Another vegetable gardener in the group - you'll love it. If your indoor starts don't germinate, it is usually because the soil is not warm enough. I have to put mine all on heated mats up here - it makes a huge difference in the rate of germination. Then once they show their little green selves, lots and lots of sunlight or plant lights are needed to give them a good boost so that they are strong and ready when you plant them outside. Good luck!4 -

Apologies. We had Passover Seder last night. Before bed, I was 151.5, so it could have been worse. It was yummy, though, with chocolate ice cream & chocolate macaroons. 🙂 I hope I’ll make it up this week.
Merry Passover, Resurrection Day, & Ramadan Mubarak!5 -
WTG for making top team this week! It was not one of the spectacular weeks, but there were those good, steady, moderate losses, and 57% of the team was in the green! Excellent job. Congrats to @veronica1359 @eggfreak @ells_bellz - you led the week brilliantly!
I was so excited to head out on a FAST walk today - after several days of slow walks with the old dog and the old happy pappy, it sure felt good to stride out, climb the big hills, and enjoy the woods. I hope you all had a lovely Sunday!
As usual, I'm late with the Sunday reminders - here they are! Plus the Monday people too - let's keep up our top position if we can this week!

Last night I took Brad on a surprise date to a new virtual reality gaming center in Airdrie. We played for an hour and by the end my neck and arms were sore.... didn't expect that. We had a lot of fun.. nothing we'd ever tried before. We then went to a local Italian restaurant we hadn't been to for ages for supper.. I was really proud of the choices I made. Some days are easier than others when it comes to going out and staying on track at the same time, but I felt very centered last night.
Happy to report that the weather in Alberta was much better today! Better than the poor Manitobans that are still getting pelted with snow... talked to my Dad on the phone for Easter this morning and he is needing the good weather vibes for sure.
Brad and I went out to the mountains today.. first time since about a month ago. We recharged our batteries with a nice hike up Tunnel Mountain and then stopped at our usual pizza spot in Canmore on the way home. Still had energy for my bike ride and a quick strength workout. Two bigger meals today instead of the normal three with a couple snacks (and some Easter chocolate) to fill in the gaps.
Monday is still a work from home day in my new hybrid model, so that puts a little less pressure on getting to bed early tonight. Vegging out with a little tea and catching up on here before bed.
Hope everyone had a great Easter.. wishing you all a great start to the week ahead!6 -

I never been so happy to lose .4 lbs! I for sure thought I gained like 5lbs minimum. I haven’t tracked for more than a week. I exercised less this week and ate less veggies this week. I am very relieved at .4 lbs 😂 I need to do better!4 -
@eggfreak .... oh, the T word .... we have to get our taxes done too! I threw all my paperwork in a closet as part of the home rearranging before my mom moved in, so I know I'm dreading it more this year because I feel so disorganized. Problem for another day
@kellie_erin How do you feel the job interview went? Lots of change coming for you... are you still enjoying Orangetheory these days?
@veronica1359 Got your steps.. thank you. Hope NYC has been a blast... great first full week on the step team! It sure paid off.. awesome results this week for the team weigh-in!
@ells_bellz Sounds like a hectic job for sure. I am impressed by cooks who can handle all that pressure. You must be absolutely exhausted when you get home from your shifts. Great work and congrats on your leaderboard placement!
@jugar Great example of making exercise fit into your circumstances... you could have just skipped it or said "nah.. this isn't my usual intensity", but SOMETHING is always better than nothing... always a good reminder! And I'm sure your dad was thrilled to have the change of scenery with you as his walking buddy! Glad you saw your sis too3 -

Sorry I dissapeared for a bit!
I'm stressed as usual but I'm also having to wait for a doctor's appointment to discuss some worrying blood results and I'm finding the waiting difficult. I did, to my own detriment, look everything up on Google, which has ramped up the anxiety as expected.
I seem to operate only in 2 modes- either in the zone of mindful eating or completely letting go. I hope I master moderation one day, but so far, no luck.
Short intro- just turned 40, busy mum in the UK and studying for a second career in mental health. Currently in my last year at college, and hopefully finally being able to work if I pass the year. The stress and anxiety is high as I've essentially given 3 years of my life to get here and so much hinges on this. In the weightloss department- overweight/obese my whole adult life with lots of attempts at dieting but never once kept the weight off. Maybe this is my year5 -
Well, yesterday was a blowout but I did have two successful 'no's - nearly opened the bag of potato chips to go with an evening wine but said 'no' and also said no and threw in the trash 3 'milk chocolate flavored bunnies'....I know how that tastes - if I'm going to eat chocolate, I want to eat real and good chocolate. Got a second wind and did some hefty yard work in the evening. I don't think my 3200 calories expended took care of what I ate all day BUT surely it made a dent. Back to better and less today.3

I had a wonderful Easter Sunday, filled with family, church, and way too much food. My win was working out before church. My loss was ALL THE CARBS. My stomach feels yucky today.
I am up today, ready to workout. Let's hope this stomach can handle it!5 -
So, I'm in the midst of something that will typically drive me to eat...anything and lots of it. Last day to do my taxes, looking for the paperwork that I tucked in a "safe place" and CAN NOT FIND IT. Posting here instead.3

I will be glad to give up chocolate again, I think. I started each day with good intentions but it hasn't taken long at all for those to fall by the wayside. I've also moved less, despite the weather being good, due to being busy at work.
We tried a new recipe in the air fryer last night which was paprika coated pork chops. Had it with corn on the cob and jacket potatoes and probably too much butter! But it was all very tasty and nice to have something different, as well as cooked fresh.
I haven't stopped this weekend between batch cooking and chores. I wanted to get the 'home' to do list to stop scrolling and I have achieved that, so happy with progress. Still have some bits to do inside and out today; including emptying and dismantling a set of drawers that I'm taking up to Yorkshire tomorrow for Mom. Not quite certain where I will put everything from all the drawers, but that can be future-DD265's problem because now-DD265 wants more space in the bedroom.3 -

@ashleycarole86 the interview went okay... I tend to get anxious and ramble a bit so hopefully that didn't affect their perception of me too much. The job would be downtown, which I'm dreading - it would mean a huge change to my routine. I love the Orangetheory that I go to right now (the coaches are amazing and I've made a really good friend there) but it's just not feasible to get to if I'm working downtown 😫. I like to plan things but I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself with this. Anyway! I should find out some time this week if I get it or get to continue on in the process (I'm not clear if there's going to be more rounds of interviews or not)3

Monday check-in
This is laughable, but this is what my pattern is (You'll see I fluctuate between 137-142 pretty regularly)
PW: 138

No really, last week was a joke. I had an intern which meant I didn't really get to work out during lunch, and then my fiance's birthday was Saturday and well, you know, yesterday was pretty calorific too
Honestly though, the cheesecake I made for Saturday was worth the gain lol. He loves peanut butter stuff so I made a PB cheesecake with a nutter butter crust, a layer of mini marshmallows on top, and then covered in a PB caramel. The nutrition info? 736kcal and 98g of fat for 1/16 of the cake...so bad for you but soooooo tasty.
Although since my fiance was on his 'let's get married sooner rather than later' kick, he agreed that we can start working towards getting a bit leaner for when it happens. They have another Rez Meltdown starting in a few weeks that focuses on lean muscle gains so I think I might sign up for it as added motivation.2 -
I slept wrong and gave myself a kink in my neck so all my motivations to exercise have turned into motivations to nap. I'm trying to convince myself that I should get out of bed. It's so warm and comfy. There's still a couple of things on the to-do list I could accomplish today.... But it's so warm and comfy.....
D'oh!2 -

As to moderation - it's a tough one. I still find that having an occasional planned no-holds-barred kind of day on a regular basis helps me with that one. The rest of the time I can be in that mindful eating zone, but if I don't ever have a mindless mad day, it becomes hard to stick to it. Of course, it has to be planned for only one day or meal! It is sometimes hard to get started on the next day, but usually once the day is started and tracked, it goes ok. I hope you find a method that works for you to not go from one extreme to the other, but to keep them in balance. Good luck! So, I'm in the midst of something that will typically drive me to eat...anything and lots of it. You are so smart. Post Post Post instead of Munch Munch Munch!
@MoonlitMuse holy moly! going from cheesecake and intern to getting ready for your wedding - you are living the wild times! Your Rez Meltdown sounds like it might be a fun time.
@kellie_erin hang in there, kiddo! Keep us updated on the interview news, ok?
@PlaneMonkey --- pssst! wakey wakey! put a nice warm thing around your neck, and you'll have the warm of bed with the being up and about I make neck-warming things by filling an old sock (a nice big one from my taller half!) with white rice. Put it in the microwave for a few minutes and it is a fantastic heating pad. Then you have the motivation to start to turn your head, stretch your shoulders... Good luck!!7 -
Nice to see all of our participants on the leaderboard for something!

Happy Tuesday!
The ground is all white out there. I think I'll clean the fridge. I love snow, but this is the sloppy stuff with mud underneath. I'll just let it melt in peace.
Tuesdays are always good days for questions. So far in April, 10 team members have put on a bit of weight, and 14 have lost. I think it is time for all of us to step up to help improve that ratio by the end of the month. Most of those gains are fairly small, and it is doable to get back into the green.
What helps break a stuck streak? We have seen some great examples here. @eggfreak springs to mind. Sylvia was stuck for a good while and is now leading the team for this month. Proof that it is possible!! Share some ideas, including things that do not work. Give a hand to a team member who might need some encouragement. New and crazy strategies, old tried and trues - whatever you've got1 -
This neck pain is kicking my butt. When I finally got out of bed yesterday I was convinced to go outside immediately and help with the last of the yard work so alas there was no hot pad on my neck until I was back indoors. We have an electric heat pad that I've worn for most of the day and I've been rolling my shoulder and neck with a lacrosse ball against a door frame as much as I can stand. Sneezing is excruciating. I'm hopeful this will ease soon.
We don't have snow accumulation here, just wet slush and mixed precipitation so the motivation to go outside is null. I had great losses on the scale and did lots of exercise last week but things have tipped back the other way a bit more than intended with Sunday dinner/Monday leftovers and this neck pain. I'm going to be very conscious of my portion size at dinner to do my best to stay in the green for tomorrow. I still have 1.5 weeks left in my personal challenge to make it down below 190 by 'boat launch day'. That's my tried and true method. I need a short term motivator like an event or a reward to keep myself logging consistently and staying away from the red wine.
Last year I used a bathing suit as a motivator, this year is the boat. Next event I'd like to use as a push will be the last weekend of May when extended family I haven't seen in years will come to Ottawa for a gathering to remember my dad. There will be a lot of gardening etc to do at my mother's house before the event so that should help me burn some calories.1 -
@PlaneMonkey I hope your neck gets better soon - those are a horrible drag. The sneezing thing is the worst! Your motivation-by-event is a good method, and I think you are right to make them short term. When the timeline is too long, it is hard to keep up the momentum. Even with a long one, having specific milestone goals along the way is helpful.
My fridge is clean! Part of the cleaning was finding the last batch of apple filling I made last fall hiding in the freezer. It has now been thawed, covered with buckwheat spice topping, and is deliciously cooling off in the kitchen. I had a very restrained dinner so I can have some - it smells amazing.1 -
@jugar Oh dear...I definitely fall into the gain category lately! I have been having such a hard time getting it all together. I get parts of things going but not enough things to make a difference. I think I just keep trying to go back to where I was in September. But September was a very long time ago. I can't just jump back to that routine. I need to baby step my way back up to that level again. I don't want to take baby steps! I want to take big huge steps...but I just keep falling on my face. Humph🙄
I have a consultation with a wellness coach this Thursday. We have had some phone conversations already. I am 90% sure we will starting working together. Just need to confirm she is a good fit in person. I will do an inbody scan which looks at muscle mass, fat and visceral fat ratios. Should be interesting. I told my husband I have been having a hard time and I just need some help. My husband took a lot of my attention this past school year. He needed it and I would do it again in a heart beat. But there were definitely some negative effects for me. Luckily my husband is in a better work situation and will most likely interview and see what else is out there. Now it's my turn to focus on my needs again. I'd be lying if I didn't admit I am a bit in mourning for the ground I gave up this year. It makes me mad and sad but I just have to put the work in again.3 -
@conleywoods it really does suck when it feels like you're starting from farther back than where you were but you have learned so much on your journey that you will have those losses again! I can't wait to see your stats show up on my feed of 30 minutes of 'ballet beautiful', etc. Glad things with your husband's job are settling so you can balance the focus more back to your needs. The give and take is what good relationships are made of. I look forward to learning more about the wellness coach process. Hope it gives you focus.1
