Morning all and happy July 4th to all our American teammates.
Feeling off in the stomach since last night... on the fence whether I should be going into the office today. That guilt to show up at any cost I tell ya..3 -

Hello everyone! It's already July. Well, here I am in Vermont. I live with my OH and 3 cats near the Connecticut River which runs between New Hampshire and Vermont.
Most of my adult life has followed a similar path to many of us here with yo-yoing pre and post childbirth, restrictive diets, and all that. Now that I'm in the 65.5 yr range, I'm learning how to request 5'2" servings as well as cooperation from OH to tell me when they add something I'm trying to avoid (e.g. wheat and heavy sauces) so I have the option of refraining from it. I'm working on the FODMAP plan and find it very helpful. Keeping foods that ferment in the gut to a smaller intake is the aim and it's already helping my general digestion.
I'll write more a bit later today. Right now, we're heading across the river (in a car, don't get too excited by the prospect of swimming across the Connecticut river) to see an art show at the town hall.
My younger daughter may pop over with or without her beau for a visit. We'll see.

Well I got most of the weight off that I gained from my parents being here! I am planning for another good week coming up and we don't have any sweets around to enjoy for july 4th. We are grilling out hot dogs and hamburgers. I also did get my 5k walk/jog in this morning! It was only 80F with feel like temperature 99F 🥵 I finished 2 hours ago and feel like I just finally cooled down! But I would prefer this heat than the cold of winter!3 -
@lauren_989 We lucked out and my husband's aunt and uncle bought a lake place and a boat really close to our house. They get bored and like the company. They have two boys who are married but neither couple has kids yet or live near by. Our kids are the honorary grand kids for them. Excellent loss and nice job on the 5k.
@jugar Your young horse stories bring back memories of my horse. I was 14 and bought him as a 3 year old with my babysitting money. I remember taking him to a parade out of town. He had enough of that by the end of the parade. It was probably all the spray on glitter and marching bands that sent him over the edge! He learned a cool trick where he would grab the shank of his bit (the part that goes in his mouth)and hold it in his front teeth some how, so you can't steer or stop him. Then he starts running full speed through the little town looking for his horse trailer. He was fast as he is from triple A race horse stock and giant at 16.3 hands. He could cover some ground. He also bolted while I still had the American flag in one hand! He was so naughty and you could tell he was always really enjoying himself. Glad your horse survived the evils of weed wackers. My horse could never get over the horror of his nemesis the llama.

@lauren_989 I know it might break the bubble, but the last weight I have for you was 214.2 - let me know if that is wildly off! In any case, you have certainly lost 22.4 pounds since joining us!2

@jugar I weighed in last Thursday. I'm pretty sure I posted it but I could have forgotten 🤷🏼♀️
@conleywoods that lake is beautiful! What a gorgeous view!
We had neighbors set off fireworks tonight and they were awesome! Illegal in NC, but you can get some really good ones south of the border in SC!

Morning everyone!
After my mini stomach issue yesterday morning I rallied and was fine for the day.... not sure what that was about. Took a friend for her birthday lunch and made a really good choice. Had a good dinner too and then had a couple of snacks afterwards that put me over. Still doing well for the week but looking to have a better day today.
I also get distracted at work and don't drink my water.. I think drinking water at the office is an easy place for lots of people but I get chained to my desk and don't get up and refill. Will try harder today.3 -
Oh wow! Is it July already?! Sorry I missed my weigh in @jugar. My July starting weight is 207.4.
M y July starting weight is 207.4
I don’t know where the time went. We had to say goodbye to our kitty, Chloe. She took a bad turn and was giving us lots of signals that she was in pain. Vet believes she certainly had cancer. She ate all the time and was down to 6 pounds. She was once 14 pounds so you can imagine how tiny she was. She was a sweet girl for 16 years.
@PlaneMonkey you look gorgous! Great job on the hairstyle!
@wdalzell5401 Happy Retirement! What an exciting and hopefully relaxing time for you.
@YinxFed Happy 60th birthday 🥳 So glad you have your son there to celebrate with you.
@kalli glad to have you back with us.
@jugar Sorry to hear about your foot being stomped. Glad it’s doing better. And 22 pounds of strawberries 🍓 YUM!
@conleywoods Your workout room looks great and those piggies are so lucky to be part of your family. Love the photo at the lake.
I need to make a plan. I’ve been busy but summers are unstructured and there is more “fun eating”. My pants are getting tight and I need to use that Pilates room I claimed when we moved here.
Got to get moving. But I will check in later and drink my water today. .

Hi, I'm Kristi and I live near Spokane Washington in the US. I'm 40 but I will be turning 41 this month and celebrating my 16th wedding anniversary too! My husband and I have 3 kids ages 14, 12 and 8. I'm a pediatric occupational therapist for the schools. But it's summer vacation right now. My husband is a teacher so he is off all summer too. Right now I'm up close to my highest weight at 245. I started at 255 in 2019. I had to take a break from weight loss to finish my masters and gained 15 lbs. June was an easing in month for me and July will require more fine tuning. My plan is to set up a reward system for weight loss. I will earn my reward every 5 lbs lost. I really want new makeup from Bobbi Brown's new company Jones Road. But I need more makeup like I need a whole in my head. I was going to replace stuff as I run out but I don't put a lot of makeup on even though I wear it 5 days a week. So I won't need makeup for a very long time. Each time I loose 5 lbs I can order another item.3

Hi all I'm Joann. I'm a 42 year old RN working full time in as a public health nurse. I'm married with an 9 year old daughter and year old German Shepard dog. I am excited for the summer because I'll be able to relax after a stressful last few months and get some better habits down.
@conleywoods Lucky to be able to get away to such a beautiful place
I'm hoping to just work on consistency with snacking at night. It's a habit I've slipped into and know if I get this undercontrol I can lose some weight.

Hey everyone! I have been MIA since Thursday or so of last week. It has been a hectic week. My in-laws were in town and I had a lot of time off work because yesterday was a holiday in the U.S., but also it was my birthday! I definitely let myself enjoy my birthday. I tracked my calories, but didn't limit them. Today, I am back on track.
My goals are to lose weight, feel better in my clothes, and not hate every picture that is taken of me. I am working towards these goals by tracking my calories, and committing to healthier eating and more exercise. My primary sources of exercise have been walking and spin class, and recently I added CrossFit to the mix. I have a desk job, so my daily step count goal is 6,000 steps and workout goal is at least 4 days/week at 30 minutes/day.
Yesterday was my weigh-in. SW: 186.6 PW: 184.4, CW 184.4 ... so I didn't lose any this last week, but I also didn't gain any, so that is a win!
Here is the previous week exercise/step count that I intended to post on Sunday...
Sunday 6/25 - 63 steps, no exercise - Sunday is my rest day, but also on this day I had a bad migraine that incapacitated me
Monday 6/26 - 10,707 steps, 33 minutes of spin, 15 minutes of walking
Tuesday 6/27 - 10,152 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit, 30 minutes of walking
Wednesday 6/28 - 8,705 steps, 34 minutes of spin, 15 minutes of walking
Thursday 6/29 - 7,913 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit, 15 minutes of walking
Friday 6/30 - 9,932 steps, 1 hour of spin, 1 hour of CrossFit, 30 minutes of walking
Saturday 7/1 - 7,801 steps, 1 hour of spin4 -
My first way in with you all.

Not much lost, but no gain so I'll take it. My goals are to stop snacking so much at night and increase my step count to at least 5000 steps a day. I also ordered a wall Pilates book so I can try to work out a little more.3 -
I about melted today. Just picking my red currants had the sweat running off me - definitely going to have to get out earlier tomorrow! Keep cool if you're somewhere hot, folks.

I'm wrapping up the day and I hit my calorie range, Woo-hoo! I don't know why it's been so hard but I'm determined to get it under control. I also got my first weight lifting session in for the week. Felt nice working out in my more spacious room. Spent time with the kids today while we ran some errands. My daughter helped me brush the newer long haired guinea pig sine he isn't a big fan of that. His hair is getting fabulously long and I need to figure out how to give him a haircut. I'm concerned it will look like a full body bowl cut ✂️.
I also want to work on some specific goals and actionable items for myself this month. Still in the development stages but I would like to have them together by the end of the week.6 -

Greetings Friends,
This morning I went to a yoga class - in the forest! I went with my daughter-in-law and neither of us had been to a real life yoga class for some years. For different reasons we were both apprehensive.
The class was wonderful and I will definitely be joining them again next week.
@conleywoods that picture looks sublime!

Weigh in Day: Wednesday
PW: 142.8
CW: 140.8
My holiday weight gain only lasted 24hrs as I was back to 140.8 the next day, but since then I have been up and down all week. I'm finding getting back into a routine tricky and haven't been making the best choices with food and drink, or getting enough exercise. I find growing healthy habits takes time and is difficult, but slipping back into old habits is far too easy! I have guests staying this weekend so I think that has played a part in me not feeling like I can get back into a routine just yet. Come next Monday, I will be free to focus on myself, so that should help me get things back in order.3 -
Another good day for calories. I have naturally trended towards intermittent fasting and I am just not hungry right away in the morning. This has left more calories for my main two meals and I feel pretty satisfied. Today was a lake day so lots of trips up and down the stairs to and from the lake. Some swimming but the lake is still pretty cold. Tomorrow we are back at the lake to help build the new canopy for the deck. I took new measurements and I am down 1.5 inches in my bust, 2 inches in my waist and almost an inch off my arm. The scale isn't moving a ton but my body is definitely shrinking.
@YinxFed The yoga class looks so fun! I bet you and your daughter in law felt so refreshed after your class!
@39flavours Great loss!5 -

Hi Team,
Sorry for the late intro. I'm Courtney, 42, and live in Quebec Canada with my husband and our cats. I've newly been officially diagnosed with ADHD combined type and I'm working on finding medications and strategies to be my best self. I've been floundering with my self-perception around my job the past year and this diagnosis has put perspective on what's really "my fault" and what is a result of the way my brain processes the world. I'm going to be using the 'progress over perfection' mantra going forward and work on the negative self-talk that swirls around my head when I don't meet my self-imposed achievement measures.
The psychologist believes I have perfectionist tendencies and all-or-nothing leanings so that's the kind of thing that has likely contributed to my overeating. If I've already gone over calories, I might as well just keep going, right!!??! NOPE!!! and since I've yo-yo'd with my weight most of my adult life I've found myself saying, I know how to lose the weight, (forgetting how hard it was) so I can just eat this extra now and deal with the consequences later.
I also see now why I haven't been able to consistently get back into logging my food. Anything remotely tedious makes me want to avoid it and since I'm no longer hyper focused on getting results like I was during my first 6 months with the group back in 2020-2021, I've been content to coast and maintain and fall back into my main life habit of attempting to achieve with the barest effort possible. I have no problem putting in effort and energy when it's something concrete I want to see finished, but losing that extra 15lbs still seems too abstract and unrealistic since I've never been that fit since I was a teenager.
How to convince myself that level of effort is worth it when my complacency says to just keep coasting....
I'm a high energy person, and being involved in sports has been a great outlet so I'm going to continue to plug into that, but I know from experience that I can't outrun my fork. I have to find a balance.
Rewards don't seem to work anymore as I'm not disciplined enough to deny myself anything recently. The accountability of this group is keeping me in line but hopefully soon I will sort more stuff out and find my balance.

You know when you get some kind of infection and start taking antibiotics perfectly according to the prescription? Then you feel better and start to "forget"? Logging is kind of like that. You lost some weight. You feel ever so much better. You lose your sense of vigilance and urgency. You keep doing some things, but... It is hard to keep doing the things you know work once the urgency calms down.
BUT - it is like learning anything. If you stop while you're still at the stage where it is something you have to think about, work at, and watch every step, it will not get to the phase where it feels automatic and easy. You can probably skate without thinking of every body part involved, but logging is still one stupid step at a time and it gets annoying. You can log or stay within a balance that does not need to be outrun with minimal effort, eventually. I have been either logging or using a simple template for meals for almost 11 years. There were many periods of rebellion and breaking out, there was a lot of experimentation to keep things fresh and relevant to my age and activity, and there are still times when I need to log carefully as a reminder. But mostly, keeping track and on track in a way that works for me is something I do without having to think about it as much. But there were long periods when it took the effort.
The last 10 or 15 pounds? Your body does not really want to go there. It is somewhere strange and it will mean change from a long-established norm. Resistance will sometimes be strong! Take your time. Experiment and learn from the things that do not work (by doing them!). Process over perfection. Tedium does not kill. Going to this new place will be amazing. If logging just is the big deterrent, try meal templates - a kind of outline for each meal that you know will keep your food intake within your ability to outrun Go for limits that you stick to 6 days a week, or whatever. Try things. Have fun with the experiments.
OK! Enough from me on all that - team thoughts? If you're stuck, where are you going to experiment to try for a green number on your next weigh-in? Even 0.1 pound will do. If you're on a good green streak, how are you dealing with logging and the other potentially tedious tools?
