Greetings from Toulouse!
What a wonderful time so far (the work hasn't started yet!). I met up with an old friend last evening and for a long walk and lunch today. It is so good to catch up. I love that she is very careful with her eating - I did not have to resist pastries, fancy French meals with such deliciousness it is impossible to stop eating, etc. We had dinner in a sweet vegetarian place 2 minutes from where I am staying, and lunch today at a simple stirfry/bowl meals place. Easy peasy. Tonight, I'm on my own! Watch out!
I actually enjoy shopping, or at least somewhat, in a place where the shops are tiny and the people there actually help you find things just the way you want (maybe it's my Québecois accent when I speak French??). I bought make-up (serious YIKES) to go with the fancy dress. I promise I'll get someone to take a photo In any case, it is like summer here (to me - everyone else is wearing jackets...), I have practiced, done a bit of Pilates, walked and walked. Jet lag is not going to get me, that's for sure. I slept like a bear last night.
Tomorrow the work begins - I'll get picked up and brought to the little village we'll be working, and rehearsals begin after lunch. I think I'm ready
I have caught up on all your weigh-ins and requests, so all is well. I love that struggles are being discussed, and thank you @jane_76 for your "monster" post. It is so important to spill all in here, and share strategies for getting through the rough bits. And hopefully outnumbering them with good ones. As to your question @jane_76 you can always request a week's pass, but it is not always the best idea. We need to post those terrible weigh-ins and let the number speak to us, hopefully in a friendly voice. To remind us that next time we can make a plan and feel better after a holiday, an emotional rollercoaster, or whatever the issue was. So let me know if you really want the week off, or if you want the "bad" number in there so that you can clock an amazing one over the next couple of weeks
@eggfreak and @micki48 (and maybe others) you have both been in a long period of uncertainty, change, loss of mojo. There is a lot of resolve to reverse the direction, and a great deal of fatigue fighting it. The longer it lasts, the harder it is to fight - don't get too discouraged! You have great ideas about what to do, some tools in your toolbox. Even if it is only one day once in a while, have a perfect one. On me. Cheers!
I'm off to wander some more and find some good dinner. And get another good sleep afterwards. Hugs to all!8 -
Never forget - this team is the little wheels in the second picture7

@jugar - sounds like a lovely start to your travels. Exciting that you will be performing!
Ugh, for so many reasons I'd like to take a pass on this week, but I will go ahead and log it.

All I can say is... ouch.
Dusting myself off, learning from this tough week, and hoping for brighter (and lighter) days ahead.7 -

Just popping in before I close my eyes and get some sleep.
@welsh_cariad if you are being bullied at work, try to speak out. I know that that's easier said than done, but if you don't feel comfortable speaking out, perhaps you can find someone trustworthy at work that you can confide in? An ally?
Failing that, just come back here for support - we've got you.
Adult bullies are just juvenile bullies who grew up without correction or any interventions.
And maybe there are others suffering at the hands of this bully?
Thinking of you and sending positive, supportive vibes.

So the past couple days have been slightly rough for me. Not the whole day, just part of it. Last night I went out to dinner for work and of course there was appetizers, the entree, and dessert. I couldn't say no when it was right in front of me. Then today, our officd manager bought us crumbl cookies. Omg they are delicious and I should have said no. I don't know if you all have heard of them, but they are huge cookies served warm or chilled depending on the type. I got a warm, gooey, 560 calorie chocolate chip cookie 😳🤤 It doesn't help that I didn't reach my step goal yesterday or today. I really hope I can get back on track tomorrow.6

I started this post at 8:30am and it's now nearly 10 pm and I'm finally getting around to finish it. Wow the day go away from me!
Hockey was ok last night. We've gained a new player on the team who's a reliable capable defence person and it is so nice to know that I have 'backup' on the ice if I want to play more offensively in situations. Usually I would just hang back at the blue line because I knew my partner was never fast enough to catch anyone who got by me but from now on I will have the freedom that comes from trusting I have solid backup. It's like a huge weight has been lifted from me. Loving this feeling.
The reason my post is so delayed is I was late getting ready and had to drop everything because I took half the day off to go to my previous job for a couple of retirement luncheons of old colleagues. It was great to catch up with so many former co-workers (I've been in the new job 1.5 years now) but every conversation came around to 'I didn't recognize you, you're looking so good'. while on one hand it's always nice to hear someone say you're looking well, but after the 4th person I start to wonder just how sh*tty did I look before?!? Lol. I got to the current weight I've plateaued at one month after leaving that job, so the transition had already started... I guess they just remember chubby Courtney because they saw her longer? I worked there for 4 years and yo-yo'd much like I do now, only 45lbs heavier. Chances are it has less to do with the weight and more to do with the fact I wore makeup and didn't have a ponytail for the first time ever (for those who don't know I was an aircraft maintenance engineer doing mechanical work) but it still kinda felt off to have it be the #1 topic of the day.
@jugar enjoy Toulouse! Can't wait to see photos. So exciting.

@lauren_989 YouTube videos come up in my feed of people eating and reviewing crumbl cookies. They look amazing! Not what you need to hear right now, but you're the first person I know who's mentioned eating one!
Acknowledging the slump and knowing you need to get turned around is half the battle! Come back tomorrow and report in... hopefully you can find ways to make Saturday a great step day and that will likely go a long way to making you feel better! I know that usually works for me
@PlaneMonkey I know what you mean. I have one person at work who literally stops dead in his tracks in the hall every time he sees me, still.. even though we've been back in the office since April and my weight loss should be old news by now. I think how today made you feel is why a lot of people think commenting on someone's body should be avoided. Glad you were able to enjoy the conversation despite the constant comments on your appearance!3 -

Thank you all for the kind thoughts. I am trying to be gentle with myself this week. Allowing myself to grieve for the end of that situation. It was my first serious relationship after being divorced. Whenever I start to get really down, I remind myself that he and I broke up for a reason. That I can't be all hateful that he found someone before I did. If it was the other way around, I wouldn't be here sad and mopey. I would be celebrating a new adventure!
I want to get back into salsa dancing so, perhaps this will be the push I need.

Hi all! I have not got Internet very well here so will be brief!
I have updated the weights to date, I think. @ashleycarole86 I will be hopefully able to get on some time tomorrow but if not I'll get in touch as soon as I can! I hope the tallies aren't too crazy.
First rehearsal time today was delicious! And that was with only one of the guys. Tomorrow we start for real. Have a great weekend all - I'll catch up soon.8 -

So today was a lot better! Thank you @ashleycarole86 for the tip! I started my day at the gym this morning and got double my goal steps for the day! Eating was good too, no crumbl cookies today 😊 I feel like my mind is in a better place today.

So glad to hear that @lauren_989 ... starting the day with exercise is such a good feeling!
Sounds good @jugar , I'm all ready to go for the morning! Can't wait to hear how rehersals are going.
Today was a blast!
Started with brunch with my husband and friends at their house, followed by coffee and a walk with a coworker going through tough times, and then tonight was dinner out with my aunt from out of town, my Mom, and my husband.
I will get my 10,000 steps, so that's great!
Only ate two meals, but they (especially dinner) were bigger!
We plan to head out for a bike ride tomorrow as it's still warm, so I'll keep the exercise up!

Boy @jugar you’ve got that so right. I’m so off target. Long periods of being off kilter. I was also going to ask for an excused week. But it was more to keep the team from having to absorb my gain. I have also lost my long standing streak of days checking in. I know how to fix it but I’m not going to do it. I’m facing that I deserved to lose it. I fear Ive lost my toolbox, but I’m going to look for it and see if there is a tool or two to help repair this mess.
Enjoy your trip.

Happy Sunday!
The internet is now up and running, and I have the morning off here. It feels good to have a bit of time to myself - this is one gabby bunch! The German violinist is definitely and Olympic-level talker. Fun, but exhausting. I'm glad we're here to play music so that the talking gets a break
Here is a hilarious street decoration from Toulouse - you may need to zoom a bit to see what is actually hanging over the street. Vive la France!
