@strong_fit_ells that is fantastic! Finding an alcohol-free drink that you can enjoy while waiting for the craving to pass, and to give yourself a moment of relaxation is great. You'll be able to get through those tough moments when you know you don't want to drink, but that the habit is strong - good for you!
@maddawgmadsen - beautiful green one there! You'll be into that new decade very soon - just keep that sourdough under control! Good work
We had a tough day today - things were not so great with my father, and we find out tomorrow if he is staying on in hospital or going to a rehab centre. I hope he gets a good sleep tonight and is in better shape tomorrow either way. It was exhausting today.
I also hope to be able to take a nice long walk tomorrow, and do some Pilates or something! It will help me feel better after a day like this one. I was at the hospital for the whole day, and am looking forward to the head hitting the pillow tonight. I am pleased that I have not had any alcohol to "deal" with the stress or anything. I figure if I can keep this even keel through a rough time, I can keep it up through anything! Hanging on to this decision feels great right now. I am able to sleep well, and the anxiety is much less.
OK! Thursday folks get ready!

I love non weight victories. Great job.
@jugar hoping he does have a restful evening.
@strong_fit_ells that is a great fine. You were lucky to stumble upon it. Enjoy
Lot's of downtime this morning at work. Worked on my Spanish. No exercise tonight. Dinner at a friends. They have a huge dog. Her head dwarfs mine. She thinks she is a lap dog.4 -

It's been gray and rainy here and I am getting the blahs. I have a "happy light" that I've been trying. I may need to up the time or intensity or something. There was a water leak in the road outside my house and I got to listen to jackhammering and other heavy equipment sounds all day. Now on day 2 of a righteous headache. Still walking during meetings, logging, and eating pretty well. I have a lunch event tomorrow then meeting someone for a beer. I'll need to be careful for both.5

Does anyone have a cool idea for next week's full-week challenge? It could be about logging, hitting numbers of any kind, working on consistency - anything goes. What would be useful to you?
All suggestions welcome1 -

The city is tearing up our streets next summer. Putting in new sewer lines, sidewalks and water. We will have to pay for the sidewalks. And our streets will be narrow. I might need that beer. I might take a day off to sit outside and watch them.
Water consumption would be a good challenge. As would doing something good for oneself. Or a random act of kindness.
I got my evaluation at work today. I passed. Guess I can go to work tomorrow. Darn. I wanted to sleep in. Stretch fit on workout and a strength6 -

A little loss is still progress. I have been very busy at work (which all of you are used to me sharing now lol) with projects and meetings. Fingers crossed I can leave work at a decent hour (yesterday it was after 6:30pm) to come home, do an at-home workout, and then relax before the weekend. I also got my performance evaluation delivered this week and I am getting a promotion once the new compensation cycle kicks in. I was so happy to hear that because I’ve worked my butt off this past year and it’s nice to be recognized for that work with a new job title.
My in-laws are visiting this weekend and we still do not have our living room set up due to all the sanding, so we don’t have a common area for people to sit and relax in right now. Hopefully they won’t mind. I’ve been debating on asking my husband if we can just ask them to arrive a little bit later; they tend to arrive around 11am when we’re still out doing errands and then they just sit around at the house until it’s time for the play.7 -

The city tore up our streets this past summer... and fall. The project started on time in the spring, but then weather and other issues kept delaying the finish of the project. When we left for Thanksgiving break, our road was still half dirt. When we came home, it was all nicely paved. It took them forever. And, it seemed every time they shut off our water happened on days where I had migraines, was sick, or only worked a partial day. It was loud and miserable without running water. All of this to say, I support you getting a beer and watching the work happen. Bring ear plugs.
Also, I love your suggestions for the challenge. Those are all great ones!

@ashleycarole86 - Thursday, January 25th - 3,231 steps ... in my defense, it was snowing, then raining, then snowing, and windy all day. I was not able to get out for my daily walk for fear of getting stuck in the mud and the boys I play basketball with were all sick. And, we had a school board meeting last night, so I wasn't able to make CrossFit after work. Those steps were all from walking around our tiny office, walking around our house helping with dinner, and a short grocery store trip.
Also, you mentioned that you and @bowens1973 gain and lose together. I'm sorry you're in a gaining pattern. I know you'll both kick it soon.2 -

Wowzer! I'm sure that I was in here just yesterday! Clearly not - 39 new messages it said! What's happening with the time???
Today's been quite frustrating. I only wanted to set up an email automation system, but it's taken me hours! I'm still not certain if I've done it right, but hubby has asked me to close my laptop - I suspect I'm a bit hangry too!
Anyway - enough about that!
Exercise has been good - it always is, to be fair! But my daily weigh-ins have revealed an unwelcome gain that has stubbornly remained over the past 5 days! [Not happy!]
Liselyn (@jugar), how lovely to hear about your dad.
It seem that I have carelessly misplaced my mojo. Perhaps I need to stop writing and do as hubby says.
Goodnight, Friends.

@wishfuljune Congrats on your promotion - what lovely news for someone who clearly works her butt off for the company!
We had a work lunch out and it was a bigger meal.. breakfast was a good size though. Going for dinner with a friend before the concert. Weekends always have more fun and more things to manage. He's on a dry January so alcohol won't be a factor. Yay!
Tomorrow Brad and I are participating in a Pelofondo. We have pledged to do 150 KM over the weekend on our Pelotons.. trying to get it done tomorrow. It will be a fun day of intense exercise.. a challenge for sure!
I'll be compiling the last of the step report for the week ending on January 20 for posting soon!6 -
How did it get to be Friday night already (aka Saturday morning for our UK people)??? It has been a tough and kind of crazy week, but here we are. Dad was moved to a rehab place late this afternoon, so hopefully he will be able to regain a bit of muscle and be able to go back to his regular care home where he knows all the things and people. He was pretty good today, and we hope the next few days will get him standing and walking a bit better.
Food has been kind of all over the place, and exercise hardly anywhere near what I usually do, so I'm feeling stodgy and looking forward to getting home soon. We'll see how things go for the weekend and I hope to be able to head north Monday or Tuesday. It will feel good to get back to my routines!
You are all superstars - and here come the Saturday people (and anyone left from today!):

@MaddawgMadsen I am not a big fan of the dust that goes with construction. I understand your frustration. I also am prone to migraines. I do hope we won't be without water for long periods. I have a noise canceling set of headphones. Maybe I can even go up on my roof and watch. Kidding. I do hope the air quality will not be to affected. My mom has COPD, and my husband has asthma. Sorry you had to endure it.
No exercise for me today. Went to work until 1700. Then worked on my main 4 aquariums for the next 2 1/2 hours. Skimmers, glass, filters, sand and water changed. Glass cleaned. Then snow and bacteria added. Copperband butterfly fish and the wrasse both doing well in quarantine. Can't wait to start setting up new tank. It weighs 800 pounds, tank only.
I believe I can get 6 of my co-workers to help move it. But wondering if it would be better to ask a furniture store to help with it. Would think they would be bonded.

Pelofondo is about to begin for Brad and I!
We will ride our Pelotons until we hit 150 KM. We technically have the whole weekend to complete the event but we want to do it in one day.6 -
@ashleycarole86 good luck to you and Brad riding 150km!
@zumbaforever that sounds like a big tank! Looking forward to pictures once it's all together!
On Tuesday hubby and I are going to FL for a week. My parents rented a house, so I'm hoping this trip will be relaxing and doing some things while not eating too much extra. We may go to Epcot one day, so that will have some extra, but I hope the rest of the time, it will just be normal foods.
This week has been good so far. Eating within calories, exercising, along with a lot of meditation and self reflection. I am hoping this trip doesn't derail any progress I am making.5 -
Greetings Friends!
So I didn't realise it, but I'm getting a bit burnt out! This morning I woke up (eventually). I was so reluctant to get up - it was cold, I felt miserable, lonely and I had no energy to work out. So I have taken the day off. I know it's the weekend, but I normally work on weekends - both days! I don't work full weekend days, but I tend to work 4-5 hours on Saturdays AND Sundays. Which means that I work EVERY DAY 🤔
So Ben's been looking after me today. Both of my computers have stayed off and I am taking the day off. I only have a few more weeks left before I leave college. And then I will be taking all weekends off. Until then I have to be really mindful of my own health limits.
I hope everyone is well.

@YinxFed I'm glad you've checked in with yourself and realizing you're burnt out. I have so been there.
I had a fun day yesterday - a luncheon event with the sustainable business council where I caught up with several people in my professional circle and made a new connection. I ate/drank smart - skipped the beer, sweetened tea, cheesy mashed potatoes and bread; focused my plate on roasted veg and salad with some beef as a side. I enjoyed one small cookie and a shot glass size pot de creme. Not going way overboard at events is hard for me so I was really proud of myself! Met a friend for a beer which turned into 2 and a hot dog for dinner but it was really fun to be out and the live music was good. I've eaten well today and did tax stuff while walking on my under desk treadmill. I can feel the shift into better habits/routines happening and that feels amazing. It's been years since I've been able to consistent.7 -
CW 219.2 ugh
Hate to see that but it’s the truth. I just keep gaining. Don’t know quite how to turn this around. But I have to. Need to.
I turn 60 in June. I want to be below 200. What do I need to do to get there? That’s what I need to figure out. Hubby and I took a walk today for about 1.74 miles. That’s a start. It was a pretty day too.

Good luck Ashley and Brad. Hope you do well with your challenge today.
