    Good morning! Today starts week 3 of the July challenge. We are at the half way mark.

    Questions;

    1. What have you done well so far this month?
    2. What changes can you make in the last 2 weeks?
    3. Do you have any NSVs to share?

    1. Just living the Maintenance life. Everything is going well
    2. Nothing really
    3. Ran another 5 km race this month, got up to 45 running on the treadmill or 7.5 km. Hoping to do 10km by the end of the summer. Other than that, just been trying out this new body and seeing what it can do. I'm a heck of a lot faster and better at baseball this year. Playing in two leagues plus my running. I couldn't imagine doing all that last year. Pretty crazy.

    1. What have you done well so far this month?
    Two weeks vacation and i stayed focused on healthy choices and staying active. Probably averaged 6 hours a day of rowing a boat or paddling a kayak or canoe.

    2. What changes can you make in the last 2 weeks? I would have walked more if I could do it over again. I averaged over 12k steps a day, but had 3 days out of 14 when I dint hit my 12k goal.

    3. Do you have any NSVs to share?

    I wore my new linen pants and shirt in style. I got lots of comments on how good I look. Plus, my medical test results look excellent!

    I counted my pool time as a leisurely swim. Most of the time I was swimming laps but slower than usual. I also used my water weights. I did some stretching in the hot tub but don’t count this in my exercise time. Have a great Monday.

    I can list my steps for while I was gone or just enter them in the spreadsheet if you want. They will help our group monthly step total.

    My Fitbit broke forever so no step tracking until I get a replacement. Trying to decide what to do. I have a Google phone so I wanted to try the Google watch but apparently the watch doesn't hold a charge long. The Fitbit is affordable but since Google bought Fitbit they seem to be phasing out parts of it... Not sure if it will go away entirely eventually.

    Anyone have a tracker or smart watch that they love?

    In response to Linda's thoughtful post from yesterday...

    Questions;

    1. What have you done well so far this month?
    This month, I have decided to challenge myself by increasing my daily step target from 10k to 12,500. Woah, what a difference this has made in my daily movement routine! I have also started regularly using the IF tool on MFP's app. I no longer eat past 7:00 p.m. and I fast for 16 hrs a day with an eight hour eating window. I love it! :blush:

    2. What changes can you make in the last 2 weeks?
    In the last two weeks of this month, I can push myself even further by incorporating strength training 2-3x/week. As of now, I am pretty inconsistent with this and would like to become more consistent with my approach to building and toning my muscles.

    3. Do you have any NSVs to share?
    I have started playing tennis again! I experienced a small tear to my rotator cuff in April and that set me back. I am pleased to be able to get back to enjoying physical activities that I enjoy. B)

    Congrats on the loss! What do you think helped the scale move?

    As you know, we have been away at our Summer home since June. Nice thing with having a place like this is that the family (children, grandchildren, etc) like to come and visit. Unfortunately, it also means ice cream, donuts, s'mores, grabbing something to eat at the beach, etc. I can not think of anything worse for dieting, for me, then to be faced continuously with such goodies. Even with tracking (which may not be 100% factual) there are just too many calories added each day.

    Most of our company has gone and I have been back on religiously tracking and got back to my wife and I taking morning walks with the dog. For me, if I want to lose weight; (1) do not have the temptations easily accessible, (2) track, track, track your eating. When you have reached your target, or better before reaching your target, --- STOP EATING, and (3) even a simple 1/2 hour walk before breakfast each day can make a big difference. I do not eat breakfast before going out and when I return, I find my "ravishing" morning hunger is gone.

    It seems to work for me. Hope this helps.

    Rick
