease my stress level, and walking outside (and prayer!) helps me with that. Thankful for this group!
In April, I’d like to lose 10 more pounds at least. I’ll be 65 on April 6th 🥳2 -

Exercise: yes. I was originally going to say no because today was supposed to be a rest day, BUT I decided to do a short recovery bike ride to 1. keep my streak alive and 2. loosen up my legs a bit as they were tight from being bent over in the garden on Saturday. It wasn't much of a ride, Peloton says I burned a whole 64 calories, and I probably burn that much just sitting still! 😂 But then I ended up going out and doing more yard work, making my legs tight again today (viscous circle here). So between that and vacuuming and mopping the floor I'm going to go with yes. ☺️1 -

@Mrscanmore Exactly! It's about being able to do the things that you enjoy. Looking forward to the warmer weather so that I can get outside and ride my bike in the sunshine, rather than the dark basement.1 -

@BlissfulK This! One of the most important things that I've learned here is how what I eat one day will impact the scale the next. And that it's usually just a temporary thing and not the end of the world. I could have saved myself a lot of misery if I'd learned that sooner. And you do not need luck, you've got this.2 -

@melissan84 I don't blame you for counting that as exercise. My daughter is a nurse and she says it's nothing for her to walk 5 miles in a day just up and down the hallways. I hope today is little less hectic for you though so that you can sit for a few minutes here and there.1 -
