Ok. I've had joint pain and swelling since last Friday. Friday I ended up in bed. I had some relief but not total relief over the weekend. I feel like today is the start of last Friday. Of course we've had a crap ton of rain on Friday and we are supposed to have it again today. And then cooler temperatures again by the weekend.8 -

(Day of Week) Weigh-in Monday
PW: 9st 9lbs (technically 9 st 9.8lbs)
CW: 9st 9bs (technically 9st 9.4lbs, so maybe I have lost 0.5lbs! bring on next week!)
LTD: 0 lbs
@zog_a_log When you log your weigh-ins, please log in pounds (just to keep everything consistent)...I can go and use a translator program, but I don't want there to be any errors. For that reason, we ask everyone to log as pounds...please repost because it appears you have a loss from your "technically" comment...let me know!
Thanks!

Good morning Shape Shifters. I had a decent day. I did some reading, Netflix, gaming, a lot of laundry with my new dryer and a Dance with Deepti workout in the evening. The increased stepping blocks didn't do as much as I was hoping, so I figure it is time to get off my lazy butt and do something. Instead of a handful of zone minutes, I got 40 of them with the youtube workout so it was well worth it. I had fun with it as well and I am only a little bit sore today. I would like to do more than 3 a week, but I am starting slow. This is the one I did last night: https://youtu.be/_5lVcFSMZag
Happy Monday everyone
You're inspiring all of us, @Pupowl ...so how does Tinus react when you get up and start working out? Is he a "jump in with you" cat or an "I'll just ignore her" cat?! I'm starting to do extra steps in 500 increments, as it takes the pressure off of my knees in trying to do several thousand at once. Especially on the weekends when I'm at home. At work is a different story because I'm always running around the building...
Hope you have a great day today!
Jessica2 -
@jessicakrall8
He will ignore me most of the time. Sometimes he rolls on the desk in front of the screen and wants to be petted. Yesterday he tried to attack my feet a few times. So I do need to keep an eye on him a bit, to make sure he doesn't get in the way too much!
It is a good idea to add small bits at once. That really does add up! I always step whenever I am waiting for something. I sometimes even step while reading, holding the book in my right hand since the fitbit is on my left. It is a little silly though.2 -
Hello Everyone! I'm excited about the new year!
I love reading the posts about everyone, getting to know everyone a bit better. Welcome everyone new and thank you to the people who welcomed me!
My name is Melissa and I'm 53. I have two kids, a daughter, 26, who is in her final year of law school at CU Boulder and will get married in June 2024, and a son, 22, who is a finance major at IU in Bloomington, Indiana.
I lived most of my life in Houston, Texas. In 2013, we were on a family ski vacation in Colorado, when my husband suggested we come live in this small ski town for 6 months. He'd just sold his company so was officially retired. I was enmeshed in a fight with the Texas legislator over some ridiculous new high school graduation requirements - 15 exit exams required for a high school diploma at a public school. So we moved.
My 16 year old daughter was here in Colorado for a week and informed us she was never leaving so we better figure it out. My 12 year old son cried over his football team and friends and missed Texas desperately. Luckily, he found his place on a basketball team before too long.
So now we split our time between the two places, taking care of family and medical things in Houston and trying to enjoy the beauty of a small mountain town when in Colorado.
I've always struggled with my weight although I'm pretty active. I started running marathons in 1997 and did two last year. My goal is to get solidly in the healthy BMI range and below 150.
Again- welcome everyone! Looking forward to a great year!

Just checking in, and another brief introduction for the new January thread.
I’m 32 years old, I live in the UK and I have a 4 year old child. I enjoy reading, driving, music and true crime podcasts. I am in my first year of a criminology degree, which I’m really enjoying.
I joined MFP in 2019 when I was around 184 lbs, and I managed to get down to the 130s, if my mind serves me right. I felt happy and confident at my new weight, but it slowly crept back on. Restarting MFP last week, my weight was 161 lbs, and I have been hiding myself away with loose fitting clothing…again.
I had success with joining a group on MFP in 2019, and I’m feeling positive that F2F will help me get to my ideal weight again. The weekly weigh-ins, check-ins and support is something I really need.
Shape Shifters seems like a really great team! Thanks again for having me

I’m super excited to have lost anything this week since most of my time I was on vacation and not eating in a calorie deficit, but we did stay active with some hiking and lots of walking and I got back on track when I got home a couple of days ago, so I think those things helped. I recently hit 180 days of logging consistently in MFP and am so excited to have maintained this through the holidays, but I have noticed a bit of a plateau the last few weeks so I’m excited for a new challenge to keep things exciting!8 -
Hello everybody,
I am Natalie, 55 years old from the DC area in the US but originally from Bolivia. Moved to the US after high school. Married for 30 years to an amazing skiny man that I adore. 2 kids: 37 yo son with 2 grandkids, and 28 daughter, recently engaged, with 2 4-legged grandchildren a Bernese and a Maltise. And my little companion, Florence, my Frenchie that got hurt last year and was paralyzed, taking her to PT so she can regain some normalcy.
For the longest time, I was super tiny but after my daughter was born those pounds doubled. from 100 lbs to 205 lbs. The stressful job did not help at all.
During the pandemic, and working from home since, I started going for a walk around the block and completly out of breath at the end, then little by little dropped about 70 lbs. I still have a bit more to go. I find that exercising is now part of my life that helps me centered, focused and with a more positive attitude. Plus if I don't take care of myself, I cannot take care of my family.
Love to travel and love to cook and bake for my family (my biggest problem, because bolivian food is not lean) so MFP helps my concience make good choices...most of the time.
Looking forward to a good new year and make some new friends along the way.

I have changed my Weigh-in Day to Sundays (from Thursdays), since the first day of 2023 was Sunday.
I plan to focus on good nutrition (including giving up alcoholic beverages completely) as well as to average 10,000 steps per day on most days. I also plan to incorporate strength and flexibility training on a regular basis.
Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2023!💗5 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Yesterday I went to the grocery store in the morning and went to a different one in the afternoon. It was a very wet day, but I managed to bike in between the rain. I got a birthday card for my mom that I will be sending tomorrow. She is visiting again next week, so that is when she will get her presents. I also got a cute lucky cat ornament. Since Christmas is over, it was 50% off which is what I was waiting for. I had too many snacks. It is time to go back to buying only dark chocolate bars. While I did very well with only eating one treat for a while, it seems my self control has run out! With the dark chocolate I can still satisfy my craving for something sweet without having any desire to overeat on it; one or two small pieces is always enough.
Happy Tuesday everyone

My name is Julie and I live in Keller, Texas, just a little north of Fort Worth. I just turned 55, have been married for 33 years and have an 18 year old son (Jason) at Texas Tech. I'm looking to lose weight to be more healthy and more mobile.
@Pupowl - love the picture of Tinus
@Walela617 - I'm doing dry January again this year. Last year I lasted until spring break, but it definitely seems to make a difference in weight loss even if you stay in calorie range. Wishing you luck.
To all the new people - Welcome!3 -

I haven't introduced myself yet... My name is Alan and this is the year that I get my physical and mental health back! I went through a divorce last year and didn't make great decisions with coping.... I decided to start using MyFitnessPal to help keep myself accountable, measure my efforts, and participate in a community....
I just joined a wellness center that has a track on its main level with a suspended track on the second floor.... I have found that I enjoy jogging/running on the track much more than the treadmill... I am contemplating on training for a marathon this year.... however, I haven't been able to commit as of yet.
I look forward to getting to know you all more as we all pursue our health goals/journey! Happy New Years!7 -

Hello Everyone, I'm alittle late in giving my weigh-in. I am still learning how to navigate the site. I would love to join the Step Challenge and if someone could tell me the day I need to weigh in that would be wonderful. Thank you. I look forward to being in this Group!3 -
@GwenS23 - You can select your weigh-in day. Any day of the week will work as long as you consistently report each week on that day so you can monitor your progress over time. The weekly stats are usually calculated early Saturday morning so that might influence your choice.
Welcome to the Shape Shifters team!

Good morning Shape Shifters. I see there are still some new people joining, so welcome! I had a pretty cozy day. Worked some on my jigsaw puzzle, received a postcrossing postcard from Australia, had Tinus napping on my lap for a while and drank lots of tea. In the evening I did another Dance with Deepti workout (this one). It was a little too much jumping and with some steps I couldn't keep up with her speed, so I will be removing this one from my bookmarked list. I still have a lot more to test. After my workout I took a shower and spent some time reading in bed before sleeping. I recently got a new Ikea lamp because I don't have any good lightd in my livingroom and now I can puzzle after dark if I wanted to, yay!
Happy Wednesday everyone
